Came again for their lunch buffet and it was still as good as I remembered. The lunch buffet starts at 11am, so try to get there before 12:30pm if possible. For $10.95 you get unlimited naan, soda, and lunch buffet options. My favorites were the chicken tikka masala, goat curry, and veggie chana masala. The spiciest being the goat, then the chana masala, and finally the tikka masala with almost no spice at all (but very good flavor). The lamb was also good, but not as good as the goat- in my opinion. Tip- When you try the samosas, get some of the green sauce from the chilled section (near the salads) and dip it in that. It is the best ever, the flavors remind me of a pesto mix, but no garlic and a lot more Indian spices. What was great about this visit, compared to the last, is that we had to wait a while for the naan. Whereas this visit, our naan came out within seconds of sitting down, and then we were re-filled just as we were about to eat the last slice. Absolutely great service during the lunch rush. Lastly- don’t mind the photo where the rice is empty. Within moments of me snapping the buffet line pics, and noting to the head server that the rice was low, he brought out more. Although, I did miss the vegetable basmati rice that they had the time before. This day the only rice option was the plain basmati rice. PS- they are also now more environmentally friendly with re-usable plates and silverware. Still using styrofoam cups, but I guess that is good if you want to take your drink with you after you finish eating.

Indian Xpress 2 – Menu with Prices – 1201 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island

This review is for takeout, can’t comment on ambiance or service. I’m an Indian food junky. For a long time I lived at Curry Hill in midtown, and have tried all kinds of Indian food and often. I’m so glad this place opened on Staten Island. The food is very authentic and well prepared. Goat is a welcome ingredient that you don’t always find in Indian restaurants these days. I have had here garlic naan, Chxn Tikka Masala, Lamb Korma, and Goat Curry (Khosa Mangso). Everything was great, the goat was particularly delicious. Flavorful, rich curries and nice cuts of meat. The portions are generous, with good amount of protein. Basmati rice is included, which is nice.. many places charge extra for the rice. If you are in the area and have a hankering for authentic Indian, definitely recommend this spot.

Kabob House Menu with Prices 9140 Emerald St, Boise

Wow. Just wow. I don’t know if my wife and I were just really hungry (which we were) or the food was that freaking good (which it ABSOLUTELY was), but we finished everything. We licked the plates clean!! The naan was fantastic. Soooooooo big. I didn’t know they offered a garlic and onion naan, but next time we come, we will definitely order it. The basmati rice was some of the best we’ve ever had. The chicken tikka masala was phenomenal. We were informed that the chicken in the masala was actually the chicken from the chicken kabobs. NO WONDER IT WAS SO GOOD. When (IF) you cut the chicken up and eat it with very little sauce, the chicken stands out on its own, but the chicken and the sauce together is a 20/10. The ambiance is great. We came a little late; 9:30, so it was empty and we got the best service ever. The owner greeted, seated, and waited on us. He was great. He made us feel like we were family. He gave us the best seat in the house, explained the food to us in great detail, and he took so much care when placing the food on our table. He lined everything up perfectly and placed it in a way that made eating very comfortable. I honestly felt like I was at an uncles house or brothers house. The food, people, and prices are unbeatable. Can’t wait to come back again.

Star of India – Menu with Prices – 4025 E Chandler Blvd, Phoenix

This review is just based on their lunch buffet – This is another place I would give a 3.5 stars if I could!! but Yelp hates nuance or something, so confident that this will not damage them too much given a very solid 4 star average overall, I’ll designate it as a 3. The restaurant is good! The food is good, the service is good, it’s clean and it smells great, and I liked that the buffet – uniquely among similar buffets hereabouts – had solid porcelain plates with little sections, like a northern thali. The buffet had two rices (basmati with just like, cumin, and then pulao), several chicken dishes, spinach, a mixed veg curry, chana masala (which I haven’t seen at a lot of Indian buffets around here?), shahi paneer, and samosas, as well as two deserts (kheer and gulab jamun). Naan (plain or garlic) is brought to the table. The spice level is pretty low overall – not bland food remotely, just mild. The food overall was really good, especially the naan, which was nice and flavorful and crisp. The samosas were a bit crunchy? Like the outside dough wasn’t as softly fried as I’m used to, but the inside was still delicious, and the inside of the restaurant – which is a bit smaller than I expected from the outside – is nice. This one is a bit out of my way, but if I lived closer, I would probably make it a staple of my restaurant going, and I would not warn anyone away.

