Went to Lin’s on a pivot since the original dining option was closed and I was not disappointed. They were more than accommodating for our group (it was 10 of us) and the food and service were great! I had the Burmese Chicken Curry (Spice level 2 of 4) and it was delicious. It wasn’t as saucy as I would expect for curry, but I didn’t mind as the flavor and seasoning of the chicken was perfect. Our server was prompt and with the exception of one mismatched dish got everyone’s their food and beverages without incident. Definitely recommend for affordable and delicious Thai and Burmese cuisine offerings.

Urban Burma Menu with Prices 10180 E Colfax Ave, Aurora

This is in an unassuming location if you are not familiar with the location. I passed this building a ton of times yet never really knew exactly where it was. It’s really cool in that it’s an international food court so I assume it makes it affordable for the vendors but, for the customers, it provides a number of international food options. The first of the vendors is Urban Burma, which apparently is the only Burmese restaurant in Colorado. They have a really cool space with couches and near the windows so it has more of a feel of a coffee shop than that of a food court. The people working there were friendly and helpful in making our selections. We had the fried rice, which I am normally not a big fan of, but I felt this was one of the best ones I’ve had. I went with the beef curry, which was more watery than those you get at Indian or Thai restaurants but still punched you with the strong flavor profile. I would absolutely get this dish again. My wife had a noodle dish that she didn’t end up liking nor did I really. I couldn’t pinpoint whether it was the consistency or taste or whatever. This is nothing again the business – sometimes people have different tastes and this just didn’t work out for us. This a great little gem and one worth exploring especially if you haven’t had this cuisine, if you like something similar to Indiana or Thai, or if you don’t even know where Burma is (it’s Myanmar now) – fun cultural experience.

September in Bangkok – Menu with Prices – 754 State St, New Haven

Definitely my favorite Thai restaurant in all of New Haven, September in Bangkok offers a great variety of delicious dishes in a classy environment. The menu has dishes of all different kinds, customizable however you would like, and as someone who greatly enjoys spicy food, the cuisine really hits the spot. Inside, the interior layout is also stunning, with very classic decorations that only augments the entire dining experience. The service too is also very prompt, and it never takes too long to get your food. For the food, imagine your classic Thai menu, but with so many more options, ranging from your typical Americanized food to more authentic offerings. As for favorites, my favorite starter is by far the massaman curry. It has the perfect combination of sweet and sour, and the roti bread complements the sauce well. For entrees, everything is so great that it’s difficult to pick, but I personally prefer the Gra Pow Kai if you’re looking for something with rice and then Drunken Man Noodle if you’re looking for something with a greater variety of flavors within a single dish. My only gripes would be that their understanding of spicy is still relatively toned down, but still more intense than some of the other Asian restaurants in the vicinity. If I could wish for anything, it’d be more non-vegetarian curry dishes, but you really can’t strike out with anything you get here, so I’d personally recommend just experimenting with whatever you’d like. I prefer the seating on the inside to that outside, simply because the tables outside are like those that you’d put outside for a neighborhood barbecue. The inside simply has better decorations, more thematic and the entire ambiance makes for a great experience. The location on State Street is a little inconvenient if you’re coming from the New Haven downtown area, but there’s plenty of parking, so that’s definitely a plus. As for service, I really have nothing to complain about. This Thai joint really hits it out of the park. I can’t recommend more highly for anyone in New Haven, and frankly in the general area. September in Bangkok is great, and I can’t wait to continue exploring the wide array of offerings they have on their menu.

Thai Kitchen Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 1400 Village Square Blvd #114, Tallahassee

