The first Monday of every month, East hills community church hosts a 2 hour Storytime with Daycare. It’s amazing! It’s not drop off daycare, but you leave your kids in the nursery while you have a coffee with your friends, or work etc in the coffee shop. You can’t see the coffee shop from outside because it’s inside the church building. They separate the kids according to age levels. The little kids play with toys, older kids get storytime and games. If it’s warm they play in the playground outside as well. Very well organised. The drinks are all very reasonably priced. My 16oz tea was $1.75 and the coffees are a little more. The seating area is clean and comfortable, everyone is very friendly. There was even a child safety seat in the restroom if you don’t want to leave your kid strapped to the change table! Will be back!

The Front Porch – Menu with Prices – 5925 Adams St, Lincoln

Where else in Lincoln can you get enjoy a coffee or smoothie and sandwich while your kids play indoors (for free), away from the elements, with comfy seating a see through wall away? Yep, you get all that and more at The Front Porch at Cross the Line Church. This is not McDonald’s playroom, folks. it’s a coffee shop with music and chill people and – even better – a clean, safe place for kids to run out all that energy. I met up with a friend here and we enjoyed actual conversation over turkey bacon panini’s while her daughters played and we were able to watch them and they were able to come in and out and ask questions, get drinks, go to the bathroom, etc. What a wonderful place! You don’t even need to be a member of the church. It’s open to everyone. There are also plenty of tables to host small gatherings and I hear the playroom can be rented out (with a private attached room) for events. The food menu is small, but mighty tasty. Prices are reasonable – $7 for a sandwich, bag of chips and a drink. The girl behind the counter was extremely welcoming. I felt comfy and welcome as soon as I walked in and really felt like we were able to enjoy ourselves without the hassle of finding a sitter or to constantly keep the kids entertained at the table with us. Win win all around. Even better they are open 7 to 1 and August 21, 2017 they will be open 7 to 6!

Café Au Plait – Menu with Prices – 10405 E McDowell Mountain Ranch Rd Suite 100, Scottsdale

Anyone who knows me knows I love supporting great local businesses and it PAINS me to write a bad review but I have to share my feelings. First off, this cafe is adorable. It’s clean. It’s pretty. But I came here because of the play place. I thought, hey this is great! I’ll grab coffee and let my kids play for a little bit before moving on to our next activity. Until I walked in and saw the prices. It’s $5 PER child to go inside a small play area. But if you buy a coffee and food, the play area has got to be free right?! Wrong! It’s still $5 per child even after you’ve spent $4-$6 on coffee, $6.25 on overnight oats and $2 per apple pouch that you buy at Costco for $9.99. Listen, I love the idea. I love the thought. But it’s ridiculous to charge parents this much per child for the 10-20 minutes the kids will actually play in the area because it’s small. A child who can entertain themselves will be over it fast and a child who’s younger won’t let Mommy get anything done if they are in eyesight. I’m super disappointed because I have been so excited to go here. As a Mom who has her own business and two kids 3 and under, I dream for a place like this. Wish for a place like this. But I’m not paying $10 plus food and drink for it. If they were supportive to Moms, they would do it as two options. Spend $10 on food and drink and your kids get in free OR charge for kids to play if you aren’t buying any food or drink. Not both! This isn’t a play place. This is a coffee shop. They have to decide which direction to take otherwise no one will go there.

Nolia Family Coffee – Menu with Prices – 1004 Morning Glory Ave, Durham

Nolia is a brand new coffee shop in downtown Durham with an interesting niche audience: parents. Their mission is right on the wall when you walk in: family + coffee. The space is an old, converted church and it is pretty small but they have done a great job making it feel bright and clean. The first premise of Nolia is that children are meant to be celebrated, not tolerated. I personally don’t have children, but I can definitely see why parents would want to take their children here. There is a small play area in the shop so that parents can relax or talk while their children have fun (there are also chickens in the backyard if your kids are into that). It can get noisy in Nolia so it would not be a place that I would recommend coming to study or get work done. I try and come early in the morning to get my coffee for that reason. Justin and Natalie (the owners of the shop and parents to Magnolia, who the shop is named after) make everyone feel like family in the shop, even if you don’t have kids. They go above and beyond to get to know their customers and make them feel welcome. Now, to the coffee! It’s delicious– and all direct-trade and ethically sourced. You even get to watch as Justin prepares it specially for you. They also have Jeddah’s tea as well as pastries from East Durham Bake Shop. There are a few other local goods for sale as well. They have just extended their hours (9-12 and 2-6) during the week which is great to have them open almost all day. Definitely check Nolia out whether you are a parent or not because this is a wonderful place serving the entire Durham community great coffee!

