This Second location just as good as the Redmond location! Need to try the third and compare but here is my take: Slab Of ribs are perfectly smoked and cooked so they are chewy to get off of the bone and so tender because they were done at the perfect temp for the right length of time. 5 stars for sure! Want to get A few slabs of them shipped back to Tucson! The brisket was superb, sliced medium thin and juicy and tender, and the smoke and bark just right! Served with a cornbread that is Not on my new list carb diet, but so good I had two pieces…. oops! The meat was all approved so of course untried three different meat plates! Chicken also juicy and perfectly cooked – and wings are a must! Loved the beans and slaw and sauce was a perfect blend of tangy and hot. Would you guys franchise some of these in Arizona? Priced very reasonably my only regret was I was not at Baldy’s for happy hour at the Redmond location – heard a very cool history of that building from our visit there a few weeks ago…. as Arnold said and echoes by the great General MacArthur “I’ll be back” and/or “I shall return” Highly recommend the food and great service!

Raw Bar by Slapfish – Menu with Prices – 19694 Beach Blvd, Huntington Beach

Came here for the happy hour of course and left with not really thinking I’m going to come back. The happy hour menu and price changes every 30 minutes starting at 4pm until 6pm. We came at 4pm so everything was $4 on the happy hour menu. The service here was below average, their was only one server running around and when the restaurant started to get a little filled up, you could see her getting stressed out. Food would come out at random times, we ordered a lobster toast that we had to continue asking about and ended up asking for the check before our toast even came out. For the food, we got 2 lobster toasts, 2 fish and chips, 8 oysters, and the steamed clams. The lobster toast was basically a slice of bread toasted with lobster meat, delicious and in my opinion the most fairly priced item. The meat was seasoned perfectly with a nice sauce as well. The fish and chips were pretty good, the fries were a nice fry but the beer battered fish stole the show. Each order comes with 1 fish and a small handful of fries so I’m not sure if $4 is worth it for this item. The oysters were highly disappointing, orders come in 4 and when we got there they were offering F.P. And Paradise oysters. Both were very milky, and not oysters I would want again. The clams were not apart of happy hour but we got them anyway, they aren’t very big but you do get a lot. They were decent, cooked in white wine with garlic and fennel. Not something I would get again. Overall the $4 happy hour is a smart idea but the dishes are quite small so to really fill up, you gotta spend a lot more than you would think.

Charlie’s BBQ & Bakery – Menu with Prices – 2309 E Main St, Chattanooga

Small unassuming joint with great BBQ and some unique twists on our old southern staple…BBQ cannolis! Who would have thought to stuff an Italian favorite with a southern favorite?!?? Well Charlie’s BBQ & Bakery did it and they are incredibly tasty! I don’t believe they are on the menu yet, (may be) but ask to see if they can fix you a couple up. Delicious pork packed into what is the best cannoli shell I have ever had the pleasure of crunching into! That was a bonus for me, that the owner just wanted my friend and I to try them as she is considering adding them to the menu a couple days a week. On to the main course… I had the brisket plate and I am a bit of a brisket snob so I can be pretty hard to impress. The brisket they served up though was on point. Perfectly cooked, tender, juicy, well seasoned and passed the pull test with flying colors. My sides were slaw and baked beans, both of which were excellent. I especially appreciated the slaw as it is vinegar based dressing which is my favorite. I am not sure if you noticed but they also have Bakery in their name and from what I saw, they are total pros with the old mixer and rolling pin. I am not a big sweets guy, but my next visit, dessert is going to be a must try for me as they looked amazing!

Pita Street – Menu with Prices – 11400 Fourth St #104, Rancho Cucamonga

Wow! Our entire food tasted amazing. Paneer kabob plate: THE BEST. It was everyone’s favorite. I would totally recommend this for anyone who is vegetarian. The paneer was not oily or greasy, it was cooked perfectly. Falafel plate: One of the best falafel I’ve had. It was crunchy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. They fried it perfectly. Very flavorful. Chicken shawarma plate: Tender and juicy. Lots of flavor. The chicken was cooked crispy but was still juicy and tender. Loved this! Chicken kabob plate: Yum!! Huge pieces of flavorful chicken. The portion is great and very filling. The basmati rice that came with all the plates WAS THE BEST. The rice had so much flavor and was melting in our mouths. We all agreed the rice in the meal was a huge bonus. The hummus in the plates was smooth, creamy, and did not taste bitter or overwhelming. I Best for last: The PITA BREAD!! I have had so many different places and the pita bread here was the softest and most fresh tasting. It tasted buttery and melts in your mouth. Garlic sauce: smooth and perfectly flavored. Buttery and great to dip meat in. Customer service from the older man was inviting and I truly appreciated his hospitality. Was impressed with the food! Would recommend this plate 10/10.

