The mall area this place is in bad so many places to eat, it was hard to choose! First time eating Taiwanese food. I started freaking out bc there were pigs ears on the menu! I kinda want to try them. So many mixed feelings. Thanks to Yelp tips, we were able to order without too much trepidation even though the menu doesn’t have pictures or a lot of detail- pretty intimidating. We ordered the Combo #1 with the pork over rice, soup, and cabbage and cucumber sides. The cabbage was SO good, I love cooked cabbage a la st Patrick’s day corned beef and cabbage, it was very similar… a little sweet. The cucumbers were marinated in a rice vinegar and sugar, the pork was fatty over rice and oh so delicious. Nice variety of flavors. The soup was cloudy… off putting to me but it tasted like egg flower soup. May have been the color that made it seem starchy. The light color pork ball in it wasn’t appetizing so I didn’t eat it. Tried the fried chicken leg which tasted like turkey. It had a duck spice flavor. It was delicious, the fried skin was so crispy. I was suspicious bc it seemed too big for a chicken but they reassured me it was indeed chicken. The pork bun sandwich was okay. Filling bc the dice was large but the pickled veggies were just too different looking for my taste. I’d like something crispier in there as the veggies were a little soft. Here it comes… the spicy won ton side was AMAZING. I thought they’d be fried but they came in a spicy peanut sauce broth that was so flavorful I wanted to bring it home so I could dip crusty bread it in it. I’ll come back here and try one of their interesting shaved ice deserts. I’d recommend that all workers here even bud boys wear the same shirt or an apron bc someone asked if he could clear the table and I thought it was a random guy from off the street. The restaurant is large and cleanly decorated with a modern look. I like the black and white pictures on the wall

Big Bowl Korean BBQ. – Menu with Prices – 6410 Weber Rd #19, Corpus Christi

I have to admit that I didn’t expect much from this Korean joint in a beach town. It’s located in a nondescript strip mall, but even you walk in the owner is friendly and helpful. Both kids ordered the dom katsu, which comes with rice and two sides (cabbage kimchi and cabbage salad). I ordered the kalbi and hubby ordered the spicy pork. We both dediced to go with two orders of cabbage kimchi. The food was all pretty good. The kalbi wasn’t as flavorful or smoky as I’m used to and hubby thought to l the spicy pork was spicy enough (I preferred his over mine). Three cabbage kimchi threw me for a loop in that it tasted more like regular green cabbage and not like it was made with napa. I do recommend it if you live in town, though the sideboards near the floor could use a good scrubbing.

Peking Express Menu with Prices 514 S Van Dorn St, Alexandria

Peking Express, which was once known as Ho King, is a small Chinese carry-out/delivery place off of Van Dorn. They offer a full menu of appetizers, soups, noodle dishes, chicken/beef/pork/vegetarian options, and even some Thai dishes. The hubs and I ordered some late-night Chinese: Hot & Sour Soup (this was for the hubs only; he said it was just okay); Sesame Cold Noodles (the sesame sauce was way too sweet, and there wasn’t enough to dress the big amount of noodles); Spicy Tangy Dumplings – Szechuan Style (stuffed with ground pork with a peanut butter dressing and topped with green onions; these were little steamed wontons coated with a sugary sweet peanut dressing – not at all spicy and not at all savory; also, the dumplings were also a little cold); Crab Rangoon (the wontons were more on the chewier end, but they were filled with a lot of the cream cheese/crab mixture; a little less thick and more watered down); Mongolian Beef (which comes with white rice or fried rice (brown rice is an extra charge); this tasted okay, but it was a lot of onions; the sauce could have been more thicker, as there was plenty of liquid at the bottom); and, Chicken Fried Rice (the hubs was a total fan of this – light had a good combination of veggies and strips of chicken). They have a delivery option, but we went to go pick it up. Most of the items seemed to be made to-order. There are a few tables and chairs to eat, but most locals seem to just do carry-out/delivery. Plenty of parking in the plaza lot. +Chicken Fried Rice +convenient online ordering system +most food made to-order +delivery available +plenty of parking in shared plaza lot

