Upon walking up to the trailer, we were greeted by the most friendly woman. She was SO helpful when we were trying to figure out what to order. It was a tough choice since everything on the menu looked so dang good. Once we had landed on ordering two burritos – one with chicken and one with pork, both smothered with a red sauce and poblano cream sauce combo – she ensured we were satisfied by asking us if we wanted various salsas on top. It was one of the best experiences I’ve had as far as service. When we got home to eat our food, I had already decided I liked this place. But, you guys. When I opened my take out box, the smell was AMAZING. You know those times when you wish you had smell-o-vision just so you could fully express how great something smells? This was one of those times. So then… I took the first bite. OMG. I’m not exaggerating – it was so freaking good. The pork was perfectly cooked. The flavors were fantastic. The bean to rice to meat to cheese ratio was on point. Just outstanding. I cannot wait to try other items on the menu in the very near future. HIGHLY recommend. This place is a real gem!

Los Ranchos Latinos – Menu with Prices – 6200 Buford Hwy, Duluth

Hidden gem in Norcross that proves you can’t judge a book by its cover! (Caution: False advertisement in Menu pricing!!!) I am writing this review in real time, which should help you understand the experience as I am doing so. Immediately greeted by the smell of a bathroom, which I hope just means they are or just finished cleaning them. It is mid December and they have a very small heater in here, so I am cold and half of the lights are out, so I can’t see my chips. I’m a little worried about getting anything to drink, so I ordered a bottled water while we enjoy the chips. The salsa tastes store bought, but she just brought some green sauce out, so let’s see how that tastes… It tastes very fresh as it hits the taste buds and is shortly followed with a spicy kick. My coworker who I am having lunch with today, got tea in what seems to be a 72 ounce cup that he says “tastes like Lipton.” Now I will continue eating chips as I wait for my cheese quesadilla and two tacos… The food just came (about 10 minutes from the time of order) and unfortunately, I still smell the bathrooms which could affect the experience. The smell of a previous customers looming stool fills my nose, but I will endure for you. It looks and smells good (the food) and I am going to start… The cheese quesadilla was not good. I won’t sugar coat that. Very plain and flat. Not much flavor other than a grilled tortilla. The tacos on the other hand were great! Paired with the green sauce I’ll give them two thumbs up. Great flavor and a good kick with the sauce. All in all this was a pretty god experience and I will be back for these tacos, but if it smells again, I’ll order it to go.

Bagelicious – Menu with Prices – 1255 Johnson Ferry Rd, Marietta

Upon entering the building with my girlfriend, the smell of the store smells like a dead fish with inattentive employees that stared at us for 5 minutes before taking our order. We ordered a drink and a bagel and the employee told me to help myself to the drink while they made my girlfriends bagel. Upon pulling out my credit card and making it obvious that i was going to pay with card, I opened my drink and took a sip. After taking a sip, the employee said to me “we don’t take plastic” and told us that we had to pay for the already opened drink and bagel with cash. Upon realizing we had no cash, they referred us to a sketchy atm in the back. Keep in mind there is NO sign ANYWHERE saying cash only. The atm has a 3 dollar fee that is unavoidable. So, we decided to not pay an extra 3 dollars into this literal scam and we decided to leave. The employees attempted to chase us out of the restaurant saying i had already opened the drink to which my girlfriend replied “you guys didn’t disclose that they only accept cash” to which the employee reacted negatively with irritation. Then, the owner of the store followed us out of the store threatening us with her phone attempting to get our tag and report us when they were literally trying to SCAM us out of 3 dollars to avoid a card fee. Extremely unprofessional restaurant, will never go there ever again. Employees we’re seemingly threatening and all seem to be in on tricking customers into spending an extra 3 dollars on every atm transaction. Never again.

