They definitely picked the perfect location to set up shop! Not only is the name funny and will make any drunk person laugh, they have the perfect drunk food! I’m not sure about you, but when I’ve consumed alcohol weird food combos completely entice me. My friends and I stopped in the food truck area on Rainey for some late night munchies before heading home. I automatically walked towards this place because I assumed if they have a weird name they must have some weird food, which is exactly what I found! The combos are unique, which I believe makes it even better! I opted for the Sassy Gurl as I love Mac n cheese. The Mac was great and so were the bacon bits on top, however I did pick off the jalapeños because it ended up being a little too spicy for me. I do have two suggestions to make for this rating go from a 4 to a 5. First, I think the buns should be toasted! Having your bun a little crunchy would definitely make these dogs so much better. Second, I think the sassy gurl is missing a sauce to go on top, maybe some bbq sauce? Since it’s already a weird combo sauce could only make it better, or weirder!

Bagelsaurus – Menu with Prices – 1796 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge

Getting a Bagelsaurus bagel is no joke. It requires a trip to Porter Square and, on a Saturday, a 30 minute wait outside in the line wrapping down the block. I’d advise you pick up 6 or a dozen and stash in the freezer so you can satisfy that craving without the odyssey. M-F you can call ahead with pre-order, but on weekends, walk-in only. On the weekend, if you’re planning to get a bunch and you’re not picky about variety, you can mostly bypass the wait via the Grab Bags express line: 8am-10am, mixed baker’s dozen of assorted flavors (you don’t get to pick flavors) for $25, option to add spreads ($5/ tub) and/or coffee. No substitutions, no bagel sandwich add-ons. Is a bagel *really* worth all of this? For a Bagelsaurus bagel, yes. My obsession began in the office kitchen: I picked up a bagel as I would any other breakfast food leftover from a meeting. I could tell by the exterior they looked super legit: crispy exterior, lots of bubbles. I toasted it and topped with some of the weird-bits-in-it cream cheese. I took a bite, and my life was forever changed. This was, hands down, the BEST bagel in Boston. How do they do it?! It’s so chewy soft inside, but so crispy eggy perfect outside! Oh, and the cream cheese with weird bits in it? Honey. Rosemary. Cream cheese. Honestly, why isn’t all cream cheese honey rosemary? On a sea salt bagel, this is the pinnacle of perfection. It’s Peak Bagel. Your search is over, but your journey is just beginning.

Extreme Pizza – Menu with Prices – 111 W Nolana Ave, McAllen

9/7 Saturday My sister, her husband, and my niece Lilly went out for pizza and it was worth it! I ordered the Hanoi Fever: shredded pork, maybe more like pieces of pork, marinated in a spicy hoisin style sauce, peanuts, green onions, cilantro, carrots, jalapeños and mozzarella. While the spicy hoisin style sauce wasn’t really spicy to me, the fresh slices of jalapeños did it for me! Great choice if you like spicy! Maybe I’ll dare myself to try the Ghost Wave- ghost pepper cheese!!! THIN CRUST PIZZA!!! YUMMMY!!! We had THE YARD, Cheese and another pizza with sausage, mushroom and ricotta! Everyone was satisfied! My nephew Toby turned 28 years old! Ok, The Yard comes with so many toppings one slice is all I could handle: Italian sausage, pepperoni, salami, black olives, mushroom, green peppers, red onion, vine ripe tomatoes, tomato sauce, mozzarella and cheddar! So much and so gooooood! On Tuesday’s they have a deal: buy one larger and get a smaller free. Something like that. So next Tuesday…yep, pizza for lunch! Took the pizza to go, and didn’t stay, but I do want to go hang out and have a slice and some beer! Wonderful pizza and a great price!

