We went here as my step daughter wanted a gluten free option and the place had great reviews on trip advisor! We were frankly unimpressed and left with queasy stomachs and a disproportionately high price! We left scratching our heads about the unrealistically high reviews. I had a spicy Italian sausage with the kitchen sink in terms of trimmings, my wife had a more upscale and more expensive sausage with less spicy trimmings, the kids had macaroni and cheese, my step daughter had the banger and mash and we had the Gorgonzola and bacon fries. My brat was overdone but tasteless and certainly not spicy and was further killed by an overdosage of jalapeños. We also got a plain order of fries for the kids. My wifeâ??s frank was unimpressive. The Mac and cheese was okay and the size appropriate. The ordinary French fries were tasteless and unsalted. I was really looking forward to the Gorgonzola and bacon fries as one review had called them to die for as I love fries, Gorgonzola and bacon, so I figured whatâ??s not to like! Unfortunately, the answer was these fries! I have had Gorgonzola fries at Henryâ??s in Portland and they were excellent! These were not. They simply threw them on a large pan and fried them or warmed them up and then sprinkled Gorgonzola cheese and bacon on them and did not melt them into or onto the fries. The only salt on the fries came from the cheese and the fries were lackluster at best. The ordinary fries actually tasted better though not much! The banger and mash was the best item of the batch and it might have been good enough to be called ordinary. The best item on the menu was the cider of which they had one choice but it was a good fruity one and as it was happy hour it was only 3.50$. The bangers were $7.95 and $9.95 and the bangers and mash, which was one banger and mashed potatoes was $10.95. The fries with Gorgonzola and bacon had tasted greasy and unappetizing but we took most of them home with the thought that if we warmed them up and melted the ingredients together they might taste better later. Alas, that was not the case as they still tasted greasy but even more unappetizing the second time around. Part of the banger and mash went home also where it was consumed by the gluten free person. Truly, Arnour or Oscar Meyer hot dogs would have been better and Johnsonville brats in the cheese or jalapeño and cheese varieties or their hot brats would have been much better. They have a punch or stamp card available where if you get 10 bangers purchased you get the 11th free so you may want to join if you are masochistic enough. Despite having four stamps we will not be qualifying for a free one as we will never return! Sadly, a nice outdoor area with picnic tables awaits if the weather is good, as it was!

Bangers & Brews Eugene – Menu with Prices – 2506 Willakenzie Rd, Eugene

Debated between 4 and 5 stars so I will round up. In the former Ron’s island grill behind market of choice. Revamped with a open garage door and picnic style seating. Bacon gorgonzola fries…get them….huge portion, good sauce to round them off…large fed 4 people and still had some left. Dawg…good flavor and toast on the bun, fun creations and good ideas on the back…. cream cheese, sweet peppers and chimi was pretty legit on top of my rabbit sausage! Beer, for a place called bangers and brews the tap felt a touch short with 7 or 8. Bread with chimichurri, sauce was good. Bread felt a little weak and something I buy at walmart for 89 cents. Staff was super friendly, and the little sayings of “we appreciate you for coming in” are always inviting. Happy hour is terribly advertised…can you add these prices on a happy hour menu? Go before 6 and everything is 1 to 2 dollars off.

Jimmy Mac’s Marietta – Menu with Prices – 3205 Canton Rd # 104-106, Marietta

Stopped in for lunch. The place wasn’t crowded. Several TVs tuned into different channels. No loud music, for me a plus. A very pleasant server approached the table and took our drink orders. When she returned with the drinks she told us the special. Prime Rib with two sides. Sounded good but I had my heart set on the Bangers and mash. We were told they were out. So we went with the prime rib with a side salad and onion rings. A very generous side of very nice and perfectly cooked onion rings accompanied the prime rib which was cooked rare as I requested. Tender and juicy. the side salad was also very good. a very pleasant experience, for an unbeatable price. Will definitely return in hopes of having the Bangers and mash.

Merlins Rest Pub – Menu with Prices – 3601 E Lake St, Minneapolis

Got here about 6:45 on a Saturday evening. Place was recommended by a coworker whose husband is from Scotland so we thought we should check it out. Nice corner location with street parking. They do reservations but not same day, good to know though. There were four of us. We all had a black and tan, which were phenominal. We thought we should try some appetizers and had the fries with gravy and stilton, sausage wrapped in puff pastry(?) and the potato croquettes. All were very good. They like their sage here so if you are not a fan of sage, read the menua carefully! I had the Steak and Yorkshire pudding. Steak was cut into small pieces with gravy on it, some fresh cooked carrots, cauliflower and broccoli, mashed potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding. I don’t know what real Yorkshire pudding is like, I was under the assumption it was sort of like a popover. This looked like that but was more bready than eggy, but still delicious. This plate of food was so big it made three meals for me (maybe if I skipped the aps I could have eaten half of it, but the aps are too good to pass up.). One person had the bangers and mash and said it was delicious. Bangers are more of a really finely ground sausage, it’s a texture thing. The guys had the fish and chips. While they said the fish and chips were really good, Anchor in NE is better. For that reason alone I gave it the four stars. The service was fabulous, the place was clean, had that sort of old school vibe to it. Almost always has live music at night, and I hear it is corsets and kilts on Friday nights, may have to check that out some day! Overall great place to take in some good food, live music and enjoy your company.

