Come here not just for an incredible meal, but for a beautiful, communal feast experience. The thoughtful intention from the hosts to invite guests to share in Ohlone history and appreciation of traditional (and utterly delicious) Ohlone foods is special in a way that I’ve never experienced at another restaurant. We came for their Thursday tasting and we now want to come back for everything they have to offer. It was crowded when we were there, but their attention to each guest made us feel included and cared for beyond a typical restaurant service (again– this is a full experience, not just a meal!). We heard about the history of the Ohlone people in the Bay area, and the significance of that day’s ingredients. Every single dish was absolutely amazing, made especially so by the knowledge that there’s no way I could collect and cook this selection of foods at home. Worth every penny. Logistically, check their website ahead of time to learn which days and hours they’re open as they only serve set-menu meals that start at certain times. To enter, you have to go through the bookstore at the same address to the back, but they’ll have someone at the front to direct you where to go even though it’s pretty straightforward. I don’t think they publish the set menus ahead of time because they’re dependent on what’s in season and available that week, but when we went everything they served was gluten-free and dairy-free, and they had vegan options for everything. I also recommend going asap before they get even more famous, and more crowded.

Alakea Delicatessen – Menu with Prices – 201 S King St, Honolulu

I still like the food a lot here, but have decided to take my business elsewhere… They have a buy 10 get the next free promotion. When you get your punch card, that’s pretty much all it says and that the free meal can be no more than $7.99 in value. First, I went in with my ouch card completed with a coworker and thought that I would pay for her meal and get mine as the free one from the promotion. No, that is not allowed. You can’t buy someone else’s meal and get yours on the promotion. Whatever, so that time I paid for both meals. Then I go in a few days later by myself to claim my free “eleventh” meal and now they’re telling me that there are only two meals that I can choose from that qualify for the “free one”. Again, these rules are not posted anywhere and are not on the punch card. So, I ordered one of the two. Then I go in a few weeks later and I ask for another punch card. Same deal, no additional rules posted anywhere or printed on the card. NOW, only certain meals qualify to be counted on the punch card. Geez, why even bother! Basically, I was brushed off and told, “that’s how it is”. It’s this treatment that bothered me the most. I will be spending my money elsewhere, even if they don’t have a punch card promotion.

Petro Stopping Center Menu with Prices 8500 E I-40 @, Lakeside Dr, Amarillo

I spend a lot of time here. Not a bad truck stop, but parking can be a problem some nights. Guess that’s like most places these days. They do have a security patrol in the lot. I often eat at the iron skillet here. Depending on what time you arrive the buffets usually pretty good. they have a promotion you can sign up for two by six meals get the last one free. Only problem I really have well then. Is they were supposed to cop me a meal for my last meal on the program. They charge me for it anyway. And refused to make it right. They say it doesn’t show up in the register I showed him the transaction on my bank account. And they still won’t make a right. I’d advise not using a credit card here. Pay cash only. Somebody that works in a restaurant knows a way to steal from your account and not show up on the register. And the management does not want to address this issue.

Snap Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 1325 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia

I absolutely love Snap Kitchen. Purchased the ground bison from there(not sure exactly what the title was) the week before last for lunch and loved the size, taste, and ease of reheating. No doubt these meals are fairly expensive but if you are someone like me who is on the go all of the time and spends tons on fast food anyhow it’s not that bad. I’ve been trying to get back in shape for a while but being in a two person household it’s hard to cook a variety of healthy foods without throwing away leftover ingredients. After purchasing the lunch I went on the website and saw they were offering 40% off the first week of a meal plan. The meal plans are highly customizable whether it be the amount of days, what meals you want per day, etc. I went ahead and ordered the lunch and dinners for Monday-Friday. Every meal was delicious and some were downright phenomenal (naked beef, turkey chili). I could go on and on, but for someone who likes to be active, is always busy, wants to eat healthy but doesn’t necessarily want to cook, this place is a godsend. I was able to make my caloric goals every day last week while still eating a variety of delicious meals. Thank you Snap Kitchen!!!

