I’d like to keep this short & sweet but that simply won’t suffice. With intentions on filling up on pho for an early dinner we (the wife and I) dropped into Golden Saigon. Both of us being well versed in delicious hole in the walls, the outside being something that could easily be missed wasn’t shocking – but the extensive yelp/google/etc reviews made it an awesome choice for dinner! We walked in, were seated with water in our hands and ‘on the house’ crab cheese wontons within 9 minutes. Our eyes are always bigger than our stomachs when we try somewhere new, so per usual we ordered fried dumplings, veggie egg rolls, and the soft shelled crab to start. As the plates began rolling to the table – it was pure gluttony. The egg rolls were crunchy and fresh, the sauce was light and so complimenting. Our dumplings were delicious and perfectly sized. The crab – I mean my god. Crunchy, airy, light and perfectly fried. With all the fixings in toe. While we continued to enjoy our starters, the entrees arrived. My wife ordered Beef Pho and I went for the Tofu Noodle Bowl. Both were very generous helpings (especially for the price). The food was absolutely addictive. The broth was so complex, it had layers of richness and flavor that made it hard to leave. My noodles were lightly covered in a special house sauce with tender veggies and tofu. A sliced egg roll was also spread on top. As we came closer and closer to our food coma – Van brought over a clay pot of coconut yellow curry with tofu & veggies. She felt having been first timers that we must try the specialty. It was absolutely phenomenal!! I cannot even fathom going there again and not having that damn curry! It’s basically what dreams are made of. After stuffing our faces for about 20 more minutes, it seemed adult of us to wrap it up. We asked for boxes to take the rest of the treats with us, instead Van boxed everything up beautifully for us. She also gave us House Made Ginger Ale for the ride home. The extra touch of care and kindness is reason 2-100 why we will be loyal and back sooner than later. But it must be known that reason 1 to go is absolutely the food!! Thank You Again Van & Twon for your amazing hospitality

Southern Thai Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 3715 Patriot Way #123, Wilmington

This is one of my favorite places of all time. It’s near my house so it’s quite convenient to go to. If you’re looking for something to start you off, I highly recommend the crab rangoon. It comes with a sweet sauce that matches it perfectly. They come stuffed with a curried crab and cream cheese mixture that melts in your mouth. For my entree, I always get the same thing, but the quality is always consistent. The Thai-fried rice is to die for. It’s so aromatic that you drool at just a whiff of it. You can get it with a protein of your choosing. I usually get the fried tofu. I love how crunchy it is, though it isn’t for everyone. If you’re feeling sick, I love to get the Tom Zap soup without the chiles. It’s good with tofu, but you can really get any protein you want. It’s very citrusy in a way. It clears up the senses in a jiffy. It feels nice on the stomach. If you’re a dessert person, which I am not although I do enjoy some items, the Thai doughnuts are amazing. They aren’t too sweet, but just enough. They’re just little pillows of doughy goodness. I love the food there as you can see, but the service is great as well. If you need anything, they are on top of it. The cleanliness of the restaurant and bathrooms is much appreciated as well. The vibe there is nice and you can just relax. I love this place to bits.

Thai Food Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 4350 E Sunset Rd #110, Henderson

Wow!!! And DELISH!! Ok so truthfully I almost don’t want to tell you how amazing these flavors are because I want to get a seat the next time I come to town! At first, I was a little nervous because there was no one in the place, but… they started trickling in… and all I heard was “mmmmmm, this is soooo good, wow, oooo those flavors, the texture on this is soooo awesome”…… and to be honest, it’s exactly what I was saying to myself! So I found this place by seeing it from the street. I stay down the street when I come to town and have been craving great Thai and boy did I hit the jackpot! This place is super easy to park! The restaurant was impeccably clean! ( I love that ). I was welcomed and served right away. My food came out in perfect timing. I ordered the fresh veggie spring roll – pic below, and the tofu yellow curry. First let me say… I have had some veggie rolls that taste like bland chewy tasteless horrible fresh spring rolls – this is NOT THAT! tons of greens , mint and really fresh! You can tell it was made to order and NOT prepare 5 hours ago. They don’t offer any meat or tofu in it, which I totally don’t mind at all! The peanut sauce is cold , not hot , and I liked that. It’s been hit on Vegas… and I loved the flavor combination. Now … let’s get to the authentic , EPIC yellow curry! You get to choose you meat here , so I chose tofu. A TON AND TON of tofu and veggies. The Tofu was perfectly pressed as not to be mushy and not to be fried to death! Absolutely perfect. The sauce ( I died and went to Thai heaven ) so amazing…. and then I brought in the rice with the yellow curry ( comes with it ) and took it to a whole new level!! If you can imagine that! Whoa!!!! Flavor taste town! Service was absolutely on point! The server checked in with me several times and even wrapped up my Togo bag with a smile and a grateful attitude ? – I LOVE THAT! Over all the fresh tea, fresh rolls and fresh curry! YOU HAVE MY VOTE – again and again! You just got yourself a customer for LIFE! Great – GREAT JOB!

