My husband and I visited Edge on a Thursday night. It was packed. Probably 90% full with people having to wait for a table towards the end of our dinner. That’s always a good sign right? This is the strangest place to have a restaurant. It’s in the middle of an industrial park in Boise where you would never guess a restaurant would be. Parking was difficult to find as well. The decor is bizarre. The walls are painted to make it seem like there is exposed brick with what appears to be hops vines growing out of them. Stick some grapes on the vines and you would have a bad 90’s Italian restaurant. They also have a wall of painted on barrels. This place could look so much better with some actual brick walls and some real barrels cut in half and secured to the wall. They also had a pair of double doors that lets you see into the actual brewery part which is really cool and would help their atmosphere. However, there were cardboard boxes stacked up against most of the door so you could only actually see a sliver into the brewery. My husband ordered the Smokehouse sandwich and I ordered the Grilled Cheese. I checked in on Yelp and we earned a free pint. Woot woot! Thanks Yelp and Edge!!! Unfortunately the wait to get our food was so long. My guess is at least 22 minutes. And I feel I’m being generous. My husbands sandwich was really good and the only thing I would complain about is the bun was swimming in grease and/or butter. Like a disgusting amount. This is not needed. Let the bread and meat speak for itself. I did not have my husbands same luck with my dinner. My grilled cheese arrived cold. I’m talking all the cheese had reverted back to its solid state cold. Even my fries were cold. (My husbands food was hot!) I NEVER send food back. I’ve done it maybe once before. But I just couldn’t do it. The waitress was very courteous and offered to make me a new one. So I waited. And waited. And waited. It took 13 minutes for me to get another sandwich. It’s grilled cheese!!!!! It’s not like they had to actually cook anything. If you are remaking an order, that food should go to the top of the chefs list. When I finally received my order again it was thankfully nice and hot. The fries were amazing! Seriously. I would say I’m a french fry expert and these were delicious! However the sandwich was so pitiful. None of the cheese was melty (which I blame partially on the actual kinds of cheese they use) and it was such a small amount. You got cheese in the middle and that was it (see picture of sad cheese distribution). The wait staff was very kind and prompt and the fries were amazing but all in all we will not be going back which is a shame.

Press 626 Wine Bar – Menu with Prices – 626 W Olney Rd, Norfolk

Love this spot for their “Award winning grilled cheese” sandwiches! There are four different melted cheese on their grilled cheese that make it one of the ooest gooest cheese sandwiches in the 757 and if you get the salad that comes with it it is so fresh with a dressing I believe they make in house… but wait… there’s another grilled cheese restaurant that’s only 1 short mile from Press competing for the best grilled cheese sandwich -the Grilled Cheese Bistro which features “The Gooey” with three different melted cheese and their Parmesan fries-heavenly.. so let’s compare notes: they both come on buttered grilled bread except it is sourdough at Press and a version of a thick Texas toast at Grilled cheese bistro- this is a tie because they both compliment the sandwich respectively, next the cheeses- although one location has four cheeses and the other has three both offering additions to the sandwich (i.e bacon, tomatoes) the cheeses stand firm on their own so there’s no need to for additions unless you prefer. The cheese on both is melted together so good it’s spilling off the bread that I can’t choose which is best-tie there. The price at Press is $10 which is the exact same price at the grilled cheese bistro (I think they’re trying to set us up people)….LOL So it boils down to this- Press is not a grilled cheese bistro But their grilled cheese tastes mighty award winning to me! Their Atmosphere takes the cake and I don’t know if I mentioned it but their wine list-oh boy, it is Great! The restaurant is set up in a quaint corner house with intimate romantic seating in their bay windows, the lighting is soft and dim making it perfect for a date night, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. You feel like you can get comfy and stay all night sipping the various wine options and rubbing your full belly (until 11pm most nights:) Highly recommend!

The Stackz Co – Menu with Prices – 9223 Archibald Ave H, Rancho Cucamonga

Came here for lunch with high hopes, but left totally disappointed. The restaurant itself is like a bar that serves sandwiches and salads. I ordered the Adult Grilled Cheese Sandwich and the Original Grilled Cheesesteak Sandwich To-Go. I was amused at how long it took them to make it. It literally took them 35mins to make the sandwiches! I had to tell the cashier that I was in a rush in order to have my sandwich to come out quicker. However on top of all that when I came back to the office to eat, the Grilled Cheese was a soggy mess. The bread itself was not crispy but oozing with grease. Both my co-workers and I could not finish it. The Grilled Cheesesteak was better. It wasn’t great but much better than the Grilled Cheese. I liked how it was stacked (given the name) with meat and toppings. As for management, the kitchen needs to work on their speed and efficiency. The food needs to be double and triple checked before being served. If I’m going to be spending close to $10 for a sandwich and have to wait 35mins for it, the food should be REALLY GOOD. If you have an hour for lunch before you have to get back to work, I would not recommend this place.