Lil Zeus Food Truck – Menu with Prices – 112 W 50th St, New York

I don’t understand all the hype behind Halal Guys when you have a far superior product with Lil Zeus. I probably get food here at least twice a week and have fully abandoned Halal Guys. First off, Halal Guys white sauce is laced with so much mayo its not even anything close to resembling a tzatziki…2nd, Halal Guys hot sauce is so bloody hot you can’t taste what you are eating. Finally Halal Guys shreds the meat to such granular pieces, its like you’re eating dog food. at Lil Zeus you have none of those problems. The lamb meat is the typical donair kebab type (sausage/semi processed style) while their chicken is legit, cooked souvlaki style. The guys running this truck are friendly guys and they work hard to keep the line moving. Why didn’t i give it a full 5 stars? well the salad isn’t entirely greek as they used shredded iceberg lettuce as a primary filler instead of the green peppers, red onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, big blocks of feta + olives and oregano you see with regular Greek salads. Overall, the pricing is very fair for the portion size and its pretty delicious. Most importantly, this place puts Halal Guys to shame. Seriously…how can you squirt mayo all over meat that’s been pulverized into pebble like pieces?

Manhattan Pizza & Subs – Menu with Prices – 5224 N 7th St, Phoenix

Man I hate giving Mom and Pop places low reviews but it is what it is I guess first off what kind of pizza place opens at 12 kind of weird time to open considering lunch usually starts about 10 to 11 but that’s their times know when you walk into place very slow no one is there little dirty so go to the counter and ask if you guys have slices she told me maybe not sure what the hell what do you mean you don’t know you’re not sure so she came back and said yes she has cheese so I got two slices of cheese she brings out looks pretty good pick it up pizzas hot but soggy it was cooked all the way through but not sure what was going on first bite tasted kind of odd cheese was okay not much flavor in the sauce little Bland get to the crust that’s what I figured out what a remind me of a biscuit kind of taste like Pillsbury biscuit actually not really Pizza flavor get to the second slice it’s fully cool down now I have to say very few times in my life I cannot finish to slice of pizza but this is one of those times cheese tasted really bad had a plastic flavor and the cheese wasn’t melted any longer and all clumped together no good at all now for the service I’m not sure if it’s there rude or at a language barrier because they don’t speak English very well which is fine but everyone has a sour look on their face will not ever go back here again I would have weighed this place

Ike’s Sandwiches – Menu with Prices – 3071 E Campus Pointe Dr, Fresno

I recently have been going to the Palmdon location near Herndon but this location has opened and is way closer to me since it is by Fresno State. I went on their Grand Opening day which was a few days ago. I ordered a sandwich that I always get which was called (vegetarian) Handsome Owl. My ultimate favorite sandwich! I was excited to eat especially because I was starving after work. All the workers seemed like they got out of jail which was kind of creepy to me but their customer service was good and I liked it. While I was waiting for my sandwich I overheard the cooks and the cashiers talking about how to make my boyfriends sandwich and also my sandwich which I thought was a little funny to hear. I ignored it because maybe they’re new you know? Anyway… I got my sandwich and first thing I noticed was a small hair on top of the wrapper literally in the middle of my sandwich and I ignored it as well because hey at least it wasn’t in my sandwich. I took a bite of my sandwich and it tasted plain and felt like something was missing so I opened up my sandwich and saw that the teriyaki sauce wasn’t in there when it says on the menu that there should be teriyaki sauce and wasabi mayo. I just tasted the wasabi mayo alone (ew!) so I asked my boyfriend to go ask for a side of teriyaki sauce and so they gave it to him and I was happy afterwards. As I finished up my sandwich, I was in the mood for the lollipop that should’ve been in my bag with some napkins. Well, there was no lollipop but my boyfriend had one so I took his. Just last night my boyfriend and I wanted a Handsome Owl sandwich and so he ordered one and came back and it had no teriyaki sauce again or lollLike come on guys, it says in the description that there’s teriyaki sauce included. At this point I’m just going to continue going to the Palmdon location where they serve us good. UPDATE: after 2 months of this review, I’ve gone a couple more times and the staff got even more friendlier and I have not seen the same faces since my last review. Looks like there’s new people who are much more nicer and welcoming than before. I get greeted every time I come in to grab a quick bite. The blonde cashier is always in a good mood I wish I knew her name! Whenever I get my food I’m asked if I want a lollipop. Right on!

