I honestly don’t get the hate I’m reading in other reviews. Seems to be about their cost. OK, I get it; they aren’t the cheapest place around. But the prices are competitive in today’s market, rather than that of a decade ago (which seems to be what the other reviewers are expecting); and certainly understandable when stacked against other bagel delis that are at the same level of service, cleanliness, breadth and depth of menu, etc. In short, if you want bodega pricing, go to a bodega. If you want deli quality, go to a deli. This is a deli. As for the food: everything I’ve tried, I’ve loved. And I have yet to find a place that stuffs their bagels and sandwiches as fully as Sunset Bagels. I mean, I can hardly get my mouth around a loaded bagel w/ lox & cream cheese, whereas at other places, I’m routinely disappointed. (Brownstone Bagels is an exception – they also do a great job.) . I don’t always get the same people taking my order or making my food, but I consistently get sandwiches that could easily be two meals. And the ingredients are so fresh! I’ll post a pic of my last bagel w/ lox, cream cheese, red onion, & tomato and you can see what I mean. Cleanliness, organization, amount of choice: all great, in my opinion. Whatever shortcomings their other stores may have, I don’t know. This is the one I go to.

New York Bagel & Deli – Menu with Prices – 3720 W Lake Rd, Erie

I cannot rate this place highly enough. The customer service was fantastic and our breakfast sandwiches were so delicious. My boyfriend and I both had an egg, cheese, and sausage veggie bagel. After we checked out, we saw the immense selection of homemade cream cheese and decided to order another plain bagel to try the cream cheese. She gave us extra bagels. We joked with them that we would drive the whole way to Erie (from Altoona, PA) just for a bagel but we think now after trying the cream cheese we really would, haha! What better way to word this review than to say, “Would Drive 4 hours for these bagels.” 10/10

Gib’s New York Bagels – Menu with Prices – 1112 Oakridge Dr, Fort Collins

We had enjoyed take-out bagels from Gibâ??s Bagels & Deli, but had not eaten there. So we stopped in for lunch. The coffee crowd and lunch crowd were gathering at noon. In addition to many kinds of New York style bagels and spreads, they offer bagel sandwiches and salads. My wife had the smoked salmon bagel sandwich which made a satisfying and hearty lunch. I had a hot pastrami & Swiss bagel sandwich â?? a full flavored and filling lunch. Gibâ??s is a friendly place to pick up bagels or to relax and enjoy a good deli sandwich.

Gib’s New York Bagels – Menu with Prices – 2531 S Shields St # 2E, Fort Collins

I am not sure how there are even bad reviews here. I have been coming here for over 20 years and the bagels are always on point, fresh, and delicious! I’ve never had a bad bagel here and the service is usually very good. The line can back up and be longer at times but that’s because the food is so delicious. My favorite bagel here is the everything bagel but really they’re all delicious. Their homemade cream cheese is our wonderful and the atmosphere is cozy and nice. The best deal is to get the Gib’s dozen which is actually 13 bagels. There are also have wonderful sandwiches, bagel knots, coffee, tea, as well as juices and soft drinks. This is the original Gib’s Bagels and my favorite. All the locations are good but I prefer this location. Parking is ample and there’s always tons of variety. If you’ve never been to a Gib’s Bagels, then do yourself a favor and head over. If you’ve been but haven’t in a awhile, go back and eat a tasty bagel.

East Coast Bagel – Menu with Prices – 14370 Culver Dr, Irvine

This is by far the best bagel shop in Orange County. As a NJ native and a total bagel snob I can tell you that most bagels out here are just rolls with holes in them. They don’t have to correct texture, chewiness, or flavor. East Coast Bagels is the best bagel you are going to find out here! I’ve done the leg work! On a Sunday morning expect a line out the door, but it moves pretty quickly so don’t let that discourage you. Know what you want ASAP, because their system is to call you up from the line to the center of the counter, order, then get back on the line to pay. And they want to get your order quickly to keep their system moving, so there is definitely a rushed east coast feel going on (which I personally don’t mind at all). If you order to eat in they give you some paper plates on the top of your bag, most people opt for to-go orders. I’ve had plain, egg, everything, etc, all bagels were great. Their croissants are a little too greasy for my taste, but are delicious with and egg and cheese sandwich if your heart can take it! My one complaint if I had one would be that when they are in a rush they can get a little skimpy with the cream cheese, and it may not get evenly spread over your whole bagel. Some may not care about this, but I do. Usually the beauty of ordering a bagel with cream cheese is the generosity of the serving and the convenience of being ready to eat as your drive off. If the bagel needs to be taken apart and reconstructed (or else half the bagel will be plain) or you got cheated on your cream cheese these benefits for paying a premium for a bagel with cream cheese disappears. You might as well pay for a side of cream cheese and do it yourself. The cream cheese issue is most certainly not enough of a deterrent to keep me from coming back to the only real bagels in OC. If you want the real deal, you MUST COME TO EAST COAST BAGELS!!