Star of India Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 301 N Shackleford Rd, Little Rock

My first try coming here we didn’t make it in time before they closed between lunch and dinner, but we tried again a few days later and were able to catch the end of the lunch buffet! I thought this was a very good Indian buffet. They had a good combination of mild and spicy stuff, or at least ways to make dishes spicier on your own. For big fans of spicy food, check out the hot sauce offered at the beginning of the buffet! I have a really high spice tolerance and that was pretty spicy even to me. I didn’t use much of it because I actually liked the flavor of everything like it was enough, and didn’t want to mess it up… the hot sauce was good though! I’m not vegetarian, but I was happy to see that they had a handful of non-meat items too. I just feel like they had a nice variety in all senses. The buffet wasn’t extensive (I think about two medium to long tables and one very small dessert table), but there was definitely a lot to choose from! I came for the tikka masala because it’s one of my favorites, but I ended up liking some of the other stuff even better. I really liked the chana masala and the tomato coconut soup, as weird as that sounds. The chana masala was one of the spicier things on the buffet, and I just really loved the overall flavor of all the spices in the sauce with the chick peas. Then the tomato soup was just incredible. I almost didn’t try it, but I’m so glad I did… I was really surprised by it. And even though there were only three desserts, I thought they were all pretty good. I especially liked both the rice pudding (another thing that surprised me) and the mango custard. The workers there were very welcoming. In fact, one of them came around and said “Welcome home”. I think it’s sweet that they do that. They were very nice but weren’t invasive to the meal either. They were very good about letting us know that the buffet would close soon if we wanted to get more before they shut it down, and did it in such a kind way that didn’t feel like they were rushing us at all. The atmosphere was cool too. It had a cozy kind of feeling. I liked that there were decorations and that they didn’t feel gimmick-y or like they were trying too hard to force a theme. It just felt genuine, like the people there. Would totally come back!!!

4120 Bombay Cafe – Menu with Prices – 4120 SW 38th Ct #106, Ocala

We visited for lunch and ordered Paneer Tikka Masala, Vegetable Biryani and Garlic Naan. The food was hot and came out fast but was only alright with regard to flavor. I’m a fan of Indian cuisine and found the dishes to lack the traditional spices and depth of flavor that I find in every other Biryani and Masala sauce I’ve had, which are many. The Dahi Chutney that accompanied the biryani was thick and tasted as though it contained mayonnaise, which is not how it should taste. Regarding the Paneer Tikka Masala, there were literally five pieces of cheese in the dish. It had a strong canned tomato paste flavor and again, lacked spices and flavor. I did not find the Paneer to be worth the price. Lastly, the naan was also not traditional as it seemed to be more of a flatbread. It had a slightly thicker crust on the edge, thin on the middle and was cooked on one side like a pizza. It was not airy as other naan tends to be. The staff were very friendly. The cafe appears to be welcoming and clean.

Spices of India Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 833 E Shady Grove Rd A, Irving

We came here after hearing that they serve food South Indian food for dinner! We walked in and were directed to their dining room – about ten tables and booths with a large mural of the Last Supper on the wall. Side note: if you’re allergic to nuts and peanuts, definitely let your waiter know! Some of the rice dishes and all of the biryanis have peanuts in them and they won’t make new rice for it. We also tried to order gobi manchurian but apparently they ran out during the day so it must be a popular dish! We ordered the beef roast and a Chana masala along with a side of Naan (comes with just one naan) and paratha (comes with two). Our waiter also suggested we get a side of rice, which I thought would be white rice. Instead he brought a fried rice that I almost started eating; but noticed a sliver of peanuts. He apologized when I addressed it and admitted he had forgotten that it had nuts but we didn’t really end up eating it. The beef roast was delicious and I would definitely recommend it! The paratha is also really good and flaky. The naan is a bit tough and the Chana masala was just okay – not enough tomato for my taste personally. I would definitely try a different vegetable next time we come! I noticed quite a few people ordering ahead of time and taking their food to go. We were one of two parties there on a Friday night. However our food only took about twenty minutes for it all to come out! Not a ton of parking, but we didn’t have any issue.

Mehfil Indian – Pakistani Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 10700 N Rodney Parham Rd Suite B6, Little Rock

While not familiar with Pakistani food, my husband & I had heard great things about Mehfil & couldn’t wait to try it. We went for a Saturday lunch buffet & loved it. At this point, I don’t know enough to accurately name & describe all that we tried, with a few exceptions. The naan bread is so good but the garlic naan–WOW! It’s delicious and next time, we’ll get that first. The foods on the buffet were all hot and there were so many choices. My favorites were the Tandoori chicken and the Tiki Masala w/ chicken; husband’s fav was the Chili chicken. Both types of rice on the buffet were tasty as were many of the other dishes. So glad we tried this restaurant and look forward to returning.

