I don’t often venture out into East Boston, but when I found myself with a few unexpected hours before dinner, I decided to hop on a train (blue line) to finally check out Helados Juli’s. Helados Juli’s was a short walk across Bremen Street Park from the Airport Station, just on the far side of a small market (Delicious Market) which seems to try to compete with Juli’s with its own line of ice creams, minutas (shaved ice), and smoothies, according to the poster decorating the bottom half of their door. Juli’s is a small space with no seating, but has two narrow wooden counters at either side of the entrance, at a height perfect for setting down your treats temporarily. Racks of packaged snacks line the walls along with a drink case and freezers filled with frozen treats. Ice cream from Richardson’s were found by the counter in eight flavors: Strawberry, Coconut, Vanilla, Rum Raisin, Chocolate, Pistachio, Oreo Cookie, and Orange Pineapple. I had headed out to Juli’s fully intending to order their Minuta Tropical $6.25+tax (strawberry sauce, a scoop of ice cream, shaved ice flavored with up to 3 flavors of your choice, fresh fruit, drizzled condensed milk and a dollop of homemade sweet tamarind puree on top), but witnessing a couple of their regulars with their orders convinced me to give the Salpicon $4.75 with ice cream (+tax) (fresh diced mango, watermelon, pineapple and bananas in a fruit punch drink with an optional scoop of ice cream on top and drizzled condensed milk) a try. The fruit drink cup was already prepped in the cooler nearby, though mine lacked the watermelon listed on the menu on this day. The coconut ice cream they topped it with was speckled with shredded coconut bits and left white rivets running through the bright red punch as it melted. The fruit, though sweet, ranged from ripe and soft to a bit on the hard side. I enjoyed my Salpicon and would be willing to get it again.

La Michoacana – Menu with Prices – 3840 Broadway Ste E, Rockford

First, we don’t ever wander over to this shopping center unless to go to Marcs. It is very run down! We Stopped in to try Vinnys pizza (on a recommendation) and walked in here while we were waiting for the pizza to be cooked. We grabbed three of the Popsicles. Not your dinky grocery store Popsicles. These were made with chunks of real fruit frozen in. They have about 20 fruit flavors made with coconut water like watermelon, cantaloupe, guava, mixed fruit and 20 cream flavors like strawberry and cream, caramel, and coconut. My son got a bubblegum cream one, hubby a strawberries and cream, and I got a mixed from with chile. Yes I said chile… I asked the lady which was most popular and she said that was it. We brought them home to eat after the pizza. My son scarfed his down and won’t let anyone taste, so that means he loved it. I took one bits of mine and it had great flavor, and than the chile set it. It was HOT HOt and not something I was used to and quickly learned it was not something I liked. My husband had a few bites of his and felt bad for me and gave me his. It’s was awesome! Big slices of strawberry in a wonderful gelato type cream. I can’t wait to go back to try those mango things!!! Pops are $2 and some change. Grab a few and bring them home to freeze. You won’t be sorry!!!

La Michoacana Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 1845 E 4th St, Ontario

Just came back from eating here and I can’t wait to go back! They have so many flavors in both ice cream and popsicles! Also fresh juices, corn on the cob, fruit bowls, shaved ice, and more! Ice cream Coconut (5 stars): One of the best coconut ice creams I’ve had! Caramel (4 stars) Tequila (4 stars) Strawberry cheesecake (4 stars) Cookies and Cream (4 stars) Vanilla (5 stars): One of the best vanillas I’ve had! Popsicles Strawberry with cream at the bottom (5 stars) Coconut (5 stars) SERVICE (5 star) Everyone was so nice here! The owner came out and let us try as many ice cream flavors as we liked. The woman working there was really nice too! Very welcoming. ATMOSPHERE The plaza isn’t the most fanciest place but when you go in here it’s nice and clean. They have tables inside and outside. PARKING In a plaza so parking is easy. Usually when I go to homemade ice cream places I only find one or two flavors I like but I liked everything I tried! Can’t wait to go back. My entire family loved it. I’m probably going to be addicted to this place.

