We’ve had two more meals over past couple weeks. Both were good meals in whole. The rainbow roll and lobster roll are my addictions here and were was fresh and delicious. The lobster bisque was on point again. My hubbys yellowtail dinner was over cooked and a bit rubbery but still a fresh piece of fish. Service is friendly and efficient. What an excellent meal we had! I was I. The mood for sushi and hubby wasn’t. Since this is an eclectic menu that has both a nice selection of sushi choices as well as other choices of seafood, pastas, steak and chicken. I had tuna as my appetizer, it was delicious. A large portion of thinly sliced raw tuna with a light Asian ponzu sauce. Hubby had the lobster bisque, he said it was good, maybe not quite as rich as others he’s had but he still enjoyed and finished the cup of soup. I had the rainbow roll which was delicious and I also had a roll off the menu of yellowtail and tuna that was simple and delicious. They were big and next time I’ll get just one as I was stuffed. Hubby had mahi-mahi perfectly cooked and very moist. The zucchini veggies were perfect side. I had a strawberry sake that was sweet and delicious. The meal was right under $100 and we left satisfied and looking forward to returning. Next time we’ll save room for dessert. Service was attentive and friendly. The music was a lovely soft jazz and not too loud which we appreciated. I can’t wait to return

Hibachi Express Highland City – Menu with Prices – 5209 US Hwy 98 S, Lakeland

This is my favorite restaurant for sushi! The staff is always so friendly and I can order my food ahead and come straight in and pick it up. My favorite dish is the pink lady sushi roll. It is salmon, tuna, krab, cream cheese, avocado and fish eggs wrapped around the pink soy paper and under it is spicy mayo and eel sauce. The ingredients are always so fresh and delicious every time I get it, it is literally the best sushi roll I have ever had. The soy paper almost melts in your mouth. The only negative thing I could say is I wish they would wrap it a little tighter because it’s a big roll and unless you eat it in one bite it falls apart. The 2nd roll I got on this day was the crazy tuna roll. It is pretty much raw tuna on top of a spicy tuna roll. I think a lot of people would like this but I am not a huge fan and it is just because I do not care for their spicy tuna. I prefer fresh tuna and adding my own spices. The spicy tuna has an odd consistency and I don’t care for the flavor. I don’t usually get their hibachi meals anymore but I have and I get the shrimp lunch. It’s $7.25 for a huge meal with the shrimp, rice and vegetables with your drink included which is such a great deal!! Sometimes when I am on a diet I will just get the shrimp lunch with extra veggies instead of rice and it is yummy! It doesn’t quite taste as good as the hibachi you sit down and it but it is still good and WAY cheaper. I would recommend this place anytime!! I went there last week a friend and I order a sushi roll each in advance and we still had to wait 20mins which is insane. We let a nice young man up at the front know we were waiting he apologized and brought us free soup and drinks!!

MISO Japanese sushi & bar Menu with Prices 1111E E Dimond Blvd, Anchorage

This month is my birthday and my husband and I wanted to celebrate it early by going out to get our favorite food, sushi. I looked on Yelp and saw Miso Sushi was a fairly new place with a lot of great reviews. The pictures of the food looked really good as well as the menu so thought we’d try it. I’m so glad we did, it was delicious! Very fresh and tasty fish with unique rolls that are fresh as well and not overly saucy (just the right amount of sauce). They gave us miso soup which was great, the flavor was perfect not too salty and the tofu was melt in your mouth. They gave us edamame too which is a nice touch since not all sushi places provide that. I got Hana Fuji apple flavored sake which was very tasty too. We ordered the sushi & sashimi which was very fresh and good cuts of fish. We also ordered the Fantastic roll which lives up to it’s name, it has spicy yellowtail (which I’ve never had before, most places have just spicy tuna) inside topped with fresh yellowtail, jalepeno, and a dot of Sriracha. Finally, we got the Miso Special roll which was my favorite! Topped with a variety of fresh fish +tobiko with spicy tuna, shrimp tempura (added some good crunch), and avocado on the inside. Whatever sauce it was topped with was good too and not overbearing at all. The waitress gave us fried Oreos for dessert which was a perfect end to an amazing meal. The service was prompt and friendly. We will definitely be back!

