This review is mainly targeted for vegetarian / Vegan folks. Visited around night time. You might have a better experience during day time. This is my 2nd attempt trying the food here and I didn’t want to give negative ratings to this place, but my hand is being forced because of a few things I noticed. My order: Ordered Navratan Korma, Shahi Paneer, Garlic naan’s, Indian salad, Mango Shake, Basmati Rice, (Chef served free pappad and checked on me how the food was. Thank you, chef) Price: Approx $43-$44 Taste test and ratings: 1) Garlic naan’s 10/10 (Very well cooked, a Nice portion of butter and cilantro, Garlic was properly infused in butter, not too well done nor undercooked. Good job). The only reason I gave two stars to this review. 2) Navratan Korma 0/10 rating (Vegetables where raw, it was a bit too spicy, Just basic plain sauce with a load of creme) – $12 for 14 oz 3) Shahi Paneer 3/10 rating (Paneer was dropped into the sauce in chunks, Tomato sauce was way too tangy for shahi paneer. Just not the impressive recipe. I have a feeling they use color and canned pure for tomatoes) – $12 for 14 oz. 4) Mango Shake 2/10 rating (Way too much sugar, no toppings such as cashew, pistachio, Artifical mango pulp is used even though summers are mango season, I could notice the extreme used of artificial coloring) 5) Indian salad 5/10 ( just simple onions with a lemon wedge and green chili) 6) Basmati Rice 4/10 rating (Rice had good texture but the use of cumin was so wrong it totally destroyed the taste. Cumin was raw not roasted properly. You should avoid using cumin in its raw form) Thank you, chef, for the free pappad (It was definitely properly roasted and delicious) & Thank you for checking up on me how the food was. BTW- I wasn’t ready to give out on spot review because it was a bit early for me especially when I didn’t even start eating the food. I hope you understand and improve on the recipes. Service Quality: OK (Management need to keep an eye and learn to manage better especially during night time). This is how north India bar & grill started and they were doing very good until their management stop taking care of things and they end up shutting down their business. Fresno is a hard and challenging place to run a good Indian restaurant. Please, improve your recipes and quality of service. The waitress was a nice and sweet girl. I believe she is being assigned more work then she can handle. They had a lot more employees just sitting around and doing nothing but chit-chatting. Very disappointing. The waitress checked up on me 2-3 times but after I was done with my meal, I was just waiting for the past 15 minutes for someone to come and collect the money from me. I had to personally walk to the cashier and make payment. I noticed she was assigned some other task of sorting utensils while two other ladies and one gentleman was just sitting and laughing. I hope your managers read this review and delegate work properly. Thank you for your service.

Curry Pizza House – Fremont – Menu with Prices – 39070 Fremont Blvd, Fremont

Being a huge fan of pizza I see it as a duty to try as many different types and restaurants I can. However, I have often been left unsatisfied by Indian fusion pizzas (such as curry pizzas). I thought maybe they just aren’t for me, then came Curry Pizza House a buck to the trend. It is not only the best curry pizza I’ve had, but it is also among some of the best pizza I’ve had overall. I’ve been quite a few times and the staff is usually quick to take your order. However, they aren’t very quick to clean the tables after guests leave. Once you order, expect a reasonable 15-minute wait for your food. My personal favorite is the Chilli Paneer pizza, it has a great balance of spice, paneer, and veggies. The fresh cilantro really ads depth to the flavor of the pizza. I’ve also had the Shahi Paneer, Palak Paneer, and Achari Gobhi. However, none are as good as the Chili Paneer, though they are worth a try. The prices are decent, considering you get a whole heap of toppings, a large pizza will feed about 3 people. Overall, Curry Pizza House is a standout restaurant among both Indian cuisine and pizza. It is a must try for everyone, I would definitely recommend you try it.

Bangali Sweets And Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 2985 Pembina Hwy, Winnipeg

This place just opened up in the strip mall near the old log cabin Mcdonalds, in the same spot that the old Santa Lucia used to be. This brand new Indian restaurant is 100% vegetarian! My mom and I ordered the Veg. Thali which comes with 3 dishes of your choice, rice, yoghurt, and a gulab jamon. I had the vegetable kofta, chana masala, and shahi paneer. The platter also comes with a big basket of naan which were fresh and delicious. The service is kind of awkward (I think it is the son of the owner, he has no serving experience) but the food is so good. They also have a huge selection of Indian sweets for between 6-8 dollars a pound. Try this place!

