This is some of the most delicious Indian food in town that I’ve had, however I am really bummed and disappointed by the serving size to the point that I probably wont eat here again. The portions I received from Viking Delivery were really tragic, where the containers I received had 90% RICE and maybe 10% curry. Seriously, my delivery containers were more than half full of plain rice, with a VERY SMALL layer of curry on top. It’s disappointing not only that they package everything together, which blends flavors, but also that there isn’t much of it at all, so all my curry gravy was absorbed by the rice and was very dry. This is very different from other restaurants that give a fair amount, in separate containers, so this problem is avoided. I don’t know why I would pay more for less food… I will probably go back to the other Indian restaurants even though they’re not quite as good, at least I get a fair amount of food. I wish I had a picture of what was given to me. I ate a few bites of the small amount of curry I was given, was still very hungry, and had nothing but plain rice to finish. For this reason, I probably won’t eat here again, which makes me very sad. I felt cheated out of food and like I paid for a “few bites” of curry and paid for 90% plain rice which I could’ve cooked at home. For paying nearly $20 for a meal, I expect to be able to fill up on real food, not just rice. Heartbreaking.

Indian Xpress 2 – Menu with Prices – 1201 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island

This review is for takeout, can’t comment on ambiance or service. I’m an Indian food junky. For a long time I lived at Curry Hill in midtown, and have tried all kinds of Indian food and often. I’m so glad this place opened on Staten Island. The food is very authentic and well prepared. Goat is a welcome ingredient that you don’t always find in Indian restaurants these days. I have had here garlic naan, Chxn Tikka Masala, Lamb Korma, and Goat Curry (Khosa Mangso). Everything was great, the goat was particularly delicious. Flavorful, rich curries and nice cuts of meat. The portions are generous, with good amount of protein. Basmati rice is included, which is nice.. many places charge extra for the rice. If you are in the area and have a hankering for authentic Indian, definitely recommend this spot.

Saint Louis Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 8624 Natural Bridge Rd, St. Louis

When this establishment first opened service was beyond slow so they overfilled the foam containers with food. Now they give you Tupperware sized delivery containers filled with rice and a scattering of the entree on top. Smaller size containers and more rice keep their costs low and your value as well. My second time trying delivery. The first time the foam container was filled with lo mein and just a bit of entree in the corner and the delivery driver got lost. I will not be patronizing them any longer. If you consider this the best in St. Louis, God help us all.

Apna Indian Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 718 State St, Santa Barbara

This may be my new favorite Indian place in town! While I am sad that Goa Taco closed, I have been surprisingly pleased with this replacement. Today was my second time going and EVERYTHING was on point. The mango lassi was absolutely delicious, exactly like it should taste, super mango-y and just the right amount of thickness. I got the masala curry with chicken (last time I had the korma curry), asked for medium spice, and they absolutely delivered. So many people I know claim Flavor of India is the best Indian place, but every time I ask for spicy they never actually make it spicy. Apna, on the other hand, gave exactly the amount of spice for it to be medium. My nose was running slightly which proves that it really was the perfect amount. Not only that, but the flavors are perfectly blended and the amount of rice is perfect for the amount of curry. Lastly, they gave me a free hot chai at the end of the meal, which was a great way to get that sweetness as a finish. Hope they stick around for a while!

Hot & Spicy Corner – Menu with Prices – 3431 Houma Blvd suite b, Metairie

I cannot emphasize how happy I am that: 1. Hot and Spicy Corner extists and 2. That they are on food delivery apps! Until this point, good casual (Saffron is great but a little too fancy for eating while you binge watch Netflix in your pajamas) Indian food was the hole missing in the heart of New Orleans food scene. My boyfriend’s family is from India so he and I may have been a little excessive in our ordering: 1. Chicken biriyani- tender bone in chicken in rice with the perfect amount of spice! 2. Goat Curry- I didn’t have this, but my boyfriend said it was incredibly flavorful 3. Chicken Tikka Masala- beautifully tender chunks of chicken in a spicy, creamy sauce. This had a good kick to it that I’m not used to getting at restaurants. 4. Chicken Manchurian- great dish, basically an Indian take on Chinese food. My boyfriend said that this is something he has been trying to track down for a while. 5. Bhindi Masala- chopped okra in spicy masala seasoning. This was probably my favorite! 6. Dal Makhani- think of this as Indian red beans and rice. Flavorful and very filling. Honestly, each dish could easily feed two people, so we will be eating this for the next few days, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! There are a TON of veggie options as well as halal meat. Definitely check them out!