Three Leaves Foods – Menu with Prices – 2484 W 3rd St, Santa Rosa

I was referred to Three Leaves Foods by a friend. At first we thought we would just try one week of meals, and only pick up now and then. But, we cannot imagine passing up this wonderful food service, now that we have tried it, and, especially considering the fair price they charge. It has already saved us money, in addition to being the healthiest yummiest food EVER. We have enjoyed all of the 3 weeks since joining, and hope to never miss a week, although, we only have to order on the weeks we want to. I have digestive and chronic pain issues, along with other health problems. I have not been consistently preparing meals, let alone healthy meals. My Husband works more than full-time, and is my caregiver. He is a great cook, but can only do so much with what little time he has left after his other daily chores, etc. Because of these facts, we were eating processed foods, fast food, and restaurant food most of the time. Until we discovered Three Leaves, that is! Now, I look forward to each weeks new menu. I do not feel so overwhelmed planning my weeks meals. I only need to prepare a few meals per week, while being able to get several meals from the Three Leaves weekly offerings, and use other things they include to stretch my groceries. We have not eaten out once since starting the service. Three Leaves Foods is a Brother & Sister team of amazing Chefs. Together they prepare fresh and healthy foods, varying the menu each week. On Thursdays, my hubby, or myself, pick up our yummy dishes for the week ahead, while returning the empty jars from the previous week. Gourmet, healthy, fresh, and gluten free, heat and eat meals that taste better than any restaurant. NOTE: They are a CSK (community supported kitchen), that sources fresh organic seasonal foods locally. Nothing compares! When we stop in to pick up our order (easy to do each week, online) we have also picked up some delicious homemade Kombucha. We both love all of the food, and I am feeling improved health. I also have a wicked sweet tooth, and must add that the paleo desserts are to die for! Oh, and the sauces and soups are incredibly fresh and amazing. We never want to go back to our old way of eating!

Fit4u Healthy Food & More – Menu with Prices – 13925 SW 66th St, Miami

Absolute worst meal prep company I have ever ordered from. If I could give 0 stars I would. The man who handles the delivery and I assume preparation of the meals was extremely rude. I texted (the number on the website) him my order which he confirmed and when the meal was delivered it was all wrong. I called and he argued with me that the meals were not incorrect even though it was in writing and he confirmed the order. I emailed and texted him twice the address to my house and asked him to please deliver it to my work (which I also provided the address for) if the meal was not going to be delivered by 8 AM because no one was going to be home to bring the meal inside my house. The driver showed up at my house anyways at 10 AM. When he finally arrived to my job it was 1:30 PM although I only work 15 minutes away from home. The man I spoke to on the phone also argued with me that the address to my job doesn’t exist. 3 meals were also delivered to me at once when the website says they deliver daily. When I told him that, he said that wasn’t true, they only deliver twice a week. I asked for a refund and he refused to give me ANY refund although the website specifically says that they give a partial refund. I screen shotted the website, he read my texts (according to read receipts) and ignored them. I will never order from here again and I will never recommend this place to anyone.

EE Home Cooking – Menu with Prices – 43689 Mission Blvd, Fremont

As of writing this review, I have been to EE Home Cooking twice. The first time was when I went for take out. When I walked into the restaurant, I was amazed by how clean it was. The waitress was also very friendly. Very quickly, it gave me a good impression of this place. I visited this place with my family again, except this time it was to dine in. The customer service was exceptional. We came about 45 minutes before closing time, but the waitress reassured us that there was enough time for us to eat in. After the waitress took our order, she came back really quickly and gave us a bowl of Cantonese soup – FOR FREE. Although I understand that it may not suit everyone’s eating style, its the thought that counts. A lot of restaurants out there don’t usually offer you a free dish, so it was really nice of them to do that! The waiting time wasn’t that long. We ordered 4 dishes, and they ALL arrived within 10 minutes. I think the food quality was great! Part of it may have been because I am ABC (although I also enjoy many different kinds of food that are not Chinese). So, if you’re looking for some great Chinese food, this would be a great place to go. The price seemed reasonable – we spent around $51 for 4 dishes. When we left, we were full. Like I said before, this place was really clean. I was also impressed by how well the restroom was maintained – it was so clean that it could be compared to that of a home bathroom. Its rare to see a restaurant that has such an exceptionally clean restroom. In the very end, this place has certainly earned my respect.. Compared to other places, it is evident that this restaurant has went above and beyond. With that, I have decided to become a regular. I would totally recommend this place to others! Did I forget to mention that its right across from Ohlone College? So if you’re an Ohlone student looking for a great restaurant or Chinese food, you’re in luck!

