When we walked in, an elderly gentleman was waiting on his order, so my brother took the opportunity to ask him a few questions. ‘Good evening Sir, how long have you been coming here?’ He said about 30 or 40 years, somewhere about there. And when my brother asked what did the gentleman recommend, he replied, ‘Everything on the menu is delicious!’ Then, he did go on to recommend two dishes, but I forgot what they were. Sorry guys! Before we could order, a few other customers came in and placed their orders. One lady started talking to us and ended up giving us recommendations too. What was remarkable was when she said, ‘If you don’t like your food, I will give you your money back!’ Again, she was a customer– zero affiliation to the restaurant. lol If the customers are responding like this, you KNOW the food is excellent.I thought the prices were very good. For example, they have a turkey leg for $10, but it is very big. My brother ordered ribs and pulled pork for his family. Hands down, everyone loved the ribs and wished they had ordered more. The food they had smelled really good and I liked their signature BBQ sauce, enough to buy more of it to take back home. There is only one small table with 2-3 chairs for seating. Unless you’re dining solo, be prepared to take your food with you to eat elsewhere. I also do not recall seeing a bathroom, but that could have been elsewhere (possibly in a building next door).

Cuevas Drive Inn – Menu with Prices – 2013 N Ash Ave, Lubbock

This place is where you go to have a home cooked meal away from home. My family went to Lubbock to visit my little brother at Tech and we stopped here. The food was so good, great prices, and quick service. My little brother said it gets packed on Saturday’s so be prepared, it wasn’t when I went though. The owner is super friendly also. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros and my eggs were cooked perfectly! The papas tasted just like my family would make at home. Authentic food here, you won’t be disappointed.

Ribs Against The Machine – Menu with Prices – 4227 San Fernando Rd, Glendale

If you haven’t heard yet, there’s a new pop up where Dave’s Hot Chicken used to be before they opened their first brick and mortar store in Koreatown. Ribs Against The Machine barely opened a month ago but due to popularity, it has extended its business hours. They used to open 8:45pm, then 8pm, and now at 7pm. I had the chance to visit the location before it gets too crowded. I met Armen and Edgar who were both friendly towards customers. They explained the process of getting these ribs ready for customers. Apparently, they slow cook the ribs for about six hours to make it really tender. I tried the Cornbread Rib-Mitch which is their signature mini cornbread muffins, with chopped up rib meat with a side of barbecue sauce and pickles. I requested a mild level of spiciness but if I had known ahead that the muffins will be on a sweet side, then I would have asked for it to a lot spicier. The merriment of sweet and spicy tastes will be perfect. I also had a piece of rib meat and I tell you, it’s so tender and delicious. I could easily scrape the meat off the bones. Since they just opened, I do under that they are still trying to get themselves comfortably situated. I’m sure after they polish off all the jitters and kinks, they’ll be handling this like certified pros. I recommend giving it a try. They are open daily except Mondays from 7pm until sell out.

Frank’s Tacos – Menu with Prices – 902 E Washington Ave, Santa Ana

How should I start this… Well our original taco caterer had canceled on us last minute (more upsetting was the run around). We found Franks Taco’s on yelp in the Fullerton area. Figuring it would have been more convenient to hire someone local to the area where we were having our baby shower. Franks responded quickly and was super professional in his answers to my questions on types of meats he would be providing. Also drinks and condiments. Thank you Chu-chu this dude saved us from our baby shower. Skip;;;;;;to food Frank and his brother/cousin? showed up on time and was able to accommdate 50+ . Its when him and his brother/cousin started cooking. Man we smelled everything from from meat grilling and onions burning. This guy lured me and the guys from the kitchen to come out and eat. My wife totally loved the professionalism and food they put out. They not only worked under pressure but they literally provided GREAT and amazing food. They also offered a vegetarian dish for my pops who is a vegan! Thanks Frank and brother/cousin??!! lol my bad Keeping you guys in mind for future events THANK YOU again!

