I need to try the cookies everybody raves about. The baked goods I tried were terrific, the lack of beverages on offer less so. The cranberry scone was worth the trip, the chai tea pedestrian. Obviously a working bakery shipping goods locally, they are not designed for, nor do they cater to a sit-down kibbutz experience. Sample their fare in the park, and bring your own tea/beverage.

Distant Lands Coffee – Menu with Prices – 11754 TX-64, Tyler

this was an experience I don’t want to experience again. I haven’t ever worked for a place that was so racially bias, not only the distant lands company but their sister company Tazza Pronto. I was hired to work in a permanent position by the production manager but after a few months when business slowed down and the company was sold to a Japanese company I was moved to distant lands quote ” so the company wouldn’t loose any time and money investing in me by working in the shipping department but yet I was put in the shipping department at the other company and was replaced with a Hispanic guy at the sister company. This story is more detailed than I write about but basically I was let go the same day the Hispanic guy was rolled over with the company, who knew no more than I did if anything less. Everyone from the production manager to the traffic manager was behind this so they could save one of their own from losing their job.

Savory Bake House – Menu with Prices – 3008 36th Ave S, Minneapolis

Come here for unique, flavorful baked goods. I usually stop in on Sunday mornings when I am in the area and whenever I go I find something new and completely unique to this bakery. Everything I have tried has been great, but I especially love all of their savory baked goods. However do not make the mistake of coming here late in the day. I have arrived to find most of the goods picked over and I once even found the shop closed because they were all sold out! Also, do not expect to come here, sit down with a cup of coffee and your baked goods while watching the world go by. There is nowhere to sit in the tiny shop so you’ll have to take your baked goods elsewhere! Definitely put this small bakeshop on your bucket list!

Rico Pan Bakery – Menu with Prices – 58-13 Woodside Ave, Flushing

Came here after watching Action Bronson go and I wasn’t disappointed. This could very well be the best Colombian bakery around. What’s better than a coffee and a bunuelo on Sunday morning? Nothing; nothing at all. This has become my morning ritual after coming here once. There’s several latino bakeries in Woodside, but Rico Pan really is the best. It’s more spacious than the rest. It’s cleaner than the rest. They’re friendlier than the rest. And their goods taste better too. I have a Colombian bakery two blocks away from me and I refuse to go there cause their bunuelos can’t touch Rico Pan. With so much surrounding this bakery, even if you didn’t want to go out of your way for it, something you’re doing is going to bring you in this direction. Treat yourself to some of their delicious items. Their pan de bono is also amazing!!

The Café at Harlem – Menu with Prices – 3085 Harlem Rd, Buffalo

Great place to sit and chat if you want a light fare lunch/brunch. The three workers behind the counter are absolutely amazing and will cater to your needs 5 stars

Starting From Scratch Café – Menu with Prices – 400 Aviation Blvd #300, Santa Rosa

I work in the business park and use this cafe for catering frequently (so nice that they deliver for meetings). I’ve also been known to frequent it on a midday walk around the business park. Their iced coffee is an excellent and refreshing midday pick-me-up, and they have numerous gluten free and vegan options, which are much appreciated–and I’m not talking freezer burned Udi’s here–they make their gluten free bread FROM SCRATCH, and their (also homemade) gluten free AND vegan veggie burgers are fantastic, as is the mushroom sandwich (hold the cheese, caramelize the onions). The prices are reflective of the fact that the goods are both made in-house and largely sourced from local producers and farmers. So nice to have a delicious and healthful option so close to my office (and they have NEVER been annoyed with me asking for modifications to accommodate my gluten and dairy allergies and flexitarianism). Plus when you go here, you are supporting a locally-owned business, and 9.9/10 times you’ll probably have one of the owners take your order. Biggest complaint is that their gf baked goods (minus the killer bread, which I’ve never experienced being sold out) are usually sold out by lunchtime, but goes without saying. 10/10 would recommend.

The house of soul – Menu with Prices – 25 E Lincoln Rd, Spokane

First off, love what they’re doing having big band night on second Wednesday’s. It was a 17 piece band and it rocked. Most cities you’d never find that kind of show without a cover, which also means: bring cash and tip the band! The food was okay, good enough for a hungry guy at the end of a long day. Most of the menu looked amazing but appeared to only be available on weekends. I would LOVE to have blackened catfish, mac and cheese, and collard greens with my jazz – but the weekday menu (never heard of such a thing) limited me to the much more pedestrian chicken nuggets, fish and chips (which I had), pork rinds, or a few other pedestrian fried options. As another commenter mentioned, turn downthosehouselights! No self-respecting jazz venue should be that bright, let alone a House of Soul. Overall, this place is admirably trying to be many good things at once. It’s not quite there yet, but you can still go have a fun time there.

