As a Nicaraguan in Gainesville it was impossible to get any food from my home country north of Miami. When my husband told me about this place we decided to eat it for dinner that night. The signature Nicaraguan dish of carne asada (grilled beef) did not disappoint (definitely get it freshly grilled for maximum flavor). The rice and beans (gallo pinto) and fried queso (cheese) are other staples that are really delicious. The meat was so good I went back two days later. The grilled meat platter is the most expensive at $11 but you definitely get enough food.Their other dishes are less and I have not tried them yet but I definitely will! The staff is super friendly and one of the owners, Kayla, is a pleasure to talk to. She is also super receptive to feedback which I appreciate. They also make other things like empanadas and croquettas and sell some drinks as well. If you like chocolate milk, you will definitely love the cacao. I grew up drinking this stuff as a child and its so sweet and chocolatey but super natural. Its $3 and worth every drop. Some people compare it to a mocha, which I can see, although it doesn’t have coffee. Overall, I’m so happy to have Nica food available in Gainesville and I hope they do well. I almost cried tears of joy after taking that first bite.

Cross Creek Cafe – Menu with Prices – 4210 NW 97th Blvd, Gainesville

Iâ??ve been eating at the Gators Den for years – every time Iâ??m in Gainesville in business. Itâ??s connected to the Best Western so its very convenient to have so close after a long day of business meetings. Very tasty food (and Iâ??ve tried pretty much everything on their menu). My favourites are the â??smothered chickenâ? and their chilli. The wings are good as well. For desert try the raspberry cheesecake – itâ??s good! The service is actually fantastic! The wait staff are all young – probably college kids – and they are very motivated to ensuring that each customer is happy… it works! I always tip large because the kids that work there try so hard – thatâ??s important.Itâ??s always a pleasure eating at the â??Denâ?? and I recommend it whenever you happen to be in the Gainesville Florida area.

ChaTea Hawaii – Menu with Prices – 1617 Kapiolani Blvd #102, Honolulu

I was a little bit skeptical about this place because there is only 1 review, turns out, I had absolutely nothing to worry about. The service here is really good, they really care about your opinion and how they can improve themselves. They have customer feedback sheet at every table. The atmosphere and the 2 workers were friendly and it didn’t feel like a chain, they were really personable. The quality of the of their milk tea and desserts is unbelievable. I tried their Large Classic Milk Tea ($4.25) which is slightly more pricer than other places (Their large is equivalent to a regular size at other milk tea places) and their Shaved Ice Tofu ($4.00). Topping cost an additional $0.65. I added boba to the Large Classic Milk Tea and Azuki bean and boba to the Tofu. Their Milk tea is pretty, I would say one of the top milk tea places on the island, but not to talk anything away from the Milk Tea but the reason why I gave this place 5 stars is because of the TOFU. It’s probably some of the best tofu you can find at a dessert, you can tell the tofu is made fresh everyday base on how smooth the tofu is. I wouldn’t say this is the best tofu I ever had, but it’s definitely really good. The shave ice was pretty good, some of the other shave ice places will have ice stick together but not here. For the price, I think the portion is really good. I think the boba is also really good, they make it really well, it’s nice and chewy but not super chewy. The parking is also a little cramp, the parking spaces are generally pretty good, except for a few spaces, but coming out is the challenge, it’s extremely tight and there is only one way in and one way out. The place is definitely on the smaller size and I can see it being crowded really easily. I don’t think I will come here for the milk tea but I would come back for the desserts. As mentioned, nothing wrong with the milk tea but I just had better milk tea.

Fritanga El Malecon – Menu with Prices – 315 E 49th St, Hialeah

Gallo pintito, carnita asada, quesito, tajadas… just one of the delightful things you could pick at this Nicaraguan fritanga. In my opinion one of the best in miami. Married to a beautiful nica girl, and been eating Nicaraguan food from her and her family, i can pretty much distinguish Nicaraguan food when its made the right way. I can freely give this place a 4.5 star rating, and its my first choice when i crave Nica food! I’ve been to the notorious Pinolandia and even though ive tried it once, and the taste was just as great, its just not enough to rate it yet. But back to El Malecon, on my last visit, i ordered the usual and favorite, gallopinto, carne asada, queso frito, tajada, maduros, col salad. Its simply delicious, and my kids and wife also loves it. The negative about this place its not spacious and parking on weekends can be somewhat chaotic since other businesses are next to it. But definitely its a must go try it out fritanga.

