I did not have a good experience at Leonardos and I hoped that Bistro would be a much better experience. I’ve read the reviews that the service is terrible. And its true. The person at the front was using her phone while I was trying to get my order. The service isn’t as bad as what I expected but still something I would think that should not occur at establishments like this. The interior is nice. A little dirty but all restaurants are a bit like that. I ordered the curry pasta and wow it was spectacularly disgusting. I don’t think I have tasted something so so salty in my life from a restaurant. I kinda expected the curry to be thick but it was all liquid. The flavor was just soy sauce. And man, that was so much soy sauce. I wouldn’t be surprised if they just dumped a cup of soysauce in there. I have a couple things to say about this. 1. That’s not a proper use to soy sauce. You would use oyster sauce for stuff like fried rice. Or marinade a steak or fish with soy sauce. Noodles you can stirfry with soy sauce but you absolutely do not use this audacious amount of soy sauce. 2. You just do not put soy sauce in curry like that. Indian curries don’t do this. Japanese curries don’t do this. Southeast Asian curries do not do this. Why did this restaurant think this was a good idea. It just disgusts me how soy sauce was so properly misused. I am not coming to this establishment again. Trust.

Kotta Japanese Grill – Menu with Prices – 2862 Reynolda Rd, Winston-Salem

I was really disappointed in this place. I may have come on a wrong night? I don’t know. We got two orders one with chicken, shrimp, fried rice, broccoli, and carrots. The other was filet, shrimp, fried rice, broccoli, and carrots. Now the meat was delicious, but there was barely any meat at all. Their sauce also was very good, and I typically don’t like sauces. Now the carrots were awful, it was like they accidentally dumped a pound of sugar on 5 slices of carrots, I could only eat two. Also, the rice was the same situation but instead of sugar they must have dumped pounds of garlic onto the rice. I never waste food, but I just could not eat this. I also love garlic, but that was disgusting, I couldn’t even taste the rice, it was just pure garlic. Neither of us were satisfied or could finish our meal. We definitely will NOT be returning. $30 for 6 pieces of small meat, no thanks.

India Bistro – Menu with Prices – 2301 NW Market St, Seattle

This is an awesome spot when we’re in the mood to overindulge. Yes, I’m talking about their 9.95 lunch buffet. Usually, they will have about 4 curry selections (including butter chicken and saag panner) in addition to a couple of crunchy refreshing salads, complementary to the creamy curries and other entrees like tandoori chicken. There is a couple of dessert items as well, I think one of them was a sweet rice pudding-like item, which I didn’t try. Bonus: naan is part of the buffet, as the server will bring you a plate of it to your table. Minus: The naan is kind of dense and bready. The chicken pieces in the curries weren’t tender and juicy. Maybe they use chicken breast and not thigh. Either way, I happily enjoyed my meal and will be returning for sure

Nawab Grill & Restaurant – Pakistan & Indian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 11277 Reading Rd, Cincinnati

Limited Options but great taste This used to be a Mexican Restaurant right next to Brijmohan, was surprised to see an Indian/Pakistani restaurant here. Decided to give it a shot for lunch. Tried the buffet on a Friday afternoon. There were 2 non-veg appetizers, 2 veg curries, 2 non-veg curries, Chicken Biryani, White Rice and Naan. The food was very tasty, chicken was very tender and well cooked, Naan was fresh and fluffy. Biryani had the right amount of spice and the curries tasted good too. One of the chicken curries was little watery but the taste was ok. Chicken Tandoori was very well spiced and cooked although it could have used a little more salt. Overall the food was delicious and we were satisfied with the experience. The have special buffet on weekends with options like Halwa Puri, Beef Nihari and Goat Paya on the menu. Will definitely come back to try it sometimes. Had a nice chat with the owner, he is new to Cincinnati area, owned a restaurant in New York, originally from Lahore, Pakistan. Since they were not too busy, the cook stepped outside frequently to ask customers for their feedback on the food. The service was good. The overall cleanliness and ambience could use a little improvement to make it more welcoming. I’m hoping they will improve as they become popular. 4 stars for now. Will update after my next visit.

