I tried Netos for the first time today. You can order Mexican food. There’s a small but clean dine-in area inside the store. They also carry Mexican groceries and baked goods. Their freshly baked bread smelled amazing and they all looked great too (my photo). TOSTADAS I was here for tostadas. Tostadas are not on the menu but they can make them for you. Compared with the tostadas from Taqueria Tecalitlan on Barkley, tostadas here are more filling because there’s more meat and more beans. They are significantly more expensive here, though. About $4.00 here as opposed to $2.50 at Taqueria Tecalitlan. In terms of the quality and taste of tostadas, I thought these two places are comparable. PROS +They are open late and open 7 days a week (although many Mexican places are closed on Sunday). +They have tostadas. Many places (including California Tacos and Mi Rancho Meat Market) do not have tostadas. +They have fresh baked breads. Today, I saw them making a big birthday cake in the back. +They sell beer. I assume they also serve beer too. CONS -Everything else seemed to be priced reasonable. While they are very filling, the tostadas were significantly more expensive here as I mentioned above. I will definitely come back and try other food. ***************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit “useful” so that I can improve my reviews. Taqueria La Loma Menu with Prices 459 Darrow Rd, Akron

I have long held the position that Taqueria La Loma is one of the best restaurants in Northeast Ohio. For years they have commanded five star reviews from hundreds and hundreds of people. Read my earlier review for a little background on the restaurant and for recommendations on my favorite things here. But they keep getting even better. The beauty of La Loma is in there dedication to authenticity and making everything from scratch in house every day. They are always consistent and the food is always fantastic. They have employees that care about what they do and have been around since the beginning. Recently they transformed half of their attached store into a panadería, or, Mexican bakery. And the dedication for authentic flavors and not taking shortcuts is clearly seen in all of the delicious traditional Mexican pastries and breads that they continuously bake throughout the day. If you are unfamiliar with traditional Mexican pastries I recommend that you try their take on Chamuco, Gallina, Coyota, and various Pan Fino such as Leo and Cuerno. Some of these are shown in the attached pictures. If you like authentic Mexican food or just appreciate the best-in-class of any particular cuisine then you really need to take a trip to Taqueria La Loma and experience a little bit of Mexico City thousands of miles north in Akron, Ohio.

Alibertos jr fresh mexican food – Menu with Prices – 507 W Casino Rd, Everett

This is my favorite place to get Mexican from in Everett. Iâ??ve only ever ordered on DoorDash, but even being delivered the food is always still so hot. I wish their menu on the app had a bit more information because a lot of the times my order comes with a soda without me knowing and then Iâ??m given just any soda. Other than that the food is outstanding. It is so simple, tacos just come with lettuce and cheese but seriously the meat is so juicy and flavorful that I would be just as happy if all they came with was just the meat. The tostadas are also so good, they are huge and filling. Iâ??d rather order from here than go to any sit in restaurant around here.

Pupuseria Y Taqueria La Vina – Menu with Prices – 3301 N Story Rd, Irving

I have to admit Ive never really had a pupusa before. But I will say after eating here, I will be back for more! This place isnt as much as a dive as people make it. Its not fancy, but Ive been to worse looking places. I ordered a medley of things, since I wanted to try a little of everything. The fried corn tamale was excellent. The crema for dipping made it even better! I Recommend everyone order at least one of those. The pupusa was far better than I could have imagined. To me, its like a thin pita you eat with a fork. The masa was soft, flavorful, and dirt cheap. The filling isnt jammed packed, but whats there is delicious. The pork and cheese as my favorite, but the loroco and cheese was good too. The chicken tamale was probably my least favorite item, but it was still a good tamale. The filling could have been spread out better, but I can tell they make them fresh. The tacos were the surprise factor here. These tacos are tucked away on the mexican menu, but they have a strong al pastor game. I recommend everyone get a few tacos while here. The tostadas are just like their tortilla chips, which have great character. If you order the tostadas, realize that the portions will be huge. They give three medium sized tostadas with a good amount of toppings. The beef was well pronounced. The crema and queso fresco were fresh and were the workhorse of the flavor. The veggies were fresh and just the right amount in proportion to everything else. The tostadas are just like their tortilla chips, which have great character. Once the meal was over, my bill was so low! I dont know how they can afford to sell their items so low, but its great if you’re on a budget. I will be back here again, and I will definitely try more items.

