Wow! Where to begin? This was so good! I ordered a carne mancheta arepa, a carne empanada, and tequeños…AMAZING!!! I loved the arepa…it was so full of cheese and meat and had a really nice crisp to it! The empanada was so light and airy and beyond good! I will definitely be returning to try lots more Venezuelan goodness…thank you Entre Panas…¡Me encanta comida Venezolana!

Arepa con que – Menu with Prices – 1898 N Wickham Rd, Melbourne

My craving started when I saw the AREPA CON QUE sign! Atmosphere is really nice and they have original Venezuelan decorations. At this bakery you can create your own arepa. I got an Arepa with avocado, lettuce, tomato and black beans (no cheese!) The flavors of the arepa was really authentic!

Antojitos La Venezolana – Menu with Prices – 1451 Donelson Pike, Nashville

I work a mile down the road and needed to grab something fast, so I decided to grab something from one of the food trucks at the gas station parking lot down the street. There was a Mexican option an a Venezuelan option. I obviously chose the second one. I ordered an arepa and an empanada. The arepa is basically a deep fried sandwich with a meat and cheese on it. It was pretty good. Definitely not healthy by any means. I had it stuffed with shredded beef. The empanada I had with cheese and black beans. It was pretty good as well. The food was pretty good overall. The wait time was probably about 12 minutes. They do have a covered patio with blaring Latino music. A bit much for me to eat there.

Epa Come Arepa – Menu with Prices – 2870 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Duluth

I somehow came across this very new Arepa restaurant on Yelp. I bookmarked it, and told myself that I have to try it asap. They are located on PIB right next to Duluth Package Store. I came on a Friday afternoon around 3pm. Lunch rush was definitely over because no one was in line to order food. I got the #7 which was the carne asada arepa and came topped with avocados, pico de gallo and some sauce. It was really good!! There were hugeee chunks of carne asada, and although it was slightly on the dry side, the flavor was definitely there. I’m an arepa newbie, so not sure how they rated amongst other arepas, but they were good to me! They were out of some items that I wanted to try because they had just finished a lunch rush. Bummer. My sister is vegetarian, and they happy removed the meat off of the arepa for her. They cook everything to order, so be prepared to wait. I think we waited around 15 minutes. I suggest calling in the order beforehand if you’re on a time crunch. My only issue is there was no AC inside. I was dyinggggg and so glad I opted to get take-out instead of dining in. I wouldn’t have survived haha. I’ll definitely be back when I’m craving arepas!

Patacon Latin Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 308 Bertrand Dr, Lafayette

I found myself in Lafayette for a couple of days and was curious as to what kind of tasty food I could find. I knew Lafayette was known for really great Cajun food and Boudin but being Latinx myself, I always try to scope some good Latinx food in town if possible. Lo and behold, I found Patacon on yelp and the reviews seemed promising. My girlfriend is gluten free so it can sometimes be tough to find GF options. Almost everything on their menu was GF! All the food we ordered was absolutely delicious! And to boot, the bill only came to $25 bucks. We ordered a corn empanada filled with crawfish, a cheese and avocado Patacon, a pork Patacon, and a beef arepa. The arepa was pretty good but the true standouts were the patacones. WOW. If you’ve never had one before I highly recommend you try one for the first time here. A Patacon is a sandwich that essentially uses fried plantains as a substitute for bread. The sauces they include with your order were also very flavorful. The red one was pretty spicy so definitely don’t slather it on unless you have a high spice tolerance. I took the food to go, but they did have a little seating area with about six or seven tables. I definitely look forward to come back to this cute and tasty spot again the next time I’m in Lafayette and craving some tasty Venezuelan food.

Que Chevere! – Menu with Prices – 6-98 N 12th St, McAllen

As I said in my review for Nuri food truck, the food truck park offered nothing new and innovative when it first started. If you want to start a business and sell your product well, you better offer the public something no one else is. Now the food truck park finally has 2 unique trucks and this is one of them. The food is amazing! I got an arepa with beef, beans and plantains. When I saw plantains on the menu I was sooooo excited! It seems no one in the valley makes dishes with plantains. Being from Miami, plantains were everywhere and I miss them. This is the only place in the valley that offers me a taste of home. After my first bite I was sold. To me, this is comfort food. The meat was seasoned to absolute perfection with the correct spices and the sweet plantain complimented the other savory flavors wonderfully. The carne pastelito was delicious as well. Nice and crispy with full flavored tender meat on the inside. This place offers delicious and authentic Venezuelan food. If you’re going to the food truck park and want to try something new and different, check out this Venezuelan treasure and Nuri. You can’t go wrong with either one.

