I am giving two stars for the setting. I can’t give it any more (or less) because food and service were not to be, for us two seemingly invisible patrons, last night. I had wanted to try this place, as we live close by and I knew it was a beautiful setting, and we wanted to sit outside on this evening and have a glass of wine and some appetizers. All was on track at first (we were immediately seated at a nice table on the deck). It was not busy, at least on the deck (perhaps because it was a smoky evening). We waited patiently for 5-7 minutes for some attention, as in, from a waiter (at some point I began to note the time on my phone, as it was getting to be a lonnnnng wait for us increasingly thirsty and hungry people). We decided to give it 5-7 more minutes. After about 5 more minutes, a table of 6 was seated two tables away (the table between us was empty). They were immediately attended to by a cheerful waiter, taking their drink orders and chatting them up. We observed this for several minutes, and at that point we knew that this was not going to be the place for us on this night. We re-entered the dining room, walked through, and departed the same way we entered (i.e., the entrance/exit). No one said good-bye…no one cared (sob), we just must have been invisible. We made our way to another close-by establishment (Broken Top Bottle Shop), and were immediately attended to, had delicious food and drinks, and we felt entirely visible!

Hickory Tavern – Menu with Prices – 206 Harvey St, Winston-Salem

We finally tried this place about a year ago and fell in love. The food and atmosphere were great and the service was even better. We told everyone we knew. We literally ate here at least once a week for 6 months. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Before I start, I have to say that my wife and I both work in customer service and are the first ones to give the benefit of the doubt when an establishment has an off night But two in a row starts a trend. The last time we ate here, they were really busy and had a couple of big parties going on. The food was not even close to what we first experienced. We were understanding, but disappointed none the less. We are not the type to complain, so we paid our bill and left. Tonight was a bit more frustrating and unacceptable. We walked in at 5 on a Friday. There were literally 4 tables occupied in the whole place. There was staff everywhere! We were seated immediately, but waited at least 10 minutes before someone came to the table. Meanwhile there were at least 15+ staff members hanging out at the service area. Finally a nice gentleman came to offer us drinks. He said he wasnâ??t sure who our server was, but he would help us. He wound up being our waiter for the evening. He did the best he could. Our order was wrong, we had to go to the bar and get our own drinks, but we did not complain. The manager was dancing around with staff like it was a 14 year olds slumber party. We paid our tab…left our server a nice tip…and will not be back.

South City Kitchen Avalon Menu with Prices 9000 Avalon Blvd, Alpharetta

Let’s talk about my horrible experience with this restaurant, and the even worse customer service. I came in after a conference to have dinner by myself. The staff at the front desk was nice. I told them I would be alone, and they said ok and set me at a booth. The wonderful woman took away the extra plates and said your waiter will be with you shortly!! Here is where it gets funny. As I took a look at the menu, I already knew what I wanted so, I was simply waiting for my waiter. Setting the place is empty, the bar had a few people but my side there was one group and me. I could tell they had already eaten I could see the plates as I walked in. 5 minutes pass, and no one comes to take my order. Ok that’s fine I guess. A couple comes sits in the booth in front of me, and the waiter immediately comes over and starts talking to them. I swear I couldn’t tell you where she came from. I hear her explain the menu and ask for drinks. I thought that was fine once she is done she will come to me. WRONG she leaves comes back 2 minutes later with glasses of water. Mind you no one even came to me once. She proceeds to take their order and now I am annoyed and very uncomfortable. Lets talk about the elephant in the room it was a European couple and I am a Chocolate Women but I am not sure if that plays in it (i am sure it did) because the waiter was a Chocolate women also. She had a low-cut. Now if we both were seated and didn’t get service that’s different but that wasn’t the case. I came in and they were serviced first. Welcome to ATL So I wait 5 more minutes (20 minutes have passed.) with egg on my face and I am ready to go. The guy that was at the front desk when i came in not sure his name. He maybe a manager (he was a european man with sandy colored hair kind of chunky). He comes over asks if someone took my order I said no and he says “oh let me take it now”. **Inserts disgusted emoji face** 1. Where is my apology? 2. I felt it was a lets make sure we get this money. There was no concern for how long I waited. He knew how long I waited because he was in the front when they took me to my seat. I said “No I am going to leave”. He said, “why,” (laughable) I said, “They were seated after me, and no one came to take my order.” He looked down at the pad he pulled out of his pocket like I can take it know. I slide to get out of the booth and said ” i don’t want to get into it” … I kid you not he clapped his hands together, bent over and said “ok” and mad hand motions to show me the door. Here is the kicker I walked out feeling embarrassed and highly upset. There was a car in front, and I hid behind it to wait for the Uber I called to take me back to midtown. This same guy came out and said can I talk to you and I was on the phone with my friend. He said, “oh your on the phone” and walked away.” The End

