For lunch, my Director of Sales bought me a Traditional Beef Torta from Los Tetillas. Unraveling the sandwich from the tin-foil & taking in the presentation, you can’t help but feel like you are about to eat a football. Taking a bite into the torta, you can taste all of the ingredients, which includes the toasted hoagie with your choice of meat, mayonnaise, refried beans, lettuce, tomato, & jalapeño’s. Which is important when eating a sandwich because you want to be able to distinguish each ingredient that is used to create the sandwich. Otherwise there’s no perfect harmony with a sandwich that you can’t distinguish what ingredients was used to make it. The only gripe I have with this meal is that I felt the refried beans did not really compliment with all of the other ingredients. I found it a bit off-putting in terms with everything else, which held this back from being a perfect meal. Did not quite make the play offs for me, but it still made the touchdown.

Torteria San Lenchito – Menu with Prices – 4810 N Drake Ave, Chicago

Just moved to Albany Park this summer, but haven’t had a lot of time to explore the restaurant options. It’s a cool fall day today, and everything about it said “tortas” to me! I dropped in to check out this little place, and all the reviews are spot-on. It’s close and cozy inside and exceptionally tidy from what I can see. My server was sweet and fast, and the chef did a great job with my giant sandwich! I heard the sizzle on the flat top as every ingredient was prepared. I got the chicken mole (love love mole) with fries and a bottle of Coke. The chips they give you as a little appetizer came with refried beans on top AND a little cup of bean … soup? I don’t know if I was supposed to eat that bowl of beans with a spoon, but it came with one so I did. The homemade salsas were excellent on top of the crispy, freshly fried chips. The torta was enormous (I could barely finish half) and amazing. I’d never had a torta with mayo on it, and it wasn’t too much – just added a nice richness. Chicken mole is one of my favorite things, and this had a great flavor. Not too saucy to eat, and perfect with little drips of red salsa. I will be back!! Winter is long and cold here and I need mole to keep me going!!

Habaneros mexican grill. Menu with Prices 3104 Hamilton Blvd, Allentown

This place seems relatively new, and I really hope they do well because I really enjoyed dining here. It was a late weekday evening and the place was pretty much empty, but I was working nearby and they’d caught my eye and I’d been dying to stop in. The staff and food seems very authentic Mexican. I was quickly brought complementary chips and salsa, which I couldn’t stop eating! The salsa was a bit bland, but there were a couple hot sauces on the table that enabled me to spice them up! When I finished, the server even came by and refilled them again without me having to ask. I ordered the cheese enchiladas a la carte with a side of the refried beans. The refried beans were huge, and actually very flavorful. They don’t taste like every other Mexican place’s refried beans- they’ve certainly got their own recipe. The cheese enchiladas were cheesy and saucy and so tasty! They gave me plenty of jalapeños, as requested. I left happy and full, and with leftovers. I’d definitely recommend this place, and I’ll definitely be back if I’m in the area again!

Green Deli Tortas Factory – Menu with Prices – 41653 Margarita Rd suite 106, Temecula

We are big fans of torta’s. Saw the advertisement on facebook. So we had to try it out. When we arrived we were not greeted right away. We rang the little bell and someone came from the back and greeted us. Menu was very straight foward, no excitement about it. Place was very clean and spacious. Husband got the ham torta and I tried the milanesa. My bolio was a little burnt. Milanesa stated it was going to come with jalapenos but my didn’t I had to ask for them. The ham torta had about 1 or 2 slices of meat. And we got the full torta. The corn in the cup was decent not the best. Fresa con crema were okay. Some strawberry were old and some were firm. Not sure if I’d go again.

Michoacan Tortas y Tacos – Menu with Prices – 5605 E Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth

So I’ve been on a search for a good torta and I finally found it! Everywhere else I have gone I’ve gotten tortas that are just okay (mainly pretty plain and dry) but here my torta was delicious. The tortas come with beans, mayo, lettuce, tomato, jalapeños and oh yes…AVOCADO! My only complaint is that there was no cheese on it, but I didn’t really feel like it affected the flavor. I just love cheese ? The service was quick, friendly and the restaurant was very clean. We’ll definitely return for more tortas in the future.