Barry Bagels Downtown Toledo – Menu with Prices – 300 N Summit St, Toledo

Barry Bagels Express has a very limited menu, compared to full-fledged Barry Bagels locations. Only two kinds of flavored cream cheese, and not as many options for meats and cheeses for sandwiches. The Express menu was not available on Barry’s website until very recently (I see it’s up as I’m writing this review), so my co-worker and I didn’t know what we were getting into until we arrived. There was only one employee staffing the counter, which seemed about right for the volume of customers. He wasn’t the quickest, but he was friendly enough, and he did a good job… although I wish the cream cheese hadn’t been spread quite so thin. Last time I had a bagel from Barry’s, the cream cheese was like a delicious blanket covering my bagel. I wish I could give 2.5 stars, because it’s decent, for what it is… I just wish the menu weren’t quite so limited. Perhaps they’ll expand over time, as they learn what might sell in this location. (Ideas: honey roasted turkey, provolone cheese, cheddar jalapeno bagels, chocolate chip bagels, honey brown sugar cream cheese, cinnamon swirl cream cheese.) I love the bagels — I just want more of it!

3 Men & A Bagel Menu with Prices 1259 S Cedar Crest Blvd, Allentown

This place was a last minute decision as I was leaving the hospital across the street. Where I live you cannot buy a real bagel. So I figured this place would have the real deal. And they did! They make all sorts of sandwiches with a glorious array of bagel varieties! As a deli they use Boar’s Head meat, which is delicious. The people that work here are delightful and happy. And I was totally blown away at the prices! It’s so cheap! Just a loose bagel, any kind, is a dollar! After I ordered my bagel breakfast sandwich (ham egg and cheese) which was only $4, I grabbed two extra bagels for later. This place was the best discovery I’ve made in a while. I plan on stopping here every time I am in the area. Its too good to miss. I love bagels, real bagels, so this was like a dream come true. It’s so good!

Bodo’s Bagels – Menu with Prices – 505 Preston Ave, Charlottesville

Best Bagels in C’ville (Maybe the World). I have been eating at Bodo’s for many years, and I work downtown so the Bodo’s on Preston Ave is close enough to work to eat there conveniently. The orders are always fresh and correct. They have a wide variety of bagels, cream cheeses, and condiments/toppings. If you want an everything bagel with sausage, egg, & cheddar, or a plain bagel with bacon, egg, & provolone, or a salt bagel with jalapeno & lime cream cheese (it’s actually really good), they have it all. And even at rush hour breakfast time when there are 40 people in line you can be in and out in less than 10 minutes. If you haven’t tried a bagel from Bodo’s Bagels you must stop by you next trip to Charlottesville.

Moe’s Broadway Bagel – Menu with Prices – 3267 28th St, Boulder

Spent $5 on salty water. Bought a medium iced Americano, asked for minimal water, and an extra shot. She put two shots (should be 4) into an overflowing cup of lukewarm water with two ice cubes. Had to pour out after trying. While I don’t mind their bagels, they charge an extra $1.50 for plain cream cheese per bagel. The cream cheese costs more than the bagel itself. So I bought half a dozen, then bought my own cheese at Safeway and saved enough for next months rent. They also charge $10 for a mediocre bagel breakfast sandwich. Not worth it. Buy the bagels made fresh at CU market’s, cheaper and comes with free cream cheese.

The Cleveland Bagel Company – Menu with Prices – 4201 Detroit Ave, Cleveland

Solid bagels and bagel breakfast sandwiches. On a quick weekend trip to Cleveland, we decided to go grab some breakfast bagels early on a Saturday morning. Visiting from New York, we knew we were probably going to be harsh on wherever we got the bagels from. As native New Yorkers, we always feel we are better than other states at everything … especially bagels. We dropped in at around 9:30am and it was as quiet as can be in surrounding area, but out of the blue rose this small little bagel shop and parking lot with lots of cars parked in front. When we stepped in, the line wasn’t really long, but within 30 minutes the line was out the door. Honestly, the menu was pretty simple because all they really do are bagels. Customers can purchase bagels alone, bagels with schmears (I guess a fancier word for cream cheese) and bagel sandwiches with a variety of add-ons. For breakfast, we wanted to try their schmears, but also go for a sandwich so we ordered Everything Bagel with Cheddar Chive Schmear and Everything Bagel Bacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwich. The space inside is pretty small and there weren’t a lot of tables, but we were lucky enough to snag one before the place got really crowded. As for the bagels, they came out pretty quick. First thing, they were a bit small according to our standards, but it’s the content inside that matters right? The cheddar chive schmear was interesting. It definitely had a cheddar cheese flavor to it, but was good. One observation was that they definitely did not skim on the schmear as it spilled out with each bite. In fact, can I actually complain there was too much schmear? Maybe they should have smoothed it out more because the bagel was a mess after a few bites and the schmear was all over my hands. The bacon, egg and cheese bagel sandwich was also solid. Nothing about the bagels were incredibly amazing, but they were good for what they were. It was a good bagel sandwich. My wife wasn’t overly impressed by what we ordered, but I thought everything was decent. It’s hard for a bagel shop to really impress anyone, but especially when you’re knuckleheads like us from New York, you’re going to get the short end of the stick because we have a bagel shop on every corner. With that said, I thought the bagels were solid and, even though there are no other options around, it’s not a bad spot to pick one up. Everything was slightly above average in my book – 3.5 stars.