Klondike Sunset Casino – Menu with Prices – 444 W Sunset Rd, Henderson

Last evening 2/16/2019 my girlfriend and I went to have dinner and enjoy the comedy show Bonkerz. First let me state the comedy show was FANTASTIC. The headliner James “BIGFOOT” Scott was absolutely hilarious, the openers were also very entertaining. THEY GET 5 STARS ! The venue in the Klondike Casino is their restaurant Sarah’s Kitchen. I signed in for the comedy venue, and was advised to sit anywhere. I must have picked the invisible table…….then I realized there were many, many invisible tables. Where I sat was only placemats. I sat for over 45 minutes without anyone asking if I wanted a beverage. Clients noticed that I patiently sat for over almost an hour………No bus person, waiter..NO ONE even as much stopped at the table. Oh by the way they no longer offer club members the Prime Rib Special, it was $5.55 for club card holders, it is now $12.99. That being said after an hour my girlfriend ordered a salad that arrived with NO DRESSING. That fiasco required asking 3 employees for dressing. My burger was undercooked….I ate it because it had taken 40 minutes for the burger and salad to arrive, I was HUNGRY, and may never see my food again. Needless to say, the service was DEPLORABLE, AWFUL, TOTALLY INVISIBLE. Management should have pulled someone over from the bar wait staff. The comedy venue was totally packed. I have made a firm decision to never eat at that property EVER AGAIN. I will attend the BONKERZ comedy venue.

Doug’s Day Diner: BOULDER – Menu with Prices – 2400 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder

Came for breakfast this morning and had one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The hostess did not greet us and just grabbed menus and started walking. We weren’t sure whether or not we should follow her as she didn’t even acknowledge that we had come in and then she turned around and gave us a look like we were the ones doing something wrong. Once we walked to where she was standing she said “which table do you want” in a harsh tone and we were finally seated. We waited for 10 minutes before someone even acknowledged that we were there (keep in mind that there were maybe 10 other people in the whole restaurant and there were at least 3 waiters/waitresses.) a woman came over and asked us if we had been helped and then took our order even though we were not one of her assigned tables. Besides taking our order, bringing us the food, and giving us the check, we never had any other interaction with her (she didn’t even introduce herself to us.) when she brought us the check I was immediately ready with my card but she walked away and after waiting for 15 minutes we finally decided to go up to the front to pay there. The hostess gave our waitress my card and she went into the back. After waiting for yet another 10 or 15 minutes, we finally asked if they knew why it was taking so long and the guy we asked responded by saying that my card was sitting on the table we had left. Keep in mind that my boyfriend and I were obviously done with our meal and had both left the table and the waitress still put my credit card on the table that was completely vacant. Worst dining experience I’ve had in a while, definitely not coming back. Just goes to show that the village coffee shop is always a better call than Doug’s

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews – Menu with Prices – 8057 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee

Absolutely TERRIBLE service. Or rather LACK thereof. My party and I arrived an hour and a half before closing this evening and while we were seated immediately, NO ONE even came to our table introduce themselves let alone take our drink orders. We sat for 20 minutes and NOTHING!! The place wasn’t even crowded at all for a Sunday night. There were probably about 8 different tables and everyone around us were kept waiting from what we could see. There was a table next to us, a party of 8, who kept waiting to pay for their dinner to the point one of them for up with their receipt and money and walked into the kitchen with their money because they had been waiting too long and they just wanted to leave. After 20min, my party and I decided to get up and leave since we had been waiting and waiting and WAITING and yet no one came to our table. On our way out, our friend walked up to the bar area and informed the bartender of what had happened and that we were leaving. The bartender’s response was “Oh, OK. Bye”. Not even the hostess was at the front to express our frustration to. If this is what Res Robin calls “customer service”, then it has a LONG way to go. Again, the restaurant was not crowded at all, other tables all around us were visibly waiting for food, refills, waiting to pay. We hardly saw ANY staff around. Will definitely NOT be visiting this location again, or any other Red Robin location for that matter. This seems to be an ongoing problem at other RR locations we’ve been to.

Piccola Trattoria – Menu with Prices – 18302 Sierra Hwy # 107, Santa Clarita

My husband and I ate here because our son suggested it and the reviews are terrific. When we arrived, the young man at the valet was very friendly and with a single question we discovered we had some random geography in common. So, we enter through an enclosed patio and I’m thinking, “wow, this is a lively place and they’ve done a great job of creating a visually interesting space”. We had a reservation, were seated immediately, and water and bread were at our table in less than a New York minute. The waiter followed shortly to take our drink order and I decided on the Aperol Spritz which is better suited for a warm afternoon lunch but it was yummy and refreshing. My husband ordered an old fashion, can’t go wrong there. When we were about half-way through our drinks the waiter returned to take our dinner order. I started with the Allegra salad that arrived without a couple of items but it was fine and my husband ordered the Caesar salad. My dinner of linguine and giant prawns arrived before I’d finished my salad. The server attempted to push it aside with my dinner plate until I picked it up and handed it to him. My husband was incredulous and asked me if I was done with it. Sure, let’s get to the good stuff except it was bland and the prawns required a knife to cut. My husband ordered the lasagna and didn’t think there was anything special about it. As usual he finished his meal first, which appeared to be a cue to the server to ask if I wanted a box for mine. The waiter returned once, right after our meal arrived to check on us but he was gone before WE could ask for another drink. He then looked in on a table close to ours, peered over my husband’s shoulder to see his still empty glass, hesitated and walked away. It was then that we could see it was obvious they were trying to turn our table. But why? Ahh, the hostess committed the sin of seating two people at a table for four, on a busy Saturday evening. We waved the waiter over and ordered another drink. He returned a few minutes later and was surprised to find they hadn’t arrived. Hahaha! Then we asked for a dessert menu and ordered the cannoli with a rock hard shell but yummy filling and the crostata di more which was delicious! This was an abominable experience but in all honesty I believe it was way outside the norm. There is no way a restaurant exists for well over a decade, off the beaten path, with a high price-point for the area, and not be exceptional. We will try again in a couple of months. Also, the valet is absolutely necessary and, contrary to other comments, people do not up their wardrobe game when dining here. This is an irritating fact applicable to all of SCV and much of Los Angeles.

Cantina Louie Menu with Prices Gerber Village, 2, Gerber Rd, Asheville

Went tonight. Said table for 4, when the table was ready, they said why do you have 4, we were told 2. I made a joke, no one laughed. They then sat us at a bar top table. Waited 15 minutes, no one came by to check on us, give us chips, water, nothing. Waitress were walking to the left of us and right of us, not one glanced at us. So we got up and left. We walked past the front and told the guy, that had seated us, no one ever came by so we are leaving where we can get some food. He asked what table are you at. I said you seated us 15 minutes ago…I don’t know what table it is. That’s all they said….my wife said good luck. I ve been in Asheville for 13 years and never had such bad service. This space has been a rotating door with restaurants, I’m not sure they will last either.

