I grew up in Mexico City and I know literally dozens of good seafood restaurants, from good to excellent ones and this little place offer if not the best one of the all time best shrimp cocktails I ever came across itâ??s exactly the true representation of what a cocktail should be in terms of flavoring, quantity and the exact ingredients, they use the small shrimp not chunks of large shrimp like many or all places out there, always fresh and they donâ??t give you lots of tomato and onion to fill your cup, itâ??s fully FULL of shrimp, Iâ??ve been looking for years a place like this one, they beat by far Dirty Als lupe cocktail, please keep doing this amazing business because I will be eating great cocktails all the years you will be operating.

Paloma Bar de Tapas – Menu with Prices – 805 Chestnut St, Chattanooga

We were very glad we tried Paloma. Large selection of Spanish wine, vermouth, cocktails, and beer. We tried multiple cocktails. The agua de Valencia tasted like a stepped up mimosa. Lots of fresh orange flavor. The Reina Isabel was a good summer drink, light and refreshing and easy to drink. My favorite was the Inquisition. Very balanced and delicious. It tasted a little bit more like a fall drink, but I could enjoy that cocktail any time of year. We also tried a variety of food dishes. The Mediterranean salad was great, with fresh burrata cheese. Think more of caprese than salad though. The octopus was exquisite! My wife was nervous, but it turned out to be both of our favorite. Not tough or chewy in any way. The shrimp came in as a very close second. Lots of flavor, extremely delicious. We wish it had four shrimp because three was a little bit harder to split, but totally worth it. The marinated anchovies were yummy, but we asked for some crostini to give a little crunch, otherwise it’s only one texture. The seared beef and red onion marmalade had nice pieces of beef, but I thought it was a little heavy handed on the pepper. The squash blossoms sounded good, but they were out. The only dish we really didn’t like was the roasted summer vegetables. Not a lot of flavor, just kind of cold and gloppy. Otherwise I would’ve given five stars. We will definitely go back to try more things.

Rene?s Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 9310 W Central Ave, Wichita

Never again will I ever go back. I’ve gone to this location off and on since they have opened. Some hits, some misses. But enough hits that it keeps me coming back. One of my favorite thing to get is shrimp cocktail. In all the times I’ve gotten it, it has been pretty consistent. But this was by far the worse I had ever seen. I ordered through the drive thru. As soon as I opened it up when I got home, I could tell it looked different. It looked like as if though it was a cup full of pico and salsa. Typically, their shrimp cocktail has more of a tomato sauce consistency with bits of tomatoes, onions, avocados, etc. Nope, not this time. Straight up pico with some shrimp in it. I kept eating thinking maybe they changed up the way they make it. As I’m eating it, I get bits of soggy chips. Kept going not thinking too much about. Until I realized, I don’t eat my shrimp cocktail with chips. I had been going through it with the fork they gave me! It was then I realized, they had dumped a bunch of used pico into my cup with some shrimp and sold it to me! I have eaten at some shady restaurants, but this was by far the worse thing I’ve had happen to my food.

Chile Frito Mexican Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 4022 River Oaks Dr, Myrtle Beach

I give these guys props for enthusiasm. This small corner plaza Mexican spot is nice enough inside with high ceilings and decent decor. They seemed either a bit shot staffed or just don’t have their routine quite down yet. After seating, service was quick with the drinks and chips/salsa. We added a small cheese dip. I had the shrimp cocktail at a little over $14. My companion had chicken quesadillas with beans and rice. Main dishes took quite a while to table. The shrimp cocktail arrived from the back. Then chef prepped the quesadillas on the open grill within view in quick time. I’m not sure the thought process on the shrimp cocktail. Served in a giant margarita glass, plenty of diced shrimp pieces are mixed in a red ‘cocktail’ sauce. I put quotations here because the sauce was some combo of pica de Gallo and the sweetest, sugary tomato sauce ever tasted. I was expecting salsa or typical cocktail sauce served American style. This sugary sauce, unfortunately, made the dish inedible. As for the chicken quesadillas, they too were off flavor for Mexican fare. Here, the chicken had a smoky-sweet, almost bar-b-que flavor and not an expected chili, garlic, celantro, cummin, etc. No onion, pepper, grill flavor. No sour cream or cheese. So, again, a dissatisfying dish. When asked, we provided feedback and the server (likely owner) removed the cocktail charge (we didn’t ask). That was nice as he saw we at little of either dish. Sorry for the negative review, but these are my realistic comments based on the food served.

Genesis Decorations and Cakes Menu with Prices 4322 4th St NW, Albuquerque

Lupe and her team are incredible! She decorated our wedding, and provided our wedding cake. We can’t say enough just how much we appreciate everything she did for us. The work was exquisite. The number of compliments we received on the decor and the cake continue coming in. She is professional, attentive, and accommodating. Mostly though we loved how personable she is-she really feels like part of the family. You will not go wrong by securing her services. Thank you Lupe!!

