Occupying the spot formerly held by the venerable Wan’s Mandarin House, Cherry Thai is quickly becoming a go-to option for excellent Thai (etc.) cuisine amongst Aurora residents – and, indeed, even those living further afield. Plop yourself down in a nice comfy booth and start things off with a refreshing glass of seasonal mixed juice (it often includes apple, orange, and sometimes even carrot) while you have a glance at the ample menu offerings. One of my favorite appetizers is Tod Mun Pla – plump fishcakes redolent with lime leaves, green beans, and lemongrass (among other flavorings). But maybe some Pik Gai Yang (perky grilled chicken wings) are speaking a bit more loudly to you – and who can blame them? Then again, to borrow from the Fab Four, “All you need is Larb”. No, really! Once you’ve tried Cherry Thai’s rendition of this classic Thai/Lao salad (made with your choice of beef, pork, or chicken, marinated in lime juice, and generously tossed with mint, coriander, and lashings of roasted rice powder), I’m sure it’ll promptly join your own hit parade. Oh yes – there are so many ways to begin a meal here, but even more ways to keep it gleefully going. Although Pattaya fried rice is named after the legendary Thai holiday destination, it in fact has its origins in Indonesia, where it’s called Nasi Goreng Amplop, or “enveloped fried rice”. The envelope in this case is a soft omelet which lovingly embraces the rice itself (chock full of chopped veggies). Praram Long Song (sometimes referred to as “Bathing Rama”) uses a luxurious peanut/coconut sauce to drench the protein of your choosing. But I’ll let you in on a little secret. Cherry Thai in fact also has a few dishes spotlighting Thailand’s next-door neighbor, Myanmar! One that I’ve especially enjoyed is Nan Gyi Thoke (voluptuously chewy noodles with curried chicken, cabbage, and yellow bean powder). But as always, your mileage may vary. One thing that won’t change, however, is the tastiness of the eatery’s desserts, like Khanom Maw Kaeng (dense eggy custard) or the ever-popular Khao Niew Mamuang (sliced mango and sweet sticky rice).

Jasmine Thai Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 2017 Wade Hampton Blvd, Greenville

My wife and I tried Jasmine Thai for the first time yesterday. Although it is close to our home, it’s not on a part of Wade Hampton that we are on frequently so we haven’t gone until now. Also and I hate to admit, the times we have driven by it just didn’t look that appealing in that small strip mall. Anyway we wanted to try something new and we are glad we did. I have to say this is by far the best Thai Cuisine we’ve had in Greenville since moving here in 2013. My wife started with the Tom Yum Kai thai spicy soup with exotic thai herbs with mushroom, lime juice, lemongrass, galangal, cilantro and added shrimp. We shared several items including Pineapple Fried Rice, stir fried jasmine rice with egg, pineapple chunks, curry powder, raisins, scallions, cashew nuts and onions, The Pad See, stir fried wide rice noodle, egg, broccoli, carrots and thai sweet soy sauce, added shrimp and Mix Vegetables with broccoli, cabbages, carrots, onions, mushroom, soy bean paste.Everything was fresh and delicious. The prices are very resonable and the service was attentive, friendly and just perfect! Jasmine Thai is now our Go to Thai place of choice!

Tana Thai Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1890 Eastchester Rd, The Bronx

Classic Pad Thai is supposed to be a blend of the tang of tamarind extract, the sweetness of palm sugar, the saltiness of fish sauce, the spice of chili peppers, the al dente mouth-feel of rice noodles, the freshness of diced green onion and chopped cilantro, the familiar coziness of scrambled egg, the crunch of bean sprouts and purple cabbage and shredded carrots, and the nutty richness of crushed peanuts, all tossed in a bit of vegetable oil in a super hot wok. Add your favorite protein and a sprinkle of lime juice, and voila, this creates a richly balanced nuance of many interactive flavors and aromatic smells. Tana Thai’s was hardly any of these things. The noodles were cold and overcooked. The flavor was bland: there was no spice, no delightful tamarind tanginess, and no detectable sweetness of palm sugar, nor the saltiness of fish sauce. The egg had the rubbery texture of either microwave heating or re-heating. Not a single piece of green onion was to be found. The sprouts were soggy. The chicken was rubbery, lacking any brothy flavor, and composed of cheap all-dark meat. I had to heat up a homemade cocktail of peanut powder, soy sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, Sriracha, and crushed peanuts in order to make the meal passable. Had I not had those ingredients on hand to improve the food, I would have thrown the noodles out. Additionally, the portion I was given for $14 was absurdly small. Any other Thai placed I’ve gone to typically gives twice as much food for that price. The only saving grace from Tana Thai are the curry puffs. They have a delightful pastry like crust and a totally comfort food-like mouthfeel from the curried potatoes and onions. I have had their Panang Curry in the past, and it was decent, although not quite spectacularly fragrant either. Skip the Pad Thai. Get the Curries and Curry Puffs. Happy Eating!