Chef T’s Garden Grill – Menu with Prices – 1525 E Gary Rd, Lakeland

I’ve been obsessed with this restaurant since I first dined here about a year ago. The food, the ambiance, the people, the history all make for a dining experience you can’t get anywhere else around here. The food: I’ve never had a single thing here that I didn’t absolutely love. I’m a picky eater, so that’s saying a lot for me. I’ve tried many new foods here as well and they’ve all been delicious so far. The ambiance and history: The fact that you get to enjoy such unique, delectable dishes in the house where Lawton Chiles spent many days as a kid gives the experience a historical significance. The dining rooms are set within the home’s original layout, so it’s easy to imagine the memories and lives that were shared here. The people: The two people I’m most familiar with are Chef Terry and Sam. Enough great things can’t be said about Chef T. Not only is he incredibly talented, but he’s very personable and down to earth as well. Sam is the waiter that we’ve had every time we’ve been here. At first, I didn’t think he was very personable, but boy was I wrong. The thing about Sam is that he isn’t fake and he won’t flatter you in hopes that it’ll lead to a good tip. If you expect an adulator for a waiter, Sam isn’t your guy. I think that’s what I like most about him. He’s real. And he has such a wonderful personality. Honestly I think that’s one of the things that makes the experience so memorable for me; I know that I’m getting an authentic experience with authentic people. This is my absolute favorite place to eat and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t been here before.

Stay Fit Meals Menu with Prices 3550 Stine Rd, Bakersfield

I will never go back to this place. I had signed up for 40 meals and 20 desserts. When I signed up the guy I signed up with told me there was no expiration date but I should try to use them within a year and I can come pick up my meals whenever I want if I don’t want to take them all at once. I obviously did not want to take all 40 meals. So the first time I took 4 meals and 3 desserts. Since I travel a lot I don’t come every week. When I came back the second time to get my meals some weeks later he had lost my paper that shows how many meals I picked up. He asked me how many I had taken. So then he started a new paper and I took another 4 meals. Then recently I went in again to get more meals and he couldn’t find my paper and said everything expires in 45 days and they throw their papers away. I told him no one told me it expires in 45 days because I wouldn’t have payed for that many meals because I know I wouldn’t be able to use all of them up. I asked if he can show me the paper that I signed where it says I have 45 days. He showed me a sample of the paper and I told him I wanted to see what I signed cause they could have just recently changed the policy. They could not find any of my paperwork. I payed around 260 for all my meals and if you are going to take that kind of money from someone you should at least keep their paperwork in your system for a year. I know very well I would not pay 260 dollars for meals I need to finish in 45 days because I wouldn’t be able to use them all. They are really unprofessional and keep no track of how many meals you have taken and have no system. They Just just keep a file and then they loose that file as well, if you can’t keep track of your customers you should not offer meal plans. I would rather go to another place where they have some kind of system. I only got 8 meals and my 260 dollars went to waste.

People’s Choice – Menu with Prices – 1431 NW 31st Ave, Fort Lauderdale

Never judge a book by its cover… My family & I have been traveling across Florida for years and so far it has been quite a task trying to locate an authentic Jamaican restaurant with deep roots planted in recreating those delicious meals our grannies or parents used to make on the coal stoves back home. I must say I have now been proven wrong as People’s Choice truly passed my expectations and fulfilled every fiber of our beings. As we say back home, ‘Dem likkle but dem tallawah.’ The food tun up ’til it buck! We had a table of 8 and we all enjoyed all the variety of meals we craved for all day. Thanks to the chef, Junior and Toni for the remarkable and unforgettable experience we had. Our Sunday dinner away from home was the best Jamaican meals we’ve since coming to Florida. We will value this experience and hope that all who enter its door after we leave today will truly be as gratifying as ours. Thanks People’s Choice. Keep up the exceptional work. We wish you all the best in the upcoming months and years. Many your baskets always be full. May all your tables be filled to capacity. May your customers leave with bang guts like we all did. I writ this whole still seated at the table with the itis fully consuming our entire bodies. We love this place. We wish you all the best as you continue to embark on your journey to ensure quality foods are being made in your kitchen.