MAD Nutrition & Smoothies – Menu with Prices – 4834 14th St W, Bradenton

This place is by far the best for nutritional and 26g protien smoothies without fillers. The owners are very nice and accommodating! They have no problem showing you what exactly goes into each smoothie. You can change any ingredient in your smoothie to something else. I like to get a nutty monkey and make it skinny which takes out the granola and puts in Quaker whole oats and has unsweetened almond milk. Or I’ll get the tropical treasure smoothie but take out the apple juice and replace it with unsweetened almond milk. They will make you a smoothie and give you the extras in another cup every time! This is another perk for them! Love that! They also sell supplements. Thank you for making the best smoothies around! Never drinking smoothie king again.

Five Senses Coffee House Menu with Prices 6010 S Western St #300, Amarillo

I love the location because I love on the South side of town so all of the other coffee shops are farther away and they’re always packed! I also love their coffee – I’m not a coffee connoisseur but I’m not a fan of the coffee in a lot of the places around town but I love this coffee! They have oat milk (I know it sounds crazy, hear me out!) which I’d never heard of but is creamy and tastes good. I hated having whole milk but skim milk makes it taste watery and almond milk has too strong of a taste. Oat milk is my new go – to and it’s all thanks to this place! The people that work there are also super nice and recognize me as a regular, always making conversation and recommending new drinks to try.

Rogue Wave Coffee – Menu with Prices – 11322 119 St NW, Edmonton

I don’t know much about coffee, but I do know that I enjoy drinking it. I came by here the other day with a friend and we each got a coffee and I got a croissant. I was super happy with my coffee, but the croissant wasn’t quite my style. A little too sweet, I think. These folks seem to know a lot about coffee, and it looks like they have their own roasting gig in the back. They also sell a variety of coffee accessories that I was quite intrigued by. I have to talk about the bathroom. They have a heated toilet seat, you guys. That’s a big deal on frigid Edmonton days like today’s balmy -28 degrees. The only critique I’d give them is to add more seating! They have a pretty cool vibe and seem to be into comfort (again, the heated toilet) so it would be great to see some cozy couches or chairs in here!

Hooked Meat & Seafood Market – Menu with Prices – 1320 Stallings Rd, Greenville

As a family we have never bought meat outside of a supermarket before. It was a new and thrilling experience for me. When I read reviews about Hooked I wanted to check them out as we wanted to have a special meal to celebrate Yom Teruah. The first thing you notice when walking in the store is that it does have a fishy smell; I do not know enough about fish whether that is a good or bad thing, I once heard that fish is not supposed to smell fishy or it’s not fresh. I guess, it’s a good thing that we were not there to buy fish?! Anyway, we placed an order for 1 lb of ground lamb meat. I tried to check out some items in the store, which is not that easy when you have a baby in a stroller and a preschooler running everywhere and touching everything. I did see that they had a special cooler with gator meat, which I thought was interesting. I read about their variety of sausages on their website and saw them in a different case and they sure looked yummy. And that is when I saw IT … raw milk!!! I had recently watched a YouTube video about a guy drinking raw milk when it was still illegal about 6 or 7 years ago. I thought it can hardly be illegal now that it is available in a store for sale. So, of course I made my husband buy half a gallon for us to try and I also picked up the brochure of where the raw milk came from. Very interesting stuff, especially the health benefits! Well, now I have a new drink love affair with raw milk. It is so good, refreshing and thick and creamy and has that real yellowish tint to it that cow’s milk is supposed to have. Even lactose intolerant people can drink raw milk, because of the very reason that it has not been pasteurized. Getting off my soap box in a minute, but I’d like people to consider doing some research into raw milk before they condemn it. I really wish all baked goods, milkshakes, hot chocolates, ice cream, and what not had raw milk in them. I bet they would taste 10 times better. Too bad it is quite a bit expensive, otherwise I’d buy it all the time. Need a raw milk fix asap! We did not stay too long, just long enough to place the order grab that delicious raw milk and look around a little bit, but I would like to go back to explore what else they have and maybe pick up some chicken sausages for dinner. Hubby made lamb burgers out of the ground meat and they were very good!

Café Au Plait – Menu with Prices – 10405 E McDowell Mountain Ranch Rd Suite 100, Scottsdale

Anyone who knows me knows I love supporting great local businesses and it PAINS me to write a bad review but I have to share my feelings. First off, this cafe is adorable. It’s clean. It’s pretty. But I came here because of the play place. I thought, hey this is great! I’ll grab coffee and let my kids play for a little bit before moving on to our next activity. Until I walked in and saw the prices. It’s $5 PER child to go inside a small play area. But if you buy a coffee and food, the play area has got to be free right?! Wrong! It’s still $5 per child even after you’ve spent $4-$6 on coffee, $6.25 on overnight oats and $2 per apple pouch that you buy at Costco for $9.99. Listen, I love the idea. I love the thought. But it’s ridiculous to charge parents this much per child for the 10-20 minutes the kids will actually play in the area because it’s small. A child who can entertain themselves will be over it fast and a child who’s younger won’t let Mommy get anything done if they are in eyesight. I’m super disappointed because I have been so excited to go here. As a Mom who has her own business and two kids 3 and under, I dream for a place like this. Wish for a place like this. But I’m not paying $10 plus food and drink for it. If they were supportive to Moms, they would do it as two options. Spend $10 on food and drink and your kids get in free OR charge for kids to play if you aren’t buying any food or drink. Not both! This isn’t a play place. This is a coffee shop. They have to decide which direction to take otherwise no one will go there.