La Nopalera – Menu with Prices – 5606 Schroeder Rd, Madison

I stopped here just because I love random placed restaurants, just hoping to find a gem, and this stop did not disappoint! If you are looking for tacos, keep driving. No Tacos here! But it doesn’t matter. The diamonds here are the Tortas and juices. The Tortas are to die for! A big Mexican sandwich. It’s like juicy burrito stuffings on a huge Mexican bun. You can pick your favorite meat and mine is definitely the Pork. ( it’s the owners favorite, too.) You have a choice of jalapeños or chipotle on the Torta. Jalapeño is the way to go. Jalapeños are tangy and add a small bit of heat that goes great with the rich and juicy pork meat. Have everything on the Torta, lettuce, tomatoes. The whole thing. ITS SOOO GOOD! This Torta can get messy, so avoid if you are on a first date. I highly recommend eating it right away in the restaurant and not packing it to go. As the bun will soak up all the pork juice. The other reason I gave this place 5 stars are the juices! Really affordable fresh juiced vegetable and fruits are hard to find! I love the beet, pineapple , celery and apple. But you can add whatever you want and it’s the same price. In the cooler they have flan ( don’t miss that!) and other desserts and they also sell a very good chorizo that you can take home and cook for breakfast with your eggs. The place is super clean and the owners are so friendly. The place is a little off the beaten track, but, So worth it!

La Supertorta – Menu with Prices – 721 Georgesville Rd, Columbus

Wow. I am so disappointed it took us this long to visit La Super Torta! We loved everything about this place. It was a Saturday lunch and there were only a few other families/groups there eating. Lots of large seating tables for families. The cashier was incredibly friendly. We ordered our food, got our order number, and took a seat. The wait wasn’t long at all for our food to arrive. It was about $15 for one fountain drink and two tortas, I think. We both got tortas — a mixto (beef and marinated pork) and asada (steak). I had the asada but had a bite of the marinated pork from my husband’s sammy and it was outstanding. TBH, I think I will get the mixto Torta next time, as the pork added a bit of salty goodness to the torta. Mine was super good though (I ate the entire huge torta.) Both salsas (roja and verde) had a great amount of heat and flavor. We are lovers of hot salsas, and neither was too much…just a perfect, fresh bit of flavor to a very tasty torta. The bread was soooo good. Cooked smashed panini style and crispy and delicious. Slices of cooked jalapeños on the side were delicious, too. Some of the families eating had while cooked fish that looked super good. I’m not sure if that’s a weekend special or not, but I am tempted to try it, too. And we saw a burrito- it’s enormous! Like a foot long! Come with an appetite. Try everything. I wish I had saved room for the tres leches cake because it looked amazing, too. Can’t wait to go back! It’s definitely a new favorite of ours!

Jersey Mike’s Subs – Menu with Prices – 1101 Grindstone Pkwy Suite 105, Columbia

My chicken bacon ranch is missing the bacon. Had my wife do an online order she left contact info. How come she wasn’t contacted before someone went ahead and made the sandwich that’s missing a key ingredient? I could have just gotten a different sandwich with all its ingredients. But no I’m stuck with a chicken bacon ranch without the bacon. At least she got 2 free cookies for the trouble.psh! This was both of our first attempt at this place. Hers has jalapenos she didn’t order. Good luck with the repeat business.

