I’ve been to this happy lemon around 3 times since it’s a convenient location for me and have had really high hopes, but I’ve been pretty let down. One thing I liked was the decor and aesthetic of the place since they had air plants as decoration! The service is consistently polite and friendly as well! What’s not so great is the actual bubble tea. I ordered a taro milk tea and when I first tasted it I wasn’t sure if I actually ordered a taro milk tea since it tasted like a plain milk tea. If it had been a plain milk tea it would have been alright (3/5) but since it was supposed to be taro flavor it was really disappointing (1/5). The more I drank it I tasted small amounts of the taro flavor, but it wasn’t very convincing. My friend got the matcha avocado drink and it too was disappointing since neither of us could taste any matcha. As a plain avocado drink it was ok (3/5) but since it was supposed to also taste like matcha it was very subpar (1/5). Another time I got a plain milk tea with the taro pearls (4/5) and I would recommend the taro pearls since they are a fun alternative to boba! The biggest redeeming quality about the place is their bubble waffles(5/5)! If they aren’t too busy you can get a half and half bubble waffle (half chocolate half original). I’m not sure which I prefer since the chocolate flavor is subtle and the original is a little sweeter. Neither are very sweet which I liked. These waffles are chewier than normal waffles so it’s up to your personal preference if you like them. They also offer crema to dip the waffles in (2/5)but it was too sweet and buttery for my liking so I wouldn’t recommend. Overall, the drinks have been underwhelming, but I’ll definitely be back for their bubble waffles! Maybeee I’ll try one of their drinks again later to see if they actually have the flavors listed in the name of the drink. *the numbers in parentheses are my rating of each item out of 5 stars so (4/5) means 4 out of 5 stars.

Kung Fu Tea – Menu with Prices – 306 Hiawatha Blvd W J209, Syracuse

Their bubble tea was okay and nothing special. The reason I gave 2 stars because of their service. I asked the staff before ordering about the difference between matcha milk and matcha milk cap, and he said “it’s the same”. I asked “so the milk are the same and no additional ingredients in it?” and he said yes. So I ordered matcha milk cap and bubble honey milk tea. The drinks came and I tried them. The bubble honey milk tea was okay. I’ve had it better somewhere else. The worst one is matcha milk cap. It tasted nasty and salty. I asked why it tasted salty and the staff said “its milk cap what you ordered” and I said “is there additional ingredients in it?” and she said “yes cream, cheese, salt”. Then I said “but the staff who took my order said no additional ingredients between matcha milk and matcha milk cap before I order”. The staff said that I should already know before ordering. I was like shocked and in my head was like did you listen what I said? I didn’t want to argue because its useless. They just don’t care because they already got my money. The line wasn’t long on that day. Only two people were line behind me. I ended up threw my matcha milk cap because it taste not good at all. The staff should give better service. If customer asked about your menu then you should be able to explain it well. What if I allergic to cheese and because you don’t explain it well I ended up getting it and something worst could happen.

Feng Cha Teahouse – Menu with Prices – 2701 Custer Pkwy, Richardson

My current favorite place for boba in DFW right now. The cafe is really cute and lets in a lot of natural light. It seems like a great place to read, study, or meet up with friends as there is quite a bit of space with plenty of seating and tables. Feng Cha has some of the most unique boba drinks in DFW that I’ve seen so far, and a variety of milk foam caps you can add on (taro, cheese foam, sea salt, matcha, etc), so Feng Cha gets major points for that! You can also adjust the sweetness of your drink here, which is a must for me in a boba shop. I enjoyed my rose oolong with the addition of matcha milk foam (70% sweet). This combo went pretty well together and I thought the matcha tasted pretty good. I tried it with taro milk foam once as well and this was not my favorite combination. I thought the taro was on the sweeter side, which was a negative for me. I’ve also tried the dirty boba (70% sweet), which was pretty delicious at first. It has cheese milk foam and brown sugar on top. After a while though I realized I couldn’t finish it. It is super rich, creamy, and sweet. If you want something more decadent, this might be the drink for you! We also tried the afternoon tea matcha cake. Unfortunately, it was just alright. It looked very pretty though. It was disappointing that the matcha milk foam was just thrown over some basic pound cake. I think it would be a hit if they introduced the first Japanese souffle pancakes in DFW and then they can throw the milk foam over that. It seems like that’s getting pretty popular right now. Overall, I can’t wait to try more drinks and milk foam combinations! There is also a Feng Cha in Carrollton now, which is closer to me! YAY! Summary- Favorite Drink: rose oolong with matcha milk foam cap (70% sweet) Business tip/gold mine idea: Ditch the pound cake and introduce the first Japanese Souffle pancakes in DFW on your menu, so you can throw milk foam on top of that!!