Star of India – Menu with Prices – 4025 E Chandler Blvd, Phoenix

This review is just based on their lunch buffet – This is another place I would give a 3.5 stars if I could!! but Yelp hates nuance or something, so confident that this will not damage them too much given a very solid 4 star average overall, I’ll designate it as a 3. The restaurant is good! The food is good, the service is good, it’s clean and it smells great, and I liked that the buffet – uniquely among similar buffets hereabouts – had solid porcelain plates with little sections, like a northern thali. The buffet had two rices (basmati with just like, cumin, and then pulao), several chicken dishes, spinach, a mixed veg curry, chana masala (which I haven’t seen at a lot of Indian buffets around here?), shahi paneer, and samosas, as well as two deserts (kheer and gulab jamun). Naan (plain or garlic) is brought to the table. The spice level is pretty low overall – not bland food remotely, just mild. The food overall was really good, especially the naan, which was nice and flavorful and crisp. The samosas were a bit crunchy? Like the outside dough wasn’t as softly fried as I’m used to, but the inside was still delicious, and the inside of the restaurant – which is a bit smaller than I expected from the outside – is nice. This one is a bit out of my way, but if I lived closer, I would probably make it a staple of my restaurant going, and I would not warn anyone away.

Taj Mahal Cuisine of India – Menu with Prices – 3939 Center Point Rd NE, Cedar Rapids

The best Indian food I have had in the USA. I (born and brought up in India, so I know authentic Indian food when I taste it) just moved to CR from California, and didn’t actually have any hope of finding good Indian food. But color me surprised to find the best Indian food I have had in the US. Only 2 words to describe the taste at this restaurant: Authentic and Delicious. I have been to a lot of Indian restaurants in the USA, but they all tone down not only the spice but also the flavor. But not here at Tajmahal! I was so happy to taste the authentic Indian taste in each and every item. The food isn’t too spicy but still ensures to be very flavorful, which is the sign of a really good Chef. The first bite that I took of the mutter paneer, took my tastebuds back to India. The food is just bursting with flavor and aroma . The goat curry was almost exactly the way my mom makes it in India. The chicken tandoor was very well cooked and the flavor went all the way to the bone. Most Indian restaurants (in the USA) won’t have south Indian cuisine, but I was delighted to find Dosa (sort of a crepe with spiced potato filling ) an authentic South Indian dish. The vegetarian dishes like chana masala and mutter paneer were 10/10. The mango lassi was brilliant, the perfect amount of mango, milk and sugar. Desserts: the mango ice cream was awesome and the gulab jamun were pretty good aswell. I have been there only a couple of times and that too for a buffet. I can only imagine how much more tasty the food would be when you order it off the menu and can ask them to make it according to your taste and choice. Pros: Great Food. Great service. Indian grocery store is right besides the restaurant. Cons: Ambiance of the place isn’t bad but it could be much better. I have also visited “Taste of India”, which has a much better ambiance (good food as well), but is no where near in terms of the REAL taste of India which you get at Tajmahal. I definitely plan to be a regular at this place and would suggest everyone to try the food at this small restaurant with a big heart !

Curry Bliss – Indian Vegetarian Restaurant & Banquet – Menu with Prices – 101 S Coit Rd #359, Richardson

We went for the afternoon lunch buffet on a Saturday. (The weekend price @ 12.99). I heard the price is cheaper for weekdays. For the price, i would say some more was expected. However, there were several good dishes on the menu that overall i would give it 4 stars on 5 stars. Notable is their pumpkin curry. Dishes that need improvement are the sambhar which looks very similar to their rasam. (The rasam was good). And there was a dish called shahi paneer. It was not good when we had it. It was either few days old or the paneer and curry did not blend well and something was wrong with the curry. We ended up wasting everything we poured for shahi panned on our plates. The buffet also includes fresh naan and Dosa which was good with the chutney on the buffet stand. There was idly but they were not fresh so we did not try them out. There was also curd rice which was good (It was not sour and the taste was good. But it needed nuts and raisin). There was good vada on the menu which i liked. I am not rating this restaurant too negatively because overall, it was a hearty meal we had. Much better than the Madras Pavillion (where i had my graduation lunch. A horrible mistake). They have redone it very nice. Bit advice to the owner. Try to improve on the dishes mentioned in this review, maybe Americans cannot find the difference between hot idly and cold idly. But indians in the dallas area as far as i know are not forgiving. Overall kudos for changing madras pavillion, that one had to go. (I used to notice a ton of cockroaches back then, i noticed only one near the billing counter on my visit !!! Not sure how you’d get rid of german cockroaches but you have done a good job)