Roti Corner – Menu with Prices – 18018 Hillside Avenue, Jamaica

Invited by a friend to try out this place for lunch today. I am not West Indian so I’m not qualified to speak about the authenticity of the food here but I can say that I know good food & what I enjoy. I tried the curry duck with rice, potato, and daal and they threw in a little hot sauce on the side for me to try out. The duck was very tender and flavorful. Not overly spicy but it had good flavor. The daal was okay but a little thin for my taste and compared to what I’ve had before. Potatoes were also cooked well and tasty although not overly seasoned – not a complaint, just an observation. I liked the hot sauce – good flavor, not just pure heat – and will ask for more of that next time. I also tried a bit of my pal’s curry beef and it was super tender and tasted good. Washed it all down with a West Indian lime rickey soda and that hit the spot and was a good companion for the food. The interior was clean, for the most part, although not super brightly lit. We sat by the door and caught the nice breeze while also allowing ourselves some ventilation so as not to be marinated in the strong (yet delicious) scents wafting through the joint. Still left smelling of the place but, hey, that’s not uncommon when you go to most (West) Indian restaurants, right? They give you a lot of food packed into the container so you will either leave stuffed and waddling or have leftovers. I don’t consider either a bad option. Pricing is very fair, especially for the amount of food they give you. Hoping to go back, try some other menu items, and bump up my star rating. If I could give it 3.5 based on this visit, I would. If everything were as satisfying as the curry duck, I would have given them 4 stars. Oh well…that leaves room for next time.

Tuition Tacos Menu with Prices 3444 E Orangethorpe Ave, Anaheim

I’d like to start by saying the communication & ordering process was 10+. Perfect in every way. Hector displayed great customer service, confirmation of the ordering and the live chat with Sandy was a convenient feature for any/all questions. Why the 3 stars… I felt that the food and items included fell short and perhaps was disappointed as I was expecting similar to the sample pictures I saw for catered events. The food… I ordered Angus Carne Asasa for 40 and Carnitas, Guac, Rice, Chips, Refried Beans for 20. We had 15 guests total. Angus Carne Asada – 3 stars. Acceptable. Not the best and not the worst. The beef was slightly dry and a bit bland even with all the noticable black pepper. The Angus quality was not distinguishable from any other standard carne asada meat. Did not validate the additional cost. I was surprised and even questioned the staff as I saw the tray was only half filled in comparison to the carnitas when I ordered double the amount of carne asada. Carnitas – 3 stars. Acceptable. Bit bland despite all the random broken pieces of bayleaves mixed in. I fished out all the small bayleaf pieces as that was unpleasant to bite into. Guac – 4 stars. Good and was plentiful. Received 3 16oz containers. The amount received was on par for the number of people ordered. Chips – 4 stars. Good. oddly, the quantity appeared less and not enough for 20. Red/Green Salsa – both came in 16oz/2c containers. Received One container of each. These salsas are included and not an additional cost. Was one container each enough for the number of tacos ordered? Positive note, the red salsa was well received and enjoyed. Chopped Onions/Cilantro – included and in the 16oz containers. Received one container each. I again was surprised to only see one container of each for an order of 40ppl asada and 20ppl carnitas. Refried Beans – 3 stars. Plentiful. Flavor was average. Again, a bit bland. Not the best nor the worst. Spanish Rice – 3.5 stars. Plentiful. This item was more flavorful than the meats and beans. Disposal White Forks & Spoons – 1 star. The disposable utensils and styrofoam plates are included. The description online’s states ‘heavy’ utensils. These were of the poorest quality. The kind that easily bend. Based on the pictures and description, this was a surprise. Perhaps sharing a true picture and description of the product would have been less misleading. Picture of the white utensils received compared to true heavy duty clear disposable utensils that I had purchased elsewhere. Overall, Tuition Bites has a great purpose. Again, communication was great. The delivery was running about 15+ minutes behind and called to inform me. Definitely appreciated that. I hope my feedback allows for improvement on the opportunities and for those searching given a true depiction of the product.

