The owner is so kind and courteous, that’s what made the largest lasting impression. The meat and just entire size of these sandwiches is CRAZY generous. I usually would have 2 bahn mis, here I j just need the one. The owner PACKS it with meat — like I’ve never seen that much meat in a bahn mi, but oh my God it works. The bread sings at this place. It’s golden, crunchy, flaky, just perfect. This was all so good that I honestly don’t think I properly chewed my food, and I definitely didn’t have time to take a picture. I really regret not taking a picture for y’all because it was truly masterfully beautiful. The beef bahn mi wasn’t as good as the chicken, in my opinion, but my husband had the exact opposite opinion — so just go ahead and get both. You get an unbelievably great meal, for an unbelievable price, with unbelievably generous portions. Go, eat, and be nice to the kind older man that owns this place. Some places you can just tell people put their heart into.

Southeast Street Food – Fusion Eatery – Menu with Prices – 101 5th St E Suite 296, St Paul

A nice and new option in the skyway of Downtown St. Paul! I was super excited to see this place opening in the skyway. Plenty of options to choose from. My favorite being the bahn mi sandwiches. I’ve had all of the bahn mi’s and my two favorites are the BBQ pork and grilled beef. The only thing I would change on the bahn mi is pickle the vegetables more as that flavor does not come out. The spring rolls and rice bowls are also delicious. One hidden gem in this place is the baguette with condensed milk. Perfect amount of crispness and sweetness to satisfy you. Beyond the food, the staff here is super friendly. Would highly recommend this place if you are looking for something new to try.

Lao Restaurant and Bar – Menu with Prices – 219-A S Elm St, Greensboro

This is our second time dining at Lao’s. I ordered the papaya salad combo with chicken wings. It was delicious. The papaya salad was quite spicy even though I requested for it to be mild. But the chicken (without being dipped in the sweet and sour sauce) is a good pair to balance the spiciness. My husband ordered the Kua Prabang, which he said he liked compared to the one he ordered when we first dined in (which was too spicy for his palette). The sticky mango rice is $8 with, in my opinion, not a generous amount of mangoes given the price. However, over all I liked it because it’s not that sweet. Over all, the taste is good, the price point is just on the higher scale that I won’t consider it a regular go to restaurant. In terms of service, we dined in on a lazy Sunday late afternoon and the place was not that full so we had, in my opinion, energetic but overbearing servers that kind of followed up what feels like every minute which is less to my liking when I just want to have a quiet early dinner with my husband. They were also expecting us to kinda know what to order when we first sat down which was kinda like, “wait, hold your horses” for me. But anyway, overall, the food is good.

Y’alls Barbecue and Produce – Menu with Prices – 1515 County Rd 24, Tyler

Whaaaat’s up, Yelp? It’s been a bit since my last review, and Yall’s is worthy of one. Yall’s is definitely off the beaten path. It’s a small, unassuming place, for sure. If you’re uptight, or afraid to try BBQ not made by Dickey’s or another chain, you’re gonna miss out. It’s quaint, and small. Inside you’re gonna find a couple folks that take great pride in their work. You’re gonna find delicious meats, HOT when they slice it. You’ll find homemade sides, and extremely generous portions. Barbecue itself is expensive. With that in mind, Yall’s is still extremely reasonable. A side note, they offer a FIFTY PERCENT first responder discount. For such a small business to offer such a massive discount, should be highly respected. Lastly, all of the desserts are homemade by one of the owners, and she cooks up some DELISH cookies, brownies, and cakes. If you’re ever on the east side of Tyler, or anywhere around 31 East out of town… Go. Get. Some. Yalls.

Augie’s Montreal Smoke Meat Menu with Prices 875 Potter St, Berkeley

I’ve been here a few times now with my husband. The ambience and food have been great every time. Service is always with a smile and they are patient with me, especially when I can’t make up my mind what to order. Classic poutine. It is very filling and the curds are ever so squeaky as you chew. The small size is perfect for two to share. If you have a heartier appetite, order the smoked meat poutine. Sandwiches. We’ve only ordered the L’Original and CJ’s smoked meat reuben. Both were delicious with a generous portion of sliced meat. Comes with a small cup of tangy, coleslaw and a pickle spear. Another time I ordered a bowl of chicken matzo ball soup. The matzo ball was like an island in the middle of my bowl with bits of chicken and veggies. Quite tasty, but with a (shared) sandwich and small classic poutine, I ended up not finishing it all. For St. Paddy’s Day we came in for a special menu item of corned beef and cabbage. Really, really good and generous portions. Thick slices of corned beef on a bed of cabbage and boiled potatoes called to my Irish heart. The difference between having corned beef dinner at Augie’s vs. home is that I ate a reasonable portion. At home I would have eaten too much! The menu is pretty meat-centric and there are a few vegetarian options. Not sure about vegan, though, except for a salad, coleslaw and pickles. Per my husband, they have a good selection of beer on tap and bottled, while I opt for iced tea. It’s a great place to hang with friends, share a bite and a few brews. There are three screens on the wall if you want to watch hockey or whatever sport is playing.