Don Juan Cafe Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 102 Grand Ave, Syracuse

Eat here now at least once a week, usually with co-workers, we all love to go. We never dine in, we always take to go, not much of an atmosphere but clean and I do often see people eating in. The food is great and the prices amazing. I can get lunch for me for $10 and I can eat off of it for 2 days. Brought home left overs the first time I went there and my husband was drawn to the smell, I hadn’t even taken out of the bag yet, and he was like ‘what smells so good!’ . I think of it as good home cooked, almost comfort food. The guys working behind the counter now know us and are usually very friendly and makes for a good experience. They are patient to explain to us what the different things are and to make recommendations. You know the food is good when you show up and the line is LONG to order. But it is worth the wait, and the line moves quick.

Beef’s Express – Menu with Prices – 1614 Town Center Dr, Lakeland

This New Year is all about firsts and my first Buffalo Chicken Wrap – ever – at Beef’s Express was EVERYTHING. One bite, y’all. And I was HOOKED! Co-workers of mine were first thinking tacos, but at the last minute someone said “What about Beef’s Express?” Thank goodness! Two of us went in for the wraps with Ranch dressing and another had the Buffalo Chicken over salad. Have you ever seen a bed of lettuce with hot buffalo chicken on TOP of it? You should because it was…well, it was just SEXY! Don’t be fooled by the term “Express” – this restaurant is large, bright, and the idea location for lunch, a beer before (or during) the game, date night, you name it. Our servers delivered our meals quickly and, to my eye, the dining area was spotless. God, I cannot wait to go back. That’s a wrap!

Okazya Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 1811 W Commonwealth Ave l, Fullerton

If you’re “Yelp’ing”… STOP! Don’t go here if… #1. You don’t like great service. #2. You you think Panda Express is real Chinese food. Ok, ok, ok… Totally kidding about #2 ? Even if you think Panda Express is real Chinese food, you should go here. ? Why? I went there for the first time last Saturday because my mom said – let’s go to this place. I hobble into the place with my crutches because I tore my Achilles few days before this. I’m greeted with a smile! Then I had an opportunity to talk with the owner. Come to find out, they’re Japanese! I’m Japanese and we know the same people! Small world. Then I found out, how long they have been in business. Wow! Wonderful people. So, I pick up the menu and start ordering. My feed back? Here’s my one sentence that explains this place… “Totally a hidden gem.” That’s the only way to explain it, is… go there. Try it out. Totally a hidden gem and you won’t know how good anything is – until you go there.