Refresqueria Las Delicias – Menu with Prices – 4350 Airport Rd # 9, Santa Fe

The environment was clean and had a lot to choose from such as fruit, elote, snacks, and mexican candy. The only down fall is when I asked for an elote in a cup it had a lot of water and you can tell it was from a can (pale) and not cut fresh. It had no flavor as it was soupy from the water it was sitting in. Also, the fruit coctel I asked for half watermelon and pineapple with salt and limon. The watermelon was soft/mushy and the pineapple was from a can. Not fresh fruit and I paid 5.00 for a medium cup when I could have paid .98 cents for great value pineapple chunks. It was our first time going and will not be going back. Expected more!

Lilo’s Shaved Ice, LLC – Menu with Prices – 7617, 8300 N Oxford St, Kansas City

My trip to Lilo’s was quick because I went over my lunch break, but it was worth using up my time to go! I had a super work schedule so this is what I needed to CHILL me out. If you’re into cream slushes, this is right up your ally. I always appreciate a good cream slush, but Lilo’s shaved iced is different in the way that it’s significantly better. The slushy ice is on another level of cold. I took maybe two bites and had brain freeze lol. While there is ice cream in it there’s not a lot so it doesn’t completely overpower the fact that these are slushes. There are a ton of shaved ice syrup flavors to choose from and a few different ice cream flavors, along with toppings that will go well with whichever one you pick. I loved their specialty menu that is on the side of their little shack. I ended up getting the Arrowhead, which includes pineapple, tigers blood & mango with pineapple coconut ice cream & snow cap. Maybe I’m just ready for Chiefs season to be here already lol. But I’m basically going to go back every weekend and work my way down this menu because they all sound amazing.

The Hyppo Gainesville – Menu with Prices – 214 SE 2nd Ave #6812, Gainesville

Don’t even not: Hyppo is here for you and your various popsicle needs. Your unlikely dissatisfaction stems only from choosing the wrong pop which actually can’t happen. Not to say there aren’t tiers of greatness. You’ve got your standard flavors for those looking for an uncomplicated engagement, such as strawberry, watermelon, peach and various other fruit classics. (Btw, these vegan). They’ve got your dessert pop classics, too: key lime, chocolate pnut butt, orange cream, espresso (these got the dairy, for yous who need be snackin for some ice cream fix). But then there’s the special pops that elevate Hyppo. I first fell in love with pineapple cilantro. Dairy free with a transparent 5-bit recipe, this sweet is emblematic of their greatest treats. Interesting flavor combos that employ herbs, spices and other fun ingredients to get involved in the treat process in ways you probably haven’t considered. Need some more examps? How bout plum mint? Watermelon hibiscus? Blackberry can come with clove or goat cheese (both are STUPID good). Datil pepper plum is another favorite, followed by black pepper cantaloupe. I have w/ no doubt in my mind enjoyed 30+ pops across Florida, relatively guilt-free, too! Now it’s your turn, go support your pops.