Lonchera Mariscos El Gordo – Menu with Prices – 370 E St Ste B, Chula Vista

I was a bit weary trying out this place as it only had 1 review. It was the only one opened at 7pm on a Sunday in the area so I decided to go for it and fulfill my craving. I don’t regret my decision one bit. Shrimp cocktail – amazing taste! I would have to say this is one of the better ones I’ve had from a mariscos truck. Filled to the very brim. 7 mares soup – basically still boiling by the time you get home! Good seafood selection and they definitely don’t hold back in the amount they give. Shrimp chipotle taco – simple & exactly as is. Shrimp and chipotle. Very flavorful. They have good deals throughout the week too. Monday – 2 tostadas de ceviche for $4.50 + 2 medium cocktails for $16. Tuesday – 89 cent fish tacos Wednesday – gobernador, enchilado de Cameron & marlin tacos 2 for $6. Thursday – same deal as Wednesday + medium cocktails 2 for $16 & $2 shrimp taco. Family Sunday – $2 Shrimp tacos & ceviche de pescado 2 for $4.50. Safe to say, I’ll be back in no time.

Mr. Clamato Menu with Prices Corner of Niles and, Isabell Rd, Bakersfield

– There’s been a lot of hype about this place omg Snapchat and instagram so finally now that one has moved to niles I just happen to want shrimp & bam it was right there . So I stopped , I told the guy it was my first time but I just wanted shrimp . 28$ for too not bad because I’ve heard so much about it I even gave 15% time on my card . Well now when I got it I was automatically not happy . Let’s start with the -PROS Flavor from the juice Is Delicious & that is the only good thing about it . -CONS FROZEN SHRIMP!!! (Are you freakin kidding me ? && JUST cucumbers? NO onion No cilantro No Avocado NO tomato , But frozen shrimp and cucumbers in a cup . SMH lol ANYONE who makes shrimp cocktail knows this is ridiculous, after all the hype ? The shrimp tasted like nothing. Anyone who has eaten some frozen shrimp knows some have no taste and that’s exactly what I got . NO TASTE only thing that gives it taste is the juice and that barely helps . Honestly it’s not even worth the price & I don’t mind paying money for good food . But this CRAP is complete disappointment. && after I posted it on snap everyone said the same thing , STARTED out good & NOW it’s CRAP! The mix is & probably wouldn’t be so upset & probably would taste better WITHOUT FROZEN SHRIMP ! && I had to use the cheater Mr. Clamato because niles isn’t on there

The Tatarian – Menu with Prices – 4024 Tennyson St, Denver

Okay…. this place is a hidden gem. Came here for a double date night! It was a Monday night, but we were super surprised to be the only couples in there at 8pm! So I must say I started out a bit skeptical… But then, our server came over & presented the menus. The menus themselves are like works of art. Each cocktail gets its own page, and is named for and compared to a type of tree… all the cocktails are super unique sounding and creative. Our server was also super knowledgeable on the flavor notes of each of the drinks and was able to make recommendations based on which types of flavors we generally like/go for. We were definitely excited to experience the flavors… And then we got our cocktails. And were blown away. I tried a gin drink first, which tasted not too sweet or tart, but just right down the middle… the way I like it. My husband tried their spin on a tiki drink and was in love. Our friends tried a fruity vodka cocktail and a smokey whiskey cocktail – loved them both. We loved our drinks so much, we ordered a 2nd round… which was maybe not the best idea because I had to wake up at 5:30am the next morning… but WORTH IT. Not sure why this place was so empty, because it deserves to be full every night! But we felt lucky because we got the best service and the best cocktails around! Try this place out!

Restaurant Orsay – Menu with Prices – 3630 Park St, Jacksonville

Lovely experience! Fun and modern, but still has an old time-y charm to it. The lobby has a nice lounge with a couch to enjoy appetizers and drinks. We had a reservation for 6:00 on a Friday night and it was packed! Tip: Go between 4:00-7:00 on Monday-Friday for happy hour. Well worth it!! We got the shrimp cocktail and mac and cheese and our cocktails for much less than normal! We told them we were celebrating our 4.5 month wedding anniversary and we got free champagne to celebrate! It was such a nice touch! We got two cocktails: Hey Jealousy and Eastbound and Down. The Hey Jealousy was a little more Jolly Rancher-y than I would’ve preferred. The Eastbound and Down was their version of an old fashioned, and it was just okay. We got the shrimp cocktail and mac and cheese as appetizers. Both were great. For our entrees, we got the sea scallops, which came with fingerling potatoes. It was a good dish! We also got the filet mignon, which came with truffle potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and bacon (we got the bacon on the side). The meat was cooked to perfection. The sauce was great. The bacon was great. The only thing I was disappointed in was the Brussels sprouts–they weren’t as roasted as I would’ve liked them to be. For dessert, we got the bananas foster bread pudding, which was fabulous. The warm bread pudding was balanced perfectly with the banana ice cream. Our waitress, Taylor, was great. The entire staff was attentive and great! For 2 happy hour cocktails and appetizers, 2 entrees, and one dessert, it was $130 before tip. Not too bad! Definitely worth it to celebrate a special occasion or just for fun!