JJ Jasmine Thai Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 400 Walnut St, Des Moines

Spring rolls were good but on the small side. Their menu is appealing to me suggesting traditional favorites such as fried rice, lardna, pad thai and eggplant tofu. They have daily specials. The eggplant tofu dish was not very flavorful or spicy (asked for extra spicy). The eggplant, tofu and veggies were much too big and inconvenient to eat. The stars of the dish only had a few pieces and the veggies were way too undercooked. The tofu was a little dry and the eggplant was too mushy. I did get two scoops of rice which was nice. It looks like the Panda customers next door get heaping amounts of food unlike here. They do have a great help yourself hot pepper/spicy sauce bar, water and chopsticks. I may go back and give them one more try just for that. Don’t let the line scare you. Food comes out pretty fast (and undercooked). Bonus was they didn’t complain about me using a credit card for spring rolls which is unlike Gringos next door and Dooly’s.

Leona Banh Mi Menu with Prices 3250 Coors Blvd NW suite h, Albuquerque

The Tofu Banh Mi was tasty. Fresh crusty Baguette, crunchy veggies, and Tofu was thinly sliced and marinated. They offer a variety of strength in the Vietnamese coffee it came out perfectly I had no need for adjustment. They offer Military Active & Veteran, First Responder 10% discount. They have Vegan and Vegetarian options. Inside is extremely clean and customer service is 5 stars. Tiny eat in with several tables. I noticed a lot of take out / delivery action. Location while easy to get a parking spot but there’s a need to avoid potholes. The strip mall seems to have had better days but don’t let that dissuade you, It adds to the charm. I wish I lived closer I’d be here all the time.

Gaslight Kitchen Asian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 2128 Wealthy St SE, Grand Rapids

One of the things I missed most about moving from Seattle to GR was the lack of good Chinese food – there is finally a place here that is as good or better than what I could get on the west coast! This restaurant just opened recently at the edge of Gas Light Village in EGR – it’s a relatively small location, with only seating for maybe 40 people inside. Parking is all on the street, but there’s plenty of free parking in the area (Street, D&W, etc). The interior was completely renovated before the opened, and it’s quite nice – updated flooring, bright colors. The also have unisex bathrooms that are quite large, and nicely accented. We came in on a Monday night and the place was pretty packed – we had to wait about 15 minutes for them to find two tables to seat our party of 6 at. It was a little tight (as I said above, small restaurant), but it was fine since the food is served family style. As for the food – simply amazing. We had Crab Cheese and Steamed Dumplings for appetizers. The Crab cheese were fried perfectly and had a nice sweet cheese/crab taste to the filling – absolutely delicious. The steamed dumplings were also perfect – a nice soft dough exterior and then the meat inside – they were also huge! They barely fit in your mouth. For an entree I had lemon chicken, which is my go to dish at Chinese restaurants. It was delicious – the chicken was a pounded out and breaded chicken breast which that was drenched in the most amazing lemon sauce – I’m not even sure how to describe it. It was probably the best lemon sauce I’ve ever had. The rest of my party also really liked the food. For the kids, there is no dedicated kids menu but we ordered sweet and sour chicken (fried) with the sauce on the side (picky eaters as always) – they were very accommodating to us ordering the food this way (they did think it was a bit funny :)) – the kids loved it. It’s also very reasonable – for a party of 6 the bill was only $78 – they had a special where if you order 3 entrees you get a free crab cheese which, but even without that deal it would have been well below $100. Easily my favorite Chinese restaurant in GR. This will be our new go to for take out as well (they just need to get on GrubHub!)

