Went to Super Mario’s for lunch the other day and ordered a veggie Wonder Burrito. I was the only one in the store and waited about 10 minutes for my food. I heard the bell ring, looked toward the kitchen and saw my burrito waiting in the window between the kitchen and the register. I approached the counter and waited for the person manning the register to pass me the burrito, but no one was there. The cook had seen that there was no one at the front, and instead of bringing me my burrito disappeared into the back. 5 minutes later (after much internal debate about whether or not I should jump the counter) the man who took my order reappeared and handed me my burrito. After telling my husband about this incident, he informed me that the same situation happened to him when he’d gone there previously. This neglect may have been forgivable if the burrito was good, but that may have been the most disappointing part. I expected to have a nice mix of veggies, cheese, beans, rice, and avocado, however the the first 4 inches of this monstrosity contained nothing but bland stir-fried veggies that tasted like Chinese leftovers from the mall. Upon discovering the rice, I was disappointed to see that there were only 3 bites. Abysmal experience. That being said, the food truck is consistent and delicious. If you want Salvadorian food, head over there.

Tacos El Pollo – Menu with Prices – 3696 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena

I came here on a late night with my boyfriend since he wanted a burrito. He ordered a Carne Asada burrito with rice, beans and avocado and a soda, which was a little over $5.00. When his number was called, they gave him a side of avocado, a side of rice and a side of beans. When I saw his bag, I went to the window and told the guy taking orders (in Spanish) that he had ordered an Asada burrito with rice, beans and avocado. He tried to argue with me that my boyfriend had only said rice, beans and avocado. The guy said that it will be extra for the burrito so I told him it was ok, so he charged plus $3 and some change. When we got the burrito and then got in the car, I told my boyfriend to grab a bite off the burrito because I had a feeling that they had NOT added the meat. And there it was… blend burrito with rice, beans and avocado and NO MEAT. So we basically paid almost $10 for a simple rice and beans burrito. Good location, bad customer service.

Moocho Burrito – Menu with Prices – 200 W Erwin St, Tyler

I was close by at lunch time and thought I’d give it try. I had the vegetable burrito with a side of rice and beans. The menu had a variety of burritos, tacos, tortas, enchiladas, quesadillas, etc. My order was came out within a few minutes. My burrito was a mix of beans, rice, cheese, spinach, onions, tomatoes, and avocado. It was grilled like a panini sandwich. It was very fresh and tasty! I enjoyed the sides of rice and refried beans. The taste reminded me of a really good street taco truck, fresh ingredients made fresh. They served breakfast and lunch. Nice atmosphere, very friendly, I would go back again if I was in the area.

Mi Carnal Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 2471 US Highway 1 South, St. Augustine

At first glance it doesn’t look like a lot but want you walking and you notice the single refrigerator in single counter and tables you know you’re in a authentic restaurant and definitely not a chain you can tell it’s owned by a family because there is one man behind the counter and two females in the back possibly a wife and a friend everyone that comes in seems to know them because they greeted they friendly and wife comes from back I had the mixed burrito so it contained both meats of steak and chicken it was great it was full of flavor and they come out with three different salsas that are different heat ranges so you get a choice and the food is a mixture of Salvadoran and Mexican so it’s a nice surprise when tasting the meat and beans and rice a very even balance and my mother had the tamale with rice and beans it was traditional made from El Salvador so the tamale contained olives and small bits of potato but my mom wasn’t displeased even with her being accustomed to traditional Mexican food so all and all it was a great experience and they offer beer if you are looking for that as well 6 to be exact . Hope you enjoy it

Bell Street Burritos Menu with Prices 1816 Peachtree St NW, Atlanta

Well, I’m done giving Bell Street the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the lack of meat in their burritos. The lack of substance rolled up in that foil is borderline criminal considering the price. Today’s lunch will likely be my last here. I’m so tired of handing over my twelve bucks plus for a tea, a handful of terrible chips and a grilled (extra charge) burrito full of beans and rice. I mean it’s literally 90% pintos and white rice with a sprinkle of cheese and a dab of salsa followed by a search for a bite containing a trace of meat. If I wanted beans and rice, rice and beans, Dave Ramsey style, I’d make my own at home for a fraction of the price. If you decide to pay to add extras (sour cream, cheese dip, etc.) just know it’s often difficult to determine if they even put them in the burrito. On more than one occasion, I’ve ripped open my burrito for a manager to aid me in finding the meat. The manager remade the burrito, and told me to ask for him to make my burrito when I come in. I tried this a few times and it actually worked, but should I really have to ask for my food to be prepared by the manager to get decent value? Perhaps this is merely a quality control issue in the kitchen, or maybe it’s just a standard practice by the owners to maximize profits by filling the burritos with the cheap beans and rice. Speaking of getting what I’m paying for, the posted menu price hasn’t always matched the price on the register. When I questioned the cashier about this on a previous visit, he said they just hadn’t updated the menu to reflect the current prices yet. He couldn’t honor the posted menu price. Are you kidding me? I will say I’ve had their bowls with sufficient meat for the price, so I don’t know if the lack of meat is just an issue with the burritos because you can’t see what you’re not getting until it’s too late….especially if you order takeout or delivery! Goodbye Bell Street Burritos!