Mulberry BBQ – Menu with Prices – 2441 N 11th St, Lincoln

Amazing BBQ. I would say the best in town. The ribs are smoked in just a way it doesn’t fall off the bone, but is juicy and tender. They were dry rubbed ribs and perfectly seasoned. And there was a lot of meat on those bones. The pulled pork wasn’t dried out like other BBQ places in this town. The burnt ends were actually moist and tender with a nice spicy kick to it. Unlike other places, where the burnt ends might as well be beef jerky due to the toughness. The smoked chicken was actually half of a whole chicken and amazingly juicy. The sliced brisket was also amazing with a nice spice to it. The potato salad had a homemade quality to it and tasted great. The Mac n Cheese was super cheesy with large shells instead of the normal elbow noodles. You could tell it was made from scratch unlike the made from a box taste other restaurants will serve. The only think surprising is the bbq beans. It isn’t the normal beans you maybe familiar with. They must be more of a North Carolina style of baked beans. Not the normal Bush’s Baked beans others are serving. Still the beans were good, but with a lot of kick to it. So if you like some spiciness, you should try the beans and the burnt ends. For the price, you get plenty of delicious BBQ.

Nazca Peruvian Eats – Menu with Prices – 1400 Dublin Rd, Columbus

I was excited when I saw this on Zaftig’s calendar. My husband and I both got Lomo Saltado and a side of plantains to split. We got the green sauce with our Lomos per their recommendations. We ordered and paid. Then were given a buzzer so we could go and get our beer. I am already liking these guys The Lomo was very good. Veggies are cooked well, meat is tender, but the spices and sauce were very good. Some heat but not over powering.. Plantains are my favorite, and also cooked to perfection. All and all I am happy with our food adventure tonight. I hope to see them again…

Count Porkula – Menu with Prices – 1212 E 6th St, Little Rock

First the high points: In the atmosphere dept you guys are killing it. Clearly someone did some research in one or two larger metro areas. Calls to mind Bleu Garten in OKC. You have built a space which is comfortable, and pleasant to be in. Service. So important, and apparently I’m not the only one who thinks so, because service was absolutely on point in here. Buuuuut… on to the meat of the review (yuk yuk)… It honestly blows my mind that a city situated 130 miles from Memphis on one side and 130 miles from Texas on the other can be SOOOO bad at BBQ. I have tried at least 3 different BBQ joints in LR and none have failed to disappoint. Here at Porkula I went for ribs with beans and slaw. I should’ve just asked for a side a slaw before ordering anything else. In my exp, a BBQ joint’s slaw is an excellent weather vane. Porkula’s slaw was so flavorless it was basically a superfluous palette cleanser. Beans weren’t far behind. Little black pepper flavor. Not much more. The ribs were tasty in so far as they were a fatty meat, cooked at the right temperature for the right amount of time. Not much can be said for the rub, the smoke flavor, or the sauce (AKA everything that makes BBQ BBQ). Very mild flavor, bordering on bland. Sooooo…. Should you check out Porkula’s? It depends. If you’re looking to have drinks with friends in one of the only progressive aesthetics in this entire town, Porkula’s will not disappoint. If you’re looking for BBQ? Drive to Memphis. Ultimately it’s the food that will bring me back and it’s the food that will elicit my recommendation to others. That’s why there are hole in the wall joints that have been going strong for decades, while another restaurant with a beautiful facade closes daily.

Bar BQ Queen – Menu with Prices – 1267 N Highland Ave, Clearwater

Amazing BBQ, try anything and you can’t go wrong! The food looked and smelled so good, we just started eating it before I could get a picture for yelp! We got the ribs, chicken, and pulled pork dinners. Beef knuckle is only served on the weekends. Meats were cooked perfectly: juicy, perfect smokey flavor, falls off the bone. Portion sizes were huge, the chicken dinner was literally half a chicken. All food is to-go, but is a great value. Each dinner had two sides, we tried the beans, collard greens and mac and cheese. All of the meat and sides have really strong flavor from the smoker. Really liked the beans, they were slightly sweet. There are a variety of BBQ sauce options that come in a cup on the side, the spicy ones are really hot. Its a bit difficult to find, look for the smoker as you drive by! Cards were accepted when I visited.

Ross Bridge Farmers Market Menu with Prices 2080 Grand Ave, Birmingham

I have to admit when I arrived at the Ross Bridge Farmer’s Market this isn’t where I planned on eating….in fact there were a couple other food trucks on my radar. However, when I arrived the air was consumed with some of the best smoky bbq smell ever. My decision was made! Sandwiches and BBQ plates were the primary choices. Sandwiches come with one side and plates come with two sides. Really hard to decide, but when they said I could mix the plate (pork and chicken) I was sold. My sides were potato salad and cole slaw (greens and beans also available). I have to be totally honest I’m not sure which meat I liked best, The pork was really good and very fat free (not always the case at BBQ joints) and the chicken was juicy white meat. The BBQ sauce complimented both perfectly. The potato salad wasn’t too bad, not my favorite but had a pretty good overall flavor and texture (not to wet). The cole slaw was really not for me, but I can’t deduct any stars for that because I’m just not a huge fan of sweeter style cole slaws. Prices are reasonable and they sell cans of soda for $1 (which isn’t bad for a place like this. The order taker was very friendly and had her hands full with the large crowd. Taking orders and calling out names when orders came up. She was handling everything perfectly.