Tara’s Himalayan Cuisine – Santa Monica – Menu with Prices – 262 26th St, Santa Monica

Decided to try Taras with a friend who highly recommended it. They started us off with a complimentary papadum with a potato-like dip. I always like my complimentary items hehe. The papadum itself is like a thin, crispy flat bread. It was a bit too salty for my liking. There were still a lot leftover of this after the meal… Chicken Tikka Masala: The creamy, yogurt based sauce has a nice rich flavor. Perfect for dipping with the garlic naan, which by the way is a must with Indian curries. Chicken was a tad overcooked but I’m not too surprised since chicken in stews are often overcooked in restaurants. Midway through the meal, I started to notice how much oil the tikka masala had, making the dish a bit tiring to finish. Pro tip: pour some of the sauce over the rice. Garlic Naan: A must here if you get the curries. It’s always a nice vehicle for the sauce. The naan came out fairly crispy and warm. More garlic would make it even better. Service: It was nice they checked on us but at a point, it became a bit interruptive. Because there didn’t seem to be a designated server for our table, multiple people were checking in. Ambience: It’s nice restaurant with new decor. A fine place to grab dinner with family or friends. For the price (~$21), I was expecting a bit more quality but for being in West LA I guess it’s reasonable(?). The quantity was perfect- I was satisfied with the size of the garlic naan (although I’d probably share this between myself another person next time), chicken tikka masala and rice.

Vinny?s Greek and Indian Grill – Menu with Prices – 110 Southside Square, Huntsville

So the way I do reviews is that I go into every restaurant as it being 5 stars and it can go down but also they can earn their way back up. I was in DT HSV taking pictures one night and saw Vinny’s. I came a few weeks later with my family. We walked into the place and it seemed very high class however it was 6pm and nobody else was in there (besides the staff). The service was obviously quick. The menu was more Indian than Greek (which is fine, just pointing it out). We ordered samosas and spanakopita. The pastry on the spanakopita was undercooked and we had to send it back. The samosas were only minis which was extremely disappointing. They also are most likely frozen ready-made samosas. The “sauces” in the middle of the dishes are definitely not traditional Indian (or Indian for that matter) nor Greek to my knowledge. It was marinara sauce… The spanakopita came back, cooked decently this time. Soon after, the food came. We ordered chicken tikka masala and paneer tikka masala. The “naan” and rice were “free”(food was overpriced). The naan was really some sort of whole wheat flatbread and not actual naan. Our paneer(cheese cube, completely vegetarian) tikka masala was SUPPOSED to be vegetarian but there was a decent amount of chicken in there. The paneer was not very good and was not restaurant style. The tikka masala (sauce) was decent but tasted very typical among Indian households. The food was also way overpriced, nearly $10 for apps and $15 for entree. In summary Frozen samosas Marinara sauce Undercooked spanakopita Naan? Chicken in paneer Average to slightly below average food Overpriced Not coming back

Planet Bombay Indian Cuisine Menu with Prices Planet Bombay Indian Cuisine, 619 Edgewood Ave SE Suite 101, Atlanta

First to review! Went here last night. Have to say everything was on point. Service was very fast, but truth be told I was the only person in the place dining in. It was clean and I loved the interior. Located in a safe part of Edgewood. My server was Golub?, but just about every staff member came to check on me including the manager. Food: delicious and filling! I ordered the samosa chaat and tikka masala with naan. Somosa plate was huge and soo delicious and flavorful. Just the right amount of spice. The tikka masala had big tender chunks of chicken. My only negative thing to say is the masala sauce was a little too sweet and tomatey. I like a little more spice. The naan was probably the best I’ve ever had! I couldn’t even finish a third of my food and they brought me boxes and a bag to take home. Prices were standard..$16 plates. Except I noticed the biryani was like $18-yikes. In sum, this plate gets high ratings and my recommendation. It’s nice enough inside to take dates or family and the food is quality. Get the naan and somosa chaat when you go;)