Foodie Spot – Menu with Prices – 1032 Florin Rd, Sacramento

The food is awful. I guess I should’ve realized what I was in for when I saw the name. I even actually detoured as I was on my way to L&L but then noticed that this place is a Chinese restaurant (thought it would be a sandwich shop given the non-descriptive name). I like giving new Chinese restaurants a try so I headed on in. While I’m not sorry I gave them a shot, I AM sorry that the food was so bad. My go-to items to try out Chinese restaurants are their wor wonton soup and house fried rice (wor wonton soup because I love wor wonton soup and house fried rice because while I also love fried rice, house fried rice usually has a variety of protein so it’s a good way to try them all out at the same time). After learning that the house fried rice doesn’t include pork (and I was, mostly, ordering it for my husband, who loves pork and isn’t so fond of beef), I decided to order BBQ pork fried rice instead. I also got the wor wonton soup and a dinner combo of broccoli beef with pork fried rice (which, apparently, is just their shortcut way of saying BBQ pork fried rice). First, the wor wonton soup, while the broth was actually tasty, had a few pieces of chicken and limp leaves of napa cabbage, in addition to the wontons. That’s it. I’ve never had a wor wonton soup that was so bare; it seemed more like a wonton soup. I wasn’t impressed with the utter lack of anything else. The broccoli beef was watery and came with some rather light-colored, mushy pieces of beef. The broccoli was cooked nicely — not overdone. The beef didn’t seem to have much flavor. The fried rice was not good and rather tasteless. The small-diced BBQ pork didn’t seem to have any bearing on the rice. The restaurant was devoid of customers when I walked in so the counterperson only had me to wait on. She was quite friendly and did carry my food out to me when it was ready but, unfortunately, that’s not enough to render a positive review. The food was simply terrible. The good customer service and the fact that there’s actually one other Chinese restaurant with even worse food earned the second star (Panda Wok at the other end of Florin has the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had; however, the one time I went in there, it was packed with customers and a long line so I guess they have their own cadre of fans of their horrible food).

F&F Express – Menu with Prices – 8704 Cypress Waters Blvd suite 160, Irving

This is our new favorite fast grab meal! If you get a regular size bowl, you choose either steamed, brown, or fried rice as your base. On top of that, you get sweet potato noodles and grilled veggies (largely carrot, cabbage, onions that are peppered and salted). I usually opt for half the rice, no noodles, and more veggies! Then you can choose from a variety of meat options like different types of battered chicken, beef bulgogi, and spicy pork. My favorite is the spicy pork, but my husband prefers the bulgogi. Next, you automatically get two delicious and crispy dumplings and a spoonful of sweet corn. Lastly, you choose your combination of sauces: spicy mayo, teriyaki sauce, and spicy teriyaki sauce. I usually get the spicy mayo and spicy teriyaki! They have a $5 bowl option that’s a really good deal, especially if you aren’t super hungry as the regular bowl is way more food than I can personally eat. You only get one dumpling and additional vegetables like the sweet corn are fifty cents extra. You still get all the sauces you want. They have tons of parking and Pepsi sodas. Great delicious and wallet-friendly meal option!

MAOJIAOHUOLA å??æ¤???ï¼???åº?ï¼? – Menu with Prices – 43-23 Main St, Flushing

I have no clue how this place got 3 stars. This is probably me only eason to come to flushing. Duck head with peanut is the best one I’ve had in the whole NYC. Crispy Pork Slices could get a 4 star for itself. Spicy pork brain is the average level. Not a big fan of any other special Dishes. ChwanChwan/Bamboo sticks are the best with the pot seasoning. I don’t like most of the hotpot based foods, but this is not like any of the hotpots, malatang or wutever. The soup/sauce here is more like spicy marinated soups (??), which tasted more gentle and peaceful (I know it is a weird word to use here but it’s true). My personal favorite chwanchwan would be short ribs, intestines, ducks web (but they really should remove the bones more fully), Chinese cabbage (don’t take it if you are not a fan of spiciness, since it carries sauces & oil). Second level would be beef, spam, potato, winter melon. Btw, although they don’t provide ChwanChwan for take-out orders, they do allow you to take out the rest of those together with some soup if you dine-in. The left over soup would be an ideal soup base if you’d like to make some chili-oiled dumplings or some spicy cold dishes at home.