One cuisine I have always felt Tallahassee was short of is Thai food, and great Thai at that. I went to the Thai Kitchen for lunch earlier this year. The restaurant has a quaint little setup in the corner by Home Goods. The staff are very friendly. At first, I was a little nervous about expectations because it wasn’t that busy, but I was definitely left not disappointed. Thai Kitchen has a nice selection of dishes to choose from and for the lunch selection, you get a house salad with ginger dressing or soup. I went for the house salad. Their ginger dressing is one of the best homemade dressings I’ve ever had! It was incredibly fresh and tasted as though the ginger was just ground up before the salad was served. For my entree, I ordered the Massaman Curry. This curry dish is not spicy and has a base of potatoes topped with onion and peanuts. The portion size was great and the dish was very pleasing. In addition, the cost for lunch is under $10, which is super affordable compared to other restaurants that leave you paying $10-20 even just for lunch. I was very pleased with my experience and knew I would make it back again. I went back for lunch a few weeks ago and had another equally amazing experience. I definitely could not resist the side salad with ginger dressing, which was just as great as the first time. I ordered the Basil Fried Rice with chicken. The dish consisted of fried jasmine rice, chicken, egg, onion, carrots, red and green pepper, green onion, Thai basil leaves and a spicy basil sauce. This dish definitely has a kick but it also has a bunch of wonderful flavors going on all at one time. In my opinion, this dish was even better than the Massaman Curry. The chef definitely does not skimp on portions, so I was able to get two lunches from one dish and at a super low cost of less than $10. Overall, I think that Thai Kitchen is a great local restaurant and I have no doubt that it will continue its success. I would highly recommend them!

Thai Kitchen Temecula – Menu with Prices – 27520 Ynez Rd STE C1, Temecula

BEST THAI RESTAURANT EVER. NOT GOING ANYWHERE ELSE FOR THAI FOOD OTHER THAN THIS PLACE! Food was excellent and service was superb! We had the Thai Iced Tea, Crab Fried Rice, Tofu Yellow Curry, Thai Royal Noodles, Tom Kha, Chicken Teriyaki and Mango Sticky Rice! Everything was delicious and Thai Iced Tea was buy one get one free! You can ask them to make your thai iced tea less sweet if you want to btw. My favorite would be the Tom Kha, it’s the best I’ve had. The perfect balance between, sweet, sour, spicy, salty and creamy. My next favorite would be the crab fried rice. No words for it, it’s that good. The yellow curry is absolutely perfect with rice, whether it’s white or brown. Lastly, the Mango Sticky rice was the perfect way to end dinner if you want something not too sweet. I may be saying perfect too much throughout this review but it is what it is and you won’t regret dining/eating here. 100% will recommend to anyone even if you haven’t had thai food.

Thai Food Corner – Menu with Prices – 5253 E Brown Rd # 104, Mesa

My Mom is from Thailand and I’ve grown up with Thai cuisine. This is probably the worst “Thai restaurant” I have ever been to. The Larb was served on a lot of lettuce barely any meat. The red curry had absolutely no curry or coconut milk taste it looked and tasted like a bowl of oil. The cook came out and said he was still hungover from last night which made sense considering the food was so awful. If you want Americanized Thai food this is the place to go. I should’ve know better.. any Thai restaurant that has orange chicken on the menu is a red flag.

Malaysia style hala restaurant – Menu with Prices – 5205 Decatur Rd, Fort Wayne

This is a hole-in-the-wall Burmese/Malaysian restaurant, run by two brothers. One of the brothers is a well-trained chef, born in Burma and spent some time in Malaysia. I can’t believe I have found an authentic Burmese restaurant, run by a real chef in America! Restaurant was open just a few months ago but already gaining good reputation among Burmese patrons. For anyone who’s new to Burmese food, I’d recommend trying Mont-hin-ngar, beloved Burmese national dish made with fish-based noodle soup topped with crispy fried chana beans and hard-boiled egg. If you can take the heat, you will love Malaysian style fried rice with your choice of meat, dried anchovy and green chilli. It comes with a side dish called, Balachaung. It’s made with crispy fried onions, dried chili and dried shrimp. Another dish to try: Chicken masala – fried chicken, marinated with aromatic spices mixed by the owner himself. After enjoying the entrees, don’t forget to check out home-made desserts on the counter and the famous Falooda, made with coconut milk, ice cream and some sort of jelly. I’ve already been here several times in one month. Needless to say I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to try authentic Burmese and Malaysian foods. PS. The big menu on the wall was left by previous owner. Current owner sells the same items plus many more. He’s still working on his own menu.

Nantana Thai Food & Desserts – Menu with Prices – 707 Dundas St W, Toronto

I had the Pad Thai combo with Thai Iced Tea, and it was a lot better than what I would have expected from a random storage container shop at Market 707. I enjoyed it a lot! There were very generous amounts of tofu and chicken, and it had the perfect balance of flavour without being too overpowering. The dish also came with a lime slice and red pepper flakes on the side, for those who would like to mix it up a bit. The owner does substitutions and additions for some extra money depending on the substitution. I paid a bit more for an extra portion of the pad thai noodles. The Thai iced tea was very sweet and refreshing too. It was the perfect drink to sip on during the walk back to work. I would recommend Nantana to anyone that enjoys Pad Thai and Thai food in general. It was delicious.