Social Southern Kitchen & Cocktails – Menu with Prices – 5232 Robinhood Village Dr, Winston-Salem

This was my first visit to Social. I arrived about 10 minutes before my date and sat down at the bar. I was greeted immediately by the very friendly bartender. He was cordial and professional. A few minutes later I was approached by the hostess and ask if I had reservations? I said I did not. She asked if I would like to be seated and I said I preferred to wait for my dining partner. I told her my date like to pick a table. That seemed to annoy her. She quickly let me know that most of the tables were reserved. I said that is okay even if there are only two available tables, my date would still like to choose. That annoyed her even more. I personally think the host or hostess is the face of an establishment. They should always be on their best behavior. I was not impressed with the lack of professionalism I was met with. I choose to be seated before my date arrived to appease the hostess but it soured the beginning of what could have been a great night. Once my date arrived we where greeted by a very polite, professional waitress that was very good at describing the menu and specials. She made recommendations and took our order without rushing us in any manner. The food was great. We started with the fried green tomatoes. This is a dish that in my opinion is very easy to get wrong. This was the best I have ever had. For entrees I had the duck breast. It arrived at the table cooked to order. My date had the Wahoo with red peeper sauce. Both were very tasty. The wine recommended by out waitress paired great with our food. For desert we had the grilled strawberry cake. Again ,delicious. We ended the night with fresh brewed coffee that was also very good. Overall it was a good dining experience with excellent food. Had the hostess been a bit more pleasant it would have been a five star night. As it is I will still give it four stars.

Hyderabad Biryani House Rochester – Menu with Prices – 1100 Jefferson Rd, Rochester

I have mixed opinions to give this restaurant a lower review. I had high expectations for this place but the customer service was less to be desired. I met up with a friend who is from India and from the South side so when I told her about the place, we were both excited to try the place especially since it focused on South Indian food when all the Indian restaurants here focus on the North Indian cuisine as she informed me. She has also tried their location in Buffalo and I attended one of her Indian cultural festivals where they catered the food from the Buffalo location so we knew it was quite authentic. We went there on a Thursday evening and my friend had already gotten a table so I just went right into the place, but one thing I noticed immediately was there was no host/wait staff at or near the front of the restaurant to greet me so I just went right in (not sure if they were short on staff that day?). The dining area has plenty of room and probably only a few tables were occupied. This place definitely has space to grow as they have an additional room beside the dining area which they probably use for private dining space. We ordered from the South Indian section of the menu and shared a dosa with chicken curry, while I ordered a parotta (crispy pancake) with mutton curry for myself and she had the idly (fermented rice patties with chutney, sambar and blended chili powder). For drinks, she ordered the madras coffee and I had the masala tea. The curries and dosa came out right away but she had to wait a while for the idly. This is one thing that they need better coordination with is making sure all the food comes at the right time. As well, we kept on having to remind the waiter about my masala tea and even when he was about to give us the bill, we had to ask him yet again (so probably about 3 times in total) about the tea and then he laughed it off which I thought wasn’t the best reaction when serving your customers. As well, my friend knew the coffee wasn’t Madras coffee and it tasted more like Nescafé which she also told the waiter and he sort of didn’t really have an answer. It is just unfortunate he wasn’t very apologetic which just didn’t sit well with us. With the food, we do agree with other Yelpers, the food is quite authentic and the spice level is represented of Indian curries but I would say for the price you paying, the quantity should be more. The dosa and parotta were portioned well and both were battered well with the parotta being very nice and crispy. Despite waiting a while for my friend’s idly, she did enjoy it and I tried a bit of it. It was quite tasty with the sambar. I also enjoyed the dosa with the chutney the best. But probably another big complaint that I had was the mutton curry really wasn’t mutton, it was chicken. I would have complained to the waiter but since the service wasn’t the greatest, I decided to bite my tongue and eat it. Another thing which was a pet peeve of mine was there was no extra napkins he gave us and when eating Indian food, you need napkins. My friend ended up stealing a napkin from the table next to us just because the server was nowhere to be found. It’s really unfortunate because the food is good and very flavorful here but the service needs to improve. I just probably won’t be back to try it.