House of Meats – Menu with Prices – 3821 W Alexis Rd, Toledo

I LOVE House of Meats. It’s nice to have a place with a larrrrrge variety of things, and decent pricing. They have a lot of ready-prepped foods to make it more convenient to pick up dinner, go home, and cook. I really like their taco brats and their chili cheese brats. Note, the taco brats have corn in them (not bits of corn, they’re made with corn tortilla chips), in case you eat low carb and/or grain-free. They have marinated steaks and chicken. They have preloaded shish kabobs. They have burger patties with cheese and whatever else. They have stuffed chicken breasts. They have meatloafs, stuffed peppers. SO many things. They have a small deli section, and they have a freezer with pre-made convenience foods. I think the only negative comment I can think of is that I wish they had an option for meatloafs and other stuffed-stuff that didn’t use breadcrumbs, low carb options, but it’s pretty normal to use bread as a binder, so.

Donovan’s Irish Pub – Menu with Prices – 7440 US-1, St. Augustine

We got lucky to have this right in our neighborhood. If it was an hour a way we would still come here. Yes there’s a bar and yes sometimes there’s music, if that’s your thing, they have it. BUT we have two young ones and we like to find places where loud kids won’t bother Rhône neighbors and have a table off to ourselves. This is perfect for us, music is never too loud, bar is always chill. We have at everything on the menu at this point. We literally cannot find something on the menu we would not give five stars. No ones paying me to say this and I’ve never met the first owner. The nachos are my favorite appetizer anywhere, get the corned beef on top , it’s so tasty, we also get the homemade pub chips instead of the tortillas and they are killer! My favorite so far has to be the Shepard’s pie with beef , served with the sourdough rolls. The baked cheese and bread crumbs on top give this dish an amazing texture. Don’t forget the bangers and mash . The sausage is so tender and juicy and the Guinness gravy with red onions is amazing over the Irish mash. I get this often. My wife loves the Irish pot roast with perfectly cooked veggies and the gravy again, so amazing. They nail the fish and chips, haven’t had it better anywhere. They have a solid steak fry or many other sides or soups. Their sandwiches are perfect, try the buffalo chicken with their blue cheese, it’s so tasty and perfectly breaded and fried. The patty melt is one of my favorite burgers. Last thing I will say is their beer and drink choices are second to none. If you like a Guinness, they always serve it at a perfect temp and pour . Wait staff is always consistent and always attentive. Live music is very good sometimes and they don’t overdue the volume . I would say this place is very kid friendly and I hope they stay in business for a long time. By the way, they do takeout and their food travels well. The only thing I can say is it’s well Worth the money, as some of the prices are a little high for this type of food and the other eateries around, but it’s totally worth it.

Seafood and More Garners Ferry – Menu with Prices – 8006 Garners Ferry Rd Ste C, Columbia

Passing through South Carolina, I used Yelp to find a dinner stop. Based on previous reviews, we selected this spot. First of all, it is a bit of a hike off the highway at about 12 miles from I-20. It is counter service, so ordering was quick. Nice selection of options – chicken, shrimp, crab… cooked in various methods. We tried the spicy garlic shrimp, chicken tenders, corn on the cob, white rice, boiled eggs, steamed broccoli, French fries, boiled potatoes, and sausage. A nice variety of flavors. All was tasty: corn was sweet and cooked well, though my young daughter was unhappy with all the paprika sprinkled on it. Shrimp was a lot of work to peel and eat, but had a good flavor. My husband preferred the sausage, cooked in the same seasoning. Chicken tenders had a thick batter, but the kids enjoyed them. Fries were crispy, but nothing out of the ordinary. The place was constantly busy, and we did wait about half an hour for our food, though smaller orders were placed and received during that time. Bathrooms and dining area were both clean and well decorated. Wouldn’t necessarily drive out of my way to go there again, but it was good.