Tiny Bubbles Tea Bar at the Marietta Square Market – Menu with Prices – 68 N North Marietta Pkwy NW, Marietta

Being a Bubble Tea Addict, I had to end a full day of non-stop eating and snacking throughout Atlanta with some Bubbles LOL. Within their closing hour, I headed to this tea bar, given that it was the nearest Bubble Tea joint to our hotel. Well, the tea bar was literally tiny…possibly the smallest tea bar I’ve seen…and accordingly, not as many options. But then again, this tea bar was located within Marietta Square Mall (also tiny). I was immediately attracted to their soft-serve Taro Ice Cream with Bubbles…then as a take-home, I ordered a Matcha Green Milk Tea w/ Bubbles and Aloe Jelly. To make the long story short, the purple Taro Ice Cream (with Bubbles!) was amazing…but the supposed Milk Tea (with Bubbles and Aloe Jelly) was just awful. Also, the plastic cup presentation for the Tea was nothing like what’s pictured on their advertisement. Not even a logo on the cup? I almost thought about pitching a fit about the tea…but decided to chalk it up to bad luck and just drove home. Why? Again, their Ice Cream was amazing…like seriously delicious. So I just decided to call it even. Still, can’t believe how one of their products could be so good, and the other so bad?? Honestly, I think the girls that were working the counter just didn’t know how to make the proper milk tea. First of all, the Milk Tea barely had any milk in it. I’m thinking that the girl probably didn’t hear me say “Milk”, and just made Iced Green Tea…which is only half as good as what I asked for! The addition of Bubbles and Aloe Jelly were minimal as well…as in super-skimpy! I also asked for “70% Sweet”, and they made the tea more or less 25% Sweet..if at all? I went back up to the counter to ask them to add more sweetness. They basically told me to add the amount of syrup to my cup…to my liking. BTW, these were nice girls…don’t get me wrong. I just don’t think they were experts at making Bubble Teas. Possibly new staff members? Anyway, sad to say that I had possibly the worst Bubble Tea I’ve ever had…and paid way too much for it. Nope…never again will I return for their Bubble Teas, but possibly for their soft service Taro Ice Cream with Bubbles?

Boba Junkie – Menu with Prices – 1200 W Warner Ave unit b, Santa Ana

Boba Junkie is a small boba shop in a sketchy looking plaza. It’s pretty small inside probably only 5 tables. I came here one night with my boyfriend because we were in the area and wanted to try it. I think we were pretty disappointed in their drinks. We saw Yelp reviews and pictures hyping it up but I think the drinks fell flat. We got the matcha latte and the house drink and both were somewhat disappointing but the matcha latte was more disappointing. The matcha latte didn’t taste like matcha at all. My boyfriend says it tastes like seaweed… The house drink was way too sweet. The earl gray base was ok but overall drink was too sweet. Both drinks were sweet and it ruins the flavor. I don’t blame them since I have a lot of expectations when it comes to milk teas since I’m in love with milk teas but this place fell flat.

Tai Tea Anaheim Menu with Prices 9840 Katella Ave, Anaheim

I have been a fan of the Tai Tea franchise since I loved their milk tea and iced milk drinks at the other locations. When I saw they had a BOGO deal, I had to come check it out! However, I never knew someone can mess up on Jasmine Milk Tea so badly…. I am not sure if it was because of the promotion they had, hence they rushed or if it was because of the ingredients in general… Jasmine Milk Tea, half sweet, – it did not have any jasmine taste at all. It was also very bland and did not taste right at all. Not sure what made it taste like this, but i did not taste any jasmine green tea in the milk tea. Very disappointed in this drink since it is always my go-to drink for every store. Berry Lychee tea, half sweet – very little taste of strawberry and lychee. I think since I got half sweet, they lessened the syrup pumps they put in, resulting in a very bitter tea with little to no flavor Triple the trouble – this drink ended up being too sweet for me. The flavor was good though, but tasted just like syrup instead of something fresh and refreshing MangoNada- this was great. Good mango and chamoy flavor and consistency in the slush. WinterMelon milk tea – Did not taste any winter melon in this drink. It was very subtle and the milk tea itself did not taste right. Hong Kong Milk Tea Coffee – This drink was horrible honestly. I was expecting a very strong ceylon milk tea with a hint of coffee because I often drink this type of drink elsewhere and make it at home as well. But this was extremely bitter and did not taste any tea. They need to add more creamer or more tea because it tasted like straight-up black coffee with a splash of milk and sugar. I hope they improve their drinks. I had a very bad experience with my drinks. My family and I ended up throwing away all of our drinks half way because we were so unhappy with them. they did not taste right at all besides the Mangonada.