Sweet Basil – Menu with Prices – 143 Marshall St, Syracuse

When Sweet Basil first opened on Marshall Street I got Pad Thai and Fried Rice here quite often, even though I felt it was way overpriced compared to other Thai restaurants in Syracuse. But it was good and it was convenient, since I work on campus. But my schedule changed and I hadn’t been there for a while. The first thing I noticed was a name change to Taste of Asia. I wasn’t sure if this was a dumbing down of the name or an actual change in ownership/management. Also when I walked in it was pretty empty, but had never been the case before. I ordered Chicken Pad Thai and Beef Fried Rice and got it promptly (probably because the kitchen wasn’t very busy). When I got it home it seemed like a skimpy amount for the price (especially compared to the Erawan, which is my go-to place recently). The Pad Thai was okay, nothing special, and the Fried Rice just seemed nonsubstantial. Hard to explain, but it was just rice and the beef — it seemed like there were no veggies or scrambled egg or other things I expect in a good Fried Rice.So all in all, it was okay, but I won’t go back there. It’s worth the drive out to Erie Boulevard to the Erawan or to Liverpool and the AppeThaising for a better experience.

@ Home Thai Fusion bistro – Menu with Prices – 4275 Concours St Suite 130, Ontario

So usually everywhere I have had Thai food, I have never been disappointed, so we were really hungry and thought…hey this one is close, why not! I didn’t even bother reading reviews before I went. I first ordered Tom yom soup, tried it. Soups usually come with the fire thing under them, this one didn’t, so we already got iffy about it. Then we saw full cut red onions in there, which I have never seen, and then large tomatoes. We gave it the benefit of doubt and said maybe there style is different. We tried the soup. Was not good, but edible. Then we decided to order appetizer and food. So we ordered lime chicken (comes in spring role wrap, triangle shape), veggie fried rice and pad see yew. The lime chicken came, and omg it was so bad, we took a bite and left the rest. Then at same time our food came. Our fried rice looked so dull and kind of clear, same with the noodles. The foods color was so off that we did not even want to try it. I called our waitress over, felt guilty but we weren’t going to keep giving the benefit of doubt in every single item. Told The waitress we had the soup, it was okay, the lime chicken was horrible, and we don’t even want to try the rice and noodles. We will pay for what we ate. But don’t want the rest. Then she called the manager over, who was nice also. And we paid our bill and went to another restaurant. Super unsatisfied! The people were nice, but definitely won’t be going there again.

Thai Select Menu with Prices 1713 Wilson Blvd, Arlington

I ate lunch at Thai Select for the first time on Tuesday, and unexpectedly enjoyed it so much that I came back on Friday. And finally — bubble tea in the Rosslyn area! The menu has all the standards you’d find in your typical Thai joint in America, but the ingredients are high quality and fresh, and the dishes well executed. The lunch box specials, available until 3pm on weekdays, include a soup of the day that is chock full of fresh vegetables and a choice of a couple fried veggie dumplings or a spring roll. And unlike previous comments, something must have changed because it’s a lot of food; lunch is more like dinner portions – for only $9.99 to $11.99 depending on the protein(s) selected. So far, I’ve had: – Green curry with duck (there was a whole duck breast sliced in there) – Basil eggplant with seafood (east coast mussels and not the green-lipped ones from New Zealand) – Fried calamari (a light dusting of starch before perfectly fried) – Lavender milk tea with lychee popping bubbles (OMG. And not too sweet!) The main dishes were very filling with lots of perfectly cooked veggies. I admittedly licked up every drop of their sauces. They also have fried or grilled sliced marinated chicken lunch combos with sticky rice, as well as soft shell crab (!). And various other fruit popping bubbles, aloe, and Thai jellies for the bubble tea in addition to the typical tapioca bubbles. Despite being a casual eatery, the restaurant interior is quite nice with relaxing piano jazz playing. Very glad to have this place nearby my workplace. I’ll be back…often.