The Urban Oyster Menu with Prices 1704 Whetstone Way, Baltimore

If you are suffering in withdrawal from those wonderful char-grilled oysters in places like the Acme Grill in New Orleans, Urban Oyster is your fix! This new eatery in McHenry Square has them 4 different ways, including the classic NOLA style and we loved them. We also loved the oyster tacos so much we had to go back and place a second order! The Urban Oyster is only a month or two old and has grown up from a pop up. The decor is very urban cool, all white with great nautical touches and a huge mural paying homage to their oyster heritage. The service is counter only and the restaurant only has a couple of community tables and a stand-up counter and it would make sense that they add some sidewalk tables now that the weather allows it. The big drawback is the price. A couple of orders of the grilled oysters, 2 oyster tacos and a pretty good lemonade put us back over $50, not exactly a cheap lunch but the food is great, tasty and cooked perfectly. If you don’t mind the price, it’s real treat!

Spicy Thai Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 601 E Boonville-New Harmony Rd, Evansville

This place is really good. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but their curry is top notch. I work all around Indiana and try Thai places everywhere I can. That being said, this is the best curry I have had in Indiana. Haven’t tried anything else on the menu besides the curries, but with curry this good I don’t need to! Try it out you won’t be disappointed.

Choong Man Chicken – Menu with Prices – 2180 Pleasant Hill Rd, Duluth

I’ll have to say, I read the reviews and thankfully my experience was so much better than I expected! I came on my birthday (none of the workers actually knew that it was, lol) and our table was treated quite well! The four of us decided to try a couple different kinds of chicken, and settled on the Snow Onion Chicken, which has been all over social media, as well as the Garlic Soy Tikkudak wings. And to switch things up, we ordered a side of French Fries. While we were waiting, a server walked around offering around free samples of Curry Chicken, which worked out perfectly since it was our 3rd choice. And we instantly regretted not ordering this, because it was one of my favorite flavors overall! The Snow Onion Chicken is delicious! I love raw onions (I know, gross) but with the sauce and the crispy fried chicken, I found this to be quite hard to stop eating. We even started dipping our French fries in the sauce. The Garlic Soy Tikkudak was recommended by our server and it was ok. Thankfully, we ordered a order of the wings and not the whole chicken. They weren’t bad, but not as amazing as the Curry! Overall, I was very impressed and pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! I will definitely be back, although if I’m looking for a mediocre and cheap alternative closer to me, I may just stick to Hello Chicken. But did I mention it’s also next door to Ding Tea? Let me know if that changes your mind!!! Lol!

Tikkaway Grill – Menu with Prices – 135 Orange St, New Haven

What a wonderful little Indian place, love it. You can choose a rice bowl or just get the entrees with sauces and toppings and get naans on the side($2 each). How you build your There are vegetarian(paneer, aloo, Rajma chawal, chole masala, etc) and non-vegetarian curries(grilled chicken, chicken curry, lamb curry), along with sautéd veggies like grilled onions and cabbage, along with sauces regular green chutney called mild here, chettinad chutney called Madras(medium spicy) and korma base called korma(mild and yummy!) and vindaloo base called vindaloo(spiciest) along with raitha(yogurt sauce) and others. So you pick your choice of rice(brown rice, basmati) or quinoa or naan(extra), two curries, with sautéd veggies, as many sauces as you want(you can even try them) and raw toppings like onions, cilantro in the end. Definitely get the mango lassi, it’s well-made and yummy. And of course, samosas! Don’t forget to checkin for free papads. The only thing that made me uncomfortable is the takeaway system that they have which creates so much waste that’d go straight to landfill. While I do know that this business model works this cheap because of those boxes, I can’t help but feel bad

Ohana Hawaiian BBQ – Menu with Prices – 459 College Blvd #2, Oceanside

So I ordered thru doordash sat June 1st at 6:30, the chicken was meh! The Short ribs were so salty, and too much soy sauce in the marinade it was impossible to eat, the macaroni had too much mayo, the breaded fish had no flavor, it was just salty, the panko shrimps were bland as well cause they didn’t bother to put any sauce on my order not even for the eggrolls, thank god the musubi was good cause i was starving and i dont have much money to spend on delivery otherwise i would’ve order pizza cause i dont care to save the food for later, the first and last time i order from this place, such a waste of money, such a let down.

