(The Eastside Bar & Grill is a restaurant located within the Coast Bellevue Hotel) Eastside Bar & Grill has an upscale, elegant look, but I love that they have some pretty cheap dinner options. They even had a $9 Monte Cristo on that menu. Hadn’t had one in a while, so it seemed like the perfect food to get my mind churning positive thoughts. I kept it healthy with some fresh fruit. Huge honkin’ pieces of fruit awaited me. A slight browning/bruising on a portion of one of the apple slices, but everything was great. The sandwich was food comfort-worthy. A fine job on the egg bread here. Real meat! Real cheese! Lovely strawberry preserves. Michelle, my server, also was the bartender. No drinks for the panda tonight… Happy hour is from 4 to 6 p.m., and virtually all appetizers at that time are $5. Even the regular dinner entrees (which include great meat and seafood dishes) are reasonably priced. Hotel guests benefit from a continental breakfast each morning (weekdays from 6-10; weekends from 7-10). From what I’ve seen, it’s nothing extremely fancy. Mainly cereal, pastries, bagels, coffee, and juice. Certainly worth a second stop for some more great food! But I think I’ll pass on the continental breakfast here. It’s really just a carb and caffeinated medley of items.

Eastside Thai Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 879 Payne Ave, St Paul

Looks can be deceiving. I was a bit suspect of the restaurant as it appeared small and an older space. My family and I stumbled upon Eastside Thai for a weekend lunch option. Our goal was to find a place with vegan and meat options. We succeeded! Eastside Thai is conveniently located on Payne Ave. There is street parking and a public lot nearby. Everyone in our group was very satisfied with our entrees. We had egg rolls, pad Thai, noodle soup, and cream cheese wontons. I loved the cream cheese wontons and the pad Thai! I also love the option of being able to customize the spice level to any dish. The service and overall experience was great!! I’d definitely go back to Eastside Thai! Support locally owned businesses and eat at Eastside Thai! St. Paul has yummy food!! You just have to be open!

5 Stones Coffee Co Menu with Prices 2649 Landerholm Cir SE, Bellevue

Hands down my favorite coffee shop everrrr (especially for the Eastside). I was super stoked when I found out that 5 Stones opened up a Bellevue location. I tend to go early mornings on the weekdays. They have a parking lot (which is the church’s parking lot), every now and then it might look busy because some BC students try to park there for free. BUT, 5 Stones management started to put up signs on how the lot is for customer’s only and it’s lightened up a bit more ? What I get is…. the missile. No matter if it’s a hot day or a cold day, ya gurl always go for that cold brew missile with light ice and soymilk ? Why? Not sure, but it really wakes me up and it’s not overly sweet. Every now and then I like to get the Fruit and Ricotta Toast. Their Fruit jam is house made and it’s always so yummy and goes great with the coffee! Overall; friendly baristas (if you go there enough, they’ll know your name and recognize you haha), great coffee, great food and good vibes. Note: the coffee shop portion of the building can be a bit loud, i recommend moving to the open area, if you want a quieter place to work.

theGREATROOM – Menu with Prices – 46100 Landing Pkwy, Fremont

This is a hotel restaurant, so it’s a little pricier (especially for breakfast or brunch) than some alternatives a freeway exit or two away. That said, the food here is actually quite good and the service is excellent. Adjacent to the lobby, this large, well-appointed dining room is conveniently located near the main entrance to the hotel, features plenty of natural light, and can typically seat any sized party without a long wait. In addition to the bar, there are a couple of strategically placed clusters of large screen TVs scattered around the main dining room enabling diners to watch their favorite sports team if they wish. More importantly, there is plenty of seating for those who would rather not be bludgeoned with television while dining. We watched San Jose State beat the University of New Mexico Lobos last Saturday night (October 4) at the bar. Our bartender (I think his badge said, “Jeff,” but I think he goes by “Jay”) took great care of us while we sipped wine by the glass and noshed on a Wedge Salad, Flatbed Pizza dish and a wonderful Edamame and Firecracker Shrimp appetizer. There was so much food we didn’t finish off the salad until the next day for lunch. The flatbread item was tasty enough, albeit unexceptional, but the firecracker shrimp was spicy (like God intended) and the edamame was grilled in a soy-based sauce that added a lot to this traditional Japanese snack. And the Wedge Salad was as good as any I’ve had anywhere — nearly half a head of iceberg lettuce dressed with plenty of blue cheese and featuring fresh tomatoes and a ton of bacon chunks. Breakfast features all of the menu items one would expect, as well as, an excellent self-serve continental breakfast which includes a variety of cereals, breads and pastries. The commercial bakery mini-bagels are soso, but there is an excellent selection of fresh tomatoes, sliced onion, lox, capers and cream cheese to dress them to taste. On weekends, guests can opt for the buffet which features made-to-order omelettes, scrambled eggs, bacon, a couple of sausage options, country fried potatoes, and fresh fruit and anything from the Continental Breakfast Bar. Unlimited fresh juices and coffee (and/or tea, milk, etc.) are included and served at the table. The brunch buffet also includes either pancakes or waffles, but they don’t fare well on the steam table and tend to either dry out or get too cold to melt butter on them. Overall, theGREATROOM features good food, excellent service, easy freeway access and has become my “GoTo” business dining spot in southern Alameda (Fremont/Newark) County.