The Shrimp Dock ? Farragut, TN – Menu with Prices – 11124 Kingston Pike, Knoxville

My first visit to this store was the day it opened. Captain Paul had it totally on point. Being from California and being used to fresh seafood, I was thrilled. My late husband and I were there every single week to find so much fresh fish. Not only shrimp and 4 kinds of salmon (which is all about they carry now), but grouper, fresh catfish, halibut cheeks (wonderful for fish tacos), mahi, several types of fresh fish, but their bisque was to DIE FOR. I was craving lobster bisque yesterday. i paid $15 for what could probably pass as tomato bisque. No chunks of lobster, not lobster taste, only fish stock taste. I will most likely ever cross their doors again. Shame on them for destroying what Captain Paul started as the place i looked forward to visiting every week and being welcomed with open arms.

Samurai Sushi Bar – Menu with Prices – 3545 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy, Lafayette

For some reason we always order sushi from this place. Not sure why we haven’t branched out to many other places, but the food never disappoints! We started off with the Fried-Squid. That came out in big chunks, and it was really fresh. You could tell it didn’t come out of the frozen aisle of a grocery store. Then we had mussels, which I don’t think was worth it. There was way two much mustard that took away from the actual mussel flavor. Plus, they only give you two per order. Not worth it. My favorite thing out of the appetizers was the snow crab and salmon salad. It had a good amount of raw salmon packed into it. I could’ve just eaten that and be completely satisfied. Then for the sushi rolls…we ordered the Tuna Tataky Roll, Spider Roll, Samurai Roll, Koko Roll, and the Rainbow Roll (without rice). The Tuna Tataky Roll was really good. I enjoyed the fresh Tuna on top of the sushi roll. There was a prefect amount of rice in there to counterbalance it. The Rainbow Roll was my favorite out of the five, because it had all my favorite fish inside of one roll. The freshness from the fish is what made it worth the price. The Samurai Roll had way too much rice. It wasn’t very tasty. The other two rolls, the Koko and Spider Roll was okay. Nothing too special about them to me, but I’d definitely prefer those over the Samurai Roll. That concludes my review on this place; I will definitely be back!

Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls – Menu with Prices – 4121 Main at North Hills St #100, Raleigh

Was at a conference in the Renaissance Hotel which finished at lunchtime, as and I was walking back to my car, I noticed Mason’s, so I thought I’d give it a try. Since I’ve lived between Providence RI and Boston MA (and so I’m familiar with good lobster rolls), I decided to grab a cup of lobster bisque and a Connecticut roll. The service was excellent – friendly, willing to help, wanting everyone to be happy. The table layout was a nice bright, clean vibe so it was definitely a neat place to stop for a quick lunch. The cup of bisque was just a hint salty for my liking, but it was good, although I would have liked a few chunks of lobster in it (I noticed they charge extra for adding lobster pieces to the bisque for bowl orders, but not for a cup, which was disappointing given I simply didn’t want a whole bowl). The Connecticut roll was excellent. There was loads of very tasty lobster overflowing out of it and the buttered roll was exactly what a great lobster roll should be. Very tasty indeed. I did get an organic root beer too (sold by the bottle) which went with it nicely. I thought it was a bit pricey, but the food was overall very good and I walked out feeling like I’d had a good lunch which was very authentic and tasty!