The Booyah Shed – Menu with Prices – 3702, 1800 S Ashland Ave, Green Bay

Discovered the brick and mortar location this week. And I can report that this is a must stop if you are looking for cheap eats in GB! Booyah is only $3.50 a bowl and $1 a cup! First visit tried a bowl and an Angry bacon jam grilled cheese (jalapeño’s added for free!). Really good! Genuine sconi booyah. Meaty and good veggies. Grilled cheese is on Texas toast and a good combo. I think to order it again I would ask for the soup at the same time as the soup, I like to dunk. Today, tried a Bacon Jam cheese burger, dude of crinkle fries and a cup of Booyah. Perfect pairing. Side was proper portioned and soup as a starter was stellar. Oh my friend order the tots with Jalapeños! Next time instead of fries!! Outstanding!! Must try.

John’s Philly Grille (We close early if we run out of fresh baked bread) – Menu with Prices – 20379 Beach Blvd, Huntington Beach

Honestly? I never thought this day would ever come. I had pretty much resigned myself that I had found the best Philadelphia cheese steak in Southern California at Frank’s Philly in Costa Mesa. I mean, it was my go-to place, and really felt that there was no other alternatives available. Well, here I am with melted cheese on my face. My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to get a bite to eat when we decided on trying to find a good Philly cheese steak. I suggested our regular haunt, but she said no, let’s try something new. We told my roommate that we were looking for a good Philly cheese steak and was thinking about John’s Philly Cheesesteak onBeach boulevard. she said, “Oh yes, absolutely. Without a doubt, that is the place you need to go!” This place is definitely an old school, hole in the wall sandwich shop. It’s bright yellow, with hand-painted letters, and looks like it was a hamburger stand in the late ’60s. But let me tell you, this place is the real deal when it comes to Philly cheesesteaks. We ordered a 12″ The Works, and asked the girl at the counter if we should do fries or onion rings. She asked us if it was our first time there, and before we could even get the first two letters of yes out of our mouth, she said get the fries. So we ordered the fries extra crispy. Let me just say this: Everything was amazing. The bread that they put the sandwich on was impeccable. Like, I haven’t tasted anything that good since I had a Philly cheese steak in Philadelphia. And the fries, are big. Like steak fries. Definitely get them extra crispy. We ordered the sweet hot peppers on the side, because we were unsure about the heat. But I have no hesitation in throwing them all on the sandwich. They are full of flavor and won’t burn your mouth apart. If you like a good Philly cheese steak the way I do, you really have to give this place a try. I can’t wait to go back and try some of the other things on their menu, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be having a Philly cheesesteak for the next several visits. It’s just that good. Bottom line? You are going to love this place as much as I do. As a side note, they do not accept $100 bills. Not really sure why, but there are several signs stating the fact. So if you are a high roller, make sure to have a wad of 20s when you go there.

Winnie’s Tavern – Menu with Prices – 1895 Burnett Blvd, Wilmington

I visited Winnies Tavern today for lunch….. Atmosphere: Hole in the wall was my first impression when I walked in… which I’m not sure is a compliment but it’s not a complaint either… Customer service: I asked the hostess if we could sit in the corner away from the middle of the restaurant where there was clearly high traffic flowing in and out past us, and she informed us that they reserve larger tables for larger parties… so we reluctantly sat near the exit… which wasn’t the greatest in my opinion because I was actually bumped in the arm by customers exiting the restaurant while I was eating!!! So in other words VERY CRAMPED inside… our servers name was London she seemed okay… wasn’t highly impressed but it wasn’t terrible service either. I DID have to ask for a refill on my drink which isn’t my favorite thing I like when servers are attentive! Food / Pricing $$ : I ordered a club sandwich with a side of fries…. Now I did not like at all that the sandwich came out on a skewer?? I ordered a sandwich and got a shish Kabob???? Totally NOT EXPECTING THAT!! Not only was that odd it actually made the sandwich pretty difficult to eat. I attempted to eat the sandwich off the skewer and overall the sandwich was pretty bland…. for some reason I was expecting a hot sandwich and that was not the case. The grilled chicken and bacon were cold and soggy… the fries were good though! Now on to pricing $$!! for what I got 13 dollars seems a bit over the mark! I didn’t even attempt to order a burger when I saw they were 13 dollars and up! The pricing is too high for the quality of food and the cramped seating arrangements…. and sodas from a can! Yes canned sodas….. I think 7 dollars for a canned soda and cold lunch meat sandwich would’ve been fair… Overall I’m not exactly raving over Winnies but I’m not putting them down either!