Chick-fil-A – Menu with Prices – 2525 Countryside Blvd, Clearwater

I had the spicy chicken deluxe sandwich with waffle fries. The sandwich has pepper jack cheese, tomato and lettuce. You can add sauces to it but i wanted to try it the way it’s made. The chicken is Spicer than Wendy’s spicy chicken sandwich and it was a nice change to have pepper jack cheese instead of mayo sauce. The waffle fries were fresh and tasted good. They have a play place for kids inside which surprised me. You don’t see them many places anymore. Overall a nice meal with a very clean eating area. I like the padded bench with my bad back.

Burger Barn – Menu with Prices – 11787 International Dr Suite 118, Orlando

5 stars for delicious burgers, fries, Mac and cheese, and milkshakes! This place is great and I would definitely recommend it BUT I wouldn’t go for a specialty burger. Ok let me explain… so I’ve been to this place twice. First time, I ordered the hangover burger without bacon. I didn’t like it because it has a fried egg that’s cooked all the way through which doesn’t make sense to me. If you’re topping my burger with an egg, I want my yolk to run. Halfway through the burger we noticed there was bacon which sucks since we don’t eat bacon. We called and right away the offered us a replacement but we asked for a normal cheeseburger and the owner delivered it himself to our apartment which was amazing. You don’t see that kind of customer service often. The cheeseburger was AMAZING. The combination of cheese, onions, lettuce, etc was so nice and felt much simpler and tasted much better. Second time we dined in and ordered the southwest burger. This is when I learned to not order their specialty burgers. The guacamole was NOT FRESH. tasted like someone got the pre made guacamole mix. And yet again, the cheeseburger was AMAZING. this is just my opinion and many may disagree but I would really recommend just a good old fashioned cheeseburger. Also their fries and fry seasonings were amazing as well as their milkshakes and customer service. Please check this place out.

Cornish Pasty Co – Menu with Prices – 51 Massachusetts Ave, Boston

A solid 4.5 stars so I’m just rounding up. My first Yelp review so please forgive me if I mess anything up. I’ll also take remember to take pictures for next review and when I update this one. I came in here on a pretty quiet Friday early afternoon, not many people but I was expecting as much. I’ve just started to explore the Boston food scene and found this place along with KO Pies (tried both in the same day, since I heard KO Pies may closing in Dec 2019). And what a winner this was. I will say that I ordered through the Allset app (which gave me $10 off since I referred a friend) so it didn’t cost me as much as it would normally. I ordered the Oggie, oven fries (got for free as a reward for checking in through yelp) and the chocolate bread and butter pudding with crème anglaise. The Oggie was a 3.5/5, simply because in the whole pasty there were maybe 5-6 pieces of beef. Even though the beef was tender, pretty juicy, and flavorful, I was definitely expecting more. However, the crust was amazingly flaky and buttery without being too heavy, some of the best pie crust I’ve ever had. The red wine gravy was really great as well, and the potatoes, rutabaga, and onions were pretty good. The thing is, you can get all three of those (the crust, the gravy, and the vegetables) with other orders that have more meat (I definitely want to try the bangers and mash, or maybe the pilgrim), which is why (relatively speaking), I don’t think the Oggie is the best choice. Even though I didn’t like the Oggie that much, I have very high hopes for some of the other options, which is why the 3.5/5 doesn’t bother me that much. If my feelings change I’ll be sure to update this review. The oven fries were a 3.5/5 as well. Good fries (hot and crispy, could use a bit more salt. That’s what the ketchup is for, I guess), but nothing too amazing. The chocolate bread and butter pudding though? Possibly one of the best desserts I’ve had in my life. If you like rich chocolate desserts, 100% without a doubt get this. The flavor (surprisingly deep due to the bourbon sauce they soak the bread in), the texture (soft on the inside and crispy on the top and bottom), and just everything about it was amazing. And the crème anglaise was beautifully silky, coating my entire mouth with each spoonful. I do wish the pudding was just a bit warmer and the crème anglaise a bit colder just to have even more of a temperature contrast, but you can also get ice cream instead of the crème anglaise. The service was good, around 4/5. My waiter (I didn’t catch his name unfortunately, he was young and had a pony tail) was honestly really friendly, but I was sitting around for 10 minutes with an empty water cup wondering if he would come check up on me. There was no one left in the restaurant at this point so I would’ve liked a bit more attentive service. And of course, the atmosphere was nice, I’d say a solid 5/5. Since I came in during the afternoon there wasn’t much of a pub feel, but it felt very warm and welcoming. I imagine it feels pretty intimate during the busier times as it felt that way already with almost no one there. Now I paid about $24 for my meal, but that was with free oven fries and $10 off the Oggie. Without that, it would’ve cost me about $40. That’s a bit pricey and not something I could regularly afford (just as a college student), but if using Allset, it becomes a more normal luxury rather than a once-a-month kind (I’m not sponsored by Allset, just a disclaimer). I will definitely be coming back here again (with friends most likely) to try out different pasties and desserts (the bangers and mash, pilgrim, toffee pudding, and banoffee pie are next on the list). This one’s a keeper.