Sol Taqueria – Menu with Prices – 5447 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis

Sol Taqueria is a few blocks north on Nicollet Ave from my favorite, Taqueria Victor Hugo 2 which is located in Bobby and Steve’s Auto World (go figure). Since Victor Hugo is close by and much better, I would not go back to Sol Taqueria. I had the platillo which consisted of a meat of my choice, black beans, rice, a small tomato and guacamole salad, salsa verde, and tortillas. I had the barbacoa as my meat. Victor Hugo has a similar platillo except you get three tacos instead of a single meat and can thus have some variety in the meat as opposed to a single choice. The barbacoa was essentially pot roast with no south of the border spices I could detect. There were no cilantro, radishes, chopped onions, Mexican cheese, limes, etc. All of the condiments associated with tacos were missing. The beans, rice, and tortillas tasted like what you can get at a local supermarket. The location of Sol Taqueria was previously a Topper PIzza which did not last long and I am not hopeful for the current occupant. After reading my review I perhaps should have given two stars rather than three.

Panaderia San Miguel – Menu with Prices – 1419 E Erwin St, Tyler

Taqueria San Miguel is a wonderful place. Ysidro is the happy owner, as well he should be. It is the central point of the neighborhood, and the walk up traffic is steady. They make mexican bread, fruit waters, and, of course, a great taqueria. All types of tacos present themselves, and a lot of english speakers seek this place out because it’s worth the effort. On the weekends, menudo, birria de chivo, and carnitas are offered. The mango liquada is the best I’ve ever had. All types of folks eat there, and I enjoy people watching. This is real mexican food, it ain’t tex-mex, and they don’t really make provision for delicate gringo tastes. It’s really like being in Mexico, in a popular neighbor taqueria-panaderia-fruteria. Everything I’ve eaten there has been first rate, and you should give TSM a try. Once you’ve eaten authentic Mexican food, you realize what tex-mex really is, pablum….

Ely’s Tacos – Menu with Prices – 416 W 6th St, Corona

I no longer have to drive 2-3 hours deep into Tijuana to get real authentic Mexican sea food anymore, I only have to drive literally 5 mins into this diamond in the rough. I came in to wait for my car to be washed, I decided to eat here and probably one of the best decisions I’ve made. I saw the ceviche tostadas and I asked the owner, who’s an awesome welcoming guy, if he could give me the tostadas on the side and the ceviche in a plate since I like to scoop it out with the tostadas, and this is what he came out of the kitchen with. And honestly I was full with joy as I was eating it since hands down I take the risk to say that this was a lot better than what I’ve had recently in Tijuana, and at half the price! Honestly go and taste it for yourself and believe me it won’t disappoint! I mean I was so pleased and happy I even left them tip haha! Gracias!

Taqueria La Authentica Michoacana – Menu with Prices – 1218 Broadway St, Toledo

The Old South End is one of Toledo’s neighborhoods with, historically, a concentrated Mexican immigrant population. Naturally, you might expect to find some pretty great Mexican food around here. Taqueria La Autentica Michoacana will meet, and probably exceed, your expectations. The obvious comparison, TLAM versus San Marcos (just down the street) is no comparison at all. Taqueria La Autentica Michoacana wins in a landslide. TLAM is what San Marcos used to be, about 10 years ago, before San Marcos got popular. If authenticity is your thing, then this is your place. The food here is authentic and unlike some authentic food, it ISN’T made with cheap-crap ingredients. The ingredients at TLAM are high quality, and they’re put together very well. The food is fantastic. Beer and pop, both mostly Mexican, are available. Service has always been FFA…fast, friendly, accurate. The atmosphere? Comfortable. A little rough around the edges perhaps, but still very comfortable. Location? “Historic.” Stars? FIVE!

Emillio’s Bakery – Menu with Prices – 3905 State St, Salem

I found this place thanks to a coworker who told me about it while I was visiting Salem. They said the Mexican bread is fresh and they have these amazing breakfast sandwich things. I went, and the outside doesn’t look like much, and honestly you wonder what you might find inside. Looks don’t always means anything because it was filled with delicious pastries insides! I went at 8am and everything was super fresh. Pastries were warm, you could smell fresh breads being baked, and you could just tell they’d been up for hours getting things ready. I ordered a few pastries, which you just grab a tray, some tongs, and go to the display and grab them yourself. Kind of like when you go to the grocery store and grab your own donuts. Then i asked the man for some breakfast sandwich things and omg they were fresh out of the oven! They are these delicious breads filled with cheese and ham or you could get cheese and jalepeno. The filling is literally baked inside the fresh baked bread. There are no holes or cuts where they just filled prebaked bread with cheese. Honestly, since I’ve had them I can’t stop thinking about them. My picture attached doesn’t do it justice at all. The most amazing breakfast items I’ve had. Plus, i paid about $12 for 5 pastries and 5 sandwiches which was a great deal.