the Seafood Club – Menu with Prices – 2485 W 14th Ave, Vancouver

I have shopped with The Seafood Club on and off for probably over a year now. I started with an EthicalDeal for halibut/shrimp cakes and have since purchased wild sockeye salmon fillets, mussels, sablefish, smoked sockeye salmon strips, smoked sockeye candy strips, and smoked sockeye mini strips. All delicious and have yet to dissappoint. It seems like a small operation, but I really like their seafood and I think it’s quite well priced for the quality you get. Ocean Wise and much of it is “local” (i.e. pacific northwest) so it ticks both those boxes off for me. Convenient too as you can also pick up in Vancouver to avoid shipping charges if you live locally. I am a huge fan of their smoked salmon products. It comes frozen and vacuum sealed so you defrost it only when you need to and it always tastes fresh. I picked up from their old Richmond location once and I met one of the captains. I figured I should start them on yelp since they seem to be continuing with the ethicaldeals. Also great customer service as they always keep in touch with shipping and pick up details.

La Familia Bakery – Menu with Prices – 4622 Paredes Line Rd, Brownsville

La Familia I think is the best bakery in Brownsville, and I have tried several bakery’s around town from hole in the wall to a more established places. I continue to be satisfied with the all the baked goods offered by La Familia Bakery. Most of the items run from ¢15 – ¢25 a piece. La Familia has the one of the biggest selections in Brownsville. One stop here, and I guarantee you will keep coming back.

Indiana Mexican Bakery – Menu with Prices – 1419 N Wells St, Fort Wayne

Going into the Mexican bakery after visiting Hyde Brothers’ Books across the street has become something of a tradition for me. The place has a ‘stepping back in time’ vibe to it, and the aromas the hit you as soon as you walk in are wonderful. The selection of fresh baked goods is a bit overwhelming, and includes cookies, cupcakes, bread, rolls, buns, pastries, turnovers, and a number of others items. It’s very much a ‘serve yourself’ bakery, just ask for a set of tongs and a tray and have at it. Prices are surpringly low, I bought a fresh cookie and a roll, each bigger than my outstretched hand, for $1.50. Both were delicious. Be sure to look around the store at the overall inventory, the shop has much more to offer than tasty bake goods.

Velobahn Coffee and Cycle – Menu with Prices – 3618 W Pierce St, Milwaukee

Going to stick with the theme of 5 star reviews. Why? It is well deserved. Awesome customer service, coffee from Anodyne (at least that’s what I saw on the counter) and bakery from Troubador and Holey Moley. I wanted ALL the bakery. And bikes are cool, too. This is the first time I’ve seen a disk brake equipped e-bakfiets (because saying e-bike bakery bike is redundant). Seriously, go here. Quit fighting traffic on Miller Park Way. Get coffee from nice people. The only thing that could possibly make the experience better is free stickers. But then Yelp would have to give us the ability to give 6 star ratings.

Ricki’s Cookie Corner & Bakery – Menu with Prices – 5068 Park Ave, Memphis

If you absolutely know what you want, call in your order to be sure that it will be there in your time of need. Ricki’s bakery goods are in VERY high demand and sell out quickly. This is a Kosher Bakery. Open M-TH and sorter hours on FRI. Ricki, her daughter, and the very well skilled staff are excellent at what they do. In my opinion the mini challah, the chip sticks without nuts, and the almond poppy seed muffins are phenomenally delicious! You have to taste them to experience this heaven! Do yourself a favor and show up to Ricki’s Cookie Corner, you’ll find something that is incredibly tasty to you. On the days that Ricki’s is open you will always have free samples to try and access to employees who will answer any questions you have. RICKI’S COOKIE CORNER & BAKERY IS ONE OF MEMPHIS’S BEST KEPT SECRETS!!!!

Ciao Bakery – Menu with Prices – 304 Chestnut St, Harrisburg

I placed an order for a pacman cupcake cake this week for my 6 year old son’s birthday and without delay, Cíao Bakery’s response was accepting and super enthusiastic. The staff members are highly confident in their talents and time frames as they should be. I felt extra relaxed realizing that here is a business that is actually professional and definitely listens per our initial phone conversation. The layout once I arrived was immaculate and overall my experience is that these guys superseded the bar!!!! My son has autism and today his surprise pizza party at school was phenomenal. I can’t thank you enough for being a positive part of my family’s life. You are our official bakery now and yes I have been putting a bug in everyone’s ear to let you cater to their sweet tooth. P.S. The cupcake cake was super delicious and the kids wanted seconds!!! #BestInCentralPA
