We’ve finally found a great hot dog place in the ‘ham! El Capitan’s is TERRIFIC…the dogs are top quality, the pretzels are yummy, and the condiment bar very well appointed. When I went in this evening for a take out order, I was waited on by the owner himself…and the service was as top-notch as the food! We tried both the regular all-beef and the Polish…both were clean tasting, well cooked and the seasonings well-balanced. We had the beef dogs with added bacon and the house-grilled onions; (they’re both sweet and savory, and textured almost like a jam-YUM!). They were marvelous. Star of the meal, though, were the Polish, which we ordered “Seattle Style” (warm cream cheese and the aforementioned onions). Wow…satisfying in every way, this hotdog goes on the permanent list! After those, (quite a bit after….!) we had a couple of the grilled pretzels, which were large, tasty, done to a turn and offered in either sweet (cinnamon sugar & butter) or savory (butter and salt, although you can also have cheese, mustard, etc.) The condiment bar is well stocked, and the owner gets huge points for offering to-go containers for the condiments as well! Prices are consistent and impressive, considering the repast. The place is small but easy to find, and seating is offered both indoors and out (counter-type service). Street parking available. There’s also beer & cider, but that will have to wait for another trip. Considering the treat of having great hot dogs in the ‘ham, though, it probably won’t be too long at all before we’re back! Thanks, Cap!

The Stand Hot Dogs & Sausages – Menu with Prices – 16700 FM2493 #1600, Tyler

I have eaten at the Stand two, or three times. I’m not a huge hot dog fan, so I usually just go there at the request of my children, or other friends in my company. Last week, my family and I ate there. I was blown away. First of all, I think they have lowered their prices. I could be wrong, but the dogs are priced lower and then you add toppings, if you want for upcharges. My children ordered regular hot dogs. They rarely clean their plates. My seven year old ate all of his dog and asked for another. We got him one ? He said, “We eat at a lot of fancy places, but this one is my favorite.” My wife and I got the cheeseburger hot dogs. This is basically a cheeseburger in the shape of a hot dog. We added “The Stand” toppings, which were sweet, grilled onions. It sounds simple, but the savory taste of the burger/dog, against the sweet taste of the onions was delicious. I ate two of them (they are small ? and could have eaten another. Delicious. The Stand seems like a simple, non-flashy idea for a restaurant, but they have done an incredible job with hot dogs. I highly recommend this place.

Crofton’s Pretzels – Menu with Prices – 6014 Oleander Dr, Wilmington

Tried this place on its grand opening day. The owner and cashier were very friendly and welcoming. They let me stay a few minutes past their closing time so I could eat one of their hot pretzels. They make pretzels Philadelphia-style, which are thicker, doughier, and more elongated than traditional pretzels (per Serious Eats). Since I arrived close to their closing time they were out of crab cheese and spinach artichoke Parmesan pretzels. Regular plain pretzels are $2 each and specialty pretzels are $3.50 each. If you want a dip for your pretzel, it’s $0.50 each. Dips are either yellow mustard, honey mustard, spicy mustard, whole grain mustard, polish mustard, or cheese. The plain pretzels, sugar glazed pretzels, and chocolate filled pretzels were at room temperature in their display cases. All of their specialty savory pretzels are heated in their oven before serving. I tried the chocolate filled pretzel, which I thought tasted okay. I bet it would taste way better if it was warmed up. I didn’t ask them if they could warm them up so it may be worth asking. I also tried the pimento cheese pretzel, which was amazing. Since it was heated in the oven, it was served piping hot. The pretzel dough was perfect, so soft and doughy and topped with just the right amount of rock salt. The pimento cheese was delicious. The middle of the pretzel was my favorite, because there was a huge amount of melted pimento cheese. Pretzels are baked fresh daily. The leftover pretzels at the end of the day are delivered to breweries or homeless people, which the owner is still figuring out.

The Steamie Weenie – Menu with Prices – 1500 N Green Valley Pkwy #130, Henderson

Usually I grill my own hot dogs but last night on the way home, I didn’t feel like stopping at the store to buy hot dogs and buns. I had passed the sign for Steamie Weenie of several occasions and although it was out of my way, I decided to give it a try. Steamie Weenie isn’t a big restaurant and the seating isn’t all that comfortable but if you want a hot dog, it’s the place to go. One orders at the counter and they call when the food is ready. They have many different specialty hot dogs and bratwursts on the menu with a plethora of toppings or one can build one’s own. I chose the Nor’wester which comes with grilled onions, cream cheese, sriracha, green onions and jalapeno. This isn’t some short hot dog either, it extends way past the bun on both sides. The hot dog was very good and a bit messy. What stole the show were the Doggie Style Tater Tots, topped with cheese, grilled onions and Steamie sauce. Delicious. They don’t have a soda machine but they do have bottled sodas, most of them vintage that I haven’t seen for years. Alas, they didn’t have Delaware Punch so I selected Frosty’s Blue Cream Soda. My dinner came to $13.80 with tax , a bit high but there was plenty to fill me up. I’ll have to stop by again when my husband is out of town as he hates hot dogs.