Twin Peaks Tavern – Menu with Prices – 401 Castro St, San Francisco

Fairly mellow neighborhood bar kinda sorta right at the beginning (so to speak) of the Castro. Parking? This is the Castro. Good luck. It’s literally across the street from two public transportation light rail thingys so there’s no issue getting here car and uber less. This place is a great spot for a pint or a cocktail. It has lots of large picture windows perfect for viewing the ebb and flow of the street-along with the trolley stop, Harvey Milk Plaza is fully within view. It’s a classic western bar-brass rail footrests along the long hardwood counter with full size mirrors backing the bar. Also lots of wooden tables and cushiony spots on ledges right in the windows. Those last are perfect spots for lounging. There is also a smaller section upstairs that is somewhat more intimate, should you so desire. The bar has a ten or so taps which cover just about all tastes in beer, a superior wine selection, and the bartenders are pretty handy with the cocktails for the most part. Pricing is not all that bad considering you are in one of the most expensive cities in the world. While the cocktails can run you out of cash (and this is a cash only place) with a quickness, beers shots and basic stuff like rum/whisky and coke are pleasingly wallet friendly. This is considered the first openly gay bar in the area, so there’s a feeling for history here (the bar dates to 1935), yet you don’t have to be gay to come and enjoy a drink or two (or three. Who’s counting eh?) while you are out and about. Indeed if you are not comfortable with/new to the whole gay culture thing, this is a great way to wade in as opposed to jumping straight off into the deep end. Start by talking to the oldtimers at the bar. They’ve been around long enough to have seen (and in many cases been a part of) just about everything. When it’s all said and done, this is an excellent local spot for a shot of mellow liquor based relaxation.

The Sugar House – Menu with Prices – 2130 Michigan Ave, Detroit

So… we LOVE this place!! I’ve been coming here for years. This beautiful cocktail lounge is a perfect spot in Corktown. The specialty drinks are made to perfection. The menu consists of 101 cocktails & also offers a huge array of liquors. The beer list is decent as well, with a good variety of craft selections. The menu also offers a glossary on the liquors, Which is very helpful. My personal favorite drink is #28 , corn & oil. It’s a smooth delicious rum drink with an appealing huge ice cube. Perfect to not dilute my excellent drink. The cocktail masters are always very helpful & great at giving suggestions. When we come we like to sit at the bar and watch them make the cocktails. It’s fun to watch. We’ve also had the bartender whip up a custom drink from time to time, based on what we like. The bar is the best seat in the house, but the whole place has a great vibe. There’s beautiful decor of rustic chandeliers & faux deer heads. The lighting is Perfect, not too dark but definitely not bright. It’s a perfect setting. I have only ordered a relish tray & a panini in the past. And I was very happy with both. I definitely would not recommend coming here if you’re looking for a full menu & wide selection. Their food menu is very selective & small, but what is offered looks & sounds good! I would definitely recommend this unique and beautiful lounge if you’re looking for great cocktails & good service!

Casa Jimenez – Menu with Prices – 19171 Magnolia St # 6, Huntington Beach

Was in the mood for some shrimp and octopus cocktail, saw the reviews for this place. HUGE MISTAKE. My father & I called in our orders. When we got there the cashier was very rude to my dad. Upon arriving, I had to drop a duece, so we walked in, I split to the restroom to handle my bizz. Instead of welcoming us, (like regular businesses do) she asks if we are gonna order something or just stand there. My dad tells her we are here to pick up our phone order. When we got our shrimp cocktails, mine with octopus, we got them in 24oz cups which are large at this place. Ketchup packets, a pinch of tapatio packets, and moist soft saltine crackers. Our cocktails had a small amount of shrimp and octopus, as if these sea creatures were going extinct and they were preserving them. Also served with chopped onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, all with faucet water. I got full off the broth (once we mixed the ketchup & tapatio) more than the extinct Octopus and Shrimp. My dad went a few days ago, and got the same rude service from another worker there, he kept correcting him as he ordered and made him feel uncomfortable. Why the rude service? We do construction, and come in on our lunch break, maybe our appearance makes us not welcome? Well, I don’t recommend this place, unless you come in with your best suit, gucci belt, and apple airpods because the look of a working latino to these people will get you poor service.

Cevi Chelas Brownsville – Menu with Prices – 943 N Expy ste. 17&18, Brownsville

Tried this new little place. The hubs ordered a michelada. It included a big shrimp for $7.95. The Coronas were $3. I really liked that they give you a complimentary ceviche tortilla chip. The chips they use are really good. We got a few snacks: ceviche tostadas, octopus lettuce wrap, and shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail was tasty. I wasn’t a fan of the octopus it was too chewy. The ceviche was tasty but it’s made with tilapia:/ most restaurants will use Basa which is worse. Yuck! The good thing is that they offer an upgrade to flounder for $1. Most places don’t have this option so props to Cevi Chelas.
