The best pierogis I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a LOT of pierogis on the East Coast at places run by Polish people. I loved that the pierogis at Big Ski’s are pan fried with butter. It takes the dumpling to an entirely new level! The fillings are all fantastic, but “The OG” (filled with potato and farmer cheese) is by far the best of the vegetarian offerings. The one filled with sauerkraut isn’t bad either; compared to other pierogi spots, their sauerkraut isn’t as pickly and is more fresh. The “Hells OG” is not for the faint of heart, it’s definitely got a habanero kick, but with enough sour cream anything is doable. Cheap, delicious, and made with quality ingredients – Big Ski’s is the epitome of what Food Carting should be.

Babcia’s Pierogi – Menu with Prices – 999 Broadway, The Broadway Market, Buffalo

Babcias Pierogis are amazing. Lots of different flavours, all good, all delicious, all full of love, and wrapped up in a tasty dough. I’ve had the pleasure of having lived in Poland & Germany, and while over there, I became addicted to Piergoi. They’re so easy to find over there – little stands all over Krakow and Warsaw where for less than the equivalent of $5 you can get half a dozen tasty pierogi with all different types of fillings and tada, lunch/dinner is served! So upon moving back to the US, I started craving for Pierogi. Frozen Mrs.T’s Pierogis just weren’t doing it for me, so I started hunting around. You can imagine my horror at going to a place like Ru’s on Niagara Street and shelling out nearly $20 for the same thing that cost me $5 in Krakow. But I’m not in Poland, so I chalked it up to being on the wrong side of the ocean. I did sample a few other local brands that I found in a few of the local grocery stores, but I wasn’t happy with what I found. All of them came pre-boiled, which warped their taste and texture. In my quest for pierogi, I went down to the Broadway market – it’s the center of polish culture here in Buffalo, so SURELY Pieorgi will be found! And alas I was right! Babcias Pierogis are amazing. Overflowing with stuffing (which can be a bit of a problem when you’re trying to pan fry them) with a stable but delicate enough dough (it’s not like you’re chewing through a pizza crust). I felt like I was back in Poland. It was a great find. The staff/owners are really nice and actually seem to want to make sure you’re happy with your purchase. Thanks Babcia ? Also, on a side note, in Poland the frozen Pierogis that are made in some wonderful grandmother’s kitchen and that are sold in quaint marketplaces in the city centre are NEVER precooked. You really don’t want to buy pre-boiled frozen Pierogi (as I found out the hard way, that’s the trend over here). It adds a lot of water weight, and it tends to ruin the texture in the final product when you go to reheat it. It’d be like pre-boiling spaghetti, freezing it, and then recooking it. Yech. I don’t care what any vendor tells you, don’t buy it pre-cooked.

Pierogi Spot – Menu with Prices – 26511 Golden Valley Rd, Santa Clarita

My first time here but my son had come here before and recommended. This experience was with my wife and son and then some other friends met up and ate here too. We came in on Saturday before noon and sat down and placed our orders. Each came with soup and salad, plus six pierogis (a side note, you can split those and get three and three if you want different types). I found out the soup was tomato and hate tomato soup (don’t get me started on that one), but got a double order of salad, one before and one with the meal. For my pierogis I got half sauerkraut & mushroom and half potato, cheese and jalapeno. The latter had much more flavor, but both were good especially with the dipping sauce that comes with it. It was well over 100 degrees when we came in so we got around 6 refills of the cucumber / mint water from our nice waitress. Very enjoyable and work a try, I thought the pierogis would be a bit bigger they turned out to be dumpling size instead of closer to a small empanada size…go figure.

Green Pear Heights – Menu with Prices – 93 Franklin St, Jersey City

I’m not sure if I’d classify this restaurant as Italian because they serve kebabs and pierogis. Perhaps that’s the food snob deep within in my soul. Your call. VEGAN OPTIONS! A lot of the new establishments that have been popping up in the Heights & Heights adjacent either have a very weak vegan option or none at all. No, I don’t want to eat your half-cooked veggie burger with soggy fries. Give me something more. Green Pear has done exactly that. Spinach gnocchi is the staple vegan dish here but they’ll happily veganize the spinach & ricotta ravioli. If you’re lucky like me your ravioli will contain spinach and mushrooms. I believe the spinach and broccoli pierogi is vegan as is but don’t quote me on that. Everything is fresh, and I mean FRESH, so you know your money is going far. I haven’t had any dessert (yet!) but the coffee is delicious here.