Moocho Burrito – Menu with Prices – 200 W Erwin St, Tyler

I was close by at lunch time and thought I’d give it try. I had the vegetable burrito with a side of rice and beans. The menu had a variety of burritos, tacos, tortas, enchiladas, quesadillas, etc. My order was came out within a few minutes. My burrito was a mix of beans, rice, cheese, spinach, onions, tomatoes, and avocado. It was grilled like a panini sandwich. It was very fresh and tasty! I enjoyed the sides of rice and refried beans. The taste reminded me of a really good street taco truck, fresh ingredients made fresh. They served breakfast and lunch. Nice atmosphere, very friendly, I would go back again if I was in the area.

Tortas Ahogadas El Gallito – Menu with Prices – 975 Broadway, Chula Vista

I can’t stop thinking about this place!! I’ve never tried a torta ahogada and my bf, has family from Guadalajara, would always talk about them and how amazing they are! Well one day I saw this business on Yelp and I yelled of excitement!! Finally found a spot here in Chula Vista! We arrived here pretty early and they were starting to open. I ordered the #1, torta with pork, pickled onions and drenched in salsa. You can also choose how spicy you’ll like it from 1-10, I did 8. I love spicy so I was really excited to see if it’s spicy enough for me! When I got my torta, WOW!! It was hot & crispy even after being smothered in sauce, it held up nicely and it wasn’t soggy at all! And it was definitely spicy enough for me! Omg it was so delicious, pork was nice & tender & I loved how every bite would be crunchy! Ahhhh man I’m craving another one already. Do yourself a favor and come try this place out!

Tortas Vegas? – Menu with Prices – 10890 S Eastern Ave Suite 111, Henderson

This is what I had been waiting for. A vegetarian torta! I stopped in to Tortas Vegas after seeing this business pop up on my yelp dash. I searched through the menu and behold, a vegetarian option. My next day off, this was going to happen. Tortas Vegas was so cute! The interior was bright, colorful, clean, and spacious. The employees were so polite and attentive. Our food was brought out to us in a timely manner. I order the vegetarian torta as a combo. It came with rice, beans, chips, a small container of salsa, and an house made drink. The torta was huge! For 15 dollars I had more than enough food. I honestly could have shared but instead, like the foodie I am, I devoured every bite! The torta was full of flavor. Fresh homemade pesto, grilled squash, roasted red pepper, and melted cheese were the perfect combination. It was everything you’d want in a vegetarian option. The rice and beans were good and the chips were seasoned nicely. Although my friend and I were the only two in the restaurant at the time, service was awesome. The employee who was also our cashier stopped by to check on us multiple times and grab our plates from the table when we were finished, as well as a manager. I would definitely recommend Tortas Vegas, meat eater or not! I will be returning!

Tarahumara Mexican – Menu with Prices – 3212 Merriam Ln, Kansas City

I’m really surprised this place isn’t more popular. Sure, the guy up front isn’t the most cheerful person on the p, but I wouldn’t say he’s rude, just a little terse. Their salsa game is on point- both mild and hot sauces are excellent, and their chips are great as well. I usually get a torta, either Barbacoa or Pork. The tortas are great– good balance of textures– savory meat, fresh veg, creamy beans, cheese, and avocado, and each one comes with a slice of ham, which amps up the flavor. Probably the second best torta I’ve found in the KC metro, and definitely the best at its price. I’ve also gotten the Chile Rojo, which is also excellent, with tender chunks of pork and potatoes. My last visit, I got a torta, a plate of chili with sides of beans and rice, a good sized bag of chips, and 3 containers of hot salsa for $17.75. Heck of a deal, and more than enough for 2 very filling meals. No complaints here.

Rumba Cuban Cafe – Menu with Prices – 1265 Airport-Pulling Rd, Naples

After a long day in the hospital we decided to order Cuban sandwiches and black beans and rice To Go for dinner. They were amazing. They were full of flavor, huge and did not skimp on ingredients. None of us finished our sandwich, only eating half, so we got two meals out of it as well. In addition the rice and beans were also top notch. Prices are good as well. It is in a strip mall but it is a very cute restaurant inside. Looking forward to trying other things from their menu if I can ever order anything else but a Cuban sandwich because it was that good