Cuñados taqueria – Menu with Prices – 1055 State Hwy 99 N, Eugene

I don’t eat gristle. If I am paying for meat, I don’t want the chewy hard gristle. I stopped by this cart after a round of mini golf. Bought a carne asada burrito for 5 bucks. I was really looking forward to it. The burrito was cold. REALLY cold. Like it had been made hours before and handed to me because, hey, look, a burrito has been sitting here and some chump just ordered one. Secondly, It was mostly rice, onions and gristle. The rice was bland. The onions were rank and the gristle was gristle. Every bite was a chore. I ended up pulling most of the “meat” out and putting in the bag provided for this monstrosity. The red salsa was tasty, but the green salsa had spoiled. It had swollen in the container. When I finally gave up trying to eat the so called burrito, my bag was filled with enough gristle for another burrito. Had I put the bag in the garbage at Cunados, it might have become one. DO NOT GO HERE!

Gorditas Estilo Aguascalientes – Menu with Prices – 999 N Waterman Ave, San Bernardino

Decided to try this place and ordered through DoorDash. I got a burrito and quesadilla with Chile relleno. I was disappointed when I took a bit of the burrito because it only had beans, rice, and cheese. I posted a picture of what the burrito should have included. They did have an option to add on more to the burrito and maybe they got confused? Anyway. The Chile relleno quesadilla was BOMB!!! It was only $3. Highly recommend trying that out. Decided to go back in person and give them another try and I am impressed. Took my boyfriend and he got the asana burrito. It comes with everything, BOMB. I again got the quesadilla Chile relleno with beans and rice. Seriously the best place in town. This location is located inside the San Bernardino indoor swap meet.

Pollos Lachuya – Menu with Prices – 2706 E University Dr, Mesa

Was very excited to try Pollos La Chuya, recently named as having the Most Undervalued Burrito in the Western United States. https://towardsdatascience.com/yelps-best-burritos-aafb0eba74da?source=friends_link&sk=cfe3a952f905bc0194b65ddfda24f290 First off, it’s a little hard to find sitting in a strip mall, tucked in the corner. But it’s there. Very unassuming. The decor is plain, about 10 tables. Kitchen open to the counter so you can check out the Mesquite grilled chicken and steak. Nice family run place- the kind I like to spend my money at. There are 2 burritos, Asada and Pollo. I had the Asada. It came out in about 5 minutes, grilled. Have to say, I loved this touch. The burrito didn’t fall apart and it added a nice flavor. The grilled mesquite meat was fabulous and the rest of the ingredients were in the right proportions so that I felt like I was eating a culinary creation, not a thrown together slop of meat, rice and beans. This was easily the best burrito I’ve had. Added the chips and guacamole- fresh and tasty. Bottom line- can’t disagree that this is the best burrito out there. Bravo!!i

Tacos y tortas san bernardino – Menu with Prices – 331 9th St # 7, San Bernardino

I feel KINDA bad about rating this place two stars after coming here and NOT trying a Torta (I mean, it IS called Tortas, Las Glorias after all). Anyway, I went with a carne asada burrito instead of a torta, and wasn’t rewarded for doing so. The burrito is filled with beans, cheese, rice, meat, onion and cilantro. My impression from the first bite: did I order an all rice burrito? Second bite: Dang! This meat is SALTY! Third through tenth bite: where’s the cheese in this thing? Overall, there is way too much rice in this hefty sized burrito. There is a generous amount of meat, but it is all way too salty to enjoy. Bite after bite, I searched for the cheese, but never found it (from a flavor standpoint, I did SEE the cheese in the burrito). Couple the taste of the food with the area in which the restaurant is located (in a sketchy part of San Berdoo) and I’m saying you can get way better Mexican food in the area. I’ll still come back one day to try a Torta (cuz’ I like to be thorough), but based on my first impressions, it’ll be a while before I give that a try.