The Red Boat Asian Fusion Menu with Prices 8221 Glades Rd Suite 6, Boca Raton

Loved this place! And really like Vietnamese food. Although they’ve dubbed themselves an “Asian fusion” restaurant and they do have a number of selections from various cuisines. Based on their card, they have 4 other restaurants in Maryland and one in DC. This is the first in Florida. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Going there the first time, we had to stand a bit and read their menu on the wall. I actually missed seeing their specials written on the other wall (near the soda case) until after we had ordered. It’s pretty basic inside but no one is really looking at the decor — the food is the star attraction. We started with a shrimp roll which is their version of a summer roll. They also have one with chicken and shrimp and one with chicken only. (I’d never heard of a Korean roll or a tofu roll.) Other rolls include a fried one with pork and shrimp. The two rolls we got were freshly made, and tightly wrapped. The rice paper was soft in texture. There was a nice amount of shrimp too. The accompanying peanut sauce was quite good, as well. We each got lemongrass pork banh-mi sandwiches. I got mine without the jalapeños or the special sauce (that turned out to be a mix of mayo and sriracha sauce). The bread was crusty French bread — the real deal — the pork was marinated chunks in a light bbq type sauce, the veggies/salad were all fresh and crunchy. A very good sandwich. Other “six inch” banh-mi sandwiches are available with chicken or Korean beef bulgogi or even a fried tofu. There’s also Pho (soup) with a choice of 4 broths and a number of protein choices. Plus tacos (!!) with the same choices inside as the sandwiches. A build your own rice/salad/noodle bowl option. Fries with a variety of 8 toppings. Toasted seaweed anyone? And a few other things like dumplings and coconut shrimp. I thought about ordering their steamed pork bun, but I noticed it also had eggs and other things in it that didn’t appeal. The “dogs” were most intriguing … but I did not fully read their ingredients. Will have to go back again to find out what exactly a Saigon or k-town dog is…. and yes, we will be back to try more items on their menu.

Jang Su Jang – Menu with Prices – 3645 Satellite Blvd, Duluth

I understand why this place is so highly rated. It’s GOOD and probably one of the best Korean restaurants I’ve been to ever. There are a few that have come close, but this place is definitely way up there for me. My bf and I went with another couple who are Korean and they told us that this is their top favorite place. I posted some photos on my insta-story and I had several people reach out telling me this is their favorite Korean restaurant in Atlanta too, so you KNOW it’s good and highly regarded. There was a bit of a wait, maybe 10-15 minutes, but it passed by quickly. The service was good, but it helps that they have buttons on each table to call when you need something. But even when we didn’t press the button, they came around occasionally to refill our waters when needed. _ wan mandu / steamed king dumplings The king of dumplings. These were hands down the biggest dumplings I’ve ever seen, and they were FULLY packed with filling. Perfectly steamed and the flavor was great. It relied on the actual ingredients of the filling rather than extra salt or MSG. Highly recommend ordering this. Also, these tasted HOMEMADE and not store bought, which made me really happy. _ seafood pancake This was very filling and was quite thicc (that’s what she said). This was great and was packed with seafood. I hate when I go to a Korean restaurant and get the seafood pancake with barely any seafood mixed in. Not today. I was very impressed with this. _ galbi jjim / stewed short rib HANDS DOWN my favorite part of the meal. The beef literally falls apart in your mouth, and the stewed veggies are so jam packed full of flavor from the sauce. An absolute must order. It was probably the most expensive thing we ordered, but it was also my #1 favorite entree. I’ve actually made this once before and NEVER had it in a restaurant, so I was really happy to finally get to try what it’s REALLY supposed to taste like. I’m happy to say, if I had my friends try it, they would’ve been impressed. _ bossam meal / pork shoulder with lettuce wraps The pork was tender, and the assortment of veggies to put in your lettuce wraps was great. I would consider this one of the traditional eats – putting meat, rice, and veggies in a lettuce wrap. It’s a great way to eat the meal, for sure! _ tofu and pork I’m actually not sure what the name of this dish is, but it was tofu and pork mixed with kimchi. It was great. The tofu actually was quite nice, especially if you mix the tofu with the pork. Absolutely delicious. This was probably also our only spicy dish, so it balanced quite nicely with everything else we had. _ banchan Obviously the banchan comes with your meal, and it comes with a huge assortment of things: two types of noodles (japchae being one of them), veggies, seaweed, the works. Can never go wrong with banchan, especially when they are willing to refill them! After tax and tip, it was about $40 per person. Not bad while being FULLY stuffed, while also being refreshed with a soju to share.

Magic Noodle – Menu with Prices – 1337 University Ave W, St Paul

Wow. This is a pretty legit noodle house. We visited for dinner one night and found the fairly large restaurant to be full with a few parties waiting. We were greeted, given a buzzer and seated fairly promptly. Our waitress was so cute – very prompt and also very busy. She answered all of our questions and tapped our order into her ipad. We ordered big (we can’t help ourselves). Even though the menu seems like it’s kinda small, there are so many good things to eat that it’s really not a problem. So we got the dumpling chili oil appetizer, which was pretty bomb. The wrappers are homemade, light and delicate, with a good filling and a lovely chili sauce that was just the Minnesota spicy right amount of spicy. We got the beef burrito, which was like a Chinese version of a beef burrito with a super crunchy outer layer that reminded me of a thin crispy scallion pancake. Really good, especially when dipped with the leftover chili oil from the dumplings. I got the Moo Shu Fried Noodles, which were a generous portion of lovely hand pulled egg noodles cooked perfectly with some finely sliced veggies and the amazing black fungus. The sauce was flavorful and a touch sweet. My only wish was that the sauce was a little bit thicker. A good tablespoon of corn starch would have helped. But that’s maybe just me. It was absolutely delicious. My husband got the Lanzhou Noodle Soup, which had a different wider type of noodle in a beautiful broth. My husband is trying to eat healthy and asked for extra veggies, which was an add on option at the bottom of the menu (along with a lot of other on-demand extras). Also – I know this is weird. Our entire meal started with an incredibly cold, chilly perfect glass of water. Sometimes it’s the small things you know? Overall very very good. We will definitely be back.

