Pros: Great service, fast drive thru, actually healthy!! For me finding something like this is a huge bonus because I travel so much and at the end of the day I just want something fast but not “fast food”. I had the zoodle bowl and it had great variety of greens, etc. Cons: It lacked… zest. I know that sounds weird but it wasn’t very well put together. Just kind of blah. I could make that at home for wayyyy less of the price. So in conclusion: It’s pretty expensive for what it is, but sometimes that just means they’re doing sustainability right and sacrificing the price on the menu for actual real food. Which is good. I just think the food could be upped a little in overall taste. However, great pick if you want something healthy, and fast!

Fusion Lounge – Menu with Prices – 6915 Dixie Rd #4, Mississauga

My boyfriend & I have been regulars at fusion for quite sometime now, the staff is amazing. The service is even better. Ive been to the other sisha lounge in brampton just to see the difference and fusion was by far a better option, heck we left after 30 minutes & went to fusion instead. I was there about 2 weeks ago now & when we went to get up and pay I literally fainted and fell to the ground. The staff was awesome, the owner sat with me ans explained that it was ok and its happened before because of course I was embrassed. As soon as I woke up theyre was a pop in my face and the owner did not let us leave until he felt like I would be okay and I just wanted to give a huge thank you to the owner and the staff at fusion lounge for theyre outstanding service everytime. This is always my go to spot to hang out with friends. 10/10 recommended

Halal Gyro Express & Kebabs – Menu with Prices – 3730 N 1st St #150, San Jose

[4.04/5] I get around. By that, I mean I’ve been getting around restaurants for lunch hours. What I look for is the perfect mix of protein, veggies, and carbs without breaking the bank. Weekday lunches are key to staying healthy and disciplined for whatever diet/fitness/fiscal plan you’re on. With all of that said, that mindset brought me to Halal Gyro Express. Review #062 Restaurant Type: Fast Casual. Food (65%) Taste to price 4.5/5 Quality to price 4.5/5 Portion to price 4.5/5 Average = 4.5 Service (20%) Friendliness 3/5 Promptness 4/5 Average = 3.5 Cleanliness (15%) Bathroom n/a Dining area 2.5/5 Kitchen area 3/5 Average = 2.75 Overall Score = [F(.65)]+[S(.20)]+C(.15)] = [2.93]+[0.7]+[0.41] = 4.04 The Pluses… + Nice, visual MENU. As soon as you walk in to order, you’ll see a huge colorful menu hanging up on the wall. Even better? The images are of their real dishes so there are no surprises. What you see is what you get. + Superb VALUE. I like to keep my lunches around $10-$12 so naturally my eyes will gravitate towards the entrees within that price range. By process of elimination, #7 1x LAMB TIKKA, 1x CHICKEN TIKKA, w/ RICE & SALAD is my go-to since it has a little bit of everything. At $10.99, that is a steal of a deal. There so much to like about this dish. Flavorful and packed with lots of Afghan spices. + They didn’t have to do this but I found it a kind gesture of them to bring the food to you instead of yelling the number out at the counter for you to pick it up. The Negs… – Could be cleaner. At times when you walk in, there are people’s leftover trays and plates on the table. The staff tries their best to keep it clean but it gets so busy they don’t get the chance to. – The FOOD TEMP could be hotter. It’s happened more than once, so I’m pretty sure it’s how they intend on serving it. – Not really the restaurant’s fault but the PARKING can get packed during lunch hours. I’ve seen people park on the Nicholson and walking over so you have to factor that into your time. In Conclusion… “Express” would be the perfect word I’d use to describe a restaurant like this. There’s a NY feel to it but at the same time, it’s embraced the Silicon Valley culture. The concept is simple. You go in, order your food, and go out. All set. Mission completed. No frills, thrills, spills or hassles. What you see is what you get. For that reason, Halal Gyro Express has become one of my go to restaurants for lunch. #ChowYouLater **If you enjoyed my review and need help with the Bay area, follow or add me as a friend. I have tons of reviews like this.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe – Menu with Prices – 9524 Antioch Rd, Overland Park

This spot has been several things just in the decade I’ve lived behind the shopping center. I really hope this one sticks. I have been scoping out the more local healthy spots recently in preparation for the “lose weight” New Years resolution. I am super stoked that within walking distance of most of my favorite donut shops, there is now a smoothie bar. I ordered the orange ginger smoothie for some pep and I was not disappointed. One sip and my eyebrows went straight up towards my hairline. The smoothie should be renamed to Hello Ginger! But I love ginger and the ginger is why I wanted it (recent joint pain). So I am super pleased with my choice. The ladies working the counter were super nice, super fast, and my favorite part: they cleaned as they went. Nothing speaks more to my senses than people who know clean as they go. And smoothies especially because once smoothie debris starts to dry, it congeals like glue. The place still feels new so keep encouraging people to clean as they go otherwise the spiffy newness will go away real fast. I don’t want my healthy options to not feel so healthy anymore. If the restaurant and employees are not clean, then I have no reason to believe the ingredients are fresh. So…keep it up and I’ll see y’all soon!