Cj Diamond Café Inc – Menu with Prices – 13174 41st Ave, Flushing

I love this place, the staff is kind and the bartenders are very attentive. Great Ambience, I like dimly lit settings. I learned how to play a few drinking games, made drinking super fun and before I knew it– it was 4am. Time flew. I’ll be returning. Overall, great experience.

Slavonian European Cafe Menu with Prices 7 Northern Dr, Troy

I’ll need to preface this seeing as my rating is not in line with many others who find it more than Ok. My mother is from Eastern Europe and cooked daily in restaurants and at home. We had every type of Eastern European dish growing up as a child, and never really appreciated it, until growing up. Yes, I was spoiled from a food standpoint, growing up, and why I find it hard to say the place is awesome. I will say it is good, but as many have pointed out, don’t expect the Borscht or Pierogi to taste typical. That is one thing I believe this place has going for it. Some of the dishes are really home made and you can tell authentic recipes from the owner. You get to enjoy their unique flavor, which is hard to find these days. I did enjoy some dishes and the flavors, but some other ones were a little bland and tasted like from a can, (i.e., the mushroom soup). The meat dumplings also tasted very similar to the dumplings in Dim Sum down the street. Other dishes were tasty but just not as good as my mother’s sarma or kupus. Sarma (stuffed Croatian cabbage) had much more meat to rice ratio and the cabbage thick and hearty wrapping dripping in meat sauce. I will say I enjoyed her version, as it was light on the meat, and cabbage wrapped very thin. I laughed, as I would have preferred this as a child, but now miss the hearty Croatian sarma I grew up with. Both are great, but it depends on your taste, and as far as my taste goes, let’s just say, Mom knows best when it comes to Eastern European taste.

Pressed Juicery – Menu with Prices – 21540 Hawthorne Blvd Ste 428B, Torrance

Came in because my friend likes their freeze (don’t call it “froyo”; freezes are healthy with natural ingredients). Dairy free, gluten free, no added sugar, fewer calories, and accordingly, low on flavor. Didn’t like either freeze I sampled. Coconut tasted like frozen shaved coconut water – no taste. Even the employee agreed it tasted like plain shaved ice. Chocolate had cacao and is sweetened by dates but it wasn’t sweet or chocolatey enough for me. Maybe it’s an acquired taste, like switching from 2% to skim milk. I didn’t bother sampling the vanilla. My friend adds toppings to sweeten her frozen stuff. She loves raw cacao and fresh raspberries. Limited selection of healthy toppings, like granola, fresh fruit and dried coconut. Service is great! We were encouraged to try samples of juice and the freezes. I liked one drink with oranges. Since their products are kinda pricey, they want to make sure you purchase something you like. I ended up getting an immunity Wellness shot for $2.95. It was hella spicy and bitter – ginger, cayenne and lemon will do that! The recommended Wellness shot + Orange drink (which tasted sweet & really good) I think was $9 total. They also sell RXBARs (which list the few ingredients on front packaging). Blueberry rocks! If you join their store club you get 1 free item during your birthday month plus points per purchase toward a free item. Would only go back for a drink or shot when I want a super healthy, beneficial drink. Drinks don’t have preservatives so bottles need refrigeration and should be drunk within a few days after purchase. I am really impressed with the knowledgeable, friendly, service-oriented employees.

Gong Cha Richardson – Menu with Prices – 1425 E Belt Line Rd #102, Richardson

This place is amazing! Not only is the location super close but it’s next to Target! lol I love myself some milk tea and Target. My favorite drink is the Earl Grey Milk Tea with the 3J’s. I thought that with that many topping, the milk tea would be overpowered but it’s actually the opposite! You can still taste the tea and enjoy the toppings. This place also give a generous amount of toppings. The lemon aiyu with the white pearls is so refreshing on a hot day! The milk foam dirty brown sugar milk tea is so good, very similar to a caramel milk tea, but more milky flavor. The milk foam green milk tea is amazing! You can really taste the green tea flavor. Matcha milk tea is mixed ver well and there is not a powdery taste at all. The strawberry milk tea reminds me of an artificial strawberry pocky flavor. I do recommend all drinks to be less sweet though because this place tends to be on the sweeter side.