Arcade Coffee Roasters – Menu with Prices – 3672 Chicago Ave A, Riverside

One of the gems of Riverside! I heard about this coffee shop from more than a few friends, and I knew I had to check it out. I am happy to report that Arcade Coffee did not disappoint! The first thing that struck me when I walked in was the openness of this space. There are a variety of seating options (communal tables, private tables, standing bar, benches, and even some outdoor seating), which I love! There was even enough room for a kids’ storytime session (in Spanish, no less). I love that Arcade hosts community activities like this. There are also a good amount of outlets along the walls for the studious cafe-goer. Arcade is also open in the sense that it is very transparent about its coffee-making process. I love that they roast their own beans, and the roaster is sitting out in the main area for all to see. The baristas are also happy to answer any questions you may have, and even let you sample certain drinks like the on-tap draft latte. Now on to the coffee itself. I got a regular latte with oat milk, and it did not disappoint. The espresso came through bright and clear, while the oat milk provided the warmth and roundness to the drink that I’ve come to love. I did also try the draft latte, which was a little sweet for me but would be perfect on a hotter day. I definitely want to come back and try their pourovers and brunch items! All in all, I think I’ve found my new favorite coffee shop in Riverside! There’s free street parking everywhere so it’s easy to spend a few hours here without worrying about meters or time limits. My only complaint is that the shop closes so early, but I think they are expanding the hours. Looking forward to my next visit already!

Calvary Church Westside Menu with Prices 6051 Winter Haven Rd NW, Albuquerque

I can’t even express how much the west side needed a good local coffee shop. Local coffee is seriously lacking over here in the dust bowl. I was considering opening one myself…except that meant I’d have to put my career on hold which I wasn’t fond of. If you want coffee over here, you’ve got a handful of Starbucks, a Dunkin’, and McDonalds. You have to get on the freeway for a decent local shop. I literally stumbled upon Sopo. I happened to look to my right while driving to get my daughter from daycare and actually made a U-turn to check out this coffee shop that had mysteriously planted itself in my hood. Apparently, they’ve been open since May. Who knew? They are right near the new Calvary Church where the old Hastings used to be off of Montano and Coors. I think this coffee shop is affiliated with Calvary. Onto the coffee…smooth, like butter. I mean..NO bitterness here. I had an iced latte and it was so refreshing. They have a punch card, which is a plus. They also have a drive thru for your busy days. The price is low to average. I’m pretty sure they have cold brew on draft. The barista talked about “craft coffee”. I know I like craft beer; I like the sound of craft coffee..sign me up!! I’ll be back when I’m in the area…which by the way is always. So yes..I’ll be back all the time!

SC Cafe & Kid City Entrance – Menu with Prices – 5577-5657 W 70th St, Shreveport

Jungle gym area smells like wet socks. Parts of the play area is falling apart and not maintained. Itâ??s free so it gets 3 stars but SC might need to up their game considering another local church has a much newer and cleaner coffee shop with jungle gym called Moor Coffee. Time to do an evaluation and give your play area more TLC.

Bikes and Beans Menu with Prices 1350 S Vista Ave, Boise

Had no expectations going into this new spot and I was pleasantly surprised by how cool it is! Literally a bike shop and coffee shop mixed into to one awesome place! Greeted right away by the southern belle barista and found out that the coffee shop is not messing around when it comes to there coffee. Felt like the barista was quite knowledgable about the variety of coffees offered here. Lots of seating for a group of friends to get together also couple of outside tables. My coffee was excellent and service was superior! Highly recommend and I will return sooner than later! Don’t hesitate to visit this cool coffee shop

Mini Galaxy Play Cafe – Menu with Prices – 178-02 Jamaica Ave, Jamaica

This is a decent indoor location for kids to play that allows adults to relax in arms reach. I found out about this place on kids pass, and came here twice. My 2 year old has a great time here, it’s a bit of a tight space but there’s many things to keep her occupied and not get bored. I like the layout with the cafe area for adults to relax in and get something to eat while the kids play. They have a variety of food and drinks to suits everyone needs. I would highly recommend this place for kids 4 and under. Anything above , or kids taller should not be allowed here. The space is too tight and they should have a limit on how many kids attending Or a certain age group time slot. The place does offer time slots. But when my two year old is running around, a daycare group of 8 children from ages 4-7 came in and demolished the place. It wasn’t safe for my daughter at one point where I had her play in a area where it’s sectioned off from the gym. To finalize my last visit, my child jumped off one of the high chairs which is made by hard white plastic/glass, and its tall so it tipped over onto the tiled floor where a tiny chip appeared. The worker tried to make me pay for the WHOLE chair . I refused to pay but still cooperated with him to work something out. I stated there should be restrictions for small kids to NOT use these chairs or they shouldnt place high glass chairs on cement floors around kids. It was BOUND to happen. But I’m glad my daughter or no one else was hurt and that’s all that matters. I don’t know if I will return here or recommend this for children older then 4 year olds. But it is a good place for the area it is in.