Pho ChopstiX – Menu with Prices – 1829 N Mason Rd, Katy

One thing I have to say about this place is that I ordered online through GrubHub and got there a little earlier.. notified them I was there and only waiting for a shredded chicken Bahn Mi with a lemonade. A guy came in and ordered the same thing (I saw him order the samdwich) and he got his before I did. Took over 20 minutes from the time i came in to the time i left. Pretty annoyed… the guy who came in and ordered got his sandwich within less than 10 minutes of when he came in. Is this how it works? The Bahn Mi was not the greatest but liked the fresh lemonade. What saved the overall experience was how sweet the manager/owner was to bring the order out to me because I was outside waiting with my dog in the car. Great save and thank you!

Min’s Dumpling House – Menu with Prices – 1297 E Ontario Ave, Corona

I’m leaving my original review down below because I still think it applies. Today I decided to order a pick up order of the dumplings. I am adding another star because I do genuinely really like the chicken dumplings. My opinion on the fact that the only thing you should order from this place is the dumplings stands. I will only come to this location if I’m really craving dumplings (like i was today). But other than that, please refer to my previous opinion on this place below. The first time i tried this place, was when my family brought me a pick up order of their chicken dumplings. I liked them enough to dine in today with my boyfriend. We decided to get the chicken dumplings and pork dumplings. We also decided to mix it up and get some non dumpling entrees… this is where we made our mistake. We got this beef wrap thing because the picture looked good and let me tel you, they STUFF that with cilantro and the beef ratio is outweighed by the other items. We also ordered the kung pao chicken. Again, the meat was outweighed by other items. I’m literally only giving this two starts because the dumplings. The only reason I’d go back is for the dumplings. Disappointed and I wanted a refund but i didn’t wanna be mean to the really nice employees. Edit: I didn’t post this edit the same day because I thought I would be a little harsh if I did. But after posting the review, both me and my boyfriend were having the worst stomach problems. Not to be TMI, but we got food poising just to say the least. Because of this, i don’t see myself coming back to this place.

Gia Dinh Pho and Vietnamese Cuisine Menu with Prices Suite #A1, 549 W International Airport Rd, Anchorage

Stopped by on my way from the airport to the hotel around 6pm on a Tuesday. Right on Airport Rd so it’s easy to get to. It faces the road in a set of identical strip mall like buildings, so I passed it but the parking lots adjoin so was able to easily drive back to it through the parking lot. Very helpful hostess took my to go order for a bahn mi grilled pork. I was able to add jalapeños which I love. I bought a soda and she provided me a to go cup with a lid and straw that fit it perfectly – much easier than an open can in the car. I did hear a microwave go off, so hopefully just reheating the meat. Bahn mi are sometimes small so I asked if they were 6 inch as they usually are but was told they are closer to 12 inches. Chairs are comfortable and the space is nicely decorated and very clean with music in the background. Service was friendly and prompt, my sandwich was ready in about 5 mins. They included a fork and napkin in my to go pack. The sandwich came with a salad of greens, carrots and cucumbers with some cilantro and a nice mild dressing. I asked for jalapeños but there were none on the sandwich, a disappointment. I took off 1 star for that, would have been 4. The sandwich otherwise was great – nice French roll, carrots , cilantro and daikon. The meat was some of most tasty grilled pork I’ve had – crunchy bits mixed with a sweet tang. The portion was generous with lots of meat and the sandwich was about 10 inches, so with the salad I didn’t feel like I needed two of them. It is disappointing that they use styrofoam for the salad and plastic straws, I hope they switch to more environmentally friendly items. I’d go back for another bahn mi, and I would check it before I left to make sure the jalapeños were on it!

GO!! GO!! Teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 10430 19th Ave SE Suite 3, Everett

After a weekend of cold weather camping, we were headed home in the late afternoon and both my husband and I were craving teriyaki. We’d tried a lot of teriyaki in the area that was mediocre, so when I saw Go! Go! on the search results, we decided to order ahead. It’s important to note that this restaurant has been renamed and under new ownership and has much better reviews that the old one! My husband ordered his favorite, chicken katsu, and I ordered the beef & chicken teriyaki combo. When we arrived, there were a few patrons in the restaurant. The person working the front (I think may have been the owner) was very efficient and friendly while handling the phone and walk in customers. I noticed how lovely & simple the interior decor was. Very inviting. When it was our turn in line the owner warmly greeted us. I really appreciated the fact that he took the time to ask where we heard of Go! Go! And thanking us for choosing them. (I’m one of those people that really prefers to go to stores and cafes where the owners genuinely appreciate the business and make the experience great.) The food had just been made and smelled delicious – but we were taking it home to eat. The katsu was so perfectly crispy with an out of this world katsu sauce. My husband said it it was better than his favorite katsu he’d had elsewhere – and trust me, that’s a high compliment because my husband is *very* hard to please. My chicken/beef teriyaki combo was bomb; the beef was thin and tender, having been tossed in a heavenly teriyaki sauce that was perfectly seasoned and not too sweet. The chicken teriyaki was very tender and juicy, and being thigh meat something I don’t typically enjoy, I was pleasantly surprised. They loaded up the dish with lots of sticky white rice. In addition, a crisp, fresh side salad with a sweet, creamy dressing was included, as well as a free can of pop. The dinner was a little pricier than average (than other places we’ve eaten for teriyaki), but you get what you pay for here in addition to great, friendly service. We will definitely be back!