Good Kitchen 614 – Menu with Prices – 1485 Sunbury Rd, Columbus

I thought I saw a new sign on this building, and then I saw a crowd the other day, so I stopped in as soon as I could. It’s a little place in a small strip mall. Carryout, mainly, though there is a small counter where you could eat a quick lunch. Several kinds of fried fish, fried chicken, pork chops, etc. There was a meatloaf special the day I went. Choose your meat and get two sides- but you’ll have trouble narrowing it down to two, so you might want to get some extras! It all smelled and looked great. I got the fried perch, with mac and cheese and greens; and smothered pork chops, with cabbage and sweet potato casserole. They also had mashed potatoes, broccoli casserole, and a few other sides. The perch was perfect: hot, tender and flaky, light breading. The pork chops were very good: meaty, fried up nicely, with a good gravy. The mac and cheese was very good home-made style (though it has to compete with Sweetie’s mom’s pinnacle of excellence, and it is close but not up there.) The greens were excellent- vinegary, tender, flavorful. The cabbage was perfect: not overcooked, and a few other veggies thrown in for color. The sweet potatoes were so good I had to slow myself down. Service was friendly and fast. Prices are very reasonable- we got all that for under $20, and it was plenty. We’ll be back. Even though Sweetie is averse to “shacks” (I told her it’s in a strip mall, not a shack; she was unimpressed.)

Mr.Thai Bistro – Menu with Prices – 785 W Warner Rd #103, Gilbert

Yummy, the best Thai food I’ve had thus far! Stopped by for dinner during the week and we were the only ones dining in. The server (he might be the owner) quickly told us to pick a table and he dropped off the menus. There were a lot of yummy dishes to look from so we ended up ordering three to share. We ordered a chicken fried rice, a tom yum soup, and a chicken veggie delight dish. All with medium spice. He said they had three different spice levels. The soup came out first and it was piping hot. It was severed to us in a hot pot with the flame lit inside. The soup was really good but it was really really spicy. The broth is delicious. The chicken fried rice has got to be one of the best ones I’ve ever tasted! It was so good! The chicken veggie delight was also really good and had a unique flavor. Ugh my mouth is watering at the moment… The server was great and friendly! We will definitely be back!

Mama’s Kitchen Taiwanese Food – Menu with Prices – 10820 Abbotts Bridge Rd, Duluth

My absolute favorite ever since I moved to John’s Creek. They have not disappointed me yet! (Located inside johns creek hmart food court, alllll the way in the corner) Seafood noodle soup (spicy or not spicy) – delicious and portion is pretty big! All their noodles soups a pretty good. My fav is the seafood. They also have beef, pork and preserved veggie and with option of regular noodle or rice noodle. Fried pork chop on rice – portion is huge and pork chop is seasoned very well. Very savory dish Boiled pork dumplings – very flavorful and bursting with juice and meat inside Taiwanese style spicy boiled fish – slightly pricier than their other menu items, but worth it. Very aromatic and delicious Taiwanese rice noodle (curry or regular) – also a must try item. It’s just plain good. Chicken nuggets: ok, I might have lied when I said I haven’t been disappointed. I got the nuggets once and found it to be very dry. Maybe over fried? But it’s ok, I’m willing to overlook it because everything else I ordered was great. A lot more items to try on the menu and they have a vegetarian menu too! I’m actually sitting here waiting on my fish dumplings and noodle soup as I write this….