La Parrilla Mission Taqueria – Menu with Prices – 7372 Mission Boulevard Suite 104, Riverside

The parking lot looked busy, so we decided to give it a try. The staff was friendly – they all looked very busy. I ordered a taco combination plate. It said 2 tacos, beans and chips. Mine came with rice, which I preferred. My husband ordered the chili rellano combination plate. Both came with a soft drink. I ordered a carne asada burrito to go. The server brought us a variety of salsas and chips. A red tomato salsa, a tomatillo salsa(best flavor), an enchilada type sauce and another yellow green salsa. These need work. They need some heat, salt – something’s missing. The server checked on us and I asked if we could get our sodas and then she additionally checked on us 2x more while we waited for our food. The chili rellano plate came first. The cheese was not melted on the inside, the server told us it’s because it’s queso Fresca. Didn’t matter because it still was cold inside. The homemade tortillas are yummy! Rice and beans were ok. Nothing exciting – seem to be missing something. My food still hadn’t come, so I asked when it was ready could I just get it to go, they said sure. Called me over to get it at the counter and I reminded them about my “to go” burrito. I sat back down and waited for it to be made. They did not offer and salsa to go which is ok since I didn’t care for it anyway. I tried my tacos once I got home. The meat needs seasoning. They definitely needed salsa. My son had the burrito- he said the beans need help and the meat needs seasoning too. He was bummed we didn’t get salsa. All in all, I wanted to love this place. Maybe I’ll give them a few months and try later. I’m giving 3 stars because they were trying hard.

Fiesta Del Mar – Menu with Prices – 11320 E 21st St, Tulsa

Fiesta Del Mar is an unassuming restaurant located in a strip shopping center just east of 21st & Garnett. It’s not a large place and has perhaps a dozen booths in which to sit. It’s clean, but there’s a lot of stuff on the counters and walls so it feels a little cramped. Do not let that influence your decision to visit and enjoy this restaurant. The chips are made from corn tortillas that have been cut into quarters and fried. They have body. I like them that way. The salsa is thin but tasty (not chunky). The rice is more of a white rice with some veggies and peppers in it. The refried beans are very good and are made fresh. I had a wet burrito (pollo) which had a salsa verde over it. Once I got past the heat (temperature) I enjoyed the flavors of the chicken and sauce. All together it was really very good. My friend got chicken fajitas which looked incredible. I’ll try that next time!Years ago I ate here and the following happened… I stood at the register paying for my meal and I asked if they had a menu that I could take with me to show to my co-workers. The lady at the register obviously didn’t understand my question due to our language barrier, so she turned around and said something in Spanish to a second lady at the grill. The second lady immediately went to the office and got who I assumed was the father, an older man, who walked across the kitchen and into the dining room where he said something in Spanish to a family that was sitting there. The 10 year old (grandson?) came back into the kitchen and up to the register and said, ‘What were you wanting?’ I asked him if there was a photocopy of their menu that I could take with me. He turned and said something in Spanish to the first lady and she smiled and said, ‘AAAAHHHH! No.’ I’ve always loved this place, and don’t eat here often enough.

Las Cazuelas Traditional Mexican Cusine Menu with Prices 8368 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria

I went in today for lunch after reading all of the great reviews. I was super excited to try their Cazuela Especial that serves 2 people for $30 and their steak quesadilla. The quesadilla was great, the Oaxaca cheese was delicious. However, the Cazuela Especial was not worth the money. This dish includes chicken, shrimp, and steak. It also comes with cheese, tortillas, rice, and beans. It sounds like a lot, but the chicken and steak were not even one inch wide and it was a little over 2 inches long. These were super thin chicken and steak pieces. I wish I would have taken pictures. That being said, it was NOT enough food for two. I’m guessing the 3 choices of protein were only seasoned with salt since it had no flavor. The service was horrible here. I was on a lunch break and took almost 2 hours to get in and out. We knew what we wanted from the start and the food arrived about 35 minutes after. We then waited an additional 20 minutes to pay after getting the check. The guy who served us was very very slow with everything and the woman who cashed us out was rude.

Restaurante Los Poblanos – Menu with Prices – 6402 Bellaire Blvd, Houston

As close to Mexico as you’ll get in Houston. The food tasted almost like I was back in Mexico at the flea market. Service is pretty fast considering there is only two people in the kitchen and one waitress. You’re served with fresh tortilla chips and salsa verde while you wait. I ordered a huarache with steak fajita meat. It comes topped with beans, meat, cheese, sour cream, and lettuce. I added avocado to it. My sister got a burrito without meat since she’s vegetarian. She just got extra beans instead. She said it was really good. It was the size of my entire forearm and only cost $5! My husband had one taco of barbacoa, one carnitas, one al pastor, and one cecina. He enjoyed all of them, although the al pastor one was his favorite. We ended up paying $26 for all three of us and I even ordered a burrito to take for lunch tomorrow so I would say that’s a pretty good deal! I’m definitely going to hit this place up again to try more of their menu items.
