Let Mo work his magic. I met Mo Pittle, the owner of JBB, with a grin – it’s hard to not crack a smile when talking to him. It was my first time at his truck, and he took me and my girlfriend through the menu with the practiced ease of a pro. After five minutes of deciding, and another five of cooking, we got our burgers, labeled “His” and “Hers.” Mo, a veteran chef, cooks his 80-20 patties to perfection, cooking them first over the onions, then steaming them with the cheese. The result is a juicy burger that is as far from oily as his potato buns are from being too bready. Mo’s patented “anything you want except tomatoes” ethos for cooking makes for a spectacular, clean burger (one specialty comes with only green chilies, cheese, and a light mustard spread), which is nearly impossible to top. I say nearly, because I haven’t mentioned his latkes yet. As a kid who grew up Jewish, I have tried a myriad of latke recipies. I’ve had them with applesauce, sour cream, mustard, and in a recent outing, a lettuce slaw. Nothing I’ve had prepared me for Mo’s minimalist salt & pepper perfection, served with a side of sour cream (or spicy tomato ketchup if that’s your thing). As we were first timers, Mo treated my girlfriend and me to free drinks with our meal – the sidral I got went surprisingly well with his polished fare. We sat down to eat, the food making the Austin heat fade away for a few minutes, pausing our conversation occasionally to listen to the sound of Mo cooking happily in his chrome kitchen. As we walked away, we saw two new customers walking over to JBB, enticed by Mo’s call of “you hungry?” What I wouldn’t have given to be hungry enough to fall into step behind them and get a burger to go. Take it from a Jewish kid who knows what he’s talking about. Go see Mo, and get whatever looks best – it’s guaranteed to be good. Just don’t ask for tomatoes.

European Bakery & Pastry – Menu with Prices – 29 Millbury St, Worcester

A Polish/Jewish bakery, really good challah bread! But not every type of bread (my favorite being the raisin challah) is baked every day, though usually friday/saturday is a good bet. I’m neither Polish nor Jewish myself so I can’t speak of “authenticity”, but I do like my bread. They also make interesting eclairs–“interesting”, I mean I really like them, not for the pate a choux part (eh), but for the mystifying cream filling. It’s not pastry cream, not whipped cream, definitely not French… I also like the huge fudgy brownies. The cookies, cheesecake and apple dessert I find unremarkable, but maybe because I’m looking for something different. I go here for the challah bread, so do Polish/Jewish locals, and you should too.

Taqueria Los Altos de jalisco #3 – Menu with Prices – 8151 Leopard St, Corpus Christi

So a while back I went to get nachos with the lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and guacamole. When I got my order it was just nachos and beans cheese and asada meat. I ate like that hadn’t gone back in a very long time. Went back today. Ordered nachos beans and cheese asada meat lettuce tomatoes sour cream and guacamole. When I got my plate I checked it before I left this time. It had very lil lettuce I a lot of jalapenos and a lot of pico. I took it back in and I didn’t check it before I left this time. Bad choice NO LETTUCE NO TOMATOES, the guacamole and sour cream were in separate containers which was fine. So we’ll ok I go to eat and I find the tiny stem of the avocado in the guacamole and jalapeno in my sourcream. So I know they scouped up from the original plate and just out in a separate containers. So now I’m grossed out. I’ve been wanting nachos so bad and I can eat the messed up remake of the messed up original plate. So that’s it I wouldn’t recommend this place and I will never go again. And they weren’t very nice about when I went in the first place.

Klondike Sunset Casino – Menu with Prices – 444 W Sunset Rd, Henderson

Last evening 2/16/2019 my girlfriend and I went to have dinner and enjoy the comedy show Bonkerz. First let me state the comedy show was FANTASTIC. The headliner James “BIGFOOT” Scott was absolutely hilarious, the openers were also very entertaining. THEY GET 5 STARS ! The venue in the Klondike Casino is their restaurant Sarah’s Kitchen. I signed in for the comedy venue, and was advised to sit anywhere. I must have picked the invisible table…….then I realized there were many, many invisible tables. Where I sat was only placemats. I sat for over 45 minutes without anyone asking if I wanted a beverage. Clients noticed that I patiently sat for over almost an hour………No bus person, waiter..NO ONE even as much stopped at the table. Oh by the way they no longer offer club members the Prime Rib Special, it was $5.55 for club card holders, it is now $12.99. That being said after an hour my girlfriend ordered a salad that arrived with NO DRESSING. That fiasco required asking 3 employees for dressing. My burger was undercooked….I ate it because it had taken 40 minutes for the burger and salad to arrive, I was HUNGRY, and may never see my food again. Needless to say, the service was DEPLORABLE, AWFUL, TOTALLY INVISIBLE. Management should have pulled someone over from the bar wait staff. The comedy venue was totally packed. I have made a firm decision to never eat at that property EVER AGAIN. I will attend the BONKERZ comedy venue.