Ti Amo Ristorante Italiano – Menu with Prices – 6024 S Sheridan Rd A, Tulsa

My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and were in Tulsa for Scotfest 2019. We have been to the downtown location a couple times and just loved it. But since we were at the Windham hotel for the festival, I found this location was closer. Anyway, we shared a caprese salad, a bowl of lobster bisque (which is a MUST HAVE at this restaurant) and the meat ravioli. The portions are generous. I always have a hard time deciding what was the best meals we eat Ti Amo’s. But to be honest, I always go back to the lobster bisque. This ain’t no thin Red Lobster soup where you have to really search to find the lobster! Every spoon full of bisque has lobster in it at Ti Amo’s!! The ravioli and salad were both awsome as well. They serve you bruschetta first, then the salad, then the main course and with it some out of this world bread! Like I said, my wife and I both shared the salad, soup, ravioli, and a piece of phenomenal NY style cheesecake. We were both stuffed, and we had some bisque left over to bring home. This is a nice restaurant. But if you want a more quaint setting, I would pick the downtown setting. But this location has just as good of food as the downtown. It just isn’t as quiet than this one. The service is always excellent at these restaurants. Bottom line is, if you love Italian food, this is THE 2 restaurants in town to go to!!!!

Cortez Bait & Seafood Retail – Menu with Prices – 12110 Cortez Rd W, Bradenton

Great seafood market. We had a family of 12 on vacation and wanted to cook in one night so we stopped in and found a great selection. Everything that everyone wanted was here nice and fresh. The grouper was super fresh and we also grabbed some mahi mahi, shrimps, scallops, snow and Alaskan king crab, lobster bisque and some salmon. The mongers are very friendly and accommodating with helping slice up perfect sized portions. Next time we are on the island we will be back for sure.

Sushi Yama Japanese Restaurant Menu with Prices 7731 Perkins Rd #120, Baton Rouge

Sushi Yama was highly recommended to me by a friend, so we came here for a date night and found that it has great sushi and great service! We had the little rice roll which came with its own unique sauce (had a strong truffle flavor) and was packed with fish, which was exactly what we wanted. It’s a great, delicious roll to be low carb and really focus on the fish. We also had some of the nightly specials, the smoked yellowtail with apple and some toro (fatty tuna). For some reason I was expecting baked yellowtail so I was surprised when the fish came out but that was completely my own fault as I should have clarified before ordering. It was a unique dish, but I would not order it again. It was our first time trying toro and it was decent, but we were surprised to see that it was $7/slice when we got the bill (again, our fault for not paying close attention). I wouldn’t get the toro again either, but it was nice to try. The waitress helped us out by telling us that you tend to get more fish if you order it without rice and we did get more than the four slices that we ordered so we appreciated that. The service was quick and our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We also sat at the sushi bar and got to enjoy watching the sushi chefs. Overall i would definitely come back here for the high quality sushi and friendly service, but I’d try some different things on the menu.

Cousins Maine Lobster Raleigh – Menu with Prices – 411 W Morgan St, Raleigh

I was really looking forward to eating this tonight after seeing them on Shark Tank as well as the giant line their food truck has had at a few of the Raleigh food truck events. Between the 3 of my family members we ordered a Maine lobster roll, lobster tacos combo with tots, shrimp tacos, lobster bisque, 1 water and 1 lemonade. Total came to $55.48. The woman who took our order was friendly. This was really a mixed review of the food. I tasted all that was ordered to sample. The highlight was the lobster bisque. Very smooth consistency, great flavor and had a few pieces of chopped lobster mixed in. The lobster tacos were good as well, topped with fresh pico. The most lackluster item was unfortunately the one I personally ordered which was the cold lobster roll. The bun was nicely toasted with the perfect amount of butter to not be greasy. The lobster itself was cooked well, but really lacked seasoning. What surprised me most though was that it appeared to have no mayonnaise. The first few bites I took I didn’t taste any…then I realized it was globed on the bottom of the bun and the lobster placed on top. I hate to say it, but it was rather unappetizing (see pic). My suggestion would be for the lobster to be mixed with a seasoned mayonnaise mixture and also to throw on some traditional celery leaves. The slaw had potential, but really lacked seasoning as well. Lastly, the shrimp tacos, like the lobster ones, had great flavor. They were loaded, but with TINY shrimp. My husband agreed he would’ve rather had 5-6 medium/large shrimp to actually have something to bite in to, rather than several extra small shrimp.