Dybowski Authentic Polish Market – Menu with Prices – 1325 Hudson Ave, Rochester

Amazing authentic European food and goods are sold at this small quaint delicatessen. Henry, the owner, is friendly, kind and always there with a smile and a helping hand- as is all of the staff members. Amazing deli meats, cheeses and sausages. The Pierogi’s are made in Chicago and Henry makes at least one to two trips each money to get them from what I believe to be one of the best pierogi companies in the USA. Try them- it’s a must! My favorites are still the Potato and Cheddar, but there are several different types to choose from, including dessert pierogi’s. Prices are reasonable and it’s nice to support a wonderful local store.

Crow’s Feet: A Mountain Collective Menu with Prices 2843 NW Lolo Dr, Bend

Iâ??m writing this review as I walk out of the store. The Crows Feet has the absolute worst customer service my partner or I have ever experienced. My partner bought his new skis on Evoâ??s website and had them shipped to Crows Feet because they are contracted through Evo and we were in Bend for the weekend visiting family. First, we were never greeted. Then, finally, one of the employees asked what we wanted and we explained we had skis shipped to their store. Immediately the vibe of unwelcome was more than palpable and when we left all the other employee said was â??you know, ours are cheaper.â? Completely unprofessional and made me extremely uncomfortable to merly stand in their store. As avid skiers and boarders, we will never return!

Ivanhoe Cafe – Menu with Prices – 5249 Joseph Campau Ave, Detroit

We met there with friends for lunch (about noon). From the outside, the building appears as a non-descript corner bar, where itâ??s been since the early 1900â??s. Go there to read more of the history. There are few external windows. The former Eastern European and Polish neighborhood is mostly grass today. The side entrance has a sign overhead that tells you it is the Polish Yacht Club (PYC), also called the Ivanhoe Café. They have a short dining schedule – from 11 AM to about 3 PM. There is a gentleman outside. He watches the cars and opens the door for you and group. Our purpose in visiting the PYC was manifold; to return to the area where we grew up, have a meal with friends, and to enjoy the ambience of a real Polish style bar/restaurant. And in this regard, the PYC met the requirement. We were seated quickly, a member of the wait staff brought a large plate of Cole-slaw and pepperoncini to snack on before ordering. All of it was fresh and tasty. We also ordered drinks. We had ?ywiec beer, though there are other Polish beers available. As part of the meal, all of us had a cup of chicken rice soup; homemade and very meaty and satisfying, We had three orders of fresh perch with fries, one was substituted with pierogi, and one order of Kielbasa w/kraut and fries. As an extra, you can order potato pancakes. The perch are pan-fired, and were tasty, very close to being more than enough. The tartar sauce provided with the fish was good. They mentioned that the perch were good and we would be coming back again. The smoked Kielbasa was cut into slices and also pan-fried. It was tasty, if a bit salty, and provided with spicy horseradish as a condiment. The sauerkraut had a bit of caraway flavor and was not overcooked. Pierogi (potato filled) appeared to have been not home-made though they were first boiled, then fried, like my grandmother did. No fried onions however. The potato pancakes also seem to be commercial, not homemade. Both pierogi and potato pancakes were served with sour cream. The commercial made items were not expected to taste like homemade, but overall the meals were filling, as we took some home with us. The menu is Polish based and adequate. The food was good. Service was good too.

Soup & Sausage Bistro – Menu with Prices – 13240 N 7th St Ste 4-5, Phoenix

I’ve been meaning to try this place out for a few months, it just isn’t on the way to most of our travels (although it’s less than 10 minutes away, go figure). We arrived early on a Friday evening, and there was just one table with customers at the time. They made some small talk and mentioned how great the solyanka soup was. My wife ordered that soup and thought it was delicious (as did I when I sampled it). She also ordered sausage (one of the mild varieties) with fries, and really liked it all. I was attempting to order the Variety plate #1 because I wanted to try the cabbage rolls and potato pancakes along with the pierogi, but waiter must have misheard me and had me order smoked sausage with it, which made it a #2 plate. I found it all very good (the sauerkraut is awesome!) but do wish I was able to also try the other items. I also ordered mushroom soup, which was very tasty, and I found to be almost light even though it had potatoes in the broth. The place filled up as we ate, and everyone sitting around make small talk with each other, which was a nice friendly touch. We will definitely be eating here again soon.

Mr Kielbasa Inc – Menu with Prices – 116 N Main Ave, Clearwater

The fresh kielbasa and home-made lunch meats are as good as it gets. Service is very friendly. I purchased some fresh kielbasa and a pound of one of their luncheon meats. They have a grocery area that includes authentic Polish canned goods, baked goods, wines, beer and frozen pierogis. I hear they make fresh pierogis but I didn’t inquire — as this was my first visit and I was mainly there to pick up some kielbasa for Easter Dinner. I would recommend anyone interested in Polish cuisine to visit. It is a real treat to have a place like this in this area.

