What a great addition to the Bellingham craft brewery scene. Not being from Bellingham, the Gruff tap room was a little more challenging to locate…thank goodness they have signs up along Railroad Ave and Maple St directing you to the front door. The tap room is a nice open space with long tables and benches and plenty of natural light. The patio is quite large with quite a few picnic tables and a few fire pits…would imagine it could easily seat 100. And l like that they had board games available. I sampled two of their IPAs: Sim Mo and EC and both were quite good. The bartender was quite pleasant and we liked the feel/atmosphere of the space/room. It was a positive beer experience and happy to recommend Gruff…well worth the effort to locate it.

Rook & Rogue Board Game Pub Menu with Prices 206 W Magnolia St, Bellingham

This is a very unique restaurant/pub in Bellingham. The owner is from Orlando, who thought Bellingham is “the place” to have a Boardgame pub and started it. They have 1300 board games on site. Many of them are free to play, some are $5, and some serious big games are $10 to play. If you are serious game player, you may want to pay $50/year membership to play $5 games, and $100/year membership to play $10 games. Membership comes with a free on entree meal on your birthday and free dessert. They have tables with a game board built in (I heard they paid around $2500 for the table). You can keep playing on the table till the food is ready and when food comes, they’ll install the table top on the table to eat, then after eating, they’ll remove the table top for you to continue playing the game. Some games like “Twilight Imperium” will take 13-17 hours to finish, therefore you may want to reserve the table for 2 days to complete the game. “Dark Tower” electronic board game came out in 1981 was on the $10 shelf. This game is discontinued and not made anymore, but you can still play at this place ? There is one boardgame pub in Seattle, but they say each boardgame pubs has its own characteristics and none of them are the same. Even if you are not into a board game, would be fun to try out once in your life ? ã??ã?¼ã??ã?²ã?¼ã? ã??ã?ã?ã?¼ã?«ã??ã?¬ã?¤ã?²ã?¼ã? ã??å?é???ã???ã?ã??ã?é£?äº?ã??ã?ã?ã?æ???ã?å?§ã????ã?ã??ã?¬ã?¹ã??ã?©ã?³? 1300?é¡?ã???ã?²ã?¼ã? ã?ã?ã??ã?ã??ã?å¤???ç?¡æ????ã?å?ºã?ã??ã??ã?ã?????ã?ã?·ã?ªã?¢ã?¹?ã?²ã?¼ã? ?ã?å??ã??ã????$ï¼?ã??ã?«ã?$10ã??ã?«?ã???ã??ã?ã???ã?ã?ã??é??50ã??ã?«ã??ã??100ã??ã?«??ä¼??ã??æ????ã?5ã??ã?«ã?10ã??ã?«å??ã??æ?¾é¡??ã?ã?æ??ã??ã?? ?ä¼????ã?ã?èª?ç??æ?¥?ç?¡æ???ã?é£?äº?ã??ã?ã?ã??ã?¶ã?¼ã??ã?ç?¡æ?????ç?¹å?¸ã?ã?ã??ã??ã??ã?ã?? åº???ã?ã??ã?¼ã??ã?²ã?¼ã? ç?¨ã??ã?¤ã??ã?³ã?°ã??ã?¼ã??ã?«ã?ã?ã??ã?ã?é£?äº?ã??ã????ã??ã?¼ã??ã?²ã?¼ã? ã???ã??ã?ã?é£?äº?ã??ã?ã??ã?ä¸??ã??ã?¼ã??ã?«?ã??ä¹?ã??ã?é£?äº?ã?ã?é£??çµ?ã??ã?ã??ã?ã??ã?¼ã??ã?«?ã??å?ã??æ????ã?ã?²ã?¼ã? ã??ç¶?ã?ã??ã??ã????ã?ã??ã??ã??ã?¼ã??ã?²ã?¼ã? ã??ã?¤ã??ã?³ã?°ã??ã?¼ã??ã?«?ã?2500ã??ã?«??ã?ã????ã?ã?? ã???å»?ç?¤????ã?ã??ã??ã?¼ã??ã?²ã?¼ã? “Dark Tower” ã??ã?æ??ä½??ã??çµ?äº?ã?ã????13æ??é???ã?ã?ã???è¨?ã?ã???ã?ã?? “Twilight Imperium” ?ã?ã?ã?²ã?¼ã? ã??ã?ã???ã?ã?? ã?·ã?¢ã??ã?«?ã??1?ã??ã?¼ã??ã?²ã?¼ã? ã??ã??ã?ã?ã???ã??ã?ã?ã??ã??ã?ã???ã??ã???å??æ?§ã?ã???é?ã????ã?ã?? ä¸??ã?ä½?é¨?ã??å?¼??ã?é£?äº?ã??ã???ã?ã?ã?¬ã?¹ã??ã?©ã?³?ã?ã??