Grandma Wan Thai Food Truck – Menu with Prices – 2711 Manatee Ave E, Bradenton

Grandma Wan found a great little spot. We ordered the Wednesday special Pad Thai, Thai Basil Stir-Fry w/ rice and two orders of Thai chicken skewers. Everything was delicious. My wife is Thai and we had something we’ve never had before, the fried rice patties. They were really good! We drizzled the homemade pepper sauce over it (fresh peppers and fish sauce with something else maybe) was very tasty if you’re not afraid of a little heat. We finished up with the fried banana with honey and sesame seeds over ice cream. Perfect to cool off the palate. If you enjoy Thai food or are looking for something new you should try the food here!

Juii C Juice – Menu with Prices – 30-25 Stratton St, Flushing

Nice little gem tucked away in this shopping center. Pretty standard juice bar with great, competitive pricing in comparison to the bigger named juice companies. Menu is extensive and has all the fruits and veggies you can ask for. They also have protein powder, immunity boosters and other things you can add to your juice or smoothie to help get some extra nutrients in. The people working their are also very nice and can answer all your questions about some of the stuff on their menu that you might not recognize. I go through this shopping center weekly but never realized they had this nice juice bar. I’ll be coming here a lot more frequently.

Thai Kitchen Temecula – Menu with Prices – 27520 Ynez Rd STE C1, Temecula

BEST THAI RESTAURANT EVER. NOT GOING ANYWHERE ELSE FOR THAI FOOD OTHER THAN THIS PLACE! Food was excellent and service was superb! We had the Thai Iced Tea, Crab Fried Rice, Tofu Yellow Curry, Thai Royal Noodles, Tom Kha, Chicken Teriyaki and Mango Sticky Rice! Everything was delicious and Thai Iced Tea was buy one get one free! You can ask them to make your thai iced tea less sweet if you want to btw. My favorite would be the Tom Kha, it’s the best I’ve had. The perfect balance between, sweet, sour, spicy, salty and creamy. My next favorite would be the crab fried rice. No words for it, it’s that good. The yellow curry is absolutely perfect with rice, whether it’s white or brown. Lastly, the Mango Sticky rice was the perfect way to end dinner if you want something not too sweet. I may be saying perfect too much throughout this review but it is what it is and you won’t regret dining/eating here. 100% will recommend to anyone even if you haven’t had thai food.

The Similans Thai Eatery – Menu with Prices – 13005 Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy, Fairfax

I had my first taste of Thai food 15 years ago: Pad See Ew with Beef at a Thai chain (which will remain unnamed), and my taste buds did somersaults at the first bite. But after 15 years of trying Thai here and trying it there, it began to taste about the same. Then came Similans. The best Thai I’ve had in years! On a recent snowy day, we ordered delivery – Pad See Ew with beef (can you tell this is my standard?), Hawaiian Fried Rice, Crispy Rolls, and Party Wings. Within an hour, the food was at our door and everything tasted fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. The Pad See Ew is some of the best I’ve had in years. Every ingredient – rice noodles, Chinese broccoli, egg, and beef strips – is cooked perfectly on its own and together, the dish comes together beautifully. As many times as I’ve had this dish, it’d been a long time since I’d enjoyed like that. A must! The Hawaiian Fried Rice was a really nice surprise. The curry was light, not at all overpowering, which was important for a rice dish that already has a lot going on, packed with chicken, shrimp, pineapples, cashews, and veggies. A wonderful, comfort dish. The crispy rolls were as good as any you’d find elsewhere, but the wings were pretty special – crispy skin, tender meat, slathered in a sticky sweet and spicy sauce that begs you to lick your fingers. I may have just found my new Thai obsession.