Nom Nom Tea & Bites – Menu with Prices – 1500 Pleasant Hill Rd #106, Duluth

I am utterly disappointed in the experience and food here. As well as everyone who’s ever eaten here and given them all 5 stars, shame on you. We paid $18 for a pitiful midnight snack. First, they brought the Bahn Mi sandwich out in a Togo container which was basically prepared for us to make ourselves instead of them making it for us?! The meat was bland and the lack of vegetables was so frustrating. Then the popcorn chicken came out as little baby strips that had more batter than chicken. It was dry and tough baby chicken shreds tossed in some batter and fried. The mangonada was not to die for and tasted weird as did the kiwi slushy. The only thing that was acceptable to eat was the kiwi popping bubble topping. I will not be wasting my money here again, but instead taking my good money over to quicklys.

Boing drive-thru – Menu with Prices – 754 J Clyde Morris Blvd, Newport News

So I’m from Suffolk and I work in Newport News so I’m not too familiar with places to eat around here that are casual. So I drive by and I see Boing and I go hmmm let’s see what they have to eat. So I pull up and decide I’ll go to the walk up window since it’s a pretty nice day outside. I walk up and I am greeted by a full smiled worker who seems to actually enjoy her job. I place my order(taking off the peppers and onions because I’m picky) and normally when you make “orders complicated” they give you this weird look and she was the complete opposite she smiled and said “I do the same thing”. So I take my receipt and go grab a seat at the concrete benches they have set up. Food took about 5 minutes to get to me which isn’t a bad thing cause it usually means the food is being made cook to order(no cold soggy fries). I get my food from the lady at the window and get back to work. So I eat my fries(sorry for no picture) and they were delicious! Perfectly salted. Could do with a little more crunch, but can’t complain. The sandwhich on the other hand is amazing! Usually when you eat a cheesesteak without the peppers and onions they’re bland and this is the opposite. It’s packed with meat from end to end and that’s rare as well. Overall I’ll give them a 4/5 only because the lids they have for their drinks don’t seem to fit right and when I went to put it into my cup holder it spilled. (No I wasn’t carrying it by the lid) lol. I’d recommend it!

Mandarin Chinese & Japanese Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 2618 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica

This place is shockingly bad. Me and a co-worker ordered two lunch specials and a Chinese chicken salad. We got Mongolian beef and garlic chicken. Both were extremely flavorless and seemingly cooked without any sort of sauce. I mentioned this because on the bottom of each of our containers was a pool of smelly water. It was gross. My beef was stringy and so was the chicken, of which they don’t give you very much in the first place. There were also very few vegetables from what each dish had advertised. Chinese chicken salad was not a Chinese chicken salad, it was lettuce, chicken, and Chinese dressing. No wontons, nothing but massive amounts of lettuce, a few tomatoes and a small portion of chicken. I should have taken a picture of the food before we ate it, but I managed to get a picture of the Chinese chicken salad. I used to think it was probably pretty difficult to mess up Chinese food, but this place did it in Grand Style.

Saigon Noodle House – Menu with Prices – 27523 Jefferson Ave, Temecula

We got there around 10:45am and not a single person was dining there. The only person that walked through that door the entire time we were there was a lady picking up her take out. The atmosphere there was cold. There were some decor on the walls but not enough to take away the coldness. We like to order our food in Vietnamese, hence neither I nor my husband speak Vietnamese. We just pronounce the food item in Vietnamese. My pronunciation of the names of the food must be good that even the wife in the back came out to see. She started saying something in Vietnamese but I stopped her by saying I don’t know in Vietnamese. Anyway, enough about me. Their egg rolls that cost $5.75 were good, tastier and less expensive than Pho Ha #1. However, their fish sauce was plain. They accommodated us by making chicken spring rolls that was nicely wrapped compared to Pho Ha in which they were loosely wrapped. The chicken spring rolls were also $5.75. They also accommodated my husband by making a coffee without condensed milk but with just milk since they didn’t have any half and half. I ordered the vermicelli noodles with grilled pork and egg rolls. It was yummy but the fish sauce was so bland that I had to ask for another bowl. Still, it didn’t make that much of a difference. My husband ordered a beef bahn mi, beef sandwich. And he said that Bamboo Express inside 88 Ranch Market was better. They were skimpy on the meat and the jalapeño slices were thickly sliced. They didn’t bring us water until the wife came with a pitcher. Then she realized we didn’t have any water cups so she brought us two water cups with lemon in them. My husband took a sip and said “tap water” then refused to drink it. I didn’t even bother. The slice of lemon is to take the bad taste away. I think most places give you tap water, probably not as bad or just as bad. Oh! McDonald’s on Mission Trail in Lake Elsinore has filtered water. Okay, I am derailing here. We probably won’t go back. I asked my husband if he’s disappointed and he said not disappointed just not excited. Yeah, just not excited for us to return.