Mr. Kim Korean BBQ Restaurant Menu with Prices 12201 E Mississippi Ave #113, Aurora

I have eaten here several times and the service has never been anything to write home about, but came here tonight and I am completely disappointed and pissed off with my experience (or should I say non experience). Walked in and waited for a a minute or so before someone came and acknowledged us. He takes us to our table and gets us water. It’s AYCE so it’s pretty easy to just know what you want to order right away. I am usually patient and want to give them the benefit of the doubt because I already know their service isn’t the greatest. Well, we waited and waited and waited. Two more parties came in and were both sat. One party (non Asian) got sat first. Then an Asian party gets seated right next to us and one of servers goes over to them and takes their order within two minutes of them sitting down… yes before my table who was seated before all three parties and before the non Asian party seated before them. We had been waiting for 13 minutes and no one came and talked to us or acknowledged us at all. So I figure okay, the server is probably gonna take our order next… maybe she’s busy. After she takes the order next to us, she starts walking away. Then she starts walking toward us again after setting menus down so I just stare at her and we lock eyes. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry and you can tell when someone needs something. Then she walks right past us still not acknowledging us. I could’ve waived her down, but kinda just wanted to see if she was really not going to come to our table at all. That was enough for me. We have never waited that long nor been completely ignored here. It’s a shame bc this place has good food and decent prices. Like I said, I have eaten here several times before, even brought friends and family here. This experience was so bad that I will definitely not come back again. Will now be taking my business to any other kbbq place. This was completely ridiculous!!!

Ming Village Chinese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 7624 NW 186th St, Hialeah

Found this restaurant searching google. When we entered the restaurant there was no one to greet us. There was one other group, 3 men, seated and dinning. When a lady emerged from the kitchen it was clear she was the waitress as well as the hostess. She seated us politely and offered us hot tea. The menu has a great selection of classic as well as popular Chinese dishes, they also have dim sum available all day. The waitress kindly explained a few questions we had and took our orders. Later the owner came out and wished us a Happy New Year as he walked by, I recognized his voice from when I called earlier asking,”until what time do you serve Dim Sum”, which he replied, “all day! I’m a rebel!” Overall dinning experience was pleasant and quiet, as only one other patron entered as we dined. The food was delicious and flavorful. The waitress/hostess and owner were friendly. Only cons were they started wrapping up the paper table cloth while we were still seated at the table enjoying our fortune cookies.

The Backlot – Menu with Prices – 4005 South Ave A, Springfield

Unless you are rushed in making a movie time, do not waste your time. My husband and I decided to try this restaurant last night (and we weren’t even going to a movie). From the moment we walked in, it was chaos. The place is a little dirty, and the roof was leaking onto a few of the tables. After finding a table, a server finally came to our table. We explained that it was our first time there. She brought menus and explained that because they were seating 300 people in the theater, we would have a wait for our food. Since this was date night, we had no problem waiting (as long as we could get some drinks and snacks). We looked over the menu and waited (and waited and waited). Finally, my husband suggested that we go somewhere else. We got up, put on our coats, and walked out. Our server was standing outside the door and looked at us. She saw us leaving and did not say one word to us. If you are looking for a place to have a special night out with someone, this is not it. Many other places in Springfield will value your business. We went to one of our favorite places (Black Sheep) which was packed wall-to-wall. We were immediately seated, had a server at our table in 2 minutes, and were enjoying drinks in 10 minutes. We won’t be back. Team Backlot, do better.