Blue Bridge Games – Menu with Prices – 954 Fulton St E, Grand Rapids

I stopped in to Blue Bridge Games last week for the first time to get an idea what games they had and find out a little more about their memberships, rentals, and gaming space. The Blue Bridge folks were super nice! They gave me a tour of the entire store and gaming space and patiently explained how the memberships, rentals, special orders and special events work. We live in the neighborhood and like to play board games, so I’m excited to have a resource nearby where we can find out about new games that will be fun for our family, and possibly try some out before investing in them. They had both the games I was most interested in, and gave me great information about both and suggested several additional games we might want to try. The gaming space looked cozy like a bookstore, seemed like a good option for snow days and evenings when we want to get out of the house and have some fun, a good alternative to the movies. Would be a great place to get a couple tables of friends together for games. I’m pulling for this new business in the East Fulton neighborhood, and recommend board game enthusiasts and families who are looking for “off-screen” activities check it out!

IBU Brewery – Menu with Prices – 3703 Brewerton Rd, Syracuse

IBU is tucked away, if it weren’t for the sign, you’d probably miss it. Look for the Green building. This place has indoor cornhole, jumbo janga and tons of board games for you to play while you enjoy a beer. Their beer selection was limited, however, with several beers either fermenting or on slated to be on tap in the future. The bartender was very friendly, offering $2 4oz beers, $3 8oz, and $6 16oz. We liked the Cram Session pale ale a lot. They offered chips for a dollar, but free pretzels or popcorn is an easy welcomed improvement. Plan to come back in the future when there’s more beers on tap. Hopefully more IPAs!

Stein Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 2516 49th St #5, Boulder

Stopped in for a quick brew while i was in Boulder. chose this spot because i have been to all the others in the area a few times and wanted to give them a shot. Its in a small garage like building next to an auto shop not far from the boulder beer co. They are a pretty small operation, a few stools at the bar, some small tables and some seating outside. They had a few IPAs and Pales as well as a wheat and imperial stout that they seem to be known for. I had the Red IPA, or DBL red and it definitely leaned more towards a Belgium profile than west coast or american. tried the pale and the RYE IPA and neither really stood out as great examples of the respective styles. The bartender was extremely friendly and they played the usual mix of hippie Jam rock that makes me happy. They also have a projector for sports or ect, as well as two dart boards and an assortment of board games to keep you occupied. On Mondays they have a pitcher special for $10, and Tuesdays may be discount growler day. All in all i will give them another shot and try their stout, but on first taste it will not be part of my normal rotation in Boulder.

Winston’s Pub & Patio – Menu with Prices – 531 Metairie Rd, Metairie

Winston’s Pub & Patio is an inviting and cozy pub. The inside is set up like your favorite Uncle’s living room. There are tables and a nice bar of course, but the best part of the inside are the comfortable couches. You can sit and relax and chat like you’re in a living room. It’s a great space. They even have board games and a few poker machines if your into that. Another awesome part of this pub is the patio. It’s spacious and comfortable. They have a big TV outside for sports games when the weather is good. Winston’s also has crawfish boils out in the patio area during crawfish season. It’s a set price and you get a fixed amount of crawfish and all the sides. It’s a good deal. They have seasonal drink specials and a decent selection of beer on tap. They also serve food, but it’s nothing fancy just bar food. Although I’ll admit I am a fan of the cheese fries. They use seasoned waffle fries and drown them with melted cheddar. The prices are decent and the bar tenders are always friendly. Check it out one day. I think you will like it too.

Grinning Goblin Gaming Tavern – Menu with Prices – 1625 S Rock Rd #135, Wichita

This is the first video game bar I’ve ever been to, and let me tell ya, GGGT sets the bar high! While the decor itself is pretty simple, there is a lot of redecorating potential if they ever wanted to add some more “oomph” to the bar. Big open spaces, lots of seating, and the cleanest darn bathroom I’ve ever laid eyes on. You can tell a lot of care and love went into this place, and it’s much appreciated. The booths on the bar side have every gaming system you could imagine (the seats are also super comfy)- PS4, Wii U, just waiting on the Switch. Nice flatscreen TVs with great quality. Good selection of classic and niche games- Mario Kart, LOZ- I think I saw Conker’s Bad Fur Day on the list too, lol. And if video games aren’t your jam, they’ve got a really large selection of board games and tabletops. Now, onto the booze! For a place this size, the alcohol selection is pretty good. They have some fun cocktails, (pictured) and the sweetest darn bartender ever! I forget her name, but she’s the bees knees, and one of the owners of GGGT. Can’t wait until I’m back in town!

Commonwealth Joe Coffee Roasters Menu with Prices 520 12th Street South Suite 150 Suite 150, Arlington

…..and they know their stuff. They have nitro, drip coffee. You can get hot or cold brew coffee and they have some cute non-coffee based drinks to try. Some based in kombucha, and it fits appropriately in this cute coffee shop. You can get a growler of cold brew if you are so inclined. I feel kindred while rolling my eyes at the dude ahead of me trying to fashion a caramel macchiato-tini thing. Dude, it’s coffee and you have a choice of leaving room for milk in the cup or not. Keep it moving, dear.. I have spied board games in a back room that is curtained off and I imagine they have some secret-handshake-members board game Sunday where they drink only nitro cold brew in pint glasses. This place is a quirky, solid place for really good coffee and nice folks.