@ Home Thai Fusion bistro – Menu with Prices – 4275 Concours St Suite 130, Ontario

So usually everywhere I have had Thai food, I have never been disappointed, so we were really hungry and thought…hey this one is close, why not! I didn’t even bother reading reviews before I went. I first ordered Tom yom soup, tried it. Soups usually come with the fire thing under them, this one didn’t, so we already got iffy about it. Then we saw full cut red onions in there, which I have never seen, and then large tomatoes. We gave it the benefit of doubt and said maybe there style is different. We tried the soup. Was not good, but edible. Then we decided to order appetizer and food. So we ordered lime chicken (comes in spring role wrap, triangle shape), veggie fried rice and pad see yew. The lime chicken came, and omg it was so bad, we took a bite and left the rest. Then at same time our food came. Our fried rice looked so dull and kind of clear, same with the noodles. The foods color was so off that we did not even want to try it. I called our waitress over, felt guilty but we weren’t going to keep giving the benefit of doubt in every single item. Told The waitress we had the soup, it was okay, the lime chicken was horrible, and we don’t even want to try the rice and noodles. We will pay for what we ate. But don’t want the rest. Then she called the manager over, who was nice also. And we paid our bill and went to another restaurant. Super unsatisfied! The people were nice, but definitely won’t be going there again.

Big chopsticks – Menu with Prices – 1089 Baker St #C, Costa Mesa

Ok I got a brochure in the mail today. I looked it over made me excited because they have seafood in the bag etc. very wide variety of things to order. I tried to call in my order for pick up but the number linked to yelp is not to the right store I was out and about didn’t have the brochure with me. I ended up driving there to place my order. It didn’t look so great when I got there but I never really read a book by its cover so to speak. Let’s get to it. Spring roll had burnt cabbage in it. Orange chicken was to hard to chew. Fried rice was brown rice because I thought fried rice had veggies. Hot and sour soup taste burnt not a lot flavor besides the burnt taste. Cajun crawfish was the best thing! Honestly if I want seafood in a bag I will just go to kickin crab or boiling crab. So no I won’t be back not even for the crawfish. Thank you again for another horrible experience with chines food in the OC!!!

Ichiban Sushi and Thai Menu with Prices 7400 N Federal Hwy c5, Boca Raton

So disappointed. I was craving tempura shrimp and veggies. I called and ordered delivery for lunch. I requested no broccoli and asked what came with the order…”nothing. I ordered a side of chicken fried rice. I got about 8 pieces of California roll (which I don’t eat and didn’t order) some kind of wilted lettuce and cabbage(?), 2 tempura shrimp and 3 pieces of tempura veggies (one piece of onion, one piece of carrot and one piece of zucchini). So I paid $25 and change for 2 shrimp and 3 pieces of tempura veggies and fried rice. I called to let them know I wasn’t happy. The girl who answered (who also took my order) seemed really not interested. She said it was what I ordered…smh. The rice was soggy btw. Never again.

Thai Hub Street Food – Menu with Prices – 3720 Pacific Coast Hwy, Torrance

Torrance Food Crawl #384 ThaiHub has taken over the space previously occupied by Pieology. The menu is not so much a formal presentation of Thai food as a casual collection of presumably street food commonly found in Thailand. The Cashew Nut Chicken dish mixed chicken, red peppers, onions, chilis, and cashew nuts. On the side was some white rice with a fried egg on top. The chicken was well done, to the point of becoming almost too hard or chewy; a sweet good taste, just on the chewy side. The vegetables were all fresh. I had asked for an average spice level but probably should have asked for it to be a little spicier. The rice was average, as was the fried egg. The Tom Yum Koong soup was a lemongrass soup with shrimp, oyster, and shrimp paste. Nice tasting, with nice flavors of seafood. A better soup was the Milky Seafood Tom Yum, also a lemongrass soup with scallops, fish, squid, mussels, and shrimp. The soup came in a large portion that two people could comfortably ladle out to themselves. With a higher spice level, I liked this soup tremendously. Great tasting with a nice aftertaste. When it comes to appetizers I’ve tried the Vegetable Egg Roll, a typical egg roll with cabbage and carrots, served almost scaldingly hot, with a sweet dipping sauce. Better were the Crispy Rolls which had crab, pork, and shrimp wrapped in rice paper, lightly fried, and very tasty. Served cold, I’ve also had the Fresh Shrimp Rolls which were nicely crunchy, with fresh lettuce and carrots and a shrimp covered with a thin rice wrapping. There’s a nice collection of about a half dozen Thai condiments over on the side, though some of them run low towards the end of the day (or maybe there was a run on them by groups of people before I was there). Thai Hub has a large interior space with over a dozen tables inside so seating shouldn’t be a problem.
