This is place is amazing. It is definitely a hidden gem here in Bend. My wife and I were looking for a place to go to that we had never been, and stumbled across this place on Yelp. When we showed up on Thursday night around 7 there were no cars in the parking lot which was a little concerning, not to mention confusing because we would have thought a place with such great reviews would have a packed house every night. We decided to trust the amazing reviews, go in, and check it out. We were so glad we did!

The Lemon Tree Menu with Prices 718 NW Franklin Ave, Bend

Ok, my bad. I have been asked several times since they opened to come visit The Lemon Tree, but always turned it down as I thought it was a tea and crumpet kind of place. YELP’ers I am stupid I guess. Finally got in a lunch seated outside and found a new favorite eatery. Location, well not the best location for downtown Bend and during peak tourist season parking can be a mother and it can be a packed house. Some of the outdoor seating during lunch has a lot of sun exposure, that is if the sun is out, but there are a few tables around the back in the alleyway with great shade. Indoor seating is not really intimate but very nice, it may also be a little loud when it is packed. Menu, eclectic, worldly, and surprising is about all I can say. I was not familiar with some of the items on the menu but the waiter was awesome and offered a few recommendations for us and they were spot on. Food, amazing! I won’t go into too much detail but will say not overspiced or seasoned beyond the base, real food, real taste. Seriously tastes like homemade food from someone house who knows how to cook. Staff, excellent vibe. We had a long lunch and did not feel like were were rushed to leave which was important as out table has stuff to talk about that day. Everyone was super nice even on a busy lunch day. Value, for Bend it is a value and very equitable. We dropped a big tip out of respect as we lingered a while. We will be back …

American Music Theatre – Menu with Prices – 2425 Lincoln Hwy E, Lancaster

We’ve seen 3 shows here, and have been pleased each time. Last night, we saw Ovation, a music revival show, featuring music through the ages. My wife and I both felt the same. Every person on that stage was talented beyond description. It was a great evening. Very professional. Very entertaining. And the theatre itself is top notch. Very comfortable seats. Clean. Large bathrooms. Even good concessions (that you can take inside!!!). But, perhaps my favorite point: the parking. There are several parking lots scattered around the theatre. Parking attendants direct cars in different directions. So there is enough separation between cars to allow you time to back into a spot, if you want, without the car behind you being right up your tail!

King’s Hwy Brew n Q – Menu with Prices – 1012 N Flores St, San Antonio

I’m not from – or living in – Texas, and have only tried 4 BBQ places during various visits to the state, so am no expert, but I was impressed with several aspects of this BBQ place. My wife is not an expert either, but I’ll include her views here. The brisket was the tenderest we’ve ever had. It was also the best tasting brisket I’ve had, but my wife said she preferred the rub on the brisket at Cooper’s BBQ in Austin. I really liked the ground brisket (marinated in BBQ sauce), but my wife thought the BBQ sauce was only OK. We both agreed the spare ribs were really tender and tasty. The pulled pork was very tender, too, but not very flavorful. As for sides, we both enjoyed the Lone Star Borracho Beans the best, but the cole slaw and potato salad were good, too. The beer selection was better than I’d expected, since I couldn’t find any tap listing, and although several of the other reviews here say something about “good beer” I didn’t find any that were very specific (and “good beer” is as subjective as “good food” .. neither of which I trust without elaboration). So here are a few specifics: there were about 10-12 beers on tap; we both really liked the Hop Delusion Imperial IPA by Karbach Brewing (9% ABV, 100+ IBU); the Axis IPA was OK (but as it was designed as an alternative to “West Coast IPAs”, that’s hardly surprising); if we’d stayed for another, there was a Belgian Tripel (I think it was the Celis Grand Cru) that I would liked to have tried. We are staying by the Riverwalk, and I couldn’t tell from the web site or Yelp reviews what kind of parking is available, so we used Lyft. There is plenty of street parking nearby, as well as a parking lot adjacent to the restaurant / house, so I would have driven there if I’d had a better sense of the parking situation.

UKirk Tallahassee – Menu with Prices – 548 W Park Ave, Tallahassee

You all called a tow truck to tow my car after I parked in your back lot for about 45 minutes. Your parking lot had a little over 5 cars in it and could hold probably 50 cars (so border line empty). Luckily the tow truck driver was more of a Christian than whoever called the tow truck was because even though he was already towing my car out of your abandoned lot he put my car down and said, “You have a blessed day”. So, just here to say shame on you all. Why you may ask? Because you have a sign out front that says you all believe in God. You almost cost me, a college student who was actually interested in your little coffee shop and was thinking about going soon, $200 for parking in your lot with NO ONE IN IT. I would understand if it was packed and your employees or patrons couldn’t find parking because I took a spot. Sure, call a tow truck because that would be rude and unreasonable of me. But there was NO ONE in your parking lot. I was a worship director for 2 years in the methodist ministry and worked for 3 different churches. Never once did we call a tow truck for someone parking in our abandoned lot on a week day. I love it when “Christians” do unchristian things that there is absolutely no reason for. Makes me wonder what the persons thought process was that dialed that number for the tow truck. Anyway, here’s one star because that was incredibly unwelcoming and unchristian of you. I’m not pretending to speak for God, I just think theres a basic standard of Christianity that believers should strive to live by, as Im sure you would agree. Maybe next time you will give someone a while longer to come get there car. It’s not like you were jammed packed. It was doing you absolutely no trouble being there for 45 minutes. Thanks Presbyterian church, I hope whoever called the tow truck thinks a little longer about their phone call this morning and what kind of message that sent me about your “Christian” building. Have a blessed day.