Restaurant Hickory Hill BBQ – Menu with Prices – 20101 TX-31, Tyler

Sweet mother of God, have I found the ambrosia of Texas BBQ….. I was headed West on highway 31 and I had passed this place numerous times and thought, “Why the hell not?” So pulled in and I was the only soul there. I walked in and was greeted very warmly by the Lady of the house. I asked if they had a menu and was shown where I could find one….. Then it hit me….Shit, I only had $5 in cash on me and my debit card and I had a strange feeling that they were not keen on plastic, except for their To Go cutlery. I asked them if they accepted card or cash and was let down when they said cash. I hung my head in disappointment and told them that I only had a 5 on me at the time and I did not think I could get anything on the menu. The Gentleman of the house standing behind the counter stated that it was not a problem at all and that he would hook me up for a 5. I was very surprised and thanked them profusely and they told me not to worry about it. THIS is Texas and Southern hospitality at it’s finest. He asked what I wanted and I told him to surprise me because I just wanted to taste what they had. Around 5 minutes later I was handed a To Go box that weighed around 4 pounds….. Totally not expecting that, what so ever. These people were the tits. They were kind and truly a treat to be around. I did not get their names but I will when I go back. I took my haul back to the house and instantly fell in love. Holy shit… I was born and raised in Texas and this, THIS was hands down the best BBQ that has ever graced my palate. The Gentleman hooked me up with 4 ribs, 2 slices of brisket, baked beans that were straight out of a Texas fairy tale and some of the best damn tater salad I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I do not think I could find another place that can top Hickory Hill. If my brother is reading this, my most humble apologies, but you have to step your game now. I shall return.

Lui’s Pizza & Subs Menu with Prices 1150 N Harbor Blvd #106, Anaheim

Best Pizza in Anaheim bar none. Have tried other places all over the place always to my sincere regret within North/West Anaheim. Lui’s is #1 for me. My faves include: Garlic cheese STICKS (there is a difference, they have regular garlic cheese bread which is not the pizza pie cheese sticks) Buffalo Wings! This place is my favorite wings place, I don’t think of anywhere else when I want wings. My custom orders: * Mushroom Pepperoni Sausage w/ Jalapenos is my personal signature pizza. * Hawaiian with Jalapenos is delicious * chicken bacon mushroom jalapenos Their Signature Chicken Club is #1 in the OC bar none. Deluxe/Supreme is fantastic as well. THE CRUST makes for EXCELLENT BREADSTICKS to dip in your favorite marinara, ranch, etc sauces. GRAVY! Its an honest pizza pie shop, great pizza, hidden gem, not as well known as other places because of its location but for locals and visitors to Disneyland – you just have to try it. Due to to size of the place it is not very good for dining in – unless you are alone or with 1 other person, best solution go for pickup. — TIP TIP TIP TIP TIP — Plan to be at the shop within 20-25minutes of your order so you get it HOT off the oven. If you phone-in ( it sometimes can be difficult to reach, since they go all hands on deck making their orders and any extra hands are delivering pies ). But its not because they are trying to ignore you, when they get busy, they get busy. Just keep calling every 5 minutes and you’ll get them. Delivery times tend to be 45 minutes to an hour for locals. I meant to post another 5 stars in 2018 but this one will do for both 2018 and 2019. I’m actually going to surprise my brother for his birthday by grabbing him a pie and some IPAs to go with this glory.

Overton Brooks VA Medical Center – Menu with Prices – 510 E Stoner Ave, Shreveport

My brother was a patient at Overton Brooks. He was prone to aspiration, and during his stay at the VA, they allowed a nursing student to feed him. This student was unsupervised, she did not follow a direct protocol from speech stating that he was to be fed upright at a 90 degree angle during meals, and when he aspirated she did nothing. I was there and witnessed the entire thing. My brother coded for 8 minutes before they were able to revive him. He later died from complications due to her negligence. So no, I don’t feel that the VA is a great hospital. When veterans come, they should not have unsupervised students doing anything to them. When a family brings their loved one to the hospital, they should be able to trust the facility. I no longer have that trust.

Big D’s BarbQue – Menu with Prices – 101 Common St, Shreveport

I am all for mom and pop stores and restautants. I was in shreveport for work and wanted to try this place for some good bbq. The location is a little sketchy, i decided to still go in and give it a try. When i walked in, i was greated by a really nice lady and older gentleman. However, i wasnt sure if i had walked into someones house or was it a restaurant. The place was a bit crowded and dirty. The gentlemen was also seated in a large armchair with a tv and a bunch of things around him smoking a cigarette. The cigarette smell of cigarettes hits you so bad when you walk in. The lady reminded me it was a restaurant when she pointed where the menu was. I ordered the bbq dinner that came with ribs, potato salad and beans. I asked if they take card and the gentleman told me yes. However, he could not get his card machine to take my amex or visa card. No it was not declining for not having insufficient funds, it kept giving error codes on his machine screen. The total for the meal was $14 which was decent, however i only had like $5 cash on me and was a bit out of the way to go get cash and come back. The gentleman did offer for me to take the food and come back the next day to pay him. I had to kindly decline because i was not sure if i did want to come back to this enviroment. When i left, i wasnt sure if i should have been relieved or bummed out. I really was looking forward to trying their food and the sweet potato pie i spotted on my way out smelled so heavenly, but then again i wasnt sure if my food would have tasted like cigarettes by how strong the cigarette smell was in the little restaurant. So i guess ill give this place 2 stars since the service was pleasant, but the fact that the machine was not reading my cards and the restaraunt needs a good deep cleaning and needs to be cigarette free.