Sushi Ming Japanese Kitchen Menu with Prices 5430 McGinnis Ferry Rd #103, Alpharetta

So the first time I was a few months after opening, and I got a sushi special. It was fresh, well prepared, the fish was fresh, the rice was perfect, the flavors were well balanced, just a solid win. I didn’t write a review because, well, it was doing pretty well and as I’ve mentioned in a few other reviews, I prefer to go to a place at least twice before reviewing. The second time I went I instead went for the tonkatsu curry. What came out was a pretty plain looking plate of curry sauce, rice, and a cutlet. But the curry was really good! I don’t know if it’s just been so long since I’ve had Japanese-style curry, but it had a nice pungent, almost medicinal flavor to it. The katsu was a little on the smaller side but for the price, it’s pretty fair. And the rice on the curry. Every grain was plump and bouncy, smooth and well-cooked. None of it was over or undercooked, there was no graininess to it, just a perfect base for the rest. And then I got an order of salmon nigiri juuuuuuust to check on the sushi. And it’s still quite fresh, and the portions are fine, but for whatever reason the rice was slightly chalky, wtf. It also was packed a bit loose, but I suppose that’s better than the dense blocks you get at some places. Overall it’s still a place I’ll be happy to go to whenever the urge hits. They also asked how I enjoyed my meal and they were very receptive to the comments I had. It’s always nice when you go to a place where they are trying to maintain quality and service.

Bistro 1245 – Menu with Prices – 1245 W University Ave, Gainesville

I did not have a good experience at Leonardos and I hoped that Bistro would be a much better experience. I’ve read the reviews that the service is terrible. And its true. The person at the front was using her phone while I was trying to get my order. The service isn’t as bad as what I expected but still something I would think that should not occur at establishments like this. The interior is nice. A little dirty but all restaurants are a bit like that. I ordered the curry pasta and wow it was spectacularly disgusting. I don’t think I have tasted something so so salty in my life from a restaurant. I kinda expected the curry to be thick but it was all liquid. The flavor was just soy sauce. And man, that was so much soy sauce. I wouldn’t be surprised if they just dumped a cup of soysauce in there. I have a couple things to say about this. 1. That’s not a proper use to soy sauce. You would use oyster sauce for stuff like fried rice. Or marinade a steak or fish with soy sauce. Noodles you can stirfry with soy sauce but you absolutely do not use this audacious amount of soy sauce. 2. You just do not put soy sauce in curry like that. Indian curries don’t do this. Japanese curries don’t do this. Southeast Asian curries do not do this. Why did this restaurant think this was a good idea. It just disgusts me how soy sauce was so properly misused. I am not coming to this establishment again. Trust.

Curry Pizza House – Fremont – Menu with Prices – 39070 Fremont Blvd, Fremont

Being a huge fan of pizza I see it as a duty to try as many different types and restaurants I can. However, I have often been left unsatisfied by Indian fusion pizzas (such as curry pizzas). I thought maybe they just aren’t for me, then came Curry Pizza House a buck to the trend. It is not only the best curry pizza I’ve had, but it is also among some of the best pizza I’ve had overall. I’ve been quite a few times and the staff is usually quick to take your order. However, they aren’t very quick to clean the tables after guests leave. Once you order, expect a reasonable 15-minute wait for your food. My personal favorite is the Chilli Paneer pizza, it has a great balance of spice, paneer, and veggies. The fresh cilantro really ads depth to the flavor of the pizza. I’ve also had the Shahi Paneer, Palak Paneer, and Achari Gobhi. However, none are as good as the Chili Paneer, though they are worth a try. The prices are decent, considering you get a whole heap of toppings, a large pizza will feed about 3 people. Overall, Curry Pizza House is a standout restaurant among both Indian cuisine and pizza. It is a must try for everyone, I would definitely recommend you try it.