Khun 9 Thai Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 2018 W Carson St, Torrance

This review is strictly for the mango sticky rice. Was craving mango with sticky rice after ramen and so glad I checked Yelp! Khun 9 Thai Kitchen had great reviews and saw their very cute heart shaped sticky rice and mango and I just had to try it. So glad I did! I ordered 2 and I am so glad I did bc my family and I loved it! The best mango sticky rice we’ve had is in Hawaii and let me tell you, Khu 9’s version was not far from it. It was so tasty, the mango was so sweet and the sauce was delicious! So happy we’ve found a new place whenever we are in Torrance and craving for a yummy dessert. They only serve during mango season so if you’ve never trued mango with sticky rice, it is a must and get it from Khun 9 , promise you won’t be disappointed! Also, their other foods look good. Definitely smelled good as I picked up my dessert. Will be back to try their other food. They are located in Torrance on Carson street next to Flame Broiler.

Vinny?s Greek and Indian Grill – Menu with Prices – 110 Southside Square, Huntsville

So the way I do reviews is that I go into every restaurant as it being 5 stars and it can go down but also they can earn their way back up. I was in DT HSV taking pictures one night and saw Vinny’s. I came a few weeks later with my family. We walked into the place and it seemed very high class however it was 6pm and nobody else was in there (besides the staff). The service was obviously quick. The menu was more Indian than Greek (which is fine, just pointing it out). We ordered samosas and spanakopita. The pastry on the spanakopita was undercooked and we had to send it back. The samosas were only minis which was extremely disappointing. They also are most likely frozen ready-made samosas. The “sauces” in the middle of the dishes are definitely not traditional Indian (or Indian for that matter) nor Greek to my knowledge. It was marinara sauce… The spanakopita came back, cooked decently this time. Soon after, the food came. We ordered chicken tikka masala and paneer tikka masala. The “naan” and rice were “free”(food was overpriced). The naan was really some sort of whole wheat flatbread and not actual naan. Our paneer(cheese cube, completely vegetarian) tikka masala was SUPPOSED to be vegetarian but there was a decent amount of chicken in there. The paneer was not very good and was not restaurant style. The tikka masala (sauce) was decent but tasted very typical among Indian households. The food was also way overpriced, nearly $10 for apps and $15 for entree. In summary Frozen samosas Marinara sauce Undercooked spanakopita Naan? Chicken in paneer Average to slightly below average food Overpriced Not coming back

Royal Curry Lafayette – Menu with Prices – 4510 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy Suite- J, Lafayette

We were in the mood for Indian food, and this is close to our home, so we gave it a shot. It was fairly busy, which is a good sign. The place is somewhat more modern than what I’m use to, and it was really opened. We had the following: Chili Paneer – fried paneer with spring onions and ginger – I felt like this was really bland and had no flavor Garlic Naan – tandoor baked white flour bread seasoned with fresh garlic and cilantro – the naan was delicious, I wished I had ordered two orders, but did not want to wait Butter chicken – clay oven baked chicken, cooked in rich tomato butter cream sauce – the butter chicken was nice and creamy, really delicious and flavorful Tandoori Chicken – grilled chicken thigh marinated in yogurt & spices – took awhile for the tandoori to come out, it was hot and fresh when it came out, but there was a lack of flavor Overall, not a bad place to try Indian food, I would probably try other stuff there.

Coriander Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 11214 76 Ave NW, Edmonton

A hidden gem. Coriander is not in the most obvious of locations but convenient none the less. Tucked away in McKernan they’ve transformed two old small spaces into a larger restaurant that is clean and quaint. The owners take pride in their new business and it shows as they remembered our friends who had been once before and expressed their gratitude on bringing us in. The value at Coriander is outstanding and you can taste the freshness of the food. We ordered Chaat Papdi, Paneer Tikka, Chili Cheese Naan, Gobi Manchurian, Veg Korma and Safed Paneer. I would give them all a 5* except the Safed Paneer. We ordered that dish on our friends recommendation and she loved it but was not to my taste – so could be differing preferences. All curries come with rice as well which has become unheard of in Indian dining. You usually have to pay $3-$6 more for a bowl of rice which irks me. Service is a touch slow and the food did not come out in a logical order but I believe in time they can fix this. Also our plates weren’t cleared after our meal and we had to call someone over to order dessert and pay at the till. Half our party was Indian and this can be the norm in Indian restaurants so it didn’t bother me too much. If they want to excel in a non ethnic dominated neighbourhood, the service needs some improvement. Overall – lovely staff/owners and delicious food. Go check them out and support a new local business!