Kee’s #Loaded Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 3625 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Portland

One of the best carts I’ve been to, hands down. And a super affordable way to feed a family! We had the #Loaded Baked Potato- a delicious monstrosity with shrimp, steak, chicken, brown sugar bacon, green onions, sour cream, and cheese. The chicken was sooooo tender and the broccoli not too soft so it added a nice texture. It’s her signature dish and it shows. We also ordered a side of fried chicken, which was a standout fave. The seasoning had a sharp acidity, a hint of lemon that took it from regular fried chicken to a serious contender for best chicken I’ve ever had. Perfectly crispy and juicy! We also loved the communal atmosphere. There’s music playing, people are sitting around waiting chatting it up. It’s definitely an atmosphere where people can bring their kids and relax. The staff is super friendly and the owner definitely knows how to make customers happy. She remembers names, takes time to make people feel special on their birthday, etc… all in all, it’s a VIBE at Kee’s! Pro tip: follow Kee’s on IG so you can stay up to date. Some days she has a list, some days she’s closed, the menu changes frequently, it’s easiest to know you’re going to get what you’re looking for if you follow her and check her updates. Another tip: for four hungry people just order one meal. Seriously. Each meal comes with a dessert and a drink and is MASSIVE in and of itself. There were five of us and we ordered one meal and an extra side and we had leftovers. When you see the serving sizes you’ll get why the price of meals run from $20-$30.

J and L BBQ Everett – Menu with Prices – 2915 Colby Ave, Everett

Dropped in because the restaurant we were looking for was no longer in business but it turned out to be a great piece of luck. Never looked up a review but as it turned out, we parked right in front of it. I saw the sign and smelled the smoke so it called to me when we looked for an alternative to the defunct restaurant. It was around 3 pm when we dropped in and there was another customer enjoying his very large ribs which he wholeheartedly recommended. I told the man behind the counter that this was our first time there and he recommended the brisket. When we initially told him we were thinking of an order of brisket and an order of ribs, we were warned that the portions were generous so we decided on the brisket. It turned out to be an excellent choice as it was a classic brisket as you can get. We were supplied with knives but didn’t need them. It was perfect. The baked beans were delicious as well but the collard greens were a little salty. They had fresh made peach cobbler and that was generous serving as well. As we finished our meal, decided to get a pound of brisket to take home for a family member. If you’re hungry, keep this place in mind. We’ll definitely hit this place up again if we’re ever in the area.

Angie’s Latin food – Menu with Prices – 2593 Airport Rd, Colorado Springs

My gosh this place is as authentic as you get! This started as a food truck and grew into a restaurant! I rate it a 5 star because being a Latina this checked all my boxes !! Food at a GREAT price! The menu has a variety of Latin foods from different countries to try! The staff is friendly and it’s a family owned restaurant! You can order for carry out or eat in! I ordered and pick up my food. When I entered the restaurant I felt like I was with family !You could feel the good energy, Latin music playing and the food smelled delicious ! I ordered the pupusas and was not disappointed! They were a good size , juicy and the topping was amazing!! They packed lots of toppings and was a bang for my buck! If you haven’t tried pupusas this is the place to go ! I really loved it and it is now one of my favorite Hispanic restaurants!

MCCARTERS BBQ – Menu with Prices – 2675 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Fort Myers

I picked up a full rack for $25 around 1130am, there were not a lot of customers when I arrived. Once we got home and started eating I realized these were the toughest ribs I’ve ever had. I thought I was chewing on my daddy’s shoe. My friend couldn’t finish them because of the toughness, he spit out what he had in his mouth. I was just chewing and chewing so I threw out over a half of the rack of ribs. I don’t know if I got yesterday’s ribs rewarmed or the pitmaster was not paying attention. They didn’t have good taste, no fat, super chewy, dry, and very tough. It was more like beef jerky than succulent ribs. The owner seemed like a nice guy, but I wasted $25 and the time to pick them up. I’ll stick with other rib houses from now on.

Moe’s Gas and Grill – Menu with Prices – 401 S Northshore Dr, Knoxville

Went here a couple days ago to try their new menu. It was great. I tried the ribs, greens, cheese grits, gumbo, and shrimp salad. I gave it 4 stars only because the gumbo wasn’t the greatest. Don’t get me wrong, it was tasty just not something I’d rush to order again. The ribs though, ridiculoussssssss! My wife doesn’t eat ribs and she had no trouble eating one. They were smoked ribs and had a dry rub on there that makes you want more for sure. I’d definitely go back. The chef was awesome too!