Mission Curry House – Menu with Prices – 2434 Mission St, San Francisco

4.5 STARS Me: “Hi, table for one please.” Host/server: “For one?” Me: “Yes.” Host/server: “Follow me…” Me: “So, I can’t decide between the Korma or Tikka Masala – which one do you recommend?” Host/server: “The Tikka Masala is the most popular…” Me: “Hmmm, ok…both sound good though, should I order both?” Host/server: “Uhhhhh…” Me: “You know for me and my invisible bf!” Host/server: ( o _ O ) I used to be terrified of dining solo but with age, I’ve grown to love it – I go on my own terms and I don’t have to share. None of that fake “No no, you go ahead and take the last piece” bullsh*t when inside you saying, “Bish, don’t you dare take that last piece!” The only thing that sucks is you’re limited in how much you can order. By the way, the host/server was very, very polite and I think was more concerned that two curries would be too much for one person. Formerly Lotus SF, Mission Curry House is serving North Indian and Himalayan/Nepalese cuisine (there’s one chef for each cuisine). Very vegetarian and vegan friendly. I took the server’s rec and ordered the Lamb Tikka Masala ($14.95) with a side of Naan ($2). While waiting for my order, I received a complimentary basket of Papadum (Indian lentil cracker) with a trio of chutneys: tamarind, mint, and chili. All the chutneys had a great consistency and were bursting with flavor. I find that many Indian restaurants try to stretch out their chutneys so it can be watery and bland. Not here. After tasting the chutneys, I knew I was in for some good quality and flavorful eats! Shortly after, the Lamb Tikka Masala and Naan arrived on my table: https://bit.ly/2WSLm3X. The Lamb Tikka Masala was BOMB! The masala was aromatic, incredibly creamy, and richly spiced (not greasy or oily) – wonderfully savory with a touch of tangy sweetness. I requested it spicy and they delivered on the heat; it was a nice burn but I could still taste all the spices. The lamb tikka morsels were tender and there was a generous amount of it in the curry. The piping hot naan was the perfect accompaniment for sopping up all the tikka masala goodness. The surface was crisp with nicely charred blisters and the interior was deliciously chewy and stretchy. I don’t think I’ve had naan quite like this before; I was lovin’ the stretchy texture. Hands down, it’s one of the best Tikka Masala and Naan I’ve had in SF (after Cuisine of Nepal which makes an amazing Kukhurako Ledo, a cashew curry similar to tikka masala)! I didn’t want to let any drop of masala go to waste and was scraping my plate clean like it was a famine. As I packed up my leftovers, the server asked about dessert. Why not? I ordered the Kulfi w/ pistachios ($3.95): https://bit.ly/2Y1Njr8. It was very dense and hard to cut but it didn’t stop me from killing the entire plate of it. The kulfi had a fantastic, rich milky flavor….really good. I think they use condensed milk for the kulfi but it’s not too sweet which I appreciated. Since the texture is naturally hard, I think a popsicle version would make it easier to enjoy. I ended up giving my leftovers away, then regretted it so I came back to Mission Curry House the next day. This time with a co-worker so we could tackle more of the menu. We ordered the Mission Thali for Two ($49.95) which is a set menu, not a metal platter with a little bit of everything: * Samosa * Chicken Tikka Masala (requested dark meat) * Saag Paneer * Tandoori Chicken + Lamb Kebab * Basmati Rice * Naan * Kulfi (comes w/ Kheer but I asked to sub for the kulfi) We requested everything spicy and once again, the food was delicious and well-spiced! My cheeks turned red and my lips were on fiyah but that’s how I like it. The standout from the Thali was the Tandoori Chicken (leg quarter)…it was j

Hyderabadi Foodie Adda – Indian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 1280 28th St SE, Grand Rapids

My friend Mason A and I met up for lunch at Hyderabadi Foodie Adda to try their buffet. It’s available every day they’re open until 2:30 or 3 pm depending on the day. We got there right when they opened at 11:30 and everything on the buffet looked great. All of the dishes were labeled, which was really nice. I didn’t know what everything was but you can easily Google things with the names right there. I tried a bit of a bunch of different items, including chili chicken, kadai chicken, dal, veg biryani, masala fries, goat biryani, and mirchi ka salan. The buffet also had several different chutneys, naan, white rice, a couple dessert items, and two specialty drinks (rose milk and something else that was red and sweet). There were a few dishes that were empty and not being used so maybe they offer more dishes later in the day — I was hoping to see some fish, paneer, or lamb dishes. Everything I tried was delicious! The flavors were subtle but with a little heat. I think the heat level might be a little much for people not used to spicy food but it was pleasant for me. Definitely not super hot but if you don’t like spicy food I might inquire about heat levels on the buffet. My favorites were the chili chicken, which was breaded chicken in a chili sauce, and the kadai chicken, which was tender chunks of chicken thighs in a rich sauce. The naan was light and warm and perfect for eating with the dal. It didn’t seem like they were serving any dishes off the menu during the buffet, but I’m not sure on that. There is a cooler with soft drinks and mango lassi, rose milk, and some other drinks. Mason and I both got a mando lassi to go which was sweet and delicious with great mango flavor. There are water pitchers on each table with glasses which is convenient. I was happy that we were able to check out this new family owned business and try some delicious food that I’d never had before! I’ll definitely be back for the buffet again.