Ninja grill poke & hibachi – Menu with Prices – 9 E Lane Ave, Columbus

Wow. This place is great and just what campus needs. Fairly similar to bibibop but grilled hibachi. As I walked in I was greeted by their friendly staff who gave me the run down. They offer many appetizers and fried rice options but the stars of the show are their build your own hibachi or poke meals. They hand you a slip where you make your own bowl. Pick your appetizers and extras then decide how you want your hibachi or poke. I went with a steak hibachi. I checked off steak, rice as my base, then you get 5 veggies. I chose green beans, cabbage, corn, bean sprout, and carrots. Then you get to pick a sauce for them to mix in, I went with teriyaki. Lastly you get dipping sauce on the side, I went with the sweet n spicy….all I can say is wow. They cook everything to order . It was hot n fresh off the grill. My veggies were perfectly cooked. I dont care for them to be under cooked or raw and they were not. These were outstanding. So good I might even be able to just get a steamed veggie bowl here. The sauce was good too. I dont like my teriyaki too salty or too sweet, ninja grill has the perfect balance. And that sweet n spicy…oh yeah I need a bottle of that because is was the bomb….seriously. Campus has been lacking this type of fast n casual cuisine. I promise you wont be disappointed here. Be adventurous, they have a lot of options and it’s super reasonable. My steak hibachi was a huge portion for only $8.95. Definitely reccomend going to try this place out.

Raj Palace Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 15425 Bannister Rd SE, Calgary

I just ordered the malabar chicken curry and the prawn chettinadu. It was soooo good. The chicken curry is just the right amount of savoury, spicy, and sweet. I thought I’d be getting just a few chunks of chicken in a bowl of sauce, but I’m very pleased to say this was not the case. There was plenty of chicken and just enough sauce to mix into my rice, and enjoy a mouthful of chicken with every spoonful. Although, I think I’ll ask to have it more mild next time. But for people that like spicy chicken curry, I would recommend the malabar chicken curry. Not too spicy, and it’s just great overall. Personally, I prefer this one over the prawn dish. The prawn chettinadu was just as good (I asked for this one to be mild). I have never experienced the flavours, but I still find it excellent! It’s an interesting combination of spices, and the flavour overall was very new and exciting. Definitely not what I was expecting. What I expected was a typical curry with just prawns stuck in, but it really surpassed my expectations. It’s not as sweet as the malabar chicken curry, but if you’re up to try prawn curry, this isn’t a bad start. Just be ready to taste something new. …And if it matters I ordered through skip the dishes.

MaDee Thai Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 401 E 17th St, Costa Mesa

What Grace N. said… Best Thai food in OC. I’ve been exploring Thai food for the past 20 years. Thai food used to be authentic and hard to find. Now it’s everywhere and completely Americanized. I’ll use one of my favorite dishes as an example, Pad Krapow. Pad Krapow consists of meat such as pork, chicken, beef, and seafood stir fried with Thai holy basil and garlic. It is served with rice and topped up (optional) with fried eggs . The main seasonings are soy sauce, Thai fish sauce, oyster sauce, cane sugar, and bird’s eye chili. This dish is typically somewhat spicy due to the bird chilies. When it’s done authentically, the flavor of the basil and the garlic are dominant. Lastly the flavor works best when the pork or chicken is ground. In almost any Thai restaurant in OC this dish is sliced chicken breast in oyster sauce with no chilies and some bell pepper. If that sounds bland, it is. The food at Ma Dee is authentic Bangkok street food. Everything from the noodle dishes to the soups are amazing. It’s a hole in the wall but so good.

Tara’s Himalayan Cuisine – Santa Monica – Menu with Prices – 262 26th St, Santa Monica

Decided to try Taras with a friend who highly recommended it. They started us off with a complimentary papadum with a potato-like dip. I always like my complimentary items hehe. The papadum itself is like a thin, crispy flat bread. It was a bit too salty for my liking. There were still a lot leftover of this after the meal… Chicken Tikka Masala: The creamy, yogurt based sauce has a nice rich flavor. Perfect for dipping with the garlic naan, which by the way is a must with Indian curries. Chicken was a tad overcooked but I’m not too surprised since chicken in stews are often overcooked in restaurants. Midway through the meal, I started to notice how much oil the tikka masala had, making the dish a bit tiring to finish. Pro tip: pour some of the sauce over the rice. Garlic Naan: A must here if you get the curries. It’s always a nice vehicle for the sauce. The naan came out fairly crispy and warm. More garlic would make it even better. Service: It was nice they checked on us but at a point, it became a bit interruptive. Because there didn’t seem to be a designated server for our table, multiple people were checking in. Ambience: It’s nice restaurant with new decor. A fine place to grab dinner with family or friends. For the price (~$21), I was expecting a bit more quality but for being in West LA I guess it’s reasonable(?). The quantity was perfect- I was satisfied with the size of the garlic naan (although I’d probably share this between myself another person next time), chicken tikka masala and rice.