Yi Jia Kitchen ??? – Menu with Prices – 14748 Northern Blvd, Flushing

YUM! They have an amazing variety of food from soup dumplings to wontons and noodles or rice. The service is also excellent. One of the few spots in the area fluent in English and they accept credit cards. I think there is a $10 minimum but it’s soo worth it! First, the chili oil wontons…they are pretty delicious. Compared to White Bear, I can tell they use better and fresher ingredients here. The wonton skin is also fluffier almost. One caveat…they are A LOT spicier than White Bear. I don’t find WB spicy at all and I can finish one order no problem. Here, I can maybe eat 2 before it gets too spicy and I need a break. I also tried the noodles with garlic and vinegar. This was recommended by the cashier and I would give 5 stars on this alone! I’ve also had the tomato and egg dish. The egg can be a touch overcooked sometimes but still delicious! Looking forward to trying the soup dumplings! I thought I saw they offered plain salted spare ribs before they took a break but looks like it’s not on the menu anymore. Hint: I would love to see that back ; ) Word of caution: this spot is pricier than most Flushing spots but it’s worth it in quality and service!

Spudtacular – Menu with Prices – 4744 S Broadway Ave, Tyler

We tried this place and it is as it appears! Baked potatoes filled with ingredients that are okay, there is nothing that is special or a stand out as many of the ingredients are pre-made not prepared fresh! Understanding that this is a new business and they want to succeed! However, this is something that anyone can do at home and other businesses offer filled baked potatoes that are similar and or better depending on where you go! Jason’s deli, McAllister’s etc. You also have other choices if someone doesn’t want a potato, a big deal for many people! The prices are reasonable, but with a little effort and creativity with your own ingredients, leftovers or fresh, you can have the same thing or better, especially for multiple people and for about the same cost or less depending on what you like! There really isn’t much more that can be said, except for try it out and good luck to the business!

Aneta’s Bistro – Menu with Prices – 2065 N Pine Ave, Ocala

Absolutely the best place for Polish food because it is the only place for good, authentic Polis food in a sit down atmosphere! Aneta’s”s has only been open for four months and it is owned and run by a husband & wife team. She does all the cooking and he serves her delicious meals. All the authentic good homemade Polish dishes you can think of are made here. We have already eaten here twice now and every morsel of food is as delicious as the last. Can’t get enough of the tasty authentic food made here! They told us the Polish Sausage is flown in from Chicago and Chicago has the largest population of Polish people outside of Warsaw and Chicago is known for their Polish Sausage. Well, you can get that delicious Polish Sausage here!!! We are from Chicago and understand Good Polish Sausage and Aneta prepares it up right! The Pierogis are mouthwateringly good – all the favs – sauerkraut, potato, potato and cheese, etc. We had to take some home, too!! We can go on, but by now you’re probably on your way to get some of Anita’s delicious food for yourself. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed. Oh, the place does not have much ambiance, but what they lack in decor, they more than make up for in the taste of the food! And save room for their out-of-this world desserts!!

OC Snowsports – Menu with Prices – 2306 Newport Blvd, Costa Mesa

This place is hands down the best place I’ve ever been to when looking for all things ski and snowboard related in southern California (away from the mountains). Darryl, Ron, and Travis were all super helpful in letting us know more about what we were purchasing and what to look out for. Each of their staff was extremely knowledgeable and their expertise is unmatched to some of the other stores in OC area. Came here three separate times: first two to buy ski boots/bindings and another time to buy a pair of ski boots and their rental package. Darryl, the owner, was very negotiable and made sure we had everything set and good to go for our upcoming Big Bear trip. The store was super clean, opened only for a few months and had a ton of top-of-the-line brands, all 2019 new and fully stocked. They price match their products to online websites like www.evo.com too. Their custom boot fittings ensure you to have the best possible boot for your specific skill level and performance, definitely recommend trying this out as I doubt there’s another place in the area that provides that kind of expertise and service. Darryl was even nice enough to provide us an early pickup for the rentals and only paying for the select days in which we were actually skiing. The pricing of the rentals is reasonable as they are all pretty brand new for regular high performance ($45/day). They also have demo skis that are all 2019 brand new for a higher price with a hefty deposit. Definitely will be coming back for basic or extensive tuneups as this place really does live up to its mantra of providing high expertise for skis/snowboards and custom boot fittings. Great service overall. Do keep in mind this place is more tailored to skis than it is to snowboard, so for any skiers out there in OC looking for a good place and new knowledge about the sport, definitely worth taking a look at this place.