Boba Heaven – Menu with Prices – 3112 N Jupiter Rd suite 311, Garland

I love me some bubble tea! I’ve always passed by this particular boba store so I thought today was the day to try it out and I am glad I did. I got my usual Thai milk tea with boba no ice. There was a good boba to tea ratio for a large. The Thai tea flavor wasn’t as strong as I’ve had it at other bubble tea places so that was a bit of a let down because I like it to be more strong, it wasn’t overly creamy, however wasn’t watery either. I would preferred it to be a little bit more creamy but the level it was at was average. What I absolutely loved was the sugar level, I absolutely HATE it when my tea is too sweet to the point where you can’t even taste the tea, but this had the perfect amount without me even asking to lower the sugar level! The boba itself was a let down, I felt like half of them were nicely cooked and chewy while the other half was undercooked and had a stale center. Overall the tea was nice to drink, but the some of the partly uncooked/stake boba was not pleasant. I got the coconut smoothie for my mom, We had asked for the avocado but sadly they were out, why not branch out she thought. I had a couple of sips to try it out. There was a very very faint taste of coconut, it almost tasted like having a very watered down coconut water. Yes I know it was in a smoothie so a solid 90% of it is pure ice but it would’ve been a lot better if it had a stronger coconut flavor. That being said the flavor that was there didn’t have an artificial/syrupy coconut flavor to it, it tasted pretty clean which was a redeeming quality. I personally thought it should’ve been a little bit more sweet, but my mom seemed to enjoy the sugar level as it was. It also had a lot of dried coconut shaving bits, we both were a bit annoyed by that since it felt rough and grainy, if the shavings were larger and more chewable the experience would’ve been better. The boba had similar consistency to the one in the Thai tea. Overall this is not drink I would get again. I would probably come back to this bubble tea shop just to tryout other drinks (one being the avocado smoothie) to see if I find anything particularly amazing. **sadly did not remember to take a pic of the coconut smoothie, but to describe it I would say it was 100% artic white with boba on the bottom, with an icy consistency **

Vivi Bubble Tea Bellevue Menu with Prices 1336 156th Ave NE, Bellevue

I visited ViVi Bubble Tea, excited to check out the different flavors. There’s a lot to choose from within the menu, from classic milk teas to more fruit teas with neon colors. The staff are happy to make recommendations and make adjustments on sugar and ice levels. Plus, there’s popcorn chicken! The space is located by Chipotle at the Crossroads Shopping Center, which is really nice since we desperately need a bubble tea spot at Crossroads. Since this is walking distance from the mall and other major businesses, I can see myself coming here again. I ordered a large Taro Creme Brulee and the employee mentioned that for this month they have a promotion where if you get a large of any drink you can get 50% any of the fruit teas. With that said, I ordered the Signature Fruit Tea. Of the two, I enjoyed the Taro Creme Brulee! I love taro, so it was really nice that there were actual taro pieces throughout the drink…none of that artificial taro flavor. It was also really creamy, so it’s great for a dessert. I couldn’t finish one in one sitting, so ended up saving some for the next day, which still tasted great. The Signature Fruit Tea was unfortunately, not as enjoyable. Although I ordered it with no sugar, it was sweet enough from the fruit, and you did get an abundance of different fruits. But the flavor just seemed A-OK, slightly bland on the tea side. It wasn’t something I’d crave again, so glad I got it at a discounted price. Not the best for fruit teas here – stick with the others. Glad to have ViVi in Crossroads, accessible to those shopping at the mall or surrounding businesses with a parking lot outside the front. If you visit, get a stamp card, and for you taro fans, check out the taro creme brulee!

Midori Matcha Cafe, Old Town Pasadena – Menu with Prices – 165 S De Lacey Ave #1049, Pasadena

I love everything Matcha! I passed this place before and since it was advertising matcha I bookmarked it on yelp. After finishing up at the gym I was craving a cold drink and thought a matcha drink would be perfect. There’s street parking available, but all are metered. I saw a sign inside that says free parking on Dayton street. Once I entered I was already impressed with the store. The interior was done in a clean and classy manner. There weren’t too many decorations, just enough to make it inviting. Their menu revolves around Matcha and I decided to go with their Iced Matcha Latte with low-fat milk (fat free is not available, only 2% and low- fat). The total came out to be $6.57, which is a hefty price for a drink. Since the drink was quite expensive I was hoping the quality was amazing and it did not disappoint. I saw the staff make the drink. They used actual Matcha powder, which based on the taste was high quality. A Matcha drink is not complete unless a Bamboo whisk is used and they did just that. Before milk was added the matcha drink was 85%/90% full! At other locations it’s all about the milk and less Matcha. Once I got the drink I was excited to give it a try. After the first sip I was instantly in love. It was the perfect Matcha drink. Matcha itself isn’t sweet, so don’t expect the drink to be sweet. There is liquid sweetener if needed, but I like my matcha natural. Overall I was impressed with my drink and will be coming back to try their soft serve or even another drink! The drinks may be a bit expensive, but the quality is definitely there. Also it’s a perfect place to catch up with friends over a hot/cold coverage or if you need a study place this is it! Update: I tried the Matcha coconut and it is the best. They use Harmless Harvest coconut water which is my favorite!