New Wing Wah – Menu with Prices – 347 Herring Cove Rd, Halifax

went here on a rainy Saturday night, place, pretty well empty… few tables here and there. ordered the fried dumplings to start, combo 4 (balls, rice and egg roll) and the Cantonese House Special Chow Mein.. the chicken balls were good, lots of batter… lacking on the actual chicken part, and to us, the batter itself was darker than we’re used to… we’re thinking the oil in the fryer needed changing. the egg rolls were good, good filling, nice and crunchy and fresh, and the fried rice… was pretty typical. i loved the dumpling taste, i feel they could have been a little more fried and the filling was missing…. something? green onions maybe? just looked anemic to me? the sauce i THINK was either Chinese vinegar of some sort … or Worcestershire sauce… which is odd. and the Cantonese House Special Chow Mein… meh… i asked for something in the noodles and she quickly said this was her favourite… to me, it was B L A N D – should have ordered something spicy or anything else. yep it was lots of food and we had enough to take home… but were still fans of Zen Chinese Cuisine in Clayton park. We made the unanimous decision to take the drive to Clayton park next time we want Chinese, as we discovered that the Chinese food in our area is just not up to snuff . NWW gets a 3, based on the egg roll, chicken balls, and dumplings — the noodles ( pretty well my whole meal ) lots them points.

Simply Pho Noodle House – Menu with Prices – 424 S Main St suite f, Orange

The other night was a late one and I was dying for a late night dinner. It was a cold gloomy night with a light drizzle so what comes to mind when that type of weather is near? Pho, duh! We found Simply Pho Noodle house closer to downtown Orange. We lucked out because it was late so hardly anything was open. We rolled in around 9 ish and there were a handful of tables getting some food as well, so it was nice to know that we weren’t the only late eaters. The menu had all the typical Pho spot menu items AND they had a vegetarian menu so I was able to pick out some items on there. I ordered the veggie pho, which vegetarian broth, mounds of veggies and tofu. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Our meals were dropped off very quick. All 4 of us got Pho so we were excited to dig in together. I loved the veggie pho. It was soo good! The tofu was a little crispy, seriously so good! I added a ton of chili, hosin, a gang of limes and it was ready to go. I thought everything was super flavorful and loved the fresh veggies.

The Seafood House – Menu with Prices – 751 Azalea Rd, Mobile

Not atmospheric, but the staff is nice and the food is GOOD! Came in fully ready to eat a ridiculous amount of fried food. +Crab cakes filled with a lot of crab meat, nice fry, and its own ‘bangbang’ sauce. Top notch. +Deep fried soft shell crab – first time having this, it was great! Loved the claws especially. Lots of meat in the center too. Breading was so tasty, reminiscent of KFC to me (a compliment in my books). +Seafood house fries – I could LIVE IN THESE. Fries were so soft inside, and perfectly crisp on the outside. Delicious juicy shrimp and an addictive cheese/sauce combo poured on top – out of this world!! +Fried crab claw dinner – this was so interesting to me, never had fried crab claws before. Very good! Liked the ease of biting the meat off. Corn was super good, okra was alright. Only wish they made their own tarter/cocktail sauce!

Beijing Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 502 Elm Ave, Roanoke

Ordered two Beijing dishes tonight from this place for the first time- tofu and shrimp with white rice, and crab ragoons. Overall experience was awful. Plus ++ -Quick delivery. (Of course) -Crab Rangoons fair. Negatives– -Bland. Brown sauce that coated both dishes was strictly brown sauce. Brown flour/gravy? -Tofu dish was pre-made (Fried) tofu mixed with WAY TOO BIG CHUNKS of broccoli. As in my mouth hurt. It was undercooked and just terrible overall. It came with a couple also raw pieces of carrot and onion. A few baby corns thrown in for good measure. -The shrimp dish was the same tasteless glob and of very little value. There are very little options for delivery in Roanoke and unfortunately this isn’t one either.