Lewis Barbecue – Menu with Prices – 464 N Nassau St, Charleston

Will start this off by saying this is the best bbq we’ve ever had. (Minus from our smoker). We came in on a Thursday afternoon for a late lunch. The atmosphere is awesome. The entrance starts with the bar and then you walk through some doors to more of a restaurant style seating. Plenty of seating inside and it. The outside seating was actually very pretty with a big oak. Wasn’t crowded at all when we arrived but as soon as we grabbed a menu a huge lined formed. We grabbed a beer and my husband ordered. As there were 4 of us he ordered 2 racks of ribs with some corn bread pudding and Mac n cheese. I could taste the smoke from the ribs before I even got it to my mouth. I am not normally a fan of spare ribs, I prefer baby back, but these were incredible. Had plenty of tender, almost fall of the bone, meat on them. There was a spicy but not too spicy rub on them with some sauce. We ended up taking maybe 7 ribs home but that just means another awesome lunch. The corn bread was packed with the normal flavor of corn bread with some jalapeños and corn kernels in it. Very moist. I make a great smoked Mac so I’ve never found one in a bbq joint that I like until we came here! It’s the perfect texture of being able to eat it with a fork and it not fall. They used a white cheese with had a good bold flavor. There was also a little bit of crunch to the cheese. This place has been on my list but we never go in to Charleston so we waited and I’m sad we didn’t go sooner! Will definitely be back to try the brisket!

Quan Tri Ky – Menu with Prices – 10592 Garden Grove Blvd, Garden Grove

In Vietnamese, someone you consider to be your “Tri Ky” is a really good friend. It actually doesn’t have a perfect translation cause it is such a deep friendship, they even have poetry and essays on the topic. A “Tri Ky” is there for you when you are happy or sad. You never have to explain yourself to them… cause they just get you! There’s a segment from an old Vietnamese poem by Au Duong Tu which says, “Tuu phung tri ky thien boi thieu” — meaning when you drink with someone who truly understands you, 1000 shots is still lacking.” That’s why I wanted to come here with Joe P, my fav drinking wingBro! Ladies, hit him up!! And we had a celebrity appearance by Maila H, my fav and only Aries Sissy!! She just gets me!! ? So anyways, all we ordered was SOJU– The Chamisol ($10/bottle). Honestly I have no clue now many we ended up with. Like 3 to start before Maila came and another and another and ughhh maybe 7 or 8 or 9???? Anyways there is a yelp check in special where you buy 2 get 1 free. I was really excited to think I can buy 6 and get 3 free, but it turns out that we are limited to one offer per table. Ohh well… I need to actually eat the next time I come back here. They have an awesome menu full of delicious looking drunk munchies. I love drunk munchies! This place has awesome vibes!! Chill music and beautiful friendly ladies coming around to drink with you. They were really sweet!! This is definitely one of my new go-to drinking spots. Next time I’m just Uber/Lyft here so I don’t have to text anyone to pick my drunk butt up. Too much YOLO!!

Wheelys Cafe & General Store – Menu with Prices – 5592 Whitesville Rd Ste U, Columbus

GRITS – I can take them or leave them. For the most part, I never order them from restaurants because they are flavorless. Never any salt, never any pepper, never any butter…just flavorless! And when you go to add all these condiments to the grits “after the fact”, they’re just not as good! So like I said, I can take them or leave them. That was UNTIL I had Wheely’s Grits! OMG, OMG, OMG! I had some a week ago and I’m still thinking about how phenomenal those grits were! The girl behind the counter said they contain Monterey Jack Cheese, Mozzarella Cheese (they may contain one other type cheese as well),Sour Cream, Jalapeños, Butter, and Green Onions. It goes without saying they also contained just the right amount of salt and pepper as well! Let me say too, I can’t eat things that are spicy hot and even though they do have Jalapeños in them, they are NOT HOT (just a tad spicy – and I mean that – JUST BARELY)! You can add a meat (bacon, sausage, etc.) and/or an egg or two. I added one egg and it was WONDERFUL! It was a filling and scrumptious breakfast all for a little over $2.00! Are you kidding me? Way less money for a one-of-a kind homemade special Grits Bowl! I’ll take that any morning over Hardee’s or McDonalds, and it was way faster! Go get em’ and enjoy!