Red Top Gourmet Hotdogs – Menu with Prices – 1127 Logan St, Louisville

Red Top hot dogs is so good! I visit often, because I live nearby; but, even if I didn’t I would make the trip to check this spot out. They’re slinging amazing gourmet hot dogs and wild game sausages, as well as tots, big soft pretzels, charcuterie, beer, awesome sodas, and more! And they’re using fresh ingredients for everything, which accounts for the greatness of their food. The location is awesome! They have plenty of seating, both indoor and outside. They have a few small tables out front, but they have a great seating area in the back, complete with pretty string lights and flowers. And inside they also have a full bar with seating, as well as picnic table seating in Potder’s Ping Pong Emporium, which is next door (in the same building). Plus, their building has a gorgeous mural on the side where you can take photos of yourself, or your food, if that’s something you like to do. (Like me!) Now, to the food… y’all, I don’t even like hot dogs. That’s real. But, there’s something about Red Top that is so good that I’ll eat a hot dog there! And, if I’m not in the mood for one, they have plenty of other options on the menu. But, my favorite hot dog is the Nirvana. And at $9 it’s an absolute steal, because it’s a grass fed beef hot dog on a pretzel bun, served up with roasted garlic cream cheese, jalapenos, french fried onions, & jalapeno jam. If it sounds amazing, that’s because it is! B likes the Louisville, a grass fed beef hot dog on a pretzel bun, with cheddar beer cheese, flint style Coney sauce, & organic yellow mustard. Or the Germantown, which is a wild boar sausage on a pretzel bun, with gouda beer cheese, bourbon grilled onions, apple bacon sauerkraut, and bourbon molasses. How great do both of those sound?! Red Top serves up Shoe String French Fries or Truffle Parmesan French Fries on the side; and, as I mentioned earlier in my review, they also have awesome tots! Plus, they have a large assortment of drinks, including domestic and craft beers and ciders. Plus, they have desserts! In addition to all of that awesomeness, they also offer daily/weekly specials, including amazing gourmet hot dog concoctions, as well as happy hour specials. If you’re looking for a spot for lunch or dinner, or just to hang out and have a snack or a drink, Red Top is definitely a great spot for it! I highly recommend it!

Mustard’s Last Stand – Menu with Prices – 1288 N Harbor City Blvd, Melbourne

Delicious hot dogs and incredible service!! I’ve been waiting to go to Mustard’s Last Stand for a while and it did not disappoint. They have a really big menu with a little something for everyone, including turkey and veggie dogs! Also, any dog combination can be made with a veggie dog instead of the traditional beef hot dog. Additionally, they have Sausage, Chicago Italian Beef, and Chicken options for those who may not want a hot dog! The employees were really helpful with their suggestions and very patient (because I took absolutely forever to decide and order). I ended up getting a Yankee Dog with added Sauerkraut and my friend got their Chucky’s Chicken Fries. Everything was SO good! I’m not typically a big fan of hot dogs but when I saw how many combinations they have, I knew I had to give it a try. Each dog is served on a poppy seed bun and is made to order! I loved the flavor of the dog and how well made it was! One of the best dogs I’ve ever had. The Chucky’s Chicken Fries were unbelievable and I have never had anything like them before. It’s almost a meal on its own! It’s pilled high with chicken, bacon, grilled onion, melted cheese, and spicy ranch. You have to try it if you find yourself here! Overall, this was a really great experience! This local stand is unlike anything I’ve ever had before! Nothing beats hometown favorites. I can’t wait to head back to try more dogs soon!

Philly Pretzel Factory Menu with Prices 5924 Tilghman St, Allentown

What a disappointment!! I called to order a catering tray of pretzels and pretzel dogs for my employees. I also ordered some assorted dips. I thought it would be a nice treat. Boy did I think wrong! When I called I was scolded and told I should call at least a day ahead to order a tray of pretzels. But they said they could take my order anyway. I requested a pickup time for an hour and a half later. I picked up my order and took it immediately back to my store to feed my employees. As soon as I opened the container I knew… the pretzels were at least a day old! Rock hard! I spent $45 to get scolded for ordering on short notice and receive the worst pretzels I’ve ever had! I mean, if I had called a day prior then what?! Would they have been two days old?! Never again!!! So disgusted.

Tractor Brewing Co Menu with Prices 118 Tulane Dr SE, Albuquerque

To start, great prices. You can have a long fun night here and not be shocked by your tab. The flavors are all really great too. One thing I didn’t care for: the dogs. I don’t hate dogs, I actually really appreciate business like this that are dog friendly. But when you allow dogs inside and you allow people to get drunk and not handle their dogs properly, that’s an issue. Each time I’ve been here that has been a unruly dog that I wish the staff would have said something to the owner or perhaps asked the owner to enjoy his drinks on the (spacious) outside patio with his dog.