Asian Family Market Menu with Prices 14515 NE 20th St, Bellevue

To start, I want to point out that my three stars means “A-OK.” It’s OK, and necessary for some products we buy, but doesn’t quite rate four stars (“Yay! I’m a fan.”) Second point, I’m not an expert on Asian groceries. The most frequent reason we come here is for fresh rice noodles. I don’t think I’ve seen them anywhere except Asian grocery stores, and this one is the most convenient for us. They have _lots_ of kinds of fresh noodles; I’d guess 60 or more. I’d guess that their selection of fresh rice noodles alone exceeds the selection of all kinds of fresh pasta at a regular grocery store. It was bewildering the first time we were here. We have a friend who has celiac, which means she goes to the hospital if she accidentally eats wheat. So when we were having her over for a Thai recipe we had to find some no-gluten soy sauce. (Most kinds include wheat, not just soy.) This store has half an aisle of different kinds of soy sauce! It’s like breakfast cereal at a Western grocery store. I read a _lot_ of labels, and eventually found something that would be safe for our friend. Another thing I like about the store is seeing the live seafood in the back. The last time I cooked fish that I had seen alive was when I was a kid, but I still like to see fish so fresh that it’s still swimming. The store has looked really clean every time I’ve been there. There are lots of different smells here – produce, spices, subtle grain smells, and back by those live fish, seafood smells. But I’ve never noticed any smells that didn’t smell fresh. Even in the fish section. So far, that’s the makings of a four or five star review. The place where the store falls short is customer service. For example, I looked through the whole store, twice, and didn’t find a particular type of sauce, so I asked an employee. He didn’t speak enough English to understand the question. (On the other hand, my Mandarin is much worse, so it’s not an entirely fair complaint in an Asian grocery store.) I tried another employee, and although her English was fine, she didn’t want to be bothered. Finally, I asked a third employee. He spoke very little English, but managed to say, “Fred Meyer” clearly enough that I understood him with the help of his gesture in that general direction. (Oops! All that searching, and it’s a Western brand, not the Thai original.) Praise to that guy who knew it wasn’t something they stocked. The store isn’t typical in dealing with credit cards. On one visit, they didn’t take American Express at all. (Too bad, since I get extra cash back with it on groceries.) Another time, no problem. On my most recent visit, they said no credit cards on purchases under $5 (and those delicious rice noodles are really inexpensive), but at least my debit card was OK. A sign with the rules would help. Speaking of signs, some of theirs were obviously written by second language English people. Having studied just a little Mandarin, I can even see why they wrote the signs the way they did.

Mediterranean Mixta – Menu with Prices – 1110 Elliott Ave W, Seattle

This was a wonderful find on the way home from work tonight! I had the Spanish Mixta. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and still had some bite, which let the quality and freshness of the produce shine through. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, sliced thin but still juicy and the slightest amount of heat. I could smell the saffron on the rice as I opened the lid of the takeout box. Everything was perfectly salted. My husband reported similar accolades of the balsamic steak dish, which I was only able to snag one bite of. Both meals came with different sauces, which complemented the individual dishes. Mine was a perfectly tangy but still mellow yogurt/aioli type sauce. The steak came with a balsamic reduction. The servings weren’t giant, but they filled us up and it felt like we were eating something nourishing and healthy. I hope they stick around!

Rumbi Island Grill – Menu with Prices – 5942 E Longbow Pkwy Suite 101, Mesa

So this is a little bit of a mixed review (and a little long) but Iâ??m going to give 5 stars because I think what happened is more and more rare in todayâ??s world. Weâ??ve been a couple of times and generally the food is pretty good, although a little pricey comparatively, and service is usually prompt. We got the burger once and for not being a burger place I was quite impressed with its quality (as well as the fries). So we placed an online order which was promptly ready at the specified time. The order was put together in the bag a little awkwardly (something I didnâ??t fully realize until after I made the 2 minute drive home) with one of the smaller entrees stacked in between to larger bowls so when set down became unstable and fell over, and somehow popping open an extra sauce we bought and got all over the bowls. Now this I just chocked up as my own loss since I didnâ??t care to secure the sauce, but as we opened the other entrees, something just seemed off with the order. One of the sauces in an entree bowl was barely full and the lid had been melted so it wasnâ??t even securely closed and may have been the issue with the other sauce that got everywhere. I also opened the burger it was extremely thin sliced compared to the last one we got, and extremely dry as well as the bun, which I donâ??t remember being oversized compared to the burger before. I ended up calling the restaurant because all these issues combined to be a pretty negative experience and let them know I wanted to issue a complaint. They were very quick to be helpful in addressing each issue and didnâ??t get defensive but were understanding to the feeling I had in desiring to express concern with the end result of what I just purchased. Without me even asking, they decided to go above and beyond in rectifying the issue at hand and I was very satisfied in the service and how they were solely focused on customer satisfaction vs justifying their mistake. So often companies try to make themselves look better and defend rather than just admitting wrong and trying to be better and the consumer ends up feeling like they lose twice. We all make mistakes and to expect to have a flawless experience every time and everywhere is just unreal, but the way they decided to handle it is the reason weâ??ll go back and the reason I give them 5 stars.
