DT downtown is a dynamite place for a fuel-up or a wind-down. Friendly knowledgeable baristas will guide you through their impressive selections of drip coffee and espresso. That said, I’ve never once felt judged for ordering decaf of light roast or even just getting a cup of water and a pastry. Also, my regular espresso drink is a little bit weird and difficult to order and they always get it just right and never ‘cross-examine’ or try to get me to change my order like I have had happen all over the northwest. This team GETS service. They are experts when you need it, but don’t try and shove coffee culture if that’s not what you want. I also appreciate their large selection of teas for when it is time for a change up. DT has become my go to stop these days. Highly recommended.

Harvest and Grounds Menu with Prices 3201 W Airport Way, Boise

Ok. So I’m a bit of a coffee snob. I’m not looking for flavors of oak, cranberry or youth in my coffee, but I like it at a certain temperature, strength and flavors. I generally go for latte, the occasional espresso and NEVER add flavors. Bad coffee goes with me like a tooth ache. I’ll complain about it all day. Airports coffee shops are rarely good. Notable exception: PDX. Button press espresso machines have only slightly better batting average than airport coffee. Coffee “barista” (using this term very loosely here) who who’s main skill is to press a button to make the coffee are not at fault being constrained by, well, the sever lack of soul in the coffee. Having said all that, Harvest & Grounds manages to score 3 stars having everything stacked against them. They are in an airport, with an espresso machine with buttons for the size of the servicing, operated by an attendant who clearly had better days. Their saving grace is the time of the day and the lack of alternatives. Way to go!! The 12 oz latte I’ve ordered was too hot, weak and boring. But let me tell you 3 out of 5 times I’ll be getting it. They also have pastries and water, as wall as cups of instant oats. If you happen to visit Boise airport and need of coffee, stroll down to the lower level of C terminals to find Harvest & Grounds.

Nova Espresso – Menu with Prices – 306 St Anthony St, Mobile

Nova Espresso is one of the cutest coffee shops that I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting! Created out of love by an adorable young couple, this coffee shop is more than you run of the mill coffee spot. The owners have poured their passion to create this wonderful (and super cute) “third tier” coffee shop, with some creative & delicious coffee that is worth a try if you are ever in the Mobile area. Coffee shops can be intimidating to the non-coffee experts, but the staff & owners try to make everyone feel welcome as they are happy to answer any and every coffee question that visitors may have! My personal favorite is the iced bourbon maple coffee, seriously the best iced coffee that I’ve ever had – this is on a whole new level that Starbucks will never be able to beat. The menu features a unique array, but if you are unsure you can always describe what you’re looking for and they will prepare a drink that best suites you! They are also stocked with yummy pastries and sandwiches from Southern National! Give this local business some love if you haven’t already!

Dark Moon Coffee Roasters – Menu with Prices – 11041 S Eastern Ave #115, Henderson

Order: Pour Over Price: $6.50 Positives: One of the best pour overs I’ve ever had, the baristas are INCREDIBLY knowledgeable and happy to share the process with you Negatives: Still really wish I could get an iced pour over out here but it doesn’t detract from the amazingness that is Dark Moon tldr: Dark Moon is an incredible coffee shop and the best we visited in the larger Vegas area. Their beans are impeccably roasted, their staff is insanely knowledgeable and more than willing to help, they have a variety of very unique drinks, and their seating is fantastic for working. Short of not making iced pour overs I think Dark Moon is practically perfect. Thoughts: Still day 2 (though we came back on day 3 twice), and stop number 8 on our coffee, food, and desert tour. Dark Moon was our post lunch coffee stop and blew us away. We’d already been to several great coffee shops but Dark Moon took it to a whole new level. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable, walking us through the process and tasting notes for several of the beans, explaining their favorites and why they were their favorites. Later, while we were sitting and getting some work done, we even overhead one of the barista’s walking a group of people through their entire process of brewing a pour over as he did it. I’ve never seen that done at a cafe before, and it didn’t seem like it was a chore for him at all. The staff of Dark Moon seem to genuinely love coffee and want all their customers to love it too (I’m on team love coffee if it isn’t obvious). While on this trip we only tried a pour over, during the course of our visits we had an espresso and tonic, two other pour overs, this insane smoked blueberry magical potion drink, and a cappuccino. The only one that wasn’t some the best coffee I’d ever had was the cappuccino, the espresso was a little dark for my tasted and didn’t have a depth of flavor that I’ve had in some other places. Everything is was ridiculously good, the pour overs all had their own unique, complex flavors, you knew that you were drinking a different cup of coffee each time. The espresso and tonic was a drink I had never tried before and is now one of my new favorites. It’s a crazy mix of tangy bitterness from the tonic and punch from the espresso. It’s honestly a bit hard to describe but it’s an amazing drink that I would highly recommend you try, unless you just don’t like tonic water. The blueberry drink thing was more alchemy that coffee I think. It involved smoking a glass, mint, blueberries, espresso (duh), and some other things I think? While it would never really replace my go to coffee it was an incredibly unique coffee experience. Honestly I think you can really only get this level of greatness at a coffee shop with an intense level of care and commitment to your craft, and Dark Moon drips care and commitment. You feel it when you walk in and talk to the staff, and you taste it in every sip of coffee. Dark Moon isn’t just the best cafe and roaster I visited in Vegas, it’s one of the best coffee shops I have every been to, and I’ve been to a lot. Anyone that can get to Dark Moon should, even if you don’t like coffee, if given the chance they might just change your mind. Dark Moon, you are truly masters of your craft and I applaud your commitment to excellence and care….at least I would if I wasn’t clutching a cup of your delicious coffee.

Percasso Coffee & Bottled Water Service – Menu with Prices – 3055 NW Yeon Ave #150, Portland

Percasso is absolutely perfecto! I was given the task of finding a water service for our brand new Silicon Valley start up in Fort Vancouver, and was given just 5 days to find the service and get everything installed and ready to go before a huge event we were having here. Not only did a Percasso rep reply to my request within 3 hours, but they even came to our location to check things out (because we’re in the fort, there are a lot of things we can’t do, due to preserving the history). They worked within our budget and our restrictions here and came up with a perfect water and coffee plan for us. We have a sales team of 40+, so during events they drink a TON OF COFFEE!!! We never run out, because if we need something in a pinch, Percasso is right there to help us out. Did I mention their team is the nicest team I have ever dealt with? I kid you not. I was thinking about leaving a review the second the installer left the building, because of how fabulous he was and how smoothly everything went! I will never use another horrible Portland water service again….because now we found Percasso! ?