MOOR Coffee Co – Menu with Prices – 4110 Youree Dr, Shreveport

Okay, I really want to like this place because I am a big local business kind of girl but……I just can’t. My husband and I went here to venture out of our normal coffee shops. We love coffee! We visited this place around 2pm on a weekday. The overall ambiance of the place is on point (modern cafe style with comfy seats and parents with little kids would love this place! There is a gymnasium right next to it!). So we decided to order 2 iced coffees black so that we could add sweetener and cream to make our coffees the way we like them. We ordered 2 large iced coffees and they were $9 and some change. That is a little outrageous! Starbucks doesn’t even charge that much for 2 venti iced coffees (it’s about $6 something). We added our half and half and sweetener and tried our drinks to make sure they were perfect before we walked out and yuck! They had a sour taste to them. They were not drinkable. So, unfortunately, we let them have the business and when we got outside threw the drinks in the trash. Now, I will tell you I am going to give them another try but I’m going to wait til winter to get an espresso drink since most of the great reviews say that the espresso is the bomb. Moral of the story……don’t get the iced coffee unless you want to waste $10.

Red Door Coffee – Menu with Prices – 111 Minna St, San Francisco

Our daycare backup options fell through at the last minute so I watched my son for the day and wanted to take him into the city for the morning and afternoon. We went to Red Door Coffee, a place that I used to frequent quite often for both coffee in the morning and afternoon and drinks in the evening. However, this last time I went there I was rudely KICKED OUT with my 2 year old son at 845am while having coffee and while my son was mid-bite in his salted caramel donut (which is terrible and sticky, btw). I was confronted by someone claiming to be the manager that children were not allowed in the coffee shop, because the art gallery is 21 and over. AGAIN, this was 845am in the morning and everyone was peacefully drinking their coffee or eating whatever pastry they ordered. I asked him “are you serious? it’s 845am” and also “who is telling us to leave?” he claimed it was the Owners of the place. Everyone started looking at us, what I hope was in shock, that an asshole was kicking out a father and toddler from having coffee and a donut in the morning. I am hoping that this was just a lapse in this inexperienced manager’s judgment and not something worst like being racist, which also crossed my mind. I tried calling into the establishment a few times and no-one picked up, and only got voicemail, but I hope they see this review and re-think how they approach this next time. I know for sure that I certainly won’t be going here anymore as their COFFEE SHOP is clearly not kid welcoming. PS – I was trying to snap a photo of my son eating his donut, but actually caught him looking at the guy instead as he wouldn’t even let him finish his bite of the shitty donut before asking us to leave.

Bayside Church Blue Oaks – Menu with Prices – 10000 Alantown Dr, Roseville

My family & I have been in Bayside (Blue Oaks campus) for 3 years now and started attending in Bayside GB since 2006 then came back from Bay Area 3 years ago. Here’s why 5 stars! 1st star- for Bible base (practical teachings/lessons) 2nd star- for my kids love their children’s church their fellowship is not only fun but they have compassion & a heart for the kids (kudos to ALL the VOLUNTEERS) and also their lessons are in-syc with God’s Word. 3rd star- for awesome worship team ( they maybe too modern for others but for me their very good on what their doing) shout out to Kayla, Corbin & Morgan! 4th star- for having a nice & cool cafe! They serve FREE coffee between 7-8:30 am weekdays & cafe donates 1k every month on certain charities & causes! And also, Where can you find a “huge tree” inside a building & an indoor park/play yard that is clean & safe! 5th star -Pastors & staff are great leaders! I salute the staff in most of the Children’s ministry, and btw they have a church/fellowship for (special kids/disabled kids) I noticed that the the culture of Bayside was very Dynamic, Compassionate, they’re very good in Serving others & making a Positive Impact to the community! I think for me, if my kids excitedly loves to come here without forcing them or drama (they even remind me that they “don’t want to be late” every Midweek fellowships & Sunday services) then they must have been doing good, very good with my kids, my nephew, niece & family friends kids!

NOLA Kidsground – Menu with Prices – 5700 Citrus Blvd Ste D, New Orleans

We decided to check out the new indoor play place today. 5 stars for friendly staff, cleanliness of facility, and a coffee shop inside! Finally a kids play place that also thinks of adults. I took my 15 month old and she really enjoyed it, however, I think this play place is optimal for kids ages 2 to 8. She couldn’t really climb up on the big main structure just yet, but in the next few months or so I think she will be all over it. They do have a small toddler room which is great for the little ones to take a break from the main structure or if there are too many big kids around. They have a price for weekdays and a weekend price. They do not have a pay structure based on age. For that reason I’ll probably wait to go back until my daughter is a bit older so she can enjoy the place in its entirety. The cafe they have is great because they not only cater to kids by selling icees and juice but they also sell coffee for the adults! Too many of these kids places forget about the parents and their need for caffeine. They also sell La Louisane Bakery pastries – a great partnership! I’m a huge fan of indoor play places because it’s a great option for when it’s raining or a million degrees outside. This is another great option for families in the neighborhood.