Taj Mahal Cuisine of India – Menu with Prices – 3939 Center Point Rd NE, Cedar Rapids

The best Indian food I have had in the USA. I (born and brought up in India, so I know authentic Indian food when I taste it) just moved to CR from California, and didn’t actually have any hope of finding good Indian food. But color me surprised to find the best Indian food I have had in the US. Only 2 words to describe the taste at this restaurant: Authentic and Delicious. I have been to a lot of Indian restaurants in the USA, but they all tone down not only the spice but also the flavor. But not here at Tajmahal! I was so happy to taste the authentic Indian taste in each and every item. The food isn’t too spicy but still ensures to be very flavorful, which is the sign of a really good Chef. The first bite that I took of the mutter paneer, took my tastebuds back to India. The food is just bursting with flavor and aroma . The goat curry was almost exactly the way my mom makes it in India. The chicken tandoor was very well cooked and the flavor went all the way to the bone. Most Indian restaurants (in the USA) won’t have south Indian cuisine, but I was delighted to find Dosa (sort of a crepe with spiced potato filling ) an authentic South Indian dish. The vegetarian dishes like chana masala and mutter paneer were 10/10. The mango lassi was brilliant, the perfect amount of mango, milk and sugar. Desserts: the mango ice cream was awesome and the gulab jamun were pretty good aswell. I have been there only a couple of times and that too for a buffet. I can only imagine how much more tasty the food would be when you order it off the menu and can ask them to make it according to your taste and choice. Pros: Great Food. Great service. Indian grocery store is right besides the restaurant. Cons: Ambiance of the place isn’t bad but it could be much better. I have also visited “Taste of India”, which has a much better ambiance (good food as well), but is no where near in terms of the REAL taste of India which you get at Tajmahal. I definitely plan to be a regular at this place and would suggest everyone to try the food at this small restaurant with a big heart !

Niki’s Indian Food – Menu with Prices – 2031 E First St A3, Santa Ana

This is a nice mom and pop shop to curb your Indian food cravings, and the owner is the nicest person ever! = L O C A T I O N = The restaurant is small, and located in the same plaza as the Sandwich Society. We were originally going to go there, but we decided we wanted Indian food instead. There is plenty of parking available in this plaza. The interior is plain and the food is served from warmers, cafeteria-style. = F O O D = I got the $10 two entree combo, which came with rice and naan. I picked the chicken tikka masala and the spinach curry. I enjoyed the food, but it didn’t stand out very much in terms of spice and seasoning. But the volume of food for the price is great. = S E R V I C E = The part of Niki’s Indian Food that stood out the most was definitely the glowing service. The minute you step in, you’re showered with attention from the owner. This might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I thought it was great. He offered us samples before we made a decision on what entrees to get, and answered all our questions on how the food was cooked, etc. He was very concerned about how we enjoyed the food and if we were comfortable. ==== Food: 3 // Service: 5 // Environment: 3 // Price: 4

Little India Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 25000 US Hwy 19 N, Clearwater

Little India is located on the west side of US Hwy 19, north of Sunset Point Rd. in Clearwater. Over the years, this site has been the location of many different kinds of restaurants. As a heads-up, be sure and have a seat where everyone in your party can see the TV because they run Bollywood movies! The interior is clean and tidy. We were there for their lunch buffet. They had a fair amount of offerings. We were there just as they were opening and only had to wait a bit for all the food to be put out. It was all pipping hot! They had all of your standard favorites like Tandoori Chicken, Butter Chicken, Lamb Curry (my fav) and of course Vegetable Biryani. We found everything very tasty. There seemed to be a lot of vegan/vegetarian dishes on offer. There was also plenty of Naan to scoop everything up with. The only challenge we had was with the service. They seemed under staffed the morning that we were there. Getting beverages and plate pick up was quite slow. That being said, we had a great meal at a reasonable price. I can definitely recommend stopping by when you have Indian food cravings!