On Your Mark Cafe – Menu with Prices – 639 Forest Ave, Staten Island

I ate in here for breakfast with the guy I am currently dating. I have had food from this place before, but never ate-in until yesterday. Like Heather (my sister-in-law) said, it is funded by “On Your Mark.” Your order is taken by and served by the consumers (People who utilize the services of OYM. I had pancakes with bacon. Matt had eggs with hash-browns, bacon and a bagel. We also had 2 bottles of water. Our breakfast bill came to $6.25. Our conversation during the meal: FYI Matt and I are both Jewish. Matt: This a really good bagel. I think it’s the best I ever had. Me: Now is it a good bagel that tastes like regular bread,? or a good bagel as in a JEWISH bagel? Matt: Jewish bagel, wanna try a piece? Me: (Makes “this is the best i’ve ever had face”) Matt: You don’t like it? Me: NOOO I love it! This IS a Jewish bagel.

Mangos Cuban Cafe – Menu with Prices – 317 S Trenton Ave Suite A, Tulsa

every time i try to check this place out, they’re either closed or on the verge of closing. this past weekend, i made it my mission to check this place out & it finally happened. the food was well worth it. after wanting to go for their cuabn burger, i figured that would be the easy way out (put a burger on the menu & i’ll stop looking at anything else). i went with the cubano: slow roasted pork, ham, swiss cheese, dill pickles & mustard. incredible from the first bite. it’s tangy from the pickles & the roast beef is so good! the cuban bread had a nice crunch (i love pressed sandwiches). i usually pay attention to sauces, whether it’s whatever is part of the order i make or if i like to sub it for something that catches my eye (almost subbed mustard for the mojo sauce… i don’t think that sauce would’ve been right with the sandwich). instead of fries, i ordered their tostones: fried green plantains. it’s the exact of opposite of the sweet plantains that people could be used to. it’s savory & comes with a sauce that’s sour cream, lime juice & cilantro, real good! fyi: there was no extra charge for subbing the fried with the tostones. all in all, good experience. the owners greeted the party i was with as SOON as we walked in. very friendly. our waitress was good as well. checked on us consistently along with getting our order. first impression was a good one. i will come back for the cuban burger if it’s available.

Topor’s Pickle Company – Menu with Prices – 2500 Orleans St, Detroit

After talking to several colleagues about pickles from the store, two came up made right here in Detroit; Topor’s and McClures. I tried McClures and I’ll write up a review for it soon, but it was better than the national chain jarred pickles. But when you come from Detroit and you’re Jewish, well, you become an expert on pickles and you don’t settle for the nasty jar of pickles in the store. The only way to go is deli purchased. During that discussion, my colleague told me about Topor’s, which to my surprise, I had never heard of them. For inexperienced Jewish deli visitors, there are two kinds of pickles; new and old dill. Old dill is very strong garlic and vinegar flavor, softer without the pickle crunch, overall a much larger kick in your mouth. The new dill maintains its cucumberness. It’s very crunchy and garlic flavor. The best way to describe new dill is saying the cucumber is becoming a pickle, but then it’s stopped short. I have not had the pleasure yet to try Topor’s new dill yet, but I can’t wait. If it’s anything like the old dill, then finally, a store bought pickle the way it should be. The old dill was authentic and true to it’s deli flavor. I had a bite and I was transported to the Jewish deli immediately. Topor’s is the way to go for any jar of pickles. By the way, they are hard to find in the grocery store because they are only carried in predominately Jewish areas. They have them in Oak Park Farm Fresh and some Krogers. Last note about them, they are also about $5 cheaper per jar compared to McClures. Enjoy

Clark Street Grill Menu with Prices 2711 Richmond Hwy, Arlington

This diner have lots of food to choose from. It also serve breakfast. My husband and I ate here for lunch and the food was good. I had a philly cheese steak sub and my husband had a bacon cheese burger. We had the lunch special which came with fries and a drink. The Philly cheese steak meat was tender, but they didn’t season it. It’s salt and pepper on the table. I requested mustard and mayonnaise on mine with well cooked mushroom and light grilled onions. My husband had a well cooked burger with cheese, bacon, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, onions, tomatoes and lettuce. He said his burger was delicious Pro: Clean diner, fast pace, friendly employees, great food, adult beverages and many snacks and choices of entrees for you and your family. Con: I had to wash my hands since I forgot to bring my hand sanitizer. The restaurant only have one bathroom stall for women and the door doesn’t lock. I’m glad that I don’t use public toilets or I would’ve been upset. If I had to do it all over again, I would order a vanilla shake, a cheese burger and fries. If we’re in town and on this end, we may come back. Great place solo or with family and friends.