Dutch’s Lounge – Menu with Prices – 24 E Park St, Newark

The wait staff here is pretty friendly and that is the only plus to this place. I also thought that the food was well prepared, although lacking in choices. I think that there may be some issues with management. They held a very loud party in the restaurant the last night I stayed in the hotel. While I had no issues with the fact that a party was held there, it seemed to be that all of the attention was given to the party and none to the other guests. I was also surprised that management allowed the music to be played so loudly well into the night such that dinner guests could not eat in some semblance of peace. I waited for ten minutes before anyone came to see me and I was doubly upset because it is hard to get anything in Newark after 9 AND I was a guest in the hotel. I also noticed that the other dozen or so guests were also waiting on the staff to pay attention to them. Since the food is slightly overpriced and the menu is largely lacking in choices, I left to brave Newark for another option. I think that this restaurant has potential but could be polished a bit more in the thoughtfulness for all of its guests.

King Street Tavern Menu with Prices 1767 King St, Alexandria

We used this location for our wedding reception and Craig Luparello was superb at making sure we got everything we needed. He was responsive and willing to work with us when we had demands that aren’t the typical demands. I wish our room block rate was a better price for our guests but, what are you going to do? I guess I have to work more with a hotel chain in order to get better deals. I always get great rates at other hotels that I negotiate room blocks with frequently. Anyways, this hotel has a parking garage that connects with the hotel next door so you have to be careful of where you park and which elevator you take. If you end up at the other hotel, you’ll have to take the long route outdoors to get to the Hilton…or go back to the garage to find the Hilton elevators. The hotel rooms are a lot more spacious than other Old Town hotels and clean. I had a view of the Masonic Temple with metro tracks in front of it but the noise was not very noticeable. The lobby was modern and welcoming. Our guests thought it was a lovely hotel. And they really enjoyed the food prepared by the hotel chef. I wish I was able to finish my wedding dinner because I really enjoyed the steak and crab cakes we selected!

Holiday Inn & Suites Waco Northwest – Menu with Prices – 1801 N Development Blvd, Waco

My friend and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Waco this last weekend for the Silo Marathon. The hotel was reasonably priced and appeared to be kept clean and up to date. I was surprised when we got to our room and the couch and chair at the desk (appears to be made with fake leather) was pealing and falling apart. The rest of the room appears to be in tip top shape, so I could not understand why the furniture was allowed to look this way without being replaced? Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of these pieces of furniture to show you what I am talking about. Other than that, the hotel staff during check-in was extremely friendly and fast. I however, did not like that the breakfast was not complimentary but room service is an option, which on the flip side, is a nice option if you want to pay a little more (we did not end up utilizing this service). We did not end up eating at the restaurant inside the hotel, even though were were offered a 10 percent off coupon because it was Cinco De Mayo so we ended up at a Mexican Restaurant near the Silos. All in all, Waco has limited choices if your ballen on a budget, so we would recommend this hotel, the hotel management just needs to review some of the furniture in the hotel and consider replacing it.