Loyal Q and Brew Menu with Prices 3655 Old Milton Pkwy, Alpharetta

I am posting this review in regards to what I received when I ordered from GrubHub today. Now I have eaten at LoyalQ AND I had just eaten lunch there less than a week before placing my GrubHub order – so I know what I SHOULD have received instead of what I actually DID receive. #1. It was clearly stated that I ordered the SuperFoods Bowl: SUPERFOODS BOWL ALL THE GOOD STUFF IN ONE BOWL! KALE AND SPINACH ARE MIXED WITH QUINOA, CHERRY TOMATOES, CHOPPED WALNUTS, FRESH BLUEBERRIES, DRIED CRANBERRIES, GARBANZO BEANS, SHREDDED CARROTS AND SLICED AVOCADOS. ALL TOSSED IN A MAPLE VINAIGRETTE. $12.95 #2. I did NOT receive the Superfoods Bowl. What I Actuall received was a poor rendition of the Q chopped salad that someone threw a few sprinkles of quinoa in: THE Q CHOPPED SALAD CHOPPED ROMAINE TOSSED WITH GRILLED CORN, GREEN ONION, BLACK BEANS, CHOPPED EGG, CHERRY TOMATOES & TOSSED IN CILANTRO-LIME DRESSING $9.95 Except I didn’t EVEN receive the chopped salad. It had no egg and no dressing. It wasn’t even a $9.95 salad. I paid $10 for a bowl of romaine with a few things thrown in. So basically I feel I was ripped off because there would be no accountability since it was a GrubHub order, so let’s see how much we can cheese out and hope the unsuspecting fool that placed the order doesn’t notice. Very disappointed and not sure I will patronize either LoyalQ or GrubHub again in light of the scam that seems to have happened here.

Changs Thai Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 3620 N Freeway Blvd #310, Sacramento

So this has been our go to for Thai food in Natomas since we first tried it when they opened. We been here a few times already. So far we had Drunken Noodle, seafood salad, spicy seafood, Thai friend rice and basil fried rice, and maybe some others I can’t remember. We order everything Thai Hot. They were all delicious, spicy, and full of Thai flavor! Lots of protein and portion size was great! But the best part??? How authentic and flavorful everything was! That’s why I love Thai food, lots of delicious flavor! I can’t have my Thai food watered down! Now, we tried all the Thai spots in Natomas, and each spot has something different that we liked. Most weren’t perfect, but close enough. I used to have a diff spot for drunken noodle, basil chicken, basil fried rice, boat noodle soup, etc. Now that I found Chang’s, I haven’t been back to any of them except one for my noodle soups! But I’m hoping Chang’s start offering Boat Noodle Soup or Tom Yum noodle soup soon! I’m super picky about my Thai food because I’ve had the best of the best in SoCal, Bay Area, and Thai Temples. I like my Thai food authentic and not watered down. Im most picky about my Pad Thai, so I haven’t tried Chang’s pad Thai, yet, in fear of disappointment. But I will. I plan on trying a lot of other stuff, and I’m sure I won’t be disappointed bc so far everything has been perfect! We haven’t actually ate at the restaurant, but they have always been super nice and accommodating over the phone. Very friendly when we pick up as well. We had a lot of spots in Natomas get our orders wrong, but Chang’s haven’t gotten any of our orders wrong, yet… hoping they continue this streak! Tonight, we are having Drunken Noodle and Basil Fried Rice again!!! I’m telling you guys, they have the best!!! :))))

BBQ Chicken – Menu with Prices – 56 Whitney Ave, New Haven

New Haven is definitely stepping up it’s Korean fried chicken game with BBQ Chicken! I’ve previously heard about it as a popular Korean chain and am pretty thrilled at its location choice. +CHEESELING (4.5/5): Korean fried chicken is definitely a breed on its own (compared to American fried chicken). While I can’t speak for authenticity, I definitely enjoyed this take. It’s pretty crispy and there isn’t a thick batter. The cheeseling denotes the cheesy powder on the chicken, which reminds me of Kraft mac & cheese powder (not a bad thing!). It can be a bit much if this is the only thing you’re eating though. (This only comes in boneless by the way!) +KIMCHI FRIED RICE (5/5): This was a large portion, and was pretty tasty! I appreciated how the kimchi still had a crunchiness. The egg yoke was oozy and perfect on top of the not-too-spicy and spicy-enough fried rice. -SOY GARLIC (3/5): This was okay. It wasn’t memorable and to be honest, I was a little disappointed. It wasn’t really well coated and the sauce was a little too thick a texture for me (maybe this is normal and I’m just not used to it). I have to admit having it was a good break from the cheeseling though. While the food was good, the service isn’t quite on par. I’m used to eating pickled radish with my Korean fried chicken (love that acidity), but that’s not automatic here so be sure to ask if you’re hoping for that. It’s also just hard to get attention of the staff, whether it is to get water or the check. We also got one dish way ahead of the other, while our fried chicken sat on the counter for way too long (and wasn’t as hot when we got it). Perhaps they just need more staff. Overall, the food was quite tasty and I would return for cheeseling, which I haven’t had anywhere else before. I would also recommend coming in when you’re not in a rush!