Wing Cookout – Menu with Prices – 303 W 70th St, Shreveport

This place has quickly become my go to for wings and fried rice. They have many combos. The chicken is served bone in and you can order a number of different popular flavors and combinations. The rice is a traditional Chinese fried rice but you can order extras like chicken, shrimp and egg. They also make hamburger combos. This is a take-out/takeaway establishment but since it is located in what was once a sonic restaurant, one can eat in a parked car. The staff are pleasant and are willing to answer any questions you have about the menu items and make menu suggestions. Service is great overall and the location is generally safe. Chicken Salad Chick – Menu with Prices – 4050 W Kennedy Blvd, Tampa

This will be a two-fold review. The first was from yesterday via Uber Eats. After reading the descriptions from their website, I settled on Classic Carol on a croissant and a scoop of Sassy Scotty. I received my food in less than 20 minutes. It was packaged very well and the portion was perfect for the size of the croissant. This was some of the most delicious chicken salad I’ve ever had. I thought that title forever belonged to a bistro back in Memphis, but that is no longer true. I took my time and ate my croissant. I did have some tortilla chips with it. It filled me up, big time. I ended up snacking on Sassy Scotty a few hours later, before putting the remainder on two slices of wheat bread. The scoops aren’t gargantuan, but the flavor in the chicken salad is! The punch of flavor in Sassy Scotty, helped me to go into the physical location. Today, I walked in (around 12:35pm) and they were pretty busy. Other reviewers mentioned this place is hopping around lunch much time. The busy flow of things didn’t take away from some superb customer service. The nice lady who waited on me, was super patient. I had it in my mind to enjoy a croissant and make it a trio. I sampled Dixie Chick, Lauryn’s Lemon Basil, Cranberry Kelli, and Kickin’ Kay Lynne. I will most definitely order Dixie Chick next time! I had Kay Lynne on a croissant and got a scoop of Classic Carol and Sassy Scotty. It didn’t take two minutes to have my food waiting for me at my table. Overall, my experience was very pleasant. The food, customer service (I was checked on by 3-5 servers while I was seated), and cleanliness of the restaurant were all worth it. The price matches up well with the food I received. I’ll certainly come back here again and eventually try all of the signature flavors! Oh, that little butter cream cookie is to die for! And, because of this place, I’ve never be attempting to make chicken salad again ?

Viet Subs Cafe – Menu with Prices – Monument Rd, Jacksonville

Came here for lunch due to a recommendation of a friend. It’s a small spot (probably 10 top). The lady at the register was nice. The menu is slightly smaller than other Vietnamese places I’ve been to (but maybe they pride in quality over quantity?). I ordered some spring rolls. When I checked the yelp the pictures showed a bunch of shrimp to each spring rolls. But when I got mine there was only 3 pieces of shrimp per roll AND a mix of beef or pork? I’m not sure why the switch from a lot of shrimp to some shrimp and another meat, but it wasn’t bad. In the roll had sole good fresh greens and rice noodles. Normally it comes with peanut sauce but the wife has a nut allergy so they switched it to their version of ‘sweet and sour.’ It wasn’t bad but it could have used a stronger sweet and sour flavor to it. It was a very faint flavor of a little tang/sour and some sweet. I ordered the philly (cheese) steak banh mi. At first you think they sandwich is small which technically to me it is (check picture;nickel for reference). But after I ate sandwich, I felt STUFFED! Maybe because the meat and cheese is dense? Anyways, it came with a good amount of mixed flavors. First the bread had crunch but ALSO still had chew to it (I hate hard crunchy bread). I don’t think the beef had any sauce/marinade but the combo of beef and the melted cheese they used had a good savory/steak component to it. It wasn’t to salty or anything. To add to the savory, there were julienned pickled carrots (it’s wasn’t heavily pickled/sour to those asking; it was only a slight sour with a little hint sweet, to me) and cucumbers to added the ‘freshness’ elements to it. Then there were some cilantro on it and a few pieces of jalapeños. I like spicy food but I hate the taste of jalapeños, but I like to try everything “as is” the first time, so this sandwich had some. It wasn’t bad with the jalapeños but I would still go without it in the future. But if you like them/spicy, just keep it on.