Tuptim Thai Cuisine Menu with Prices 4896 Washtenaw Ave, Ypsilanti

Me and my husband both are huge fan of Thai cuisine. After leaving San Diego we never got many good Thai place to eat in Michigan, specially in Ann Arbor. Tuptim Thai Cuisine restaurant is just near my house but still I was reliant to try this place reading the reviews. Today at lunch I took my chances and went there. It wasn’t a bad experience but not a very good one either. They do have plenty of free parking space both sides of the restaurant. As soon I walked in I was seated by a very serious man. Both the servers one man and woman were nice to me, they came to ask if everything was ok but none of them smiled for once. Anyway back to the main thing – food. I am a huge huge fan of Penang Curr duck. As it was my first time there I wanted to order something safer. So I ordered Penang curry chicken. It came with a side vegetable tofu soup and one spring roll. The soup was simple yet fresh. The spring roll was ok. I never find much to compliment a spring roll as it has literally nothing inside of it. The curry on the other hand wasn’t good. It was simply pale. One of the main reasons I love Penang curry because of its coconut sauce which should always has a sweeter taste to it. In this case it was more towards spicy and paler side. Still it was ok but the vegetables they put in that curry was simply taken out from frozen bag and put it in there. Green peas, beans and carrots. The whole packaged vegetables they just threw in that curry. I couldn’t even eat my vegetables. I was very hungry when the food came. Seeing the portion of the rice I was thinking that I might have to order more but at the end I couldn’t eat the rice because the entire curry was so bland. I just picked up the chicken pieces and ate. The pricing is good. Specially with their quality of food I think it’s justified. I will probably go back again to try few more dishes and see if my idea of the place changes or not. This place is not terribly bad. I will be back I want to update my review based on my recent experience in this place. Last night me and my husband went there for dinner. We went around 6:30 pm and the place was quite full. The service this time was pleasant and prompt. Atmosphere was nice. We ordered Thai chicken fried rice and chicken Penang curry. The curry came with white rice on the side. I must say the food was good and huge portion. Specially the fried rice was excellent and very large portion. Usually around dinner time my husband’s appetite is skyrocketing. And he loves eating rice. So we have to order tons of rice. Yesterday also we were thinking we might have to order more rice but at the end we happily shared that one plate. In each bite we got huge size chicken. It was really well prepared dish. Although the curry on the other hand has the same problem I faced last time. They don’t prepare their veggies and chicken separately at all. The broth of the curry was really flavorful this time but the chicken was extremely blunt and flavorless. If they could have sautéed the chicken little bit before putting it into the curry it would have been a great dish. May be I am this critical about these preparations because I keep on comparing them with my west coast experience. We ended our dinner with their mango sticky rice and I must say that is one of the best mango sticky rice dish I have eaten in long time. It was cooked to perfection. Though I am not fully happy the way they cook their curry but I will still go there and experiment more new dishes along with excellent mango sticky rice.

Talay Thai Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 406 First St SE, Washington

Walking by Talay Thai, the place looks somewhat deserted. Walking into Talay Thai, you realize that you’ll be dining alone or with one or two other tables. Eating at Talay Thai, none of that really matters. We met a friend here on a Sunday night a few weeks back. I ordered a glass of wine, and while they only offered a small wine selection, they made up for it with a generous pour! First, we had the Curry Puffs as an appetizer, and they were crispy and not too spicy at all. For the main meal I had sweet and sour chicken with rice. The chicken was covered with the perfect amount of sauce and the veggies were grilled with lots of flavor and spice. I really enjoyed my meal. Overall, everything I ate was delicious Thai food and I’d recommend giving Talay Thai a try!

Zangna Thai Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 2604 S Shackleford Rd, Little Rock

My wife and I were looking for an alternative to the standard Steakhouse or Italian joint for dinner. We’ve been to several of the other restaurants on Shackleford but always noticed Zangna after the fact and said, ‘Some day we should give that a try’ Well, we gave it a try and are so glad we did! The place is fairly small and wide open. The decor is very modern with clean lines and looks spic and span to me. Staff was right there, very friendly and attentive. I ordered the yellow curry – fantastic!. The chicken was perfectly done, moist and super tender. The vegetables just right, not cold and raw (as I have gotten at other Thai places) but hot and al dente, not mushy either. The curry ‘soup’ was the classic coconut milk sweetness with a perfect hit of spice you expect from good Thai curry. Really, everything about it was just right. My wife is not normally a Thai fan either but she wanted something ‘lite and healthy’. She went with a Broccoli, Mushroom, Chicken dish in brown sauce (the name escapes me). Her experience was as good as mine. Tahi may be our new craving. I see some of the negative reviews below. Our experience was nothing like any of those. We will be back.