Garcia’s Hot Dogs – Menu with Prices – 5102 E 16th St, Indianapolis

I’ll keep the review short because there is not too much to say except you need to try Garcia’s Hot Dog! He is super cool and just plain nice! He is keeping up to food safety handling standards regard ensuring the dogs are at the proper temps (he checked the brats because I wanted one but it wasn’t ready yet) and if the dog is not ready, you will have to wait for It to be done or better yet select another delicious goodie. He keeps the pork dogs separated from the beef and showed me how he has the dogs arranged in separate warming pitchers that are kept covered. You can select from a host of toppings (I never seen tomatoes being offered for a dog but it was good! He is also cognizant of your time so on the weekdays he makes sure he has items that can be grabbed for go quickly. Those bacon dogs are oh available on Saturdays and Sundays. $3.50 for most of the dogs is cheaper than other places I have been that are brick and mortar locations but I rather hit up a cart any day. Get there early for the best selection of dogs and check out his Facebook page to know when he may not be there or out of dogs.

Auntie Anne’s – Menu with Prices – 1120 Southcenter Mall, Seattle

I don’t usually eat pretzels but I like the selection of pretzels here and the dipping sauces. Some days they have $1 pretzels , that’s a freakin awesome deal

European Bakery – Menu with Prices – 5672 Santa Monica Blvd S, Jacksonville

A little off the beaten path off University Blvd. Is a tiny store front next to the Jacksonville staple Amar groceries. Talk about the quintessential example of quality over quantity. A small case displays handmade breads and pretzels . I didn’t take a pic because it’s something you have to experience yourself. I opted for 2 pretzels and a cheese bread. Set me back less than $4! I had a bite of the pretzel and it was nice and light with a little salt/buttery taste. The cheese bread was an airy soft with buttery cheese in the middle. It’s not fancy, it’s what I would imagine being offered at a street market somewhere in Europe. Leave all pretensions at the curb and seriously experience a Jacksonville hidden gem.

El Cora Birria | Estilo Tijuana – Menu with Prices – 7900 Fruitridge Rd, Sacramento

MUST TRY! Some people may overlook this place because it’s inside a gas station but give it a chance! You will still be thinking about it the next day and would want to go back for more. I had this 2 weeks ago, I’m still thinking about it and I can’t wait to go back. The menu is pretty small. You can order soft tacos, crunchy tacos, mulitas, quesadillas, or burritos only. Also, you can only choose between beef or goat for the meat. That’s why I’m giving it 4 stars. I was hoping that they would have chicken as an option as well. I’ve only tried the beef but OMG it is delicious. Especially with some grilled onions and serrano peppers. The beef is so juicy and has so much flavor. They cook it in this broth and you can buy the broth on the side and that broth is delicious as well. People usually dip the taco in the broth but I prefer just eating it like a soup. I would go there just to order the broth to eat. People are just starting to discover this place. I remember going to LA and wanting to try a spot similar to this and the line was crazy. About 1.5 hour wait. I wouldn’t be surprised if it starts getting busy with long lines. I hope not though. Also. The cashier, I’m assuming he may be the owner or the son of the owner but he is nice and friendly. He probably gets tired of seeing me and asking if I can have grilled onions and Serrano peppers each time I go. I’m gonna need my fix soon. Lol

Angry Goldfish Pub & Eatery – Menu with Prices – 2301 SW 9th St, Des Moines

After seeing so many good reviews from here, we finally had to check it out and were not at all disappointed! It definitely lives up to the hype!!! We came in for my dad’s birthday and had an amazing early dinner. Our server Maddie was fantastic and super friendly. We started off with their Angry goldfish crackers, which were actually not as spicy as I thought they were going to be, they have a nice heat but not burn your mouth off! And are super cheap! We also ordered the Beer cheese dip with pretzels and that is one of the best beer cheese dips I have had in the metro! The pretzels are super soft and buttery and I did keep the cheese dip to use on my fries because I couldn’t let it go to waste. I ordered the Boursain burger with Parmesan fries, and it was to die for!! So much pesto, melted cheese, and caramelized onions made it rich and delicious! The Parmesan fries were also delicious and perfectly cooked! (they are especially good with the beer cheese) My hubby ordered the Crispy chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce, he really enjoyed it and said it was delicious and pretty spicy! My mom ordered Fish n chips and the fish was cooked perfectly and had a great tartar sauce and coleslaw, also served with a hefty portion of Parmesan Fries. My dad ordered the Graziano’s Meatloaf and it was full of flavor, their angry ketchup was delicious with just a bit of heat! The mashed potatoes, corn and cornbread (with homemade honey butter) also great! Overall AMAZING food/service/atmosphere, will definitely be back!! * Just a note- get here early because there is VERY limited parking and it’s not a big place! (If you have a larger group you may want to consider car pooling)