Snap Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 1325 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia

I absolutely love Snap Kitchen. Purchased the ground bison from there(not sure exactly what the title was) the week before last for lunch and loved the size, taste, and ease of reheating. No doubt these meals are fairly expensive but if you are someone like me who is on the go all of the time and spends tons on fast food anyhow it’s not that bad. I’ve been trying to get back in shape for a while but being in a two person household it’s hard to cook a variety of healthy foods without throwing away leftover ingredients. After purchasing the lunch I went on the website and saw they were offering 40% off the first week of a meal plan. The meal plans are highly customizable whether it be the amount of days, what meals you want per day, etc. I went ahead and ordered the lunch and dinners for Monday-Friday. Every meal was delicious and some were downright phenomenal (naked beef, turkey chili). I could go on and on, but for someone who likes to be active, is always busy, wants to eat healthy but doesn’t necessarily want to cook, this place is a godsend. I was able to make my caloric goals every day last week while still eating a variety of delicious meals. Thank you Snap Kitchen!!!

REDWHITE Japanese Vegan – Menu with Prices – 294 Newbury St, Boston

Verdict: pretty delicious fast casual in a prime location fitting a niche of healthy / vegan food that isn’t currently served in the Back Bay area. 1 star- ambiance. It was pretty empty when we went around 6pm on a Friday evening but the interior was well lit and cutely decorated with brightly painted wall murals and tatami-mat-style seats. The music was all acoustic Miyazaki film scores which was fun. 1 star- taste. Excellent tasting bowls with really fresh ingredients. I will say the look of some of the “sauces” aren’t that appealing but they tasted great — the monk curry and the spicy both added real zest and kick to the veggies we got, and the green beans, tofu, mushrooms, etc. of our veggie toppings were all fresh. 0.5 star- value. At $13 per bowl with really no real hefty protein (some tofu), the price is a bit steep…but you are on Newbury St. I suppose. 1 star- service. The guy behind the counter took the time to explain how the menu worked and otherwise, the staff were courteous and quick. 0.5 star- innovation. Japanese food isn’t known for being super vegan-friendly — even the most veggie-heavy dishes are often topped with tobiko or bonito flakes — but I found the food here yummy and interesting enough. No flavor pairings that blew my mind, though.

aSIANA FOODS – Menu with Prices – 755 S Lemay Ave D3, Fort Collins

My daughter and I went today for the first time. She got the sushi burrito with salmon and I got the chicken adobo with steamed rice and veggies and miso soup. My daughter inhaled her burrito! She said it was so good and she loved the sauce that was in it. I enjoyed the chicken adobo. I wouldnt say that it’s authentic but almost seemed like a healthier version that I really enjoyed. I feel that the prices are fair…Ive seen reviews saying its not worth what you get and I would disagree. It was a very large serving for the chicken with sides and the sushi burrito is close to size and price for one you could get at king soopers, except at king soopers it usually sits out all day and here the owner makes it fresh! The point I feel like the restaurant is trying to make is healthy, fast asain foods and that is exactly what I got. So if you want healthy, fast, asain food then this is your place. Would have taken pictures but I was too hungry and devoured it all…lol

Leafy Dreams – Menu with Prices – 7909 SE 13th Ave, Portland

If you like clean healthy foods at a very fair price, stop into Leafy Dreams in Sellwood. When you come to the window, you are greeted by Heather and a huge inviting smile. Before you order, be sure to ask her what she baked today. Today, it was gluten free Strawberry Hand Pie. The hand pies looked so yummy but I resisted and ordered the Breakfast of Champions. Before looking at the photo of this healthy fresh amazing breakfast, Just look at the plate itself, yes that is a real plate, with a real fork, wow! You can sense that Heather and her husband are new business owners with a dream, kinda like the name of the place. The area in the back of the trailer is a work in progress but it has a fire pit, tables, and they appear to be working on the gardens. The entire resturant and seating area has got potential written all over it and I am confident these two young entrepreneurs are going to dial it in. They even said they had live music the other night!