Sweet Handkraft – Menu with Prices – 3363 Severn Ave #4, Metairie

They do have a parking lot. The parking space is pretty small though so don’t park like an A hole! The staff members are excellent. Greet me every time i come in and remember my name and everything. Always have good recommendations and attentive towards everyone. They are also really quick with serving people and i never had to wait long. They make some of the best cookies ever. My favorite is the fruity pebbles with white chocolate. The texture of the cookies are all basically the same but with different flavors. The outside is crispy and the center is soft. They offer to toast it up for you if you want it. I prefer not to because it will make the cookie too hard. I am not a macaroon person so cannot comment. However, a lot of my friends love it and also the macaroon ice cream. I love the drinks there! Matcha latte is amazing! Smooth, not too sweet with a strong bitter matcha taste. The Vietnamese ice coffee is good as well. Some people don’t like it because they said it was too milky but you can always ask them to to put less. I love it milky so i get it as is. It is really strong and really sweet as well. The ube latte is good too. Ube is a type of purple sweet potato. Really similar to taro. This is basically like a taro milk tea. However you will get a stronger taste than your typical taro milk tea. Overall this is a solid place to get dessert and highly recommend it!!!

Bubble Cafe – Menu with Prices – 2534 Boca Chica Blvd suit 3, Brownsville

Echoing the other reviewers – this place is a gem. My partner and I haven’t had good bubble tea since we moved to the valley (from Boston), but this place was amazing. We had the matcha milk tea and the coconut milk tea (w/boba), as well as the taiyaki (with red bean). Both milk teas were excellent with perfect levels of sweetening (subtle, not overly sweet) and great flavor (the matcha in particular was very matcha-y). I was also thrilled to find taiyaki, which was was also *amazing* (freshly baked with a perfectly crispy outside and perfect red bean filling that comprised of whole beans and perfectly sweetened). Definitely made my top 3 favorite food options in the RGV. Will be stopping here next/every time we’re in Brownsville.

Jasmine Kocha – Menu with Prices – 3129 Meridian Ave, San Jose

We came here because they had their promo of buy one, get one drink 1.99 (Extended until the 15th of October btw, make sure you show them their Facebook post and like it)! The service is nice and they like to try helping you order. I believe it’s family run as they all came out from the back and were snacking together in the front. This made me worry about who was in the back making the teas or letting the stuff sit there.. What we ordered and how it came out: Matcha Latte: little ice, reg sweet, no topping: Matcha powder is low quality/weak and had a powdery aftertaste. You could really only taste the milk as it seemed like they didn’t use a lot of matcha as they’re supposed to. Choco milk tea: less ice, reg sweet, no topping: Could really only taste Hershey syrup and no tea. Might as well just call it just chocolate milk. Red Moonshine: less ice, reg sweet, with mango popping boba. This is a strawberry and watermelon fused drink! You can’t taste the strawberry but can taste the watermelon. The tea is weak in this one as well and the popping boba wasn’t great either, which REALLY surprised me…you can never go wrong with popping boba unless you keep it out of the fridge for a long period of time and then serve it, like this place did. Ahhh… Long story short: they use the cheapest things to serve customers and it’s not worth the drive or the promo. There’s much better places around San Jose that does a lot better. I don’t think I’ll be back :/

Jie Boba & Tea – Menu with Prices – 1014 E Bastanchury Rd, Fullerton

The lady and service was very nice and professional. They are a new location and this was our first visit. She patiently answered all questions about items on the menu. We got the puffy waffle, a Matcha milk tea, and a coffee smoothie with Boba. The puffy waffle is like a cross between a waffle and pancake. Itâ??s not crunchy like a traditional waffle, the puffs are not dense, but theyâ??re not light and fluffy; they are somewhere in between. The pancake was kind of plain with not much flavor but they have added fresh banana and strawberries with whip cream and chocolate syrup. Overall we really liked it. The coffee smoothie was really sweet but good The Matcha milk tea is one of the 2 best Iâ??ve had. This will be my new go to place for matcha milk tea in this area.