Tsaocaa Florida – Menu with Prices – 10150 Beach Blvd unit 7, Jacksonville

To start off I just have to compliment the interior design of this cafe… so so cute and perfect for taking photos! The pretty pink walls are complimented by the cute cactus plants, adorable heart/ marble seating and tables, and also the big bubble chair (lol idk what it’s called) make every part of the cafe picture perfect. The line was quite long both times I went but it was expected since it’s the newest and cutest cafe in Jax so a lot of people of all ages are coming. – Onto the menu stuff… * Colorful Fruits Green Tea {$5.50}: Very refreshing and tastes kind of like a fruit punch drink although I tasted more of the passionfruit + orange flavor in it, overall 4/5 * Passionfruit & Lime Green Tea {$4.95}: Tastes very similar to the Colorful Fruits Green Tea except it’s slightly more sour and the passionfruit flavor is more propionate in this drink, overall 5/5 * Cocoa Bubble Milk {$4.75}: Tasted just like water mixed with some cocoa powder tbh, not sweet at all. Not really a distinctive chocolatey taste like I thought, overall 1/5 * Strawberry Green Tea with Milk Foam {$5.25}: MY FAVORITE DRINK by far, if you like sweet drinks this is the one for you! Super sweet and even though I don’t enjoy strawberries that much, I got it since it was very pretty and I’m not disappointed at all. Once you start finishing the drink, the cheese milk foam is kind of mixed together with bits of strawberries and crushed iced and it’s like a sweet crunchy whip cream flavor, definitely 5/5 * Brown Sugar Milk Tea {$4.95}: Another sugary sweet drink as well, tastes like a standard milk tea just a lot sweeter and the boba was very chewy but I liked it, overall 5/5 * Watermelon Green Tea with Crystal Foam {$5.55}: Although I love watermelon, this drink kind of wasn’t for me, tasted exactly like a watermelon except that it’s flavor was kind of washed down in a way… less sweet and texture is mushy, overall 3/5 – Like I said before you must take pics at such a cute place like this, and it would helpful if a big menu was set up somewhere instead of the paper menus at the front to help ordering go through faster though, but overall definitely coming back and checking out some more drinks!

Don Jose Paleteria – Menu with Prices – Garland

I walked here on my lunch break and was greeted by a jolly man. The shop is clean, selection is great and prices are low. Six paletas for under $5! I’m eating the mango with chile and it’s so refreshing with a heat that sneaks up on you. I also walked away with the coconut, pineapple, pecan, watermelon and cantaloupe paletas… can’t wait to gobble them up. I will return for sure, I want to try everything they have to offer… sno-cones, ice cream, snacks and fruit.

Cupcake Cutie Etc. – Menu with Prices – Court Square, 109 S Ct Ave, Memphis

We end up coming here pretty often. The owners are great and very friendly and I appreciate that they let me use their bathroom. This place specializes in build-your-own cupcakes. You can mix and match any base flavor with any cream and top it with a number of fun toppings. My favorite base is the strawberry one and the pineapple one because they have little bits of their respective fruit mixed into the batter and it’s always a delight when I get a bite of one. I’ve tried a bunch of random combinations but my favorite thing to do is to ask them what they think goes well with what I’ve chosen. Sometimes it works out and sometimes I have to adjust it later but I usually leave with an awesome cupcake that is at least enjoyable, even if not my all-time favorite. They are also very accommodating here. They will add sparkles, color, and chocolate or caramel syrup for free. The sparkles are really popular with the people I have brought with me to visit. The large comes with one free topping, otherwise all toppings are .50 each. They have a rack to the side of discount cupcakes you can buy. They’re on sale because they were made the previous day. I usually check what they have there first. Oh, don’t forget to come in on your birthday for a free cupcake! To Try: French Vanilla Cupcake Butter Cupcake Key Lime Cupcake with Whipped Cream Frosting and Fruity Pebbles Love: – Cream Cheese Frosting – Pineapple Cupcake – Pineapple Cupcake with Whipped Cream Frosting and Coconut Topping – Strawberry Cupcake – Strawberry Cupcake, Buttercream Icing, Caramel Drizzle Like: – Buttercream Frosting – Chocolate Frosting – Cream Cheese Frosting (but can overwhelm other flavors) – Key Lime Cupcake with Cream Cheese Frosting and Fruity Pebbles – Lime Margarita Cupcake – Whipped Cream Frosting Ok: – Chocolate Cupcake with Chocolate Frosting – Chocolate Cupcake with Peanut Butter Frosting – Cookies and Cream Cupcake (Thursdays only) – Lemon Cupcake – Strawberry Cupcake with Whipped Frosting Dislike: – Caramel Frosting – Lemon Cupcake with Whipped Frosting – Strawberry Cupcake with Caramel Frosting, Caramel Drizzle, & Coconot Shavings (hubby liked)