Southern Classic Chicken – Menu with Prices – 235 W 70th St, Shreveport

We read the reviews on this place last Saturday and decided to check it out for our ‘cheat day’ meal. Wow! We braved the torrential downpour and I’m very glad that we did! This is a drive-thru only place. We arrived to see the line of about 15 cars out onto the highway. As we made our way into the parking lot the delicious aroma of chicken frying in clean oil wafted through our vehicle vents. The line of cars moved quickly and efficiently. The young lady that took our order, Pamela M., was professional, fast, and very knowledgeable of the menu. Because we weren’t certain about the size of the chicken pieces we ordered a 10-piece dark, 1 chicken breast, 1 large coleslaw,1 dirty rice and 2 jalapeño peppers. The chicken was delicious! It was not excessively greasy, but well-seasoned, crispy on the outside, juicy inside and still hot when we got it home. The rice was spicy, moist, and tasty. The coleslaw was fresh, not excessively juicy, and crisp. I thought the amount of rolls were excessive, not remarkable, but good. We didn’t try the chicken breast until we served leftovers on day 2; OMG! This was the juiciest, best seasoned chicken breast that I’ve had in over two decades! I look forward to returning to this swanky spot on my next cheat day!

Cross Roads Bistro – Menu with Prices – 232 16th Ave SW, Cedar Rapids

Based on the positive reviews and a few friends’ recommendations, we ventured out to Cross Roads Bistro on a whim one rainy night and weren’t at all impressed. The tiny parking lot was packed. Upon entering the restaurant, about half the tables were occupied while the rest were piled high with dirty dishes and clutter. The number of patrons dropped substantially while we were here, the dishes did not. There appeared to be two servers on shift. Ours was a total trip, y’all. Ordering was chaotic and confusing because she clearly was not familiar with the admittedly expansive menu, but on top of that she was spouting off total nonsense – our friend asked for his burger medium and she told him they only come in one size (…?!?) Skipping ahead to food actually coming to the table, it took 4 tries to actually get everything out correctly. I was served something I did not order and honestly thought she misunderstood me somehow, then she swapped it out with what I did order and served the first dish to another table (EEW!) The side orders came much later than the entrees and the condiments took her two tries to get right. We were shocked when she split our check appropriately without being asked. Between the four of us that evening, we ordered from a few parts of the menu to get an idea of what was up. My fiancé was pleased with his fried rice, but I was pretty underwhelmed by their beloved Evil Jungle Prince curry. It had no flavor and sat on an overwhelming portion of cabbage. The American food was totally frozen/premade that they heated up – bets on Bubba burgers. The table consensus was meh. Pricing is affordable for average portions. Everything was edible, but not particularly enjoyable. One of our friends had been here before and I don’t think it measured up to his memories either. He did mention his previous visits were for breakfast, maybe that makes a difference. We might come back to try that, but it won’t be for a while.

Schooner’s Seafood House – Menu with Prices – 3560 N Ponce De Leon Blvd, St. Augustine

Well, I usually don’t give a 5 star rating, but this place desires it. First time visit for my wife and I. We just decided to go out of town and find someplace to eat. About a mile North and on the right, we noticed quite a bit of cars at 6:30 PM. Walked in, seated right away, ordered Steak and Scallops. First, I must say was the best Cole slaw I have ever eaten. At 64 years old I’ve had plenty.. Steak was as I ordered (Medium Rare)(Blackened) Scallops was not large but not small, plentiful about 8 of them. Menu stated 8 oz., steak But looked more like 10-12 oz. Salad was crispy and plentiful also. My wife had the Fish and chips, Great big portion. Couldn’t fit the desert, but sure will stop and even go out of our way to eat there again. Service was top notch, team work, food on time. Not an elegant place for a first date, but what a meal. Now we know why the parking lot was full of cars.. You must try it…

Flying Frog Coffee Menu with Prices 2595 NE Butler Market Rd, Bend

As a newcomer to Bend, we spent our first weeks house hunting and hunting for the best coffee to fuel our moving process! We have tried the chains and the smaller “mom and pops” in search of the best iced latte. We used Yelp and saw that Flying Frog was right in our neck of the woods but it only showed one review and it was a negative one. I’m glad we gave Flying Frog a chance despite it – it is now a daily routine for us to stop in, chat with Jennifer (the owner) and get 2 quad shot iced lattes. Maybe one day I’ll try the other drinks on her menu but for now, I’m sticking with what I love ? I’m disappointed to see that Yelp has chosen to hide so many good reviews and keep the highly negative one to represent this coffee shop! Check out the other reviews that Yelp has hidden down at the bottom and go visit Flying Frog! (EDIT: Looks like the negative review has given them another chance and updated their review today to a 5-star rating. So happy to see this coffee shop showing at the high rating it deserves)