Bakersville Bread Company – Menu with Prices – 233 W King St Suite B, St. Augustine

Stopped in the owners are nice. I sampled the cheese bread, it was good. Kid enjoyed the soft pretzel. I requested a sample of the cinnamon raisin bread. They only had the loaf for purchase. When I got home it had a previously baked date on it. I assumed the bread was baked freshly daily. I should of ask. Both breads were good. They have a Facebook page that list’s there available breads daily. Just ask when the bread was made if your looking for fresh bread baked that day. I give it a 4/5 and I’ll be back.

BRUG Bakery Kahala – Menu with Prices – 4618 Kilauea Ave #8, Honolulu

If I could only eat at one place for the rest of my life, it would be Brug Bakery. I am utterly obsessed with all of their breads (and as a pastry fanatic, I’ve tried all kinds of baked goods in different countries), both savory and sweet. Their breads are so soft and reminds me of the ones that you would find in an actual bakery in Japan. Plus, their prices are very reasonable. PLUS they have the Five Star rewards – for every $5 you spend, you get a point! I think you have to accumulate 20 points to get $10 off. Knowing me, my hands always go for the sweet options, even though I know deep down in my heart that the savory options are just as good (and that my sugar intake is reaching a dangerous high). I picked up a Black Cherry Tart ($3.25) and a Blueberry Kase ($2.95) for breakfast. I’ve always loved the Black Cherry Tart, ever since my friend brought one back for me and got me hooked on it. The dense tart shell is to die for, and the almond filling isn’t too sweet, which I love. I’m not a huge fan of the cherries on top, so I pluck them off sometimes, but that’s just a personal preference. This was my first time trying the Blueberry Kase and it wasn’t something I would go back for, but I’m definitely glad i finally tried it! I’ve been eyeing this one out every time I went to any location, and i finally brought myself to get it. It’s essentially cream cheese & blueberries stuffed in between white bread, then baked off with their sweet biscuit dough on the outside. I found that the bread itself was a little dry for my liking, but all the flavors were absolutely delicious! I love trying all the different breads here and can’t wait to try the rest! .. But I’ve tried almost everything so I’m running out of “new” options to try at Brug lol

Taqueria Mi Guanajuato – Menu with Prices – 3909 Minnehaha Ave, Minneapolis

[Same as Sosa Foods profile and review] Hole in the wall taqueria counter in a convenience store. These are my favorite kind of finds. Apparently the location has changed hands a few times, with the current iteration a Mexican Taqueria. Meat choices are bountiful, and more varied than the familiar places on Lake Street: carne asada (steak), al pastor (marinated pork), carnitas (pulled pork), chorizo (sausage), lengua (beef tongue), chicken, Picadillo (seasoned beef), y Chili Negro. Additional meats available on the weekend are Cabeza (beef head meat), y Tripas (tripe). Also Menudo (tripe soup) on the weekends. I ordered tripas, cabeza, y lengua in three tacos. If you pay with card they give you a sticky note with the total and go to the checkout counter to pay. At $8.12 for three tacos it’s about right compared to the closest famous taqueria: Pineda Taco at 55 and Lake. However, I thought it was a little high for what the place is. Seriously their rent has got to be a fraction of the competition I will list below. In terms of speed of service for a taqueria they were slow. We’re used to Pineda Taco, El Riendo Taco (NE), El Taco Loco (Columbia Heights), Mercado Central (Lake St) y Maya (NE) where the tacos are immediate. They are slower than Taqueria La Hacienda (Lake St). As for food quality it was yummy. They are a little light on seasoning compared to the competition though. Overall it’s all legit and authentic. They do fill a void in Longfellow where this really is the only place. It would be a fun stop on your way to or from Minnehaha Park, and you don’t want to deal the craziness on Lake Street. Next time I’ll for sure try the Menudo. Minus one star for speed of service and price.

Yum Yum Donuts – Menu with Prices – 16530 Soledad Canyon Rd, Canyon Country

Yum Yum is one of my favorite places to stop by when I need some coffee or a bagel on my way to work. They’re super friendly, they’re very reasonable priced, and they offer such a wide variety of sandwiches/bagels/donuts/drinks/etc. that it’s no wonder I go in there and see so many people in line! I also love that they’re open 24/7 because other places (such as Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts) don’t open until later on in the morning. My typical order is just a medium coffee with a toasted everything bagel and cream cheese. They’re very close to my house as well so that’s an added plus!