Hula Girls Shave Ice, Dole Whip & Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 16556 Bolsa Chica Rd, Huntington Beach

First off, it’s quite an adventure to find Dole Whip anywhere outside of Disneyland/Disney World that is actually authentic. When I learned that there was a Hawaiian shaved ice place that specializes in Dole Whip, my friend and I jumped at the opportunity to take a little road trip here. The shaved ice place is located in the middle of a strip mall. It seems that they change up their Dole Whip flavors up, and on this day, they offered a raspberry/pineapple Dole Whip swirl. They also offer an array of different shaved iced flavors, including lychee, li hing mui, and guava. I was SO torn between getting the Dole Whip float or the shaved ice, but ultimately, I decided on the Dole Whip float. The float comes with unsweetened pineapple juice on the bottom, a generous swirl of sweet, tangy, and creamy goodness, topped with a decorative umbrella and maraschino cherry. Eat this fast, because they do tend to melt quickly. The texture was so creamy and punched with pineapple flavor. I appreciated the fact that they added an unsweetened pineapple juice; otherwise, the dessert would be entirely too sweet. I can now say, I am a Dole Whip fan for sure. If I am ever in the area again anytime soon, I will come back to try the shaved ice. Tip: If you check in, you get 15% off of your order!

Berry Bear Frozen Yogurt & Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – Riverpoint Plaza, 2341 Madison St, Clarksville

I’ve been here multiple times in the past. I stopped in yesterday because I was at the dollar tree and why not, treat yo self. (Okay, this statement is single handedly the reason why I can’t lose weight lol). Anyway, at least it’s frozen yogurt and not ice cream and I usually get sorbet anyway. I was so excited to have their pineapple sorbet. To my disappointment, the machine for the pineapple was down….. so watermelon sorbet it is. I got my usual toppings, although something was definitely missing and I could Kent think of what. I got the little boba balls, granola, coconut, and to top off…. gummy bears lol. I’m a child at heart. It was delicious. Place was full and the one lady working seemed super busy. It’s a decent spot to stop in and get your sweet fix.

Natural-e Delicious – Menu with Prices – 200 S Euclid Ave, Ontario

Recommended for: ~Healthy alternatives ~Sweet Treats ~FRUIT FRUIT FRUIT I cannot believe that its been three years since Natural and Delicious came to town and since my last review. I figured i should update it since I’m a regular and all. I still focus mostly on the fruit side of things although I’ve had the homemade veggie soup and the salads. Everything here is tasty. I’ve been a good girl and steered clear of the ice cream, though!!! But, they have some interesting flavors of that! I still love the pico de gallo the best, although these days I skip the chamoy! I’ve also found that a couple of the fruit drinks they make are actually my style of smoothie with a lot of fresh veggies blended. One is the V8 and the other is the Toronjil or U Name It, which is my favorite – a blend of spinach, celery, pineapple and grapefruit juice. Its fits the bill when I’m too lazy to make my own green smoothie! The nice thing is they will customize the drinks for you. most of the other drinks have sugar or dairy, but there are options! If you’re nearby and you aren’t being refreshed here, you need to do so!

The Shaved Ice Bar – Menu with Prices – 19810 Village Center Dr # 130, Fort Myers

It’s the classic story. Boy wants ice cream, girl doesn’t want to go into a lactose intolerant coma. Cue, Hannah Montana “You get the best of both worlds.” This Shaved Ice bar has just about any flavor you could want in addition to natural flavorings and pillowy ice. The biggest shock was that The Shaved Ice Bar also has craft ice cream! The boyfriend got Dutch chocolate and cookie dough with sprinkles while I went with a classic blue raspberry and strawberry shaved ice. They also have nitro coffee and wireless charging mats on all the tables so you can charge your phone while you enjoy the shaved ice. We will absolutely be back! Pro tip: if you save your spoon and bring it back the next time you get a topping for free.