Full Circle Olympic – Menu with Prices – 1426 N Van Ness Ave, Fresno

So glad to have Full Circle within walking distance in the Tower. Even though they’ve painted and brightened up the space, you can still see the old Club Fred/ Audie’s Olympic. And I do appreciate they’re calling this spot Full Circle Olympic. Some might be sad the old tub behind the bar is gone, I’m not that sentimental. I do love the new wood bar, wish I would have gotten a photo of it. They have those new electronic menu boards which I don’t appreciate because they have no character; I much prefer handwritten beer board. Fortunately, Full Circle’s beers are so good, I can get over it. As usual, we stick with IPAs – the Juicy NE IPA is good as always. We also tried the Peach Bomb which was delicious- at 9.5% , it’s boozy and not heavy in fruit flavor but was really fresh! I could’ve been drinking it in an orchard. I’ve heard some friends complain that they only serve Full Circle beers, to which I say, duh! The menu is huge with a big selection of different styles of beer, really don’t think anyone can come in here and not find something to like. And since they brew a few miles away, everything is really fresh. A couple last notes: in addition to the large bar, there are a good number of tables in the middle of the room but still a good sized area for dancing, yay. I kept wishing for a cozier feel; maybe because there weren’t too many people, the large room feels a little cavernous and stark. Hopefully, as the space gets more lived in, it’ll get a cozier vibe. I kept wishing they’d put a couch or two by the window that’s always been a staple in this space haha

The ScapeGoat – Menu with Prices – 100 Collins Ave CU4, Miami Beach

Your friendly neighborhood bar. Dimly lit, decorated with dark woods and paint, a couple couches and a few high top tables. This is where locals gather to catch up over adult beverages and pass some time with the board games tucked away somewhere in the dark. At the bar, a busy- yet friendly- bartender greets me and I place an order for our friend group. One of the specialty cocktails is way too sweet and busy-yet friendly- bartender happily remakes it after a taste test. Music can be a bit overbearing sometimes and if that’s the only con to a bar like this in South Beach, you’re doing pretty dang good…

Scrumpy’s Hard Cider Bar and Pub, Home of Summit Hard Cider – Menu with Prices – 215 N College Ave, Fort Collins

Awesome hard cider bar! My favorite was the tart cherry, according to the bartender it was their very first side or they made, I want to say they had somewhere between 15 and 20 on tap. Everyone else with this ordered Bloody Marys and said they were fantastic. Small booths line the south side of the space and old church pews line the north side of the space with the bar in the middle an elevated sitting area with a fireplace is in the northwest corner there’s some seating in a patio area in front. A unique idea they have are numerous board games. The only thing that I found a little odd and it may have been because we were there in the early afternoon, all ordering and paying had to be done at the bar there are no barmaids, waitresses or Waiters.

Cafe Oasis Coffeehouse – Menu with Prices – West, 25294 W Interstate 10 Frontage Rd, San Antonio

My best friend and I stopped by during Cafe Oasis’ grand opening. We enjoyed cappuccinos and savarin cake. All the pastries looked so good and it was very hard for us to choose one, but I don’t regret picking the savarin cake! It was SO good! They also have sandwiches and other deli items. The environment is very chill and would be a place that I would feel comfortable enough to hang out solo and do some laptop work. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a chess board on one of the tables, along with other games. I can totally see myself here enjoying a game of chess over coffee and dessert. Additionally, the space is good for groups and the cafe also offers space for rent that can seat ~100 (more or less). I also noticed a board with pictures of children from an orphanage. I asked the owner about it and he explained how proceeds help towards an orphanage. His goal is to later create additional cafes and have each cafe sponsor other orphanages too. They are “seeking to restore identity, love, acceptance, dignity, and honor in the lives of orphan children.” Awesome goal! Bottom line the coffee and food here is great and you’re helping to make an impact in children’s lives with your purchases. How cool is that!?

Nomadic Beerworks Menu with Prices 3804 Woodbury Dr Suite A, Austin

Came here to hang out with a large group on a Saturday afternoon, they have a sizable space with plenty of tables, space to stand, and games to play while you’re there. There was a lively bunch of people throughout our time there, but it never got too crowded. Their beer selection was fairly limited, but it’s understandable given they’re quite new to the area. The bartender was super helpful and let my friend and I sample a few of them. Being indecisive I still chose to have a flight after. My personal favorite beer I tried was the dry hopped wheat, but the hazy IPA and the raspberry milkshake IPA also stood out! Their menu was quite IPA heavy, so hopefully they’ll continue to branch out, but it does look like they rotate their menu quite often. There’s also a fantastic Korean food truck out back that I highly recommend checking out while you’re here. Overall, I think the combination of good space to hang out, tasty beer, and delicious food is well worth checking out.