Rasoi IV Authentic Indian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 1437 Sam’s Dr #124, Chesapeake

We ate at Rasoi in Jersey City in August when we were visiting NYC. Then, came home and realized there’s one in Chesapeake! We couldn’t believe it. Very exciting. The decor is nice. Modern Indian with touches of sleek industrial vibes. Nice space. Adequate service. The young man was pleasant but away in the back a lot and there was this constant beeping coming from the bar area right next to our table that would go on for more than 5 minutes at times until he returned. It was annoying. Even my in-laws who were visiting from India, who usually aren’t bothered by such things, kept asking us what is that noise/alarm? We didn’t know…maybe that’s how they set their phones? We ordered 3 veg dishes and a house chicken dish. The gravies were amazing. Delicious. Full bodied and perfectly nuanced with flavors yet robust without being over spiced or too robust. We were 4 adults. The Sham Saveri was amazing. However, it had only 3 tiny spinach paneer dumplings in a big bowl of sauce, which was really strange. We had to eat a bowl of sauce with rice- delicious sauce but what happened to the dumplings? The chicken was our biggest letdown. Again, the korma gravy was delicious. The chicken was so dry and over cooked, it was squeaky. The dal makani and saag paneer, garlic naan also delicious. A lot of very high notes with a few unusual and disappointing low notes, which is why I gave 4 stars. That doesn’t mean we won’t be back. We absolutely will to try more and to try some items again. A great addition to the Indian food offerings in the area.

Peak Restaurant & Bar – Menu with Prices – 3401 W Airport Fwy #110, Irving

I visited this place on a Saturday afternoon for the lunch. The place is situated near to Irving Mall. This place is a restobar and serves the Nepalese and Indian cuisine along with drinks. Now, here is my perspective about the place. Food and Drinks (4.5/5) – I started with a Mango Lassi and it tasted awesome. Then I went on to try a couple of appetizers. Chips Chilli is a must try in appetizers. It’s a dish made of potatoes. I also tried their “Chatpate” dish which is what we call “Bhel Muri” in India. It’s a dish made of rice puffs beiing mixed with peanuts and small diced pieces of cucumber, onion, tomato. Then I went on to try on their Veg Momos which tasted equally good. In the main course, I tried Paneer Vindaloo with Garlic Naan. The curry was made of paneer (cottage chesse) and potatoes. I loved the spiciness of the curry. Finally finished my meal with Indian desserts such as Gulab Jamun and Ras Malai. I am sure u will love the Gulab Jamun here. Service (4.5/5) – I got a very warm welcome from the staff. Jasmine gave me some very good suggestions on what to try. Also, the food was served quick, fresh and hot. Ambience (4.5/5) – The interiors of the place are really good. They have a dim lit kind of ambience. They have 4-5 big TVs playing different sports on each one. So u can enjoy whicever sport u like. They have different kind of seatings (sofa, wooden chairs and high raise chairs near the bar). So you can chose whatever you are comfortable with. Overall, I had a great time here and would love to visit the place again.

Bhojan Xpress Menu with Prices 1105 Bellevue Way NE A4, Bellevue

Bhojan Xpress is located in a very busy strip mall in downtown Bellevue, so be prepared to fight for a parking spot with the Facing East, Boiling Point, and other tenant customers! Lucky for me, it was a short walk from my office, and I checked out this spot at lunch. You order at the counter, and the staff will prepare your meal from the pre-cooked curry dishes on display. The food goes in a high quality microwaveable plastic tupperwear container and the signage around the spot indicates it’s popular for takeout and delivery. There are only a few small tables inside and two tables outside, so I would not recommend going in a large group. I felt like the inside felt too stuffy, so I sat outside by the parking lot. The food itself was good. They don’t ask for level of spice, but I found the saag paneer to have a bit of a bite to it and the butter chicken to be extremely mild. With most curry dishes, I expect more sauce than meat, but there were only a few small pieces of chicken in my scoop, so that was disappointing. The saag paneer was okay but pretty liquidy. I enjoyed the garlic naan on the side with these dishes. Good lunch spot for quick Indian food, and they have a 10% discount for Yelp check-ins.