Monty’s Good Burger – Menu with Prices – 3605 Market Street, Riverside

EDIT: I was contacted by Bill, the owner, shortly after writing this review. He very kindly explained some of the justifications and reasons behind Monty’s pricing and quickly sent me a refund without me even asking. While my opinions on the food still stand, this is certainly customer service done right. And the high prices make much more sense to me now. ORIGINAL: Disclaimer: though I am not vegan, I do enjoy good vegan food. And I definitely love a good burger. I was really disappointed with my experience at this location. I ordered a single burger for $11 (no lettuce or tomato), onion aioli and house spread at no cost (first spread is free, 2nd spread usually $1 but I used Yelp’s check-in offer to get it free) $4 fries, and a $7 salted caramel shake. I only waited a few minutes in line and then around 10 for the food. I got lucky and grabbed a seat right at the counter. I am not a fan of the burger. As is the case with most vegan burgers I’ve tried, it just had no flavor. It was a little dry and tasteless. I did like the cheese and spreads though. And this is not to mention that the burger was quite tiny. The $4 fries were fine at first. Your standard fast food salty fries. And the portion was actually pretty generous, they gave me quite a lot for $4. But after eating a bit, I noticed a slight greenish tint on many of the fries. You can see one in the pic of the fry tray, as well as another close up picture of another one. I was hoping it was just that one on top, but turned out there were a lot like that. I don’t know what exactly this indicates, perhaps that the potatoes were not ripe? Whatever the case, it looked unappetizing. As I was working nearby and on a break, I cut my losses and stopped eating them (didn’t have time to ask for refund). Lastly comes the $7 salted caramel shake. It was way too sweet for me. I did not like the underlying soy taste throughout the shake. It tasted more of vanilla than salted caramel as well. They also did not have an actual thick straw which is typically used for milkshakes. The shake was quite thick, which is usually like, but because I was given a regular straw, it was hard to sip much of anything through it. It was also a very small quantity for $7. Summary: – decent service, food came quick – did not like burger much. Not much flavor to it. Pricey – fries would’ve been ok except for the weird green tint that permeated a lot of them. Yuck… – milkshake was very sweet, not much caramel flavor. Small amount for $7 – $24 for a subpar meal of a burger, fries, and shake. Yikes

Great Divide Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – Gates, Denver International Airport C, Denver

The food here tastes dismal. It might help if you drank some beer so your taste buds are drunk too but with two kids while waiting for a transit flight at 2pm, we didn’t order drinks and boy was the food bad. We ordered the roast turkey sandwich that came with fries and a coleslaw in a container the size of a sauce cup, the chicken entree with risotto, and some bison chilli cheese fries. First off, the chicken entree is $20. It came with a piece of chicken so dry I couldn’t chew it without drinking water. The children completely rejected it as they couldn’t bite it (My 4 year old and 1.5 year old eat chicken often). It was charred on one side and tasted like burned, dry meat. Do not order. The risotto that came with the chicken was the most tasteless I have ever had. It was neither salty nor flavored with the mushroom it contained. I don’t even like salt but I hated the idea of wasting $20 and tried to add salt, pepper and some of the bison chilli cheese sauce to make it possibly edible. I failed and most of it did not get eaten. My husband’s sandwich has the dryest turkey meat I have had in my life. It was so dry it made my mouth feel furry. The only competition it had was with the dry chicken. Redeeming factor was the mayo in the sandwich. Fries were edible. The bison chilli cheese fries were edible. Not great, but compared to the other food, edible. Do not dine here. McDonald’s from the same airport cannot be worse. If you want bad food, don’t come here because it’s worse than bad. Oh, yeah, the server had something on her mind. Four people at the table, she brought two sets of cutlery, two cups of water. Kids need neither utensils and plates not water. Spoon to eat risotto with never came. Don’t eat here.

Bento Kitchen Cravings – Menu with Prices – 310 N Clippert St Suite #6, Lansing

The interior was nice and clean and the staff was really nice. Food was served quickly. So far so good. I really wanted to like this place. I got the kimchi bulgogi burrito, kimchi bulgogi “fries”, and spicy wings. I took a bite out of my burrito and all I tasted was cheese that tasted like kraft singles. I thought maybe I took a cheesy corner and I was expecting to taste more. Nope. From start to end, all I tasted was cheese. Their fries were also disappointing. It was more like thick potato wedges, more kraft tasting cheese, with a very small amount of uncooked kimchi placed on top. Kimchi fries I’ve had in the past from other mexican korean fusion restaurants usually came with a copious amount of fried kimchi on top with a bunch of other toppings like green onions, sour cream, etc..