Ichiban Japanese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – # 1054, 3019, 3701 McKinley Pkwy, Buffalo

Whenever I am in Hamburg and want sushi I go to Fuji San, that’s been an easy go to spot. So this past time I decided to give another place a shot. I looked up sushi restaurants in the area and Ichiban came up. It had great reviews so I called in and place my order. I got a tuna avocado roll, salmon cucumber roll, yellowtail scallion roll and spicy tuna roll all with brown rice. I also ordered shrimp tempura, a small green salad and miso soup. I think the total came to $40, which was a fair price. I used my GPS to get to the restaurant and was surprised when I saw the outside, it was in a small strip mall and didn’t look that appealing from the outside. Parked, went inside and was surprised again because the inside was really nice, the outside was very deceiving and the restaurant was much larger once stepping inside. The food was just about ready when we got there. The rolls were awesome, they were enormous! Sushi really doesn’t fill me up, my boyfriend and I always joke that whenever we go out for sushi we leave and want to go for another dinner. These rolls definitely filled me up. I was impressed. They only serve low sodium soy, which is great, not sure if they offered gluten free soy or not, I didn’t ask. The miso soup was delicious and the ginger salad dressing was awesome. Overall my first take out experience here was really good and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back again the next time I am in town and the mood strikes for sushi!

Sushi House Menu with Prices 2630 Wolflin Ave, Amarillo

This is beyond belief. I eat sushi at least twice a week. Sushi house completely lost credibility. I ordered the sashimi sampler w Tuna, salmon and yellowtail. I have eaten sushi for a LONG time. Never have I had a more RANCID piece of fish in my mouth. The tuna was bad, colorless and looked like it had been bought at a supermarket two days before. Blah. Nasty. The Salmon had good texture , color, and I had one slice of sashimi. The yellowtail was rancid. I almost vomited the minute it hit my mouth. Probably the single worst inedible moment of my entire life. It was soooooo bad. Bottom line, these guys have lost whatever good they had going. Hope I am not sick tomorrow! Do not eat raw fish here. Irony, they still charged me even though I immediately gave them back my order. Told them I will not accept rancid fish. They did not even apologize, but the sushi ass acted like I offended him. He kept staring at me like the “customer is wrong”. I guarantee he would not eat what he served me!! I would rather eat sushi at McDonalds or Red Lobster. Chunk

Ohshima Japanese Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 1956 N Tustin St, Orange

While think this is the some of the best sushi I’ve had in the LA area, we had a fairly unpleasant dining experience, so it’s a bit of a draw for me. To start with the good, the quality of the fish is outstanding – they have a simple cooked menu and then aside from the omekase, they have two sushi options – fish from Japan versus fish from other waters – and everything we had from the moment the first buttery slab of yellowtail hit our palates was delicious – fresh, thoughtful. J was tempted by the omakase, but as it’s strictly no substitutions and he’s allergic to some fish, this was a no go. The yellowtail carpaccio with a mild jalapeno sauce was a surprisingly hearty delight, my miso was warming and deep. Also did octopus, albacore, halibut, salmon, mahi mahi, and sea bass sushi – the sea bass touched with yuzu was a stand out. The non-sush menu is small and well curated – egg custards, butter clams, pork knee? There are barely cut rolls on the menu, let alone anything with tempura flakes or cream cheese, so if you’re dining w someone who doesn’t dabble in real sush, I would pass. The real downfall of the night was the service, which was absent at best, hostile at worst. To be fair, J is allergic to gluten and its derivatives, which sneaks into a lot of things in a sush place – soy sauce, wasabi, eel sauce, etc – but he’s always upfront abt it and we’ve literally never had a problem at a sushi place – after he clearly stated his allergies and we still ended up with very preventable contamination leading to illness, the staff was quite rude when we alerted them of the error and asked for a check. At this point the waitress began arguing with us abt his allergies. Ma’am, I’m happy to give you my money, I don’t want a free meal, I just want you to not poison my partner. Sushi is $7-16, sashimi is around $20. Omakase is $38ish for 12 pieces? No platters or boats here – we got chided for asking for a roll to be cut instead of hand. If you’re just looking for great fish, this is it; however, if you’re looking for an enjoyable dining out experience, better can be found. Will not go back for further mistreatment.
