I recently had a chance to visit Erin Baker’s retail shop on Ohio St. and I was SHOCKED I had never been here before! This place is simply adorable, decorated in a classic kitchen style with cabinets full of Erin Baker’s cookies, granola, and all sorts of yummy goodness. One of the coolest things about this place is they have Erin Baker’s granola in BULK! So if you just need a little bit (or a lot) you have options galore. They also sell specialty baking ingredients and the prices are really good. I walked out of here feeling like I’d been let in on a Bellingham secret! If you love Erin Baker’s products, or you’re a baker yourself, definitely check this place out.

Midwest Bakers Supply – Menu with Prices – 2716 NW 10th St, Oklahoma City

Outstanding supply source for the professional and semi professional baker located kinda sorta not really by the fairgrounds. They have their own private parking lot which even though it is shared with a half dozen other businesses will never fill up. This part of tenth isn’t anything showy or um, nice to look at. It’s got that urban gritty look and you’ll get no indication of just how awesome this place is from the outside. This is a largish store that specializes in all things baking -and this includes candy making items as well. They carry, supply, service, sell or otherwise have available everything you will need to bake with. This is not a sonoma williams clone. They will not necessarily have fashionable color coded serving plates. What they will have is durable strongly made kitchen equipment some of which is quite specialized. They do not carry flour, sugar and suchlike but rather the full range of baking tools-molds, spoodles, crimpers and a full range of bowls, blenders/mixers,springerle rollers and oh so much more. They also have all manufacturing types-wood, ceramics, stainless steel, copper, silicon and whatever else baking gear can be made from. Additionally they carry peter’s baking chocolate-in bulk, along with several other brands of chocolate, caramel, fondant, flavorings, coloring, saf-instant yeast, marzipan, true Madagascar vanilla, etc available by the pound. There is a also the full range–they pretty much have the entire catalog in stock-of wilson candy products. Pricing is whatever you want it to be ranging from a few dollars for a can opener that actually works to several thousand for a 50 pound capacity dough machine. If you both know what a pie comb (or a bakers blade) is and also how to use it, this place is for you.

Juice It Up! – Menu with Prices – 5244 University Pkwy A, San Bernardino

I go to this juice it up often and have always appreciated the service. I was in about a month ago and paid for a drink and granola, I was already in the car when I realized they didn’t give me my granola, oh well no big deal. My daughter and I went in today I ordered two drinks and granola, when we were leaving I asked for my granola and the cashier gave it to me. I heard the owner say did she pay for granola, I guess the cashier forgot to charge me so she sent the cashier after me to the car to get the granola back. Wow! How much was she going to lose from one cup of granola- I work in a tipping position and I always tip. This will be the last time I go there, the manager must be hurting for every little cent. I can make this at home. Zero stars

The Triple Knock – Menu with Prices – 2713 6th Ave, Tacoma

One star might suffice since it was fun playing pinball and the selection was okay but the service by Erin was absolutely terrible. After my SECOND beer of the night, my friends and I were denied service across the street with almost no intoxication and it was due to her call to them. At the time of service, Erin mixed the name “Daron/Darren” up and didn’t ask the last name on the tab therefor charging us for the wrong tab (The correct Daron paid after we received our drink.) We wanted to fix the situation and compensate the correct tab but she refunded the first and accused us of stealing as we walked out after being asked to leave. She then called the other bars in the area and accused us of being too drunk for service. Again, we had only one beer prior and were fully cognizant of the situation at hand. Erin’s poor service and handling of the situation will prevent us from coming back to this bar or recommending it to other friends and family. We understand having to be firm with drunk idiots that cause problems in the bar but to accuse us of various acts as well as call other bars to refuse us service after we called her out on HER mistake is absolutely ridiculous. If you do go to this bar, check to see if the “manager” Erin is working before you order your drinks. You would be better off going to Crown Bar next door or even Half Pint, even though we were denied service, if you want to play pinball.

Pemberton Farms Marketplace – Menu with Prices – 2225 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge

As someone committed to shopping locally (especially food), trying to reduce packaging, and who eats vegan, I really love having Pemberton Farms available. Their new bulk foods section is awesome and I got a lot of snack foods to last me through the week for affordable prices. I love that I can buy bulk beans, rice, etc. as well as fill up on bulk hand soap, laundry detergent, cleaner, olive oil, kombucha, etc. without always buying the packaging. They have tons of variety of goods and have become even more well stocked in recent months. Staff are always friendly and check out quickly. They don’t automatically give you a receipt – they either ask or you have to ask for it. Cons: They are definitely pricey. They stock more expensive kinds of items, and I assume that they also have higher prices because they’re locally owned. It is my strong hope that these higher prices reflect better wages for the workers as that’s why I’m willing to pay them.