Latin Fork Arepas Bistro – Menu with Prices – 1016 Buenaventura Blvd, Kissimmee

I have been to this place once before and decided to come back, very disappointed, the place had only one couple and I had to wait a long time for an arepa, there was one girl at the register and another one either cooking or serving, she kept bringing food to that couple over and over, and the lady from the couple just kept getting up and ordering more food, but my order took for ever that I had to approach them to ask how long it was going to take, I asked nicely but that seemed to upset the girl at the counter. They had two types of maltas and I asked the girl which one she liked better, she said she had only tried the Venezuelan type. When I finally got my arepa, it was crunchy and on one side and soggy and crumbling on the other side, I had many arepas in the Orlando/Kissimmee area and this one was the worse I’ve ever had. Never going back, a waste of money.

Antojitos de tu País – Menu with Prices – 3160 Spring St, Fairfax

From my understanding Antojitos de tu Pais is the building location associated with the food truck Arepazone. This place is a bit of a “hole in the wall,” but I have found those are the best for finding authentic ethnic foods! In this case, Venezuelan food. It’s a small place with a few tables, or you could get it to go. Also, they have a little shop inside, which sells Venezuelan snacks. Some of our favorites include Ovomaltina (nutella in a tube) and Cocosette (coconut wafer cookies). Unlike the foodtruck, ADTP sells empanadas- and they are probably the best I’ve ever had! The key is the dough, which is similar to arepa dough if you’ve had them, but a bit sweeter. If you’ve never had empanadas, they are bread pockets with different fillings inside. They have a few different fillings; we tried: queso (cheese), pollo mechado (chicken stew), and Pabellon (beef, fried plantains, black beans, cheese). They also sell Tequenos, which are like the mozzerella sticks of Venezuela…actually better IMO! There’s a green garlicy sauce on the table along with a spicier one. The food was FANTASTIC!! Sweet and savory and buttery all at once- yum! I found about this place from my soon-to-be father in law, who is Venezuelan-American. I’m not sure how he found out about it, but clearly word had spread among the community because it appeared to be a popular little place on a Saturday at lunchtime. To others like me who do not speak Spanish, don’t be afraid! I ordered an extra empanada in English and it was no problemo! Please don’t let that stop you from trying this fabulous restaurant out! Finding it can be a bit tricky- drive down Spring Street until the road starts to curve left, then turn left into a parking lot. It will look like nothing but storage/warehouse units, but ADTP is tucked in there I promise! Walk toward the back of the parking lot (away from Spring Street) and it’s on your left about halfway down. Also, I recommend checking out their Facebook page (click the “translate” option) for more info, including address and hours: https://www.facebook.com/AntojitosDeTuPais/?hc_ref=NEWSFEED

7ty One Restaurant & Coffee – Menu with Prices – 1130 Normandy Dr, Miami Beach

Excellent Venezuelan food, it’s small but everyone treats you nice and close. Like friends. We ordered 2 breakfast with eggs, shredded meat, cheese, avocado, fried plantain, and of course arepa, it was super yummy. It was pretty big maybe you can share if the two persons don’t eat that much. Also, they have really good freshly made juices Definitely not good for big parties since the place is pretty small. And it’s very comfortable to park since there’s street parking right outside and there’s always availability.

The Ponce St. Augustine Hotel – Menu with Prices – 1111 N Ponce De Leon Blvd, St. Augustine

I heard of this place on IG- not sure how but since I’m half Colombian I wanted to go see what the food was all about. Luckily I read a review on Yelp that mentioned it’s hard to spot this restaurant as it’s in the lobby of the Ponce hotel. Cute small restaurant, super casual. You can see the hotel pool from inside the restaurant. We ordered three different appetizers- chicken empanadas, tostones and cheese arepas. The empanada exterior isn’t like I’ve had before- this exterior was made out of a cornbread like mixture. One cheese arepa was enough for two people and the corn meal was sweet like dessert. The tostones were served with an onion type relish. For our main we shared a meat combo platter that had steak, chicken, chorizo and crispy pork belly plus tostones, yuca, picked onion/tomato mixture and a plain white corn arepa. Everything we tried was served on cutting boards. I don’t realize tostones were on the platter we ordered, if I had we wouldn’t have ordered the app. Over all everything was good. The plain arepa was very bland. We both agreed we would come back and they the bowls they have on the menu. They do have a bar. Not sure if only beer and wine or if liquor too. The service was very pleasant.