Boun’s Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 4-208 Marion St, Winnipeg

The menu here is a bit confusing as this restaurant calls itself an “Asian” restaurant. So which country in Asia? Well, I’d say foremost it’s Laotian but Laos and Thailand share similar cuisine, so there is definitely the flavours and the heat of Thai food here. Then there’s a few Vietnamese dishes and then the random Chinese dishes. Prices are very moderate and fair as most starters are $3-9 and most shareable entrees are $10-$13. I tried 3 curry dishes and they were all delicious! Definitely come here and order a bunch of dishes and share family style as they will bring you a big bowl of rice. You can order dishes here ranging from a heat quotient from 1-10. I have a high tolerance to spicy foods and eat spicy foods often so a “7” is perfect for a good hit of heat as I could still taste the food and not down water like crazy. I would order an 8 or 9 next time to see what that’s like but I think 3 would be good for most palates if you don’t eat spicy food that often and don’t bother adding any heat if you can’t eat spicy at all. The “panang curry” ($10.95) with chicken has coconut milk curry with green peas and lime leaf had a great creamy texture but not a lot of complexity in the curry. Although I really enjoyed this dish, I preferred the other two curries more. The “basa curry” ($11.95) was recommended by the server and with good reason – it was so yummy! You can select red, green or yellow curry and I opted for yellow curry with a fillet of basa (a white fish) with vegetables. Amazing sauce – definitely try this one! The matsaman “potato curry” ($10.95) can be made with chicken, beef, pork or shrimp and is cooked in coconut milk curry with potatoes, nuts and basil. The beef in this dish was tender and flavourful – I really liked the crunch of the peanuts in this dish too. The restaurant is located near Lovey’s in the strip mall on Marion Street – there’s very limited parking here so you might have to park on the street but there’s plenty of free 1-2 hour parking on the street. The interior space here is bright, modestly decorated and clean. Food was prepared fairly fast and the service was very friendly and warm. A lovely place for lunch or dinner (plus some to take home if you order a few dishes to share).

Yangon Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 7371 Madison Ave, Indianapolis

Greenwood/Southport has a large Burmese refugee population, which has opened many groceries, restaurants, and other businesses in the south-side area. Yangon is the latest restaurant to explore, if you are on a mission to visit all the local Burmese cuisine offerings. Yangon is also open until 9PM, which is a change from comparable Burmese places that sometimes start locking the doors at 7PM or earlier. The restaurant used to be a gyro/sandwich stop, with remnants of the old menu still posted. We visited around 7:30PM on a weekday and were the only customers. The menu offers traditional Burmese options, but I also saw “Japanese Ramen”, pho, General Tso’s chicken, and fried rice listed…so, there is a variety of Asian-influenced options. We ordered the “tea ice”, samusa, cold tofu salad, and konebong kyaw with pork. The “tea ice” was similar to a Thai iced tea, a refreshing lightly sweetened milk tea. The samusa were delicious fried pockets of garam masala-scented potatoes, that came with a sweet & sour style dipping sauce. For $3, we receive six (6) samusa, which was a great deal. The tofu salad was dressed with sprouts and a peanuty sauce; the salad was good, but needed a squirt of lime and Sriracha to liven up the flavors a bit. My dining partner has enjoyed konebong kyaw before, and liked Yangon’s pork version too…especially the huge chunks of stirfried bell peppers and ginger. The konebong stirfry had a salty & sweet taste, with hints of hoisin, fish, and soy sauces. Service was friendly, but I think they were getting ready for closing (and us pesky Westerners weren’t observing the typical early Burmese dinner time). Yangon is small and it doesn’t have the fanciest of atmospheres, but it is clean, prices are very reasonable, and each table has a selection of sauces (Sriracha, hoisin, etc.) to choose from. I hope to try the shan noodles, tea leaf salad, or the menu’s untranslated dishes during my next Yangon visit.