Eastside Bagel – Menu with Prices – 8 Line St D, Charleston

Tried a variety of the bagel sandwiches, and boy, did they prove to be excellent bagels! They are definitely the most legit I have found in South Carolina. The sandwiches were loaded with delicious toppings and each deserves individual attention: The Screech Powers (fried bologna, scrambled egg, and American cheese on a plain bagel): Quite possibly the most perfect breakfast sandwich ever. Salty and well-fried, yum! The Hamover Street (ham, Provolone cheese, lettuce, house mayo or mustard on a plain bagel): Piles of sweet delicious ham. Hot lettuce is yucky and I had to remove it. The Ginger Grant (turkey, bacon, cream cheese, lettuce, and tomato on a sundried tomato bagel): surprisingly kind of bland. Bacon flavor overpowered the subtle turkey and cream cheese. Hot lettuce again was yucky. Will remember to ask for none next time. The Eastside Book Club (turkey, ham, bacon, Cheddar, Dijonnaise, lettuce, tomato, and red onion on an everything bagel): the everything bagel was too much, and overwhelmed all of the flavors but the bacon. I would ask for this one on plain, and no lettuce. The World Traveller (sausage, scrambled egg, bacon jam, Cheddar, and red onion on an everything bagel): a true taste sensation. This bagel has everything! Might be the best of all. Craveable for sure. The most delicious, authentic bagels you will find! This is definitely a place I will order from again. I only wish they delivered to Goose Creek LOL

Bagel Station Inc – Menu with Prices – 129 Oakwood Dr, Winston-Salem

He said: Winston-Salem seems to just give and give, and what better way to wrap up another visit than to grab some bagels on the way out of town? We beat the crowd and got great, quick service on a Sunday morning. This place beats out so many others we’ve tried on our various travels that I’d like to pretend those others never happened. The bagels are super-fresh and the cream cheese is smooth and tasty. My only knock is finding the cream cheese oddly buttery. To be fair: She got no such flavor. All-in-all this place nails it. I got my usual: a sesame with cream cheese and a poppy without (so I could put one half on the other to get just the right amount of spread) and was really happy with it. This was a great stop before the short drive home. She said: Despite the absence of a pumpernickel bagel (my favorite), Bagel Station was definitely a great choice for a quick bite on the way out of town. I chose the wheat everything bagel (toasted) with cream cheese, and the bagel had the right consistency inside and out. I liked the cream cheese, too. It wasn’t super thick, so it didn’t coat the inside of my mouth as I ate, and it was the perfect amount. We did get some hot water for our tea for the ride, and the carafe holding the hot water had previously had hazelnut coffee so the water tasted a bit like hazelnut. We managed, but it made the tea’s flavor not-so-great. We’ve found that it’s hard to find a really good bagel place, so we’ll happily visit Bagel Station whenever we’re in Winston-Salem. Potty Points: No trip to the potty for me on this trip!

Big Bon Bodega – Menu with Prices – 2011 Bull St, Savannah

BEST BAGELS! I seriously make it a goal to try bagel places everywhere I go. I was slightly disappointed in the lack of bagel places in Savannah until I tried Big Bon Bodega. First of all, the atmosphere is so cute. The wood fired oven is visible, so I’m sure you’d be able to see them being made if you’re early enough. There are so many windows, so the inside is practically all natural lighting, making it seem very open. There isn’t much seating inside, but there are plenty of picnic tables outside, both in the sun and under shade trees. I ordered the 912 bagel, which is bacon, fried egg, cheddar, and herb butter on your choice of bagel. I chose the everything bagel for it, but I’m sure any flavor is just as great! The bagel itself is is flavorful and the perfect texture. The outside is slightly crisp with a denser fluffy inside. The herb butter also added so much flavor and the bacon was crispy! It was a perfect proportion of bagel to fillings. Many of the girls I was with got The Donna bagel ( slice turkey, watercress, avocado, bacon, and roasted garlic asiago mayo) and raved about it. I also ordered their Yum Yum Twist, which is the bagel dough with sprinkles inside and sprinkled with spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, and sugar. They heated this up for me and it was amazing. It was only slightly sweet, but the dough alone is so delicious. This is not a bagel place with endless option of bagel and cream cheese flavors. It is simpler with a limited menu, but it works. The bagels are just so good that I don’t see a need for them to expand the menu much. I really think this may be the best bagel I’ve ever had. I wish I bought a dozen to take home with me. We even wanted to go the next morning, but it was Sunday and they are closed.