Give a Crepe – Menu with Prices – 2431 Peach St, Erie

Stephani is a easygoing, hardworking, talented, and she knows her stuff when it comes to everything crepes. My husband and I met with Stephani back in April to do a tasting of different crepes because we thought they would be a cool dinner for our wedding rehearsal. First off, Stephani is so funny and kind and REALLY easy-going. She made us plates of samples, and that made it really hard to choose haha. After trying to decide which ones we would like offered for our guests, Stephani helped guide us to having two savory options and two sweet options. We also have a sister-in-law who is vegan so she made sure to include those options in our FOUR choices as well. Not only are the crepes DE-LICIOUS, they are reasonably priced. We opted to do our rehearsal in our backyard with tent and rented tables and chairs, so Stephani came to set up about an hour before guests arrived and she started mixing them up! Her set up was ADORABLE and my family thought it was SUCH a cool idea and experience. We ended up having 8 no-shows, so that meant I also had delicious Mr. Sir, Honied Blueberry and Goat Cheese, and Citron crepes the morning of my wedding with my ‘maids ? I love that her menu changes and offers a lot of variety for savory and sweet folks, vegetarians, meat lovers, and fruit lovers. She even printed out a little menu board for my guests to look at while deciding! Her ingredients are always fresh, and the Strawberry Balsamic and Greens salad was a perfect little “greens boost” the night before my big day. Thank you again, and we hope to find another reason to have crepes catered really soon lol!!

Hyatt Place Eugene/Oakway Center – Menu with Prices – 333 Oakway Rd, Eugene

My husband and 3 of my daughters stayed here for 4 nights while visiting my parents. We stayed in a 2 queen bed room and it had a pullout. The whole place was very clean. From walking in, to our room, the pool area, the outside patio area were all very clean and taken care of. The free breakfast in the morning was excellent. They had eggs and potatoes every morning and then a meat that changed daily. They had fresh fruit that changed daily. A couple bread options. Parfaits and banana fosters also rotated different days. They had oatmeal every morning and a couple of cold cereal options. The pool area was super clean. They offer pool towels so you don’t need to take your room ones down. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. If we are in need of a hotel room to stay in while in Eugene again we will definitely book a room here again.

The Londoner Bed and Breakfast – Menu with Prices – 304 15th St W, Bradenton

What a gem! I know there were some less than flattering reviews on Trip Advisor, but after having stayed here for five nights, I must disagree with them. Our experience here was nothing but positive. We had originally booked the Westminster room, and upon arrival we were upgraded to the Victoria Suite, complete with sitting room and refrigerator! The Londoner is within a short walking distance of the gorgeous Manatee Riverwalk, and a nice handful of restaurants and pubs. And at only 10 minutes by car to the beach, it’s the ideal location if you want to stay somewhere with a quiet, small town feel, as opposed to the bustling city of Sarasota proper. Here, you can have the best of both worlds, since Sarasota is only a 10-15 minute drive. Traffic in this area really wasn’t that bad to us, but do remember we come from the insanity of the KC Metro. I’m a stickler for cleanliness, and everything was kept up, so no complaints there! Dirty bathrooms especially gross me out, but ours was sparkling. Breakfast was simple, yet satisfying. A delicious selection of fresh fruit, granola and yogurt, bagels and toast, and most of the time bacon and eggs–far better than the usual “continental breakfast” fare, I must say! We were glad not to have anything too rich, because then we were able to enjoy all of the nearby restaurants for lunch and dinner without an overwhelming breakfast spoiling our appetites for them. I suppose this aspect depends on one’s preferences. Ms. Melanie was a welcome sight every morning, and she made our stay that much more wonderful. She gave us lots of handy tips about the area and its attractions. I would highly recommend this B&B. It was like staying with family, or a very close friend.

The Pfister Hotel – Menu with Prices – 424 E Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee

My wife and I love staying at this hotel and if you are in town for a couple of nights, it is a beautiful place to stay. But we made the mistake of hosting a wedding at the pfister and the experience was so terrible that I couldn’t recommend it to anyone. The red flags started as soon as we were handed off from their sales staff to their event staff. The event staff were non responsive (to say the least). As an example, we requested the count of guests booked in our room block for weeks only to receive an email (weeks later) telling us our room block was already full. Fast forward to wedding weekend, our welcome bags (which the pfister charged to deliver) were not delivered. We asked them to deliver them, no luck. They weren’t delivered until our wedding day. Our handicapped guests, who we specifically requested a handicap accessible room, were put in a room that couldn’t fit a wheel chair into the bathroom. When we requested a room change, we were told they were all taken forcing our guests to use the public bathroom (on a different floor). Luckily our ceremony wasn’t at the pfister but we did have a brunch at the pfister the morning after our wedding. If running out of food wasn’t terrible enough, the pfister then ran out of dish ware! The bartender spent the morning on his cell phone while no one was clearing dirty dishes – it was a disaster. So bottom line, it’s a great hotel at for a couple of nights but do NOT host an event at the pfister