Angkor Asian Market – Menu with Prices – 4753 N Pershing Ave, Stockton

I was extremely happy to see and know there was a Cambodian grocery supermarket. I’m from Canada and this was no Cambodian store. There no Cambodian supermarkets where I lived. Extremely large, Specialty selections of Imported Cambodian grocery: products and foods selections. Top quality products. I’m very impressed with the imported top quality Cambodian foods and products. From imported fresh foods, Appetizers, snacks, to imported Cambodian Beauty, and household products too. There are also imported Specialty Japanese, Taiwan, and other part of Asia Ethnic Speciality Flavours too. I’m beyond impressed with the stores extremely large selections of Specialty Asian cans, spices, noodles, snacks, and other ethnic foods selections. This is a lot compared to bigger Supermarket Asian chains. I bought a few things. I left and love all my products and foods I bought. The snacks was delicious. The quality, taste and prices are inexpensive too. I had a really good experiences that I had to write a a Review. I will be coming here a lot. Other Benefits: -Free Parking -Accept Payments: Debit/Credit/Cash

Acme pie company Menu with Prices 2803 Columbia Pike, Arlington

I really wanted to like Acme’s pies, but in the end, I feel like these bakers don’t understand their medium and the kind of people who like to eat pie. First, they use vegetable shortening for their crusts, which is great for vegans. But for people reared on flaky crusts, butter or especially lard are the gold standard for a crispy, flaky crust. The crust was ok but not great–about what you would expect from a cafeteria pie or a Pillsbury rollout crust. It was the filling where these pies really went off the rails. Acme was kind enough to let me try the lemon chess in the store. It was nearly inedible–so overly saturated with nutmeg that it tasted like soap. I purchased 2 pies–a key lime with coconut and a sour cherry with a (non-vegan) crumble top. The key lime was the better of the two though I prefer a non-standard, less bitter filling. They definitely went hard for the lime zest! The cherry was, frankly, disappointing. The crumble top helped to salvage the vaguely greasy side crust, but the filling was unforgivable. In fairness to Acme, I ate this pie as a leftover, so it had been refrigerated overnight. But, unfortunately, that refrigeration gave up the game. (And frankly, it is a NORMAL thing to do, to eat leftover pie for breakfast.) There was precisely ONE CHERRY in the filling on a 2″ slice. Further, the filling was so aggressively spiced that it tasted like a Christmas candle. I admire Acme’s desire to turn pie-baking into an art form, as one employee explained to me when I called to inquire about their selection. The problem is, millions of bakers have already quietly done this in their home kitchens, with children and grandchildren, on special occasions and when the fruit comes in. Pie doesn’t need to be complicated, and it doesn’t need to be reinvented. Fruit pies should celebrate the fruit, and pie crusts should celebrate the skill of the baker. Less is more. These bakers are well-intentioned, and I want to support local businesses. But that cherry pie just made me sad…and miss my Great Aunt Doris.

Health Trail Natural Foods – Menu with Prices – 10848 Warwick Blvd, Newport News

I’m so happy to have found this place, I can finally have a closer drive for my vegan/vegeterian products! This place has your basic health food store stuff like shake mixes, fresh produce, nuts, vitamins, essential oils, beauty products and spices as well as canned goods. It’s located near the Hilton area in NN in the strip by a Food Lion. Lots of parking and generally a safe area. The staff here is great! There knowledgable and if they don’t have an item they recommend a place that does and they even help you with recipes for homemade products. I like getting my essential oils for my homemade products here, they also sell other base products like castille, vitamin E and vegeable glycerin. The prices are a tad bit more expensive than the Vitamin Shoppe but theres more quality. I also get their vegan protein powders here too, lots of brands but Garden of Life is the best! They have lots of discounts usually on this brand as well as others. Theres a couple of fridges that sell frozen and chilled items, most of the brands you could get at target and a nicer food lion…like the one next door( i.e boca, morning star and amys) but they also have some rarer goodies like chilled wheatgrass, rice/almond cheese and a good variety of ice cream. The produce section is tiny but its kept in great shape! Lots of energy bars and the homeopathic medication has a lot of selection. Theres a good sized nut section for a good deal. They do bulk orders in advance. They have seasonal feature items on the endcap and they sell loads of teas. However, my favorite part of the store is definitely their spices. They have all sorts of spices and I usually buy one I’ve never heard of and later research a dish I can make with it. For being atypical spices I feel its a super cheap price at 1.50. Overall, I recommend this place to anyone on the Peninsula as the SE side has stores just as great, dare I say better ( Heritage in Va Beach + Organic Depot in Norfolk). But for NN its a great little find way better than the health food store in yorktown.

Real Deal Sleep – Menu with Prices – 10755 Westview Pkwy A-2, San Diego

I honestly can’t say enough about this place. I went in to check out the stock. I wanted to go to a place where I could actually feel the beds instead of ordering something online that I find out I don’t like a month later. The people working in this store really care about your quality of sleep. I ended up purchasing a Posh and Lavish natural latex Zero gravity Adjustable base sleep system with massage feature, lumbar support AND separate pillow-tilt! This thing is ridiculous. I have had it for over 2 months and there is not one day I regret this purchase. I use every single one of the options daily. On top of that, I purchased the pillows, sheets and mattress covers they sell in the store. I purchased two sets and I can’t imagine every going back to any other products for my bed. In addition, I ended up buying a bed in a box mattress for one of my Airbnb rentals. My guests love it! On top of all of this, they offer 0% financing for all of their products. I shopped around and compared prices and you cannot beat these guys. They have the best costumer service and even called to check in a couple of times since I have purchased the mattresses. This is the best mattress store on the planet! Check out their reviews here and on their other store. It is what led me here in the first place! Thank you to everyone at Real Deal for your excellent service and helping me get the best sleep I have had in years!