Stacks Grilled Cheese and Bar – Menu with Prices – 311 Hiawatha Blvd W, Syracuse

Across the street from Destiny USA in the Embassy Suites hotel is a new restaurant, Stacks Grilled Cheese & Bar featuring an array of traditional and specialty grilled cheese sandwiches, unique appetizers and a variety of beers, as well as signature cocktails. Serving lunch and dinner with a full bar daily. Definitely wanted to try this place as soon as I heard about it. There are plenty of grilled cheese restaurants in the country, and I’ve always felt that it was a great idea if done right. This weekend, the wife and I met up with some friends to finally check it out. We made a reservation for 6 PM on a Saturday, since we had 5 in our party and weren’t really sure how busy it would be. It was completely empty when we arrived, and through our entire meal, which could’ve been from the fact that it was the same weekend as Taste of Syracuse. We were able to take our choice of seating. It’s a very upscale looking restaurant for specializing in grilled cheese, and it’s right in the middle of the main floor of the hotel, and is not marked anywhere inside or outside, but it’s hard to miss and you’ll run right into it from both of the main entrances. 3 of my party, including myself, ordered the Bleu Bandit Crispy Chicken grilled cheese, while the other two ordered the Green Goddess and BLT options. I try anything buffalo chicken, so it was the obvious choice for me. We all went for their housemade, fresh cut fries as the side. Meals were made relatively quickly and brought over to us. They were all plated very nicely. The fries were put into a cute little deep fry basket on each plate. We all started in and everything was good. The fries had great flavor, but were very greasy and mushy. Would’ve been way better had they gotten crispy. The sandwich was good, but there wasn’t nearly enough buffalo sauce on it. As a matter of fact, you could barely taste it. But the bread was sturdy and toasted well, the cheese was melty, and the bleu cheese had good flavor. The fried chicken on it was very good quality, and it was also a very hearty, filling sandwich. Prices were fair and service was good. I feel like they could be a much better place with just a couple tweaks, as the fries could be crispier and more sauce was definitely in order for my sandwich. It was good, but not the best grilled cheese I’ve ever had, and that’s what I’m expecting from a restaurant that specializes in them.

Ritz Barbecue Menu with Prices 302 N 17th St, Allentown

We were excited to try out the mom and pop looking restaurant, especially intrigued by the sign outside that says they make their own ice cream. In anticipation of a special desert I decided to order something simple. I ordered a grilled ham and cheese as well as french fries. My husband ordered cheeseburger and fries. Food came rather timely, but before the first bite of my grilled ham and cheese something didn’t seem right, it had a very odd smell, and after my first and only bite the best I can say is that it was not made with butter, but more likely made with a very cheap cooking spray and cooked on a very dirty grill. My husband reported his burger to be just a basic burger, nothing special. Staff did not check on us until they came to ask if I would like a box. I informed her that no I would not like a box because it was nasty. I was not even asked if I would like something else. The grilled ham and cheese was taken off our bill. As I was paying I did get to see some of the kitchen, it was very dirty, with food on the floor. If I had noticed that on my way in I would not have even bothered to order. Because of the awful sandwich and minimal waitress attention, I can not even comment on the ice cream that they make themselves.

Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar – Menu with Prices – 11560 Fourth St, Rancho Cucamonga

I love everything about this restaurant and all its locations that I hav been to. First of all they are dog lovers – which I do too!!!! The restaurant is authentic is their trademark and all its charm. You can call your name in ahead of time on most busy times like your Friday date night. Came here on Sunday to have lunch and watch some football. There was a 15 minute wait for a table but my husband is alway great at scoping the bar area for a high table. Guess what – Success… Table was cleaned off quickly and got a drink order in. My opted for a lemonade, thyme, & cucumber drink and it was VERY tasty. My hubby ordered a LD double mango brew as it was delicious. We order some buffalo cauliflower appetizer – again DELICIOUS. Nothing was left on the plate except a few bleu cheese crumbs. Lunch order included squash soup & grilled cheese sandwich with Cajun fries. Their soups are mostly homemade daily. They have a new feature on the menu too – Don’t miss out on this one… Candied bacon!!!! I added this on to my grilled cheese and it was a nice extra to have. I had the other half of my sandwich on Monday and the bacon was even more distinguished & tasteful. Service is alway very tentative & helpful. I would recommend this restaurant for any type of occasion or just to stop and watch a game & have a drink!

Eddis & Sons Handcrafted Cheesesteaks & Sandwiches – Menu with Prices – 1435 Naldo Ave, Jacksonville

Don’t let the stars fool you – the cheesesteak is fresh, HUGE, and delicious! This food truck regularly makes stops at my place of work, and after some goading from my boss, it was time to give it a try. The menu gives a ton of options (including veg) for your cheesesteak/grilled sandwich, and the final results are absolutely delicious. We opted for the cheesesteak with peppers, onions, and mushrooms, all covered in white American cheese (although there was the option for cheese wiz or provolone as well). Be prepared to wait a long time for your order. It seems that each order is cooked individually (despite the fact that we ordered the same thing…why not just double-up while cooking?). Despite being a food truck (and what I have grown accustomed to as fast food), we waited a solid 20 minutes post-order in a long line of other co-workers (some of whom left their peers to pick up their food, they had meetings to get to!) for our meals. My boss waited just as long as I, despite having only ordered a sandwich– no sides. When we finally got the food, my boss’s sandwich had a few bones in the meat, which was really off-putting. No such problems with my meal, but overall I don’t know if the tastiness of the sandwich was worth the hassle.

Chick-fil-A – Menu with Prices – 5001 Monroe St Ste FC10, Toledo

I normally have a a great experience with chick fil a but this time it wasn’t i came during a slow period with only a couple people ahead of me. but it still took 15 minutes to get my sandwich and fries then another 5-10 minutes to get my drink because they had to change the syrup which is ok since i work in the restaurant industry but while i was waiting my food had gotten cold. My fries were cold when i started to eat one so i only ate my sandwich which was still warm in some spots.

Archie’s Bar & Grill – Menu with Prices – 2996 Lake Washington Rd, Melbourne

Archie’s is a tucked away, compact spot where everything is fried, and everything is delicious. Adorable British-themed decor, like a wall mural of the restaurant owners’ European travels, bathroom doors with red call boxes painted on them, a spacious warm wood bar, and patio seating with vines climbing up the railing, all pack a lot into a tight space. They are SUPER canine friendly; feel free to bring your fur babies when you go to lunch at this hotspot! Haddock, Cod, Scotch Eggs (found mainly in northern states) reign, and burgers Shepard’s Pie, and sweet desserts entice. Bring your friends, family and canine companions on down and fill up on fun and fancy with a great vibe that you could be, just across the pond…

South Philly Cheesesteaks – Menu with Prices – 1439 Main St, Sarasota

Walked in here and understand they just opened to the public this week. Its an open environment with a cool brick wall on one side, and wooden/steel wall on the other. Nice wooden tables. Our server was friendly and was efficient. We had a few questions and she answered all of them quickly. I didn’t want the grilled onions or hot peppers on my large 10″ cheesesteak and wanted lettuce, tomato, and onion instead. She said no problem, but charged me $1 extra. I also wanted onion rings instead of bagged potato chips or fries and told her I would pay extra, but she said that was not possible, so I went with the fries. We also ordered a Swiss mushroom burger and sweet potato fries, but when it came out, it was with onion rings–very odd (because she originally said onion rings as an upgrade was not possible!). We eventually got our sweet potato fries that we originally ordered and she had the nerve to charge us an extra $3 for the onion rings (that we never did order). It looks like when it comes to upgrades and changes, they are a bit confused, so who knows what’s allowed. The good news is that the cheesesteak was very good tasting, although for a large, it wasn’t that big. You would think a large would be at least a foot long for $11.50. The fries were fresh cut, but tasted a bit off and dry, and they were very dark in color, along with the onion rings. Perhaps they needed to change the oil in their fryer. The sweet potato fries were okay. They also serve beer here at very reasonable prices.
