Destination Wedding I met Celia through Roland at Namar Event Center in South Padre Island. Celia scheduled me with a taste test dinner run when I visited from Chicago, at that time I knew I had to have her cater my wedding. My now husband and I then returned on another short visit and had a cake & frosting taste test along with Mexican cookie platters….delicious!!!! Catering by Celia and Chickies made our wedding day so great. Food was excellent, table settings were beautiful. My husband must of had some wedding anxiety and said Celia’s fideo fixed him!!! ALL of our guests loved all the food prepared by Gourmet Central…they loved the appetizers, fideo, cilantro dressings, chips and salsa, enchiladas!!! And our wedding cake was the BEST wedding cake ever!!!! We also had Celia and Chickies do some cookies as a gift to our guests…and WOW…they are amazing!!! Celia and her team were there every step of the way making sure everything went as planned. I will definitely reach out to you my friend Celia and Chickes when the Hubby and I are in town!! Thank You….Blessings Y’all!!

Rochester NY Wedding Cakes – Menu with Prices – 336 Raspberry Patch Dr, Rochester

Michael is such a talented baker and I am so happy that I went with him for my wedding desserts! From the beginning, with the cake tasting, he was professional and went above and beyond to make sure I had the right cake and desserts. We went with a two tiered wedding cake, plus a variety of his pastries, and everything was absolutely delicious! You cannot go wrong with anything you choose. I also ordered a grooms cake of a rubber duck with my husband?s favorite college football team?s colors and name to surprise him… It was awesome! My husband loved everything about it ? Thank you!!!

Taqueria El Crucero – Menu with Prices – 2505 N Robinson Dr, Waco

Menu is on the wall by the cash register. $.50 extra charge for credit card purchases. The woman behind the counter is very matter of fact and not so friendly, get your order straight and get on your way. We ordered chips and salsa and guac. 3 cheese pupusas, 3 red enchiladas. Green bottle is the hot, red is the mild salsa. The salsa verde has some heat to it. The guac is super creamy but tastes decent. The cashier brought out our guac and made sure I wanted cheese on top of my enchiladas. She warmed up as we waited for our food and was quite attentive. The salsa isn’t bad, both the red and green. They will bring out more chips if needed as long as you order the chips and guac. The 3 chicken tacos, 3 cheese pupusas and 3 soyrizo Red enchiladas was $24.86. This small spot is deceptively good. We enjoyed everything and their quesadilla was so much bigger than we thought. The soyrizo red enchiladas were so yummy and the chicken tacos were tasty too. Good spot for some authentic Mexican or pupusas. Doesn’t look like much from the outside and inside but the flavors and food are well worth the visit.

Fleur de Lisa – Menu with Prices – 463 Sebastopol Ave, Santa Rosa

How many people do you know ask for seconds (or in some of our guests’ cases a third serving) at a wedding reception? A few years ago I had the awesome opportunity to taste cake from Fleur de Lisa at my cousin’s wedding in Yountville. It was amazing. So fast forward to last winter when my husband and I became engaged and decided to have a Napa Valley wedding, we knew we wanted to have the same wedding cake baker. So we set up the tasting and secured the date with Jamie. The tasting was at 8:30am, which is not ideal, but we still had a great time choosing flavors for our cake. It was so difficult because there are so many great flavors. We decided to go with four flavors: cafe ole, carmella, raspberry zinger and white cake with black currant puree. People loved the cake so much that many people ended up having another serving which I knew would happen because my husband and I did the same at my cousin’s wedding. I anticipated this and ordered for more than the number I had attending the wedding. We ended up cutting into the top tier which we didn’t want to save but are most likely going to order another one prior to our one year anniversary. I’m not a fan of fondant and wanted buttercream. The swiss buttercream they use is not only light and delicious but also very beautiful. I cannot wait til I order my 1 year anniversary cake (which they recommend over saving the top tier)! Too bad we have to wait a year because our wedding was last weekend!

Paula Jacqueline – Menu with Prices – 4151 N Marshall Way #8, Scottsdale

I’ve been meaning to write this review for over 9 months! We found PJ through our wedding planner, Sip & Twirl, and after trying out some cakes at other places we found ourselves (always trust your wedding planner) PJ was the no-brainer choice. Her cakes are so freaking good I could literally eat one every single day. In fact, my husband loved our wedding cake so much that he’s been begging to go back to PJ just for some cupcakes every single weekend since. We went for a two-tiered lemon cake with raspberry compote (I think it was compote?) and let me tell you, it was seriously the best cake I’ve ever had. You know when you sometimes go to a wedding and you get the pleasure of eating a slice of cake for dessert, only to find that fondant tastes like legit glue and the cake itself is dry and bland? I really didn’t want that for our wedding, and we got quite the opposite. Not to mention, her prices are insanely reasonable! I think we payed a total of $200 on our two-tiered cake, where other places were trying to charge us literally triple that. I highly HIGHLY encourage anyone who’s getting married to at least go in for a tasting. You will not be sorry, and I guarantee you it will be better than anywhere you choose to go.