Ishoni Yakiniku Menu with Prices 10630 NE 8th St, Bellevue

Food : 5/5 Price : 5/5 Service : 5/5 Ishoni Yakiniku is definitely one of my favorite place for good Wagyu. It is hard to find Japanese Wagyu in the states due to trades and what not. Ishoni does not disappoint with good Wagyu selections. The A5 Ribeye is probably my favorite thing to get. Granted, it is not for single person consumption, but man, it is just amazing! 100% recommend sharing that with at least 1 other person. The fat that melts in your mouth in such sweetness, it is awesome! The cow tongue, great tenderness, and excellent flavor. Honestly, one of the best Japanese restaurant around town. As mentioned, it is hard to find real Japanese Wagyu in the states, the price is honestly very good. It definitely is not as great as if you were at Japan, but still not a bad price point for having the experience here on the state side. The A5 is certainly the most expensive thing on the menu rating at $160/lb or $10/oz. The last 4 times I’ve been there, they were roughly 10 oz cut at most. The staff is always friendly, and relatively fast. Considering there only about 8 grill going at any given time, staff is able to pay closer attention to everyone. There is a time limit which IIRC is 90 minutes. However, unless you’re in an Izakaya in Japan, once you’re done eating, you leave. The location is a little small, but that’s okay that it’s similar to lot of shops in Japan as well. 100% recommend Ishoni!

Union Barber Station – Menu with Prices – 3590 Redondo Beach Blvd, Torrance

First of all, the owner Rico is very dedicated to what he does. He’s a great barber and always does a great job. I had been looking for a great barber for the past 3 years since I moved to the South Bay, and FINALLY found one. I followed him when he opened his shop, and he did a great job. The fades are always neat and clean. His lines are always tight and for the quality of the cut, is very fast. I don’t mind sitting on the chair for awhile to get a good haircut, (my last barber took about 45min-1hr per cut), but it’s awesome that you can sit and be done within 30 min WITHOUT sacrificing the quality. You never feel like he’s rushing to get you out. A beer, water, mineral water, or soda comes with your haircut which is awesome!! He also has gels and different products in case you need it. A one stop shop! They accept walk-ins but I’d definitely recommend calling the shop if it’s your first time, and schedule something. You will definitely be back!!

Mad Town Gastropub – Menu with Prices – Dane Country Regional Airport, 4000 International Ln, Madison

You should avoid this place. I should have read the YELP reviews. I always read the YELP reviews. But I had luggage and, well, it doesn’t matter I should have read the YELP reviews and listened to my Spidey Senses tingling. The menu has no prices. That’s because to eat here you need about $50 per person, I am not exaggerating. I know what airport food costs, this place is expensive by airport food standards. This place is more expensive than Rick Bayless in O’Hare and at least that food is good. The waitress was lackadaisical but acceptable. I’m sure she’s used to horrified patrons seeing their bills and stiffing on the tip. The burger was okay but so not worth the price. $4 upcharge for fries instead of potato chips. The evening I arrived in Palo Alto I ate in an upscale elegant hotel and my bill was about the same. Just don’t even think about this place even if money means nothing to you, give the $50 to charity.

Baskin-Robbins – Menu with Prices – 5510 5th Ave, Brooklyn

I didn’t know employees could even be this bad. Imagine coming in when there is no line and it taking them 15 minutes to make your stuff because theyre talking to their friends at the counter.

Red?s Giant Hamburg – Menu with Prices – 2301 W Sunshine St, Springfield

Now…I wanted this place to be a fantastic rendition of the old Red’s from yesteryear. Unless something changes dramatically over time – it will have to remain a wish. Lets start with the positives: 1. Building/exterior signage resembles the original location. 2. They did excellent in paying homage to the original owners and Red’s original location. Many of these pics are beyond excellent. 3. The general atmosphere of the place; though not like the original place. The place however, is a good contemporized version fitting for today. Other Upsides: The chili/coney sauce was pretty good. I didn’t have a actual coney dog; so I cannot comment on it. I had the small bowl of chili. Also, they have this Red’s sauce to dip fries in. This sauce was also very good. A nice balance of flavor; that didn’t taste like Thousand Island dressing…but better. Now for the downsides: The burger and fries are so-so at best. If you’re going to center your place around a burger and fries….something better be real good about your product. The meat is not particularly good. The fries…though fresh cut….the kind of potato. The kind of oil used….have these fries tasting dry and not much taste. As you’ll hear others say…the food came to our table barely warm. Fries were fairly cool to cold. It’s a small extruded fry…which doesn’t take much to cool off I’m sure. But use twice the warming bulbs; something. Cold food never bodes well for a restaurant. Conclusion: To go and enjoy the novelty of the place. To have some reasonably priced food – that won’t knock your socks off by any means – but is ok food. And you’re not taking someone here to impress them with this past gem of yesteryear. Keep expectations very modest…the place is worth seeing…or even going to from time to time.