Portello Wine Cafe Menu with Prices 2754 NW Crossing Dr # 104, Bend

Visiting from out of state, and was looking for a place to have a nice glass of wine and I found this wonderful place. Walked into the restaurant and was immediately greeted by wonderful and welcoming staff. I sat outside and Erin my server came and greeted me with a warm smile. I ordered a Red Blend and she described the taste to a tee. I ordered their Antipasti plate and it did not disappoint. For dessert I ordered their Chocolate Soufflé and it was to die for. Even though they closed at 9:00, they welcomed late customers with a smile and never let them feel rushed. Overall, this will be my place to come to when visiting Bend. Fantastic Service, Food and Wine. Thank you Erin for making my first time at Portello an amazing one.

European Deli Marietta – Menu with Prices – 3101 Roswell Rd, Marietta

Well, my husband decided to give a try to those European “delicacies”, and overall it was very disappointing experience. First of all, and worst of all, they sell out-of-date products. They put self-made stickers and sell products (for us it was cookies). I saw it at home that under the sticker there is other date. Overall, cookies were half-year out-of-date. Secondly, they advertise special prices on goods, and do not apply them while at the counter. Example: farmer’s cheese for $3.50 became full-priced $4.99, whereas its shelf life was going to the end. And last, but not least: service. The lady at the counter said nothing at all. No “hello, how are you doing, etc”. That was gorgeous Soviet customer service, I guess. Well, won’t recommend to anyone. One bug may be just a fluke, but three in one shopping trip, where one of them might have cost my family health?! Will try to post this review whenever I could. Don’t let anyone cheat on you.

Morning Glory Chai – Menu with Prices – 9716 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle

Stopped by the brewery in Greenwood one day to check it out. First, though you can buy the products there, it is not set up to be a retail space, nor is it a cafe. It’s where they brew, package, and wholesale the products. There is actually just one large vat that does the brewing. I would absolutely love one day, for them to offer a tour/tasting experience with merchandise! Something like Theo Chocolate does. I walked out with a mini jug of spiced chai, a brew at home bag of chai, and two ready to drink LEMON CHAIs. The lemon chai is to die for!!!!! Also, I thought the prices were very reasonable!

River Maiden – Menu with Prices – 5301 E Mill Plain Blvd, Vancouver

I have been going to River Maiden since 2006. Even though I have not lived in the area since 2010, I still make sure to stop when traveling through because the coffee is always perfect and the food is so good. I’ve been fortunate enough to stop 3 times this month even though I live in Seattle. First, the coffee is always perfect. The beans are from Stumptown, and the baristas receive training so they can guarantee customer satisfaction. When they pull shots, they aren’t messing around or being negligent in the process. The temperature is always perfect no matter what kind of milk or milk alternative you order. I was impressed to see that they have two machines at their new location, so they can quickly serve customers their coffee at the drive through window and inside the cafe. Second, the food is amazing. It’s not just the flavor that’s great, it’s the freshness of ingredients and the careful attention put into making sure it’s prepared correctly. They have a small menu of salad, granola, and sandwiches. There are gluten free and vegan options. I have never had chia seed pudding prepared correctly anywhere else. Not only that, but the red cabbage that was in my salad seemed slightly marinated in a vinaigrette, and the sweet potato pieces were cooked just right. My grandmother had a breakfast sandwich, and she was really impressed with the freshness of the eggs and bread. When I ordered the chia seed pudding, they asked to verify if I wanted honey on top to make sure if I was vegan or had allergies. They are so considerate of customer dietary restrictions and needs. The owners take extra strides to ensure they are providing you with super tasty meal that is also healthy. Third, I rarely come across better customer service. Everyone working there quickly remembers your name and your drink if you become a regular. They greet you warmly and give compliments, even on my Bunnicula t-shirt one day. Their smiles can be contagious. It’s the kind of place you want to keep going back to if not for the amazing coffee, food, and plentiful seating options with big windows and succulent plants galore, but just the welcoming feeling you get as a patron. So, if you like a good cup of coffee and perhaps you are feeling a little hungry for breakfast or lunch, I strongly encourage you to make this a place to check out. If you drive or ride your bike there, I recommend going via N Blandford Drive since the tree canopy is gorgeous along that road. Maybe take your coffee to Vancouver’s Waterfront Renaissance Trail along the Columbia River. Maybe after one visit, you will even find yourself getting excited when driving towards Vancouver because the best coffee shop on Earth is located there.