Roger’s Burgers – Menu with Prices – 591 N D St, San Bernardino

I tried out Rogers Burgers with a co-worker after another co-worker had suggested we should have the decadent Wild and Wreckless Burger that he just loved. So, we did. Rogers Burgers is not in the best part of town, but then again, there is very little in the City of San Bernardino that would be considered nice. This place is an older Mom and Pop type burger stand that has two locations, here and in Burbank with possibly more locations coming. Nice but not overly inviting and a bit loud inside the small eating/cooking area, Rogers gives you just enough space for a quick meal before you move on. We tried the Wild and Wreckless Burger with was a 1/3 lb 100% Angus Beef burger, tomato red onion mustard sauce, pickles, bacon, chili cheese and topped with pastrami! This was one really good sized, messy but tasty burger. The tomato red onion mustard sauce was unique and was very good with their chili and bacon make this burger well worth the $7.49 price. Rogers offers other burgers, sandwiches, breakfasts and combos with fries as well. I opted not to get the fries for $1.99 as I am trying to cut back but they do look really good and will try them next time. For the most part it looks like Rogers keeps things fresh and simple and do a good job with their burgers. Everything is cooked fresh and the wait was a bit long but to be expected with freshly made burgers. Their breakfast burritos also looked good in the pictures and would like to try them. I hope they expand out into the Upland/Rancho area where I think to might do some good business

The Synagogue | Congregation B’nai Emunah – Menu with Prices – 1719 S Owasso Ave, Tulsa

Before my trip to Europe in December of 2015 where I visited several Holocaust related sites, including Auschwitz, I decided to visit this synagogue that I drive by all the time to learn a little more about the Jewish religion and culture. I am not Jewish or religious at all. I went to the Shabbat for Everyone. Everyone was friendly and welcoming as I was feeling someone timid and out of place at first. I actually enjoyed the singing and the music so much that I would like to go back.

Providence Wine BAR – Menu with Prices – 485 Angell St, Providence

My wife and I are from NY/NJ, grew up with jewish delis, and so we’ve been wanting to check out Mercers. We had a delicious sunday lunch. We split a pastrami on rye and and order of latkes. The latkes were tasty, and served with apple sauce and sour cream. The sour cream was seasoned, which i thought was nice touch. The pastrami was perfectly warmed, not dry, and had great flavor. We got house made sauerkraut on the side, which I could not stop eating. It was finely shredded, and had light and subtle taste to it; not too salty or overpowering. Perfect with the pastrami. I encourage anyone reading these reviews to go and check out mercers for yourself. Totally surprised to see bad reviews; i personally think most of them are untrue, unfair, or just from lunatics. Just to address a few based on my experience: the ordering process was clear and efficient, the prices are appropriate for high quality house made food with a focus on traditional craft, everything was fresh. Oh and the hours are 11 to 7 and 10 to 5; they are a specialty deli catering to a brunch/lunch crowd, so to the guy who gave them one star for their hours without ever even going, thats messed up dude.

Kimâ??s Diner – Menu with Prices – 2007 Memorial Pkwy NW C, Huntsville

Burger was good. Unfortunately while watching my burger being cooked, I noticed many things very wrong with an old Asian woman that was cooking who I am assuming is “KIM”. One, she was not wearing gloves and touching peoples food while making plates and talking on her cell phone which she probably uses in the bathroom. Two, she grab a handful of bacon which a few slices fell to the floor which Kim picked up and put on a customers salad. Three, she used her bare hands to grab a handful of Spaghetti noodles and put on a plate for a guest. Thankful she used the proper utensil to grab the sauce. Again the Burger was one of the best I have had in a long time. The older gentleman made my food and was wearing gloves and used the proper kitchen tools to make my food. Only reason why I ate my burger. So… Guest beware of what you order or at least watch how they are making your food.

Preeti’s Pitt LLC – Menu with Prices – 2701 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh

We stopped in to Preeti’s PiTT tonight after talking with a friend who had just been there and suggested it. First off, Yelp has dropped the ball on this one. I searched and found the misspelled business with only 2 reviews. I don’t know how that’s possible, I think it’s just been hard to find? Let me tell you about our first, and definitely not last, experience… First off, their kitchen is open until 12am on a Wednesday. If you live near the city and have tried to find food after 9pm during the week, you’ll appreciate that statement. Second, the entire staff is super friendly and helpful. We had a couple of drinks while we waited for our order to-go and had a great time talking with the bar tender, Danielle. Third, THE FOOD! We ordered a dozen Ranch Dry Dusted wings, a Rodeo burger, and Mac & Cheese. Oh, my. The wings were perfect. I’m talking crispy, crunchy, perfection. A side of the house sauce somehow brought them up another level. A+. The Rodeo burger had thin, crispy bacon and a BBQ sauce with a good bit of sweetness. We went for the banana peppers which balanced it out with some sour. Fan-f*ing-tastic. Fries were great, very fresh… and the Mac & Cheese… that was made with some love. Everything I wanted from mac & cheese and more. I’m impressed and can’t believe it’s taken us 6 months to find them.