Anatomy Wine Club – Menu with Prices – 1600 NW 16th St, Oklahoma City

I thought there was a small parking lot in the middle of the building after I looked the place up on Google maps. But those were private lots. So there’s only street parking which I’m not a fan of due to the area especially at night. The place had a great atmosphere, very laidback, and well decorated. For a weekday it was packed though! A friend of mine got there early, (a little before 5pm) but the only available spots was at the bar. Before I came in I looked at their menu on the website, I was planning to get one of the drinks called Tequila Spritzer. But the menu is seasonal it seemed so it wasn’t on the menu when I came in. The bartender was able to come up with a similar drink. It was served in a pretty glass, but the drink was really weak. She offered to remake it, it was a little stronger, but still not good enough. I should’ve gone with one of the wines, but I’m more of a cocktail person. I’m glad I got to checked this bar out, but probably not my go to bar.

Carmen’s taqueria – Menu with Prices – 206 W Northfield Blvd, Murfreesboro

We were headed back to Atlanta from the last night of a concert tour. The group of 20 wanted Mexican food. Found this little out of the way place and headed there based on the great reviews. When we called the young woman answering the phone was very friendly and helpful. Upon arriving, a few folks were weary as there were no cars in the lot – of course it was 3pm on Sunday and there was a Tennessee Titans home game. Since I trust Yelpers – I convinced the group to take a chance. Boy are we glad that we did. This little place had some of the best homemade, authentic Mexican food. We ordered a little of everything on the menu. The refried black beans and rice, the homemade chips and salsa were perfectly prepared. The portions are huge, the fajitas looked great and many of the group ordered them – and had big smiles on their faces. I had a chicken burrito filled chock full with grilled chicken, rice and beans. Also got a homemade beef tamale – nothing frozen. As we ate the place got more and more customers. The waitstaff was upbeat and pulled food out as quickly as they could. They have TVs so we watched a lot of games during the meal. Would highly recommend this place. Oh and there is actually a Carmen!

Providence Wine BAR – Menu with Prices – 485 Angell St, Providence

My wife and I are from NY/NJ, grew up with jewish delis, and so we’ve been wanting to check out Mercers. We had a delicious sunday lunch. We split a pastrami on rye and and order of latkes. The latkes were tasty, and served with apple sauce and sour cream. The sour cream was seasoned, which i thought was nice touch. The pastrami was perfectly warmed, not dry, and had great flavor. We got house made sauerkraut on the side, which I could not stop eating. It was finely shredded, and had light and subtle taste to it; not too salty or overpowering. Perfect with the pastrami. I encourage anyone reading these reviews to go and check out mercers for yourself. Totally surprised to see bad reviews; i personally think most of them are untrue, unfair, or just from lunatics. Just to address a few based on my experience: the ordering process was clear and efficient, the prices are appropriate for high quality house made food with a focus on traditional craft, everything was fresh. Oh and the hours are 11 to 7 and 10 to 5; they are a specialty deli catering to a brunch/lunch crowd, so to the guy who gave them one star for their hours without ever even going, thats messed up dude.

Esseni Studio – Menu with Prices – 247 4th St Ste 410, Oakland

I personally only trust myself with taming my brows, but after today I CAN trust Lyn with my brows! She did a FULL BROW TRANSFORMATION for me and it turned out better than I expected. The last time I threaded my eyebrows was about 2-3 years ago and I remember it being painful to the point it made me tear up. I’m not sure what Lyn did differently, but it didn’t hurt as much as I remembered. She walked through every step of the brow transformation with me and every step had me SHOOK. The more she worked on my brows, the more I saw the potential in my brows, brow-tential??? Before filling in my brows, Lyn ASKKKEDDD me how I usually like my brows done (dark, light, natural). She didn’t go running with how she wanted them to be done. She took into consideration my preferred brow style! I’ve always had a hard time filling in my brows, but Lyn gave me lots of tips and tricks that I’ll now be using. And not only did she did she snatch my brows, she snatched my face with some light bronzer and blush. I initially wasn’t going to do anything for the day, but once the brows were done, I needed to be out and doing things for everyone to see her work! I honestly am so happy with my brows and definitely trust with. She also has other services that I have yet to experience, but I believe that she is just as great. Other: Her booking is easy and quick! Something I really liked is that the booking app she uses will remind you the day before about the appointment — I forget everything so this was helpful! Lyn is super sweet and nice. I felt very comfortable with her. I think this is very important because you don’t want want to feel uncomfortable when someone is touching your precious brows! I came in on a Saturday morning at 11 am and got lucky to find street parking right across the street. If you come during a busy hour, try parking at the Jack London square public parking and scooter or walk over. By the time I left, there were many cars roaming around for parking. Overall: 5/5 rating!