URBAN Brew and BBQ – Menu with Prices – 2601 Central Ave, St. Petersburg

As soon as we walked in, we were sat down and given water within less than 5 minutes. Absolutely wonderful and spacious outdoor patio with alfresco bar and TVs for your football games. Loved that. Smelled delicious and found out that after checking in on Yelp you get a free sample of bourbon or rye. This is going to be awesome, we thought. Bourbon sample I got was a young buck, but a nice touch and I REALLY like bourbon so I’m partial. It was a good size though and I was surprised, wonderful! So, so disappointed with the food after we had such high hopes for this place. Tables were a bit sticky. When we received our “award-winning” mac and cheese we didn’t think it was that special. Cheese was a bit bland, to be honest. The bits of sauce & pork, average. The few bits of bacon were the highlight. So for $9 for Baton Rouge style… Not worth it for us. The biggest disappointment was the $19 brisket sandwich though. Ok brisket (didn’t feel very smoked as many other places) and the “spicy Carolina-style” barbecue sauce was more akin to tomato puree than actual barbecue sauce we’re used to. It was the oddest consistency we’ve ever had barbecue sauce in. And the flavor.. I don’t know. It’s hard to describe. It just wasn’t great. The garlic mashed potatoes, however, were fantastic! Hot, unlike the rest of our lukewarm and in some parts cold sandwich and mac and cheese. Perhaps the cooks timed our order wrong and this is why? Service was so friendly and caring, it’s so disappointing that our cold expensive meal was mostly subpar. We won’t be back, unfortunately.

Kenny’s Smoke House – Menu with Prices – 5760 Legacy Dr #4, Plano

My mom and I decided to have a mother and daughters day out and have dinner here. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and showed to our table. After we were showed to our table we waited, and waited, and waited for someone to notice and greet us again. It gave us sometime to look over the menu and feel out the atmosphere. It is a laid back and upscale bbq spot. There was a mix of Texas favorites, such as enchiladas and southern flair such as mac and cheese, greens, and fried chicken. Finally our waiter Louis came and was so sweet and took our order. My mom and I decided to split their brisket and rib platter. The platter came with one side, so my mom picked their collard greens and I ordered two sides of Mac n cheese and coleslaw. A few moments later a platter of fried jalapeños came out that we mentioned that we did not order, but they ended up allowing us to keep them. My mom loved the jalapeños, but to me they were a little over fried and dried out. The sauce that came with it was cool, creamy, and tangy. Then our food came and I am so glad that we shared a platter because they are super generous with their portions. The meat was super tender and fell right off the bone with one touch. I loved that the sauce came on the side and how everything flowed together so well. Louis checked on us and my mom asked about getting a piece of cornbread. Not only did we get a piece, but an entire loaf that they took care of! Shane, one of the managers, came out and told us that unfortunately they do not have individual slices and because of that they were happy to comp the bread! And wow it was so good! The jalapeños popped and the bread just melted in my mouth! I wish that I had more room in my stomach as the food was delicious. The leftovers will be great though! The sevice we received throughout our meal made up for the lack of service in the beginning. I will be back!

Piratas Bakery – Menu with Prices – 3016 Whittier Blvd, Los Angeles

Tamales ($1.50): Order tamale with Monterey jack, spicy sliced jalapenos, and light tomato sauce OR pork tamale with tender chunks of shredded pork shoulder slathered with a mildly spicy salsa

Sagitario Bakery – Menu with Prices – 8201 Roosevelt Ave, Flushing

My late night “I’m too drunk to speak spanish to get my tacos” or “I’m too drunk to wait 15 minutes for pollos mario” or (more often than not) “I’m waaaay to drunk to wait in the street for chuzos” spot. Ahem. A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do to NOT fall asleep in the street (lol and if you’re familiar with the neighborhood than you know what I mean, maaaaaan *chris tucker voice*) Anywho. This place has some shockingly great pepperoni slices here. Amazingly enough they actually do everything in house, including proofing their own dough which is nuts considering that most of the pizzerias around these parts barely make their own sauce (save for Louie’s, that’s the jam). The crust is always nice and crispy, their is a great oil – non oil ratio (don’t be fake grossed out, I know you know what I mean) and the pepperoni has a really nice and noticeable smokiness. They are heavy handed with the oregano and black pepper here, which is a plus in my book. Thursdays – Mondays it’s crammed with drunkies like myself, and I assure you that’s a good thing. Spanish and English are spoken here. No deliveries. Cash only with an ATM on premises. Open 24 hours… They server espresso and coffee and empanadas in the mornings as well. But I prefer a tamale for breakfast (holla holla to my tamale ladies across the street!) Ps* you obviously don’t have to be drunk to eat this pizza… I often pick up a few slices after work when in too lazy to make dinner! It’s also a good stop to make if you ever take the q32 or q33 anywhere since it’s right on the route.