Specialty Cakes – Menu with Prices – 1560 Wabash Ave, Springfield

If you want the best cake for your event, check out Specialty Cakes! They offer so much more than just cake but for our wedding we were looking specifically for cake. Cake tasting is probably the most exciting and anticipated event during the planning process! Specialty Cakes delivered with excellent flavor, presentation, easy process, and wonderful workers! Even though we all wanted to go taste more cake, we knew in the first few bites that we were sold. Who says a wedding cake has to be a boring white and chocolate cake? This place offers so many great options. My husband and I couldnâ??t make up our minds, so our wedding cake included 4 different flavors, White, Lemon, Strawberry, and Banana! They also made us an amazing Rumchata adult sheet cake and a Spice/Red Velvet sheet cake for all of us to enjoy! Our guests were incredibly happy with all of the options and raved about the flavor and design of our cake. We could not be happier with our decision on working with Specialty Cakes, they were tremendous with our whole wedding!

Cake You Happy – Menu with Prices – 7248 Blue Falls Cir, Reno

We knew we wanted a wedding cake because my husband loves wedding cake. (No, seriously, that was the only reason I could drag him to weddings as my date before we got married.) We didn’t want some huge elaborate affair that cost thousands of dollars – just a simple cake that looked (and tasted) like a wedding cake. We met with Cheryl and gave her our topper. We also tasted and picked our cake and which style we wanted from her specials. I brought along some of the (fake) flowers we were using in arrangements so she could get an idea of the style. And then we left it all in her hands. The cake was delivered at the wedding venue perfectly on time and it was amazing! Cheryl went above and beyond in creating a cake for us that fit our wedding perfectly and tasted incredible! Any time we need fancy cakes she will be our baker of choice.

El Viejito Mexican Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 4722 S Broadway, Wichita

Yes! Yes! Yes! I pulled this place up and saw that they had full five stars on Yelp, I see why! We came in late on a Friday and their Night Rush was over – not another table in sight! Usually I would expect mediocre service that is rushed in efforts for us to rush and get out of there, but I was surprised and greeted with quite the contrary. We were welcomed with bright warming smiles and an amazing greeting instantly making our long night worth it. Just judging by the chips and salsa I knew the food was going to be fire! We were given an original salsa and also a green creamy avocado salsa, both were meal worthy themselves. As for the meals, I ordered the cheese enchiladas with tomatillo sauce and my husband order cheese enchiladas with cheese sauce. They both came out exactly to order, everything was great! No rush, no wait, everything we needed for us to be on vacation looking for a restaurant open with a small toddler. Definitely will be coming back anytime I’m in Wichita!!!

Ashley Cakes – Menu with Prices – BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, 954 Broadhaven Dr, Raleigh

I could NOT be happier with the absolutely delectable, gorgeous cake that Ashley baked for my and my husband’s wedding! Ashley made the entire process of ordering, designing, and delivering the cake a breeze, and the cake was the most delicious we have ever had. I got so many compliments throughout the night on the cake, and more than one person remarked that it was the best wedding cake they had ever tasted as well! I have been to a lot of weddings, and a lot of the time the cake will look nice on the outside but taste pretty bad. Ashley’s cake was breathtaking on the outside and tasted divine! We choose the lemon, strawberry, and snickerdoodle flavors, but all of the flavors we tasted were awesome. You can’t go wrong ordering from Ashley!

Moon Maiden?s Delights – Menu with Prices – 112 W Main St suite 12, Charlottesville

My husband and I needed a vegan wedding cake for our wedding in May 2019, and we approached Sidney, having had her yummy vegan treats both at the Charlottesville farmer’s market and at her bakery. (As of May 2019, she was also the only baker in the Charlottesville area who could do a vegan wedding cake, at least according to my research — go Sidney!) We had a three tier cake with lemon poppyseed cake and lemon icing for the outer two tiers and almond cake and maple pecan icing for the middle tier. Those flavor combinations might sound a little weird, but they were incredible! Apart from the flavors, I absolutely loved the fresh flowers from a local florist adorning the cake. But what I appreciated most about my wedding cake was that I could fully enjoy it without feeling heavy after eating it, because it was actually healthy! I am sensitive to sugar, and I can crash pretty quickly after bakery treats, especially ones with icing. I didn’t want that to happen at my wedding. I also didn’t want icing, in particular, made of vegan butter, which is just a bunch of oil and shortening. Sidney’s cake was delicious and indulgent and beautiful, but healthy and uplifting at the same time! I didn’t have to compromise.

La Cocina de Martha – Menu with Prices – 3003 Montana Ave, El Paso

My boyfriend and I have tried so many Mexican restaurants while in El Paso, and we both agree that the salsa here is hands-down the best! Martha, the charming and cheerful owner, was actually surprised we liked it so much! It doesn’t have much heat and it’s packed with flavor, and with the homemade chips, it’s out of this world. I absolutely loved my chile rellenos dish, which came with rice and beans and tortillas. They weren’t too oily like other places, and I even loved the sauce which was kind of a cheese sauce with peppers. Fantastic! My boyfriend got the cheese enchiladas, which he flavored up with the salsa, but the child rellenos are what stole the show. They are incredible!

MacKenzies Cafe & Bakery – Menu with Prices – 4426 W Main St, Kalamazoo

Twenty years ago when my husband and I tasted our wedding cake he promised me that if MacKenzies was still open on our 20th Anniversary we would reorder the same cake because it was THAT amazing. The small top cake that we froze to enjoy on our 1st Anniversary was still better than any cake we had ever eaten. Twenty years later, I called MacKenzies, emailed pictures of our original cake and a few weeks later my husband and I drove 3 hours to pick it up and 3 hours home. Seeing it again brought tears to my eyes. We invited friends out to dinner and allowed everyone to enjoy our Wedding/Anniversary cake with us. Of course, it was everything we had been waiting for! ? Thank You for living up to our expectations and for helping my amazing husband keep the second most important promise he made that day.