Canevari?s Delicatessen & Catering – Menu with Prices – 695 Lewis Rd, Santa Rosa

WOW is all i have to say. I was in SR for two days for a work event and ate at Canevari’s both days!! I got the meatball sub both times and i’m still craving it now! The bread was not soggy at all (kinda how i imagine a meatball sub to be) It was perfectly toasted and the meatballs and sauce were just perfection. The building has a mom and pop feel to it and when you walk in it really feels like an authentic Italian spot. Very clean and the employees are all super nice. The owner came and sat with us when we finished our meal and asked how we liked everything and we talked a bit about the history of the place. All in all if you live in SR and haven’t been here you really are missing out! Oh and the mini cheesecakes are to die for! Will definitely be making my way back next time i’m in the SR area. ?

The Writer’s Block Bookstore & Cafe Menu with Prices 3956 Spenard Rd, Anchorage

I’ve been down to this place several times since they’ve opened up a couple of years ago. The Writer’s Block Bookstore & Cafe is a fairly new establishment that has taken the place of a demolished adult bookstore. Many of the residents were thankful for this move and the place has improved the quality of the area along with newcomer Kingfisher Coffee and Out of the Box down the street, attracting the coffee shop crowd and families on the weekends. Even though the place is considered a bookstore with a limited selection of different genres on bookshelves covering the surrounding walls, the place also offers live music and other social events to keep the place busy throughout the week. The employees here are super-friendly and always a pleasure to converse with. The seating area is cozy with plenty of armchairs and tables for reading, studying, or conversing with friends, but can also be cramped when crowded. Wi-Fi here is fast and secure, but you will be hard-pressed to find an outlet in the area with two tables, one in the middle and one by the pick-up counter for use, a minor issue at best. The menu here is versatile with a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, or dinner items listed. A small chalkboard displays a list of food specials that change periodically depending on what the kitchen can come up with to surprise diners. On a recent visit last weekend, I ordered the Ukrainian Borscht Soup, an item featured on the chalkboard which intrigued me since I never had Borscht soup before. I also ordered a 20 oz. Iced Americano with some sugar-free caramel and heavy cream from their espresso bar. The soup was absolutely delicious with chunks of tender cubed beef, sliced red beets, and a spoonful of sour cream for added zing to the spicy broth base. The Americano was refreshing with heavy cream adding a thicker texture to go along with the caramel syrup, a great combination. The overall atmosphere of the place is laid-back and relaxing which encourages people to stay for awhile and is popular with college students who can be seen studying at different times throughout the day. I mentioned on a previous visit to the owner that vinyl records would boost the business considerably to go with their inventory of books. I’m sure that gave her something to think about and on my latest visit, it was a pleasant surprise to see one for sale from a local band. It’s a good start. Hopefully, they can expand that to more choices if the records sell. I also believe that this can place would be an excellent setting for a Yelp event for those who enjoy book discussions or settling down with a cup of coffee and conversing with other Yelpers. In any case, this bookstore/cafe was something Spenard really needed and is the first step to changing the surrounding neighborhood for the better. With the number of people stopping in to visit on a daily basis, the future looks good for this relatively young business.

Phit Phuel Northeast – Menu with Prices – 9840 Dyer St, El Paso

Although they had previously given me an issue, the customer service I received in person was excellent. I went ahead & placed my order online or me to pick up in Sunday. Once I arrived to pick up my order….my order was incomplete. They bagged my online order of over $100.00 incomplete. I had ordered about 20 meals, and my bagged order only had what looked to be 10 meals. The employee searched to try and make my order whole, and turns out, some of the meals o was missing in my order, WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE, they no longer had. What is the point of ordering online and allowing me to choose my desired meals, if you aren’t even going to ensure that your customers’ meals are accurate. Nothing against the employee, she tried to make right for the mistake that the business made. You need to start paying more attention to your orders