Venezuelan Chamo Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 950 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena

This restaurant is quite unnoticeable when driving by, if you weren’t planning on coming here, it would be a shame for those to miss this spot because first of all, not saying this because I love Venezuelan food. In all honesty, people are truly missing out on the Venezuelan flavors. The place is very and cozy, the staffs are super friendly and welcoming. It makes it feel like you’re coming over to your friends house and eating their grandma’s cooking. Very traditional decorated just like a typically Venezuelan home which always a good reminder of where you came from. Food is delicious and wished I can eat it everyday, the only bad thing is their pricing. It’s a bit pricey, I understand that there isn’t much Venezuelan restaurant around the area, but wished it would be a bit more affordable. All their food is delicious, we literally ordered almost every single dish on the menu because I wanted to try a bit of everything! There is parking in the back of the building that patrons are free to use, the service is quick and friendly.

Reina Pepiada Menu with Prices 603 W Live Oak St, Austin

Finally! A good Venezuelan food truck south of the river that meets my expectations! ? I know there’s several Venezuelan food trucks in town but I haven’t liked any one of them except for the one by 5000 Burnet in North Austin, or points even further north. This truck, the Reina Pepiada (Curvy Queen) gets my repeat visits and dollars south of Downtown. The arepas taste great, with authentic and home-style flavors. I’m even able to customize my arepas to get the rare (but delicious) offering of the arepa llanera (steak, cheese, avocado and tomato). Prices are also very reasonable and the arepas are a good size. The menu is large and features some typical Venezuelan fast food burgers and hot dogs (also hard to find south of the river). There’s only very few staples missing, such as the mandocas (plantain fried fritters), chupes, etc – and I can see the menu needing vegetarian and even vegan options to get more South Austin love for the many vegan friends living in the area. Few other things I would like to see fixed – but they’re not food related. I would like to see less use of plastic and styrofoam. But that’s me being eco-friebdlu I’ll be back for sure, and sampling even more things. Note: As of April 2019, Yelp still hasn’t fixed the hours of operations. Call the business before going.

Pastel Gourmet – Menu with Prices – 6944 Cypresswood Dr b, Spring

Yes, it’s beside a gas station. But just the first few minutes inside and you’ll feel like you’re in our Uncle’s house, about to chow down on amazing authentic Venezuelan grub. We ordered a smorgasbord of items (we came hungry, what can I say?) and the owner, Marlon, at the register was a real help walking us thru the menu. “I’m not responsible for the addiction that happens after this,” he said with a smile. Egg and bacon baked empanada: GREAT flavor. This could be an easy breakfast go to. Didn’t even need the additional orange sauce that came with. Barbarque fried empanada: it comes out HOT!! No question these are cooked to order. Not overly spicy, but good backyard barbecue flavor. Don’t think ‘sauce’ as there is none. Just the meat and it’s perfect. The corn shell makes this like cornbread and meat– a Venezuelan corn dog!!. Awesome! Pabellon: black beans, fried plantains, white cheese and pulled pork. Not my favorite, but an interesting combination of sweet (plantain) and savory (everything else). At this point Marlon checks back in with us for a second time- making sure everything came out right and hot. This first time, he brought over a green sauce for us to try and mentioned that in Venezuela, you don’t dip into the sauce, you pour the sauces on: “Because you don’t want to leave behind anything good!” Shredded beef baked empanada: Me: “I’m not sure which one this is.” Hubby, licking his fingers: “GOOD.” This one speaks lunch to me, and the addition of the orange sauce makes it wonderfully delicious. Finally (I told you we ordered a lot!) the shredded beef Arepas: It’s like a sandwich with fried corn patties for the bread. Shredded beef, cheese (but not too much), and a green sauce that will BLOW YOUR MIND! I’m so glad we saved this for last, because I’m walking out of here on cloud 9! Marlon is a gem- we spent a few minutes chatting with him after our meal, talking about the ‘take home and bake’ selections in the freezer. He points out the corn cheese appetizers and says “Do you have a little room let? I want you to try these, on the house”. So now, we wait, ready for the next hot, delicious, wonderful tastes that Pastel Gourmet has in store for us…