Jestine’s Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 251 Meeting St, Charleston

Yup fried chicken another real deal in the south. Super hot fresh fried, thin crispy crunchy skin seasoned just perfectly for you to eat as is or add any hot sauce. Juicy inside and not overdone for sure. Only thing I wish there was one more piece since the chicken thigh and drum were from smaller chickens, which means more tender meat. Dark meat of course. Sweet tea, probably best I’ve had. I mean people maybe think I’m crazy, I do have some experience with sweet tea from Texas and up the Midwest mostly from bbq spots. I would usually self serve mix half sweet tea and half regular tea to have a good balance. Justine’s sweet was balanced well tea flavor and hint of sweet, perfect, refill we’re nonstop never needed to ask. Exceptional service by Mallory. Usual sides, fried corn cob was first for me, a bit dried and missed the sweetness of steamed to boil methods. Collard greens clean and healthy. Cole slaw nice tart vinegar. Okra fried yup with fried oyster and good horseradish spice on cocktail sauce. Will be back for a po’ boy!

Tortilleria Garcia College Hill – Menu with Prices – 5917 Hamilton Ave, Cincinnati

My all time favorite Mexican joint is back with an all new location! This review is a true love letter to this restaurant! I was in the area for work and this gave me a great excuse to stop in to the new College Hill TG. It is adjacent to Brink brewing and has ample parking in the lot behind it. There is a rear entry door for your convienience. Upon walking in I was struck by the bright colors and southwest decor. There is a large dining room complete with TV. Walk down the hallway to the right and you arrive at the order counter up front. I was promptly greeted by multiple friendly staff members when I got to the counter. Before scanning it, I asked if the menu was the same as the other location. This elicited an exciting run down of the days specials, Elote (mexican street corn) and shrimp tacos. I could not hide my excitement over the Elote and ordered that along with a chicken tamale, carnitas nachos with all the toppings, a agua fresca, and tres leches cake. I now had enough food for like 3 days, all for under $20! While I waited for my food to be prepared several other members of the staff greeted me. They all seemed so helpful and genuine. The guy packing my to go bag up was even very meticulous with making sure everything was stacked perfect for optimal travel. OK so now lets talk about the star of the show, THE FOOD! Please Omar, add the Elote to the permanent menu as this may cause me to visit even more than several times a week! The corn was perfectly grill cooked, with a delectable sauce, the yummy crumbled cheese and the ideal spices. This is the best street corn I have ever had, and I have tried it many places across the country! Next up the Chicken tamale. These are so popular at their other location they frequently sell out. Another food item here earning my “best ever” title for best tamale! Get the green sauce to pair it with (complimentary). The chicken is very high quality and super tender, while the cornmeal shell is moist and savory. The main course, Carnitas nachos, I always choose the mexican rice, black beans and all other toppings such as tomato, onion, lettuce, cheese, green sauce, and a little sour cream. The meat is so tender and juicy. The chips are housemade with the perfect crunch that holds up to all the toppings and does not waver. Getting one of the agua frescas is a must for a drink. I always fill my cup with pineapple and a splash of the hibiscus at the top. They are so refreshing! For desert, even if you dont like cake, milk, desert even… you have to try the tres leches cake. I personally do not like cake, but this is NOT. cake. Just think a rich, creamy, peach topped delight. Home run with the second location guys, it is even better than the first!

Hometown Heroes Bar and Grill – Menu with Prices – 600 N Beneva Rd, Sarasota

Great place for “pub” food, but much better than your average pub! A well-lit, friendly atmosphere. The seating is open and comfortable. We went in to try some appetizers. We settled on the bacon-wrapped scallops. Cooked perfectly. The scallops were half-dollar sized, juicy and tender. And, of course, bacon! You had me at bacon! We then tried the chili. Excellent! Not too spicy, but certainly not bland! Plenty of meat and beans. Try it with onions and cheese! Only suggestion: offer some corn bread to make it complete! We then tried some entrees. We had the fish tacos and the Caesar chicken wrap. The fish tacos tasted wonderful. Just the right amount of seasoning. The wrap was with blackened chicken with just the right hint of New Orleans. The wrap came with Sweet Potato fries. All I can say is “Yum!” They were tender, and oh so sweet! The portions were very filling. We left satisfied! We will definitely be back!

Woodpeckers Backyard BBQ – Menu with Prices – 4930 FL-16A, St. Augustine

We came in not knowing what to expect as it’s off the beaten path. Being newbies, Donna had us feeling like family in no time! We started off with Blackberry Cobbler… Perfect delight with ice cream on a warm Florida October afternoon! Then we had a Whole Lotta Pecker… Wow! That was some food! I’ve never in my life had BBQ that I didn’t need sauce for!! Now, the sauces are scrumptious, and you may greatly enjoy them… But that meat is so flavorful you won’t need it! The datil pepper baked beans are not your typical BBQ beans, but hands down the best I’ve ever had! And no one but no one does garlic bread like these guys! I mean everything we tasted was so full of flavor, seasoned perfectly! We ate til we needed a wheel barrow to get us out the door and still brought home enough to eat three meals and a snack! Now that’s how you do food and service! Great job, Woodpeckers! See y’all soon!