Rise & Shine – A Steak & Egg Place – Menu with Prices – 75 S Valle Verde Dr #160, Henderson

Rise and shine… Because when YOU shine bright, you give permission for others to shine their inner light too! My 4 year old, 13 month old and my sister met here for breakfast one hot Vegas morning. Waking in, I caught eye of one waitress, and thought to myself, wow, those look like super casual comfy pants to wear to work. Then I saw the another waitress and noticed they all were wearing pajamas! Cute idea, it’s like we stepped into their home and they are fixin’ up breakfast for us. When you come here, it’s essential to order the Pot of Bread. It’s bread baked in a small coffee cup. The top portion is cinnamon bread. And it comes with a side of sweetness to dip the bread into. My 4 year old daughter thought this was so much fun!! We ordered the steak and eggs, after all, that’s what the restaurant is named after! The steak is rubbed with a coffee seasoning. I’m not a coffee drinker, but OMG, this was delicious! So much flavor! My sister and I split the steak, enough for two, but sensible enough for one if you have a big appetite. I also substituted the potatoes for fruit. My sister, who is classic in her own right, had a classic Belgian Waffle. I snuck a bite, and it was sooo delicious. And they ONLY have REAL MAPLE SYRUP. I really appreciate that!! I do not like high fructose cheap pancake syrup, so when they brought out a bottle of real maple syrup, I was sold! Great waffle. I’ll be coming back and ordering that for myself next time. My daughter had the 1+2+3=6. Clever name. It’s 1 egg. 2 bacon. 3 silver dollar pancakes. We substituted the bacon for fruit. The silver dollar pancakes were on the larger size, very good. The high chair for my 13 month old was a good height for the table. We will be back and will also take out of town guests here because it’s great food, some unique menu items and fun experience. Totally recommend!

Omni Corpus Christi Hotel – Menu with Prices – 900 N Shoreline Blvd, Corpus Christi

We have stayed here one other time and liked it so much we decided to stay here again for our weekend get-away! The hotel is located in a great spot, with easy parking and lots and lots of places you can walk to. The hotel has an indoor/outdoor pool where the indoor part is connected to the outdoor part with a passage way to go between. There is also a hot tub jacuzzi, but it is a little too hot for me. The pool is heated, which means you can swim all year round. Our heads were above the water outside and got a little cold since it was February, but even with that minor discomfort the swimming is a lot of fun! Our 8 year-old loves the pool and wants to spend the whole weekend in the pool! The workout area is top notch! We ate breakfast in the hotel breakfast area one morning, but were very surprised that we had to wait 25 minutes to be seated. We ordered the buffet and it was good but the long wait made it not a pleasant. There was also a big line at the waffle maker and omelet maker. It was surprising because the other time we stayed at this hotel it was quick and easy to eat at the breakfast area. I found the staff in that area were not friendly either, except once we sat down, then they kept asking us if everything was ok. It felt like they were only asking because they knew how long we had to wait. There were bunches of people who had to wait 25+ minutes. The food areas were not well stocked either, for the price, I expect everything to be full-to-overflowing. It was not a great breakfast but it was good. After that we did not eat there again, we ate outside the hotel at iHop or Shipley’s donuts. I think it would benefit guests if your breakfast policy and prices were more readily available because we were having to ask a lot of questions about what the breakfast situation was –was it included in the room or what are the hours, or what are the prices, etc. We had to ask by calling the front desk. I thought the room was great and the views were fabulous! I was sad you did not have the Hallmark channel, but the other offerings on the TV were good. The beds were comfortable but the pillow was not good. There is a refrigerator but no microwave in the room. I was very disappointed that there was no microwave, because I wanted popcorn in the room and to be able to heat up snacks. The room had a great oversized chair and ottoman, which were a little stained but comfortable. There were stains on the balcony floor which I did not like walking on with bare feet, but it wasn’t too bad. We had a great stay and plan to come back. This is a really great hotel and we highly recommend it.
