Hoi Polloi has been on my radar for quite a while, and WHAT A FEELING when you finally get to check out a spot that has been on the list for two years. Let’s talk service. OMG, Jorge was the man. Right when my boyfriend and I walked in, he was on it with the greetings, charisma, and knowledge. I’d go back for him! They don’t sell taster options, but you can get a full or half pint–whoot. Their beer list is extensive, so I’d suggest going half-size-style until you taste the rainbow that is Hoi Polloi’s selection. Jorge explained that the history of Hoi Polloi’s brewing started right in their Berkeley tasting room. But demands kept increasing, forcing them to move their brewing efforts outside of their taproom to meet the needs of the beer-lovin’-people! So when you visit the taproom, there aren’t any tanks or production tools out. We tried their POG sour ale (very juicy, awesome mouthfeel–I hate sours with a passion, and I’d drink this. Not a lemon-puckery taste at all), Red N Black hazy IPA (my favorite!), Bernia IPA, Fundraiser IPA, People’s Park PA, Helles Lager (for my people who don’t want something strong, but are also looking for crisp and refreshing), Scotch Ale (quite good! go for it if you want something different), and nitro stout. MAN are they killin’ it with the hazy IPA’s–giving Barebottle and Fieldwork a run for their money. They have such a list for the millennial drinker, with all of the things that are “trendy” from hazy IPA’s to sours and a solid nitro. Thanks for the yummy flavors, Hoi Polloi. Plus, they have strong wifi, consistent themes, a clean unisex restroom, and USB chargers–just bring your cable! What’s better is that Jorge the GOAT serves up a hot bowl of truffle oil popcorn (AND free refills without you having to ask) once you get your drink on. Everybody knows popcorn and beer are such a great combo. Live beats don’t spin as often anymore, but they spin on “party nights” like Friday/Saturdays I believe.

At Ease Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 1825 I St, Sacramento

“At Ease Brewing” Is A Fantastic Brewery In Midtown! SITREP Or as my colleague and fellow Yelper Tammy P. likes to say, “A Tease Brewing” (It’s all in how you space your letters *cough*) ? Talk about a total win for me: there’s a new brewery only two blocks away from my front door that just went *online* over the 2019 Memorial Day Weekend. THE SETUP “At Ease Brewing” brings a lot of refreshing taste variety to enjoy – from the current menu since Memorial Day: * Buck Sergeant Brown – a Brown Porter (6.1% ABV); https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/at-ease-brewing-sacramento?select=YFvzhYoKHN7scvPkn5NTpQ&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w * Black Hawk – a Black Saison (6.8% ABV); * Top of the Line – a Lemon Coriander Wheat (6.1% ABV); * Full Battle Rattle – a Pale Ale (5.9% ABV) * Army Brat – a Brut IPA (7.5% ABV); * Fog of War – a Hazy IPA (6.4% ABV) Each is refershing in their own way, and I enjoyed a flight with all of them. You can pretty much set up a flight in any ounceage configuration that you like: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/at-ease-brewing-sacramento?select=PXMcL5G6XsFARpDv8yUnXw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w In general, the pricing is pretty consistent for all of them: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/at-ease-brewing-sacramento?select=hReOMr96oCFjTBfh3Sa1iw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w A. A Pint is $6 (Hazy IPA is $7) B. 8 Ounces is $4 (Hazy IPA is $5) C. 5 Ounces is $3 (Hazy IPA is $4) D. 32-Ounce growler is $10 (Hazy IPA is $12) E. 64-Ounce growler is $16 (Hazy IPA is $18) MY FAVES & GROWLERS Like I said, I enjoyed all of them. But you really put your money where your mouth is when you decide which one you want to put in a growler. “At Ease” has a wonderful contemporary 32-ounce for $30 ($40 incluidng a fill up of your fave brew). https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/at-ease-brewing-sacramento?select=Hoomes50SC7jsYAt9gn64g&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w But I was also able to recycle a couple other growlers I had sitting on top of the fridge which i used: = For a fill up of the Buck Sergeant ($10); and, https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/at-ease-brewing-sacramento?select=rnYl1AEQGFf4fnQSFOGURg&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w = For a fill up of the Army Brat ($10). https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/at-ease-brewing-sacramento?select=AFHGWYz6rKg8pgfQnuuqdg&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w I’m set for some wonderful brew tasting the rest of the week now. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/at-ease-brewing-sacramento?select=F3aG0_DnsRqERktRPlsdQw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w COOLEST TAKEAWAY: Your growlers get their own dog tags. ? https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/at-ease-brewing-sacramento?select=AFHGWYz6rKg8pgfQnuuqdg&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w And speaking of dogs, this brewery is pooch-friendly and has watering stations for them on the back patio. THE LOWDOWN A enjoyable and refreshing Midtown brewery you need to check out!

Stemma Brewing Company Menu with Prices 2039 Moore St, Bellingham

So I’m going to be honest here: I am a wussy IPA drinker. I don’t like bitter beers that taste like you’re chewing the hops flower, and I definitely don’t like ones that have the faint taste of cannabis. Unfortunately for me, that 3/5 of the beers on tap, but if you love really strong and bitter IPAs, this place is for you. It’s not my thing, but people love them, and they apparently do them well. That being said, the amber is deeeeelish and I really enjoyed the nitro milk stout. And when the two of them got knocked over and too hot to drink, they generously refilled the soiled beer. The space is big and open, and there are a few tables to sit outside in the parking lot. There is a bit of parking, but I could guess that it’s going to be crowded, because it’s a really nice place to just hang out. Service was friendly, and while it was a fairly older crowd on day 3, I’m sure it will be a hopping place sooner or later. Get in to try the beer as soon as you can!

1st Ward Beverage Company – Menu with Prices – 820 E 7th St, Charlotte

I was meeting someone here to do a beer trade. I had no idea this place existing before agreeing to meet here. So while I am waiting I am checking out the beer menu and the singles list. It took 10 minutes for the bartender to even acknowledge me as she was more interested in talking to the locals. But once they left she seemed a bit more interested. I didn’t really see anything in the draft list that I hadn’t had before other than the Tropical Torpedo from Sierra Nevada so I went with that. The bartender started a conversation of what I liked to drink and we got on the topic of sours and she pointed me to a few sours they had in stock. It’s not a huge beer bottle selection but they do have some nice surprises in the sour department and a few hard to find beers that were still there. They also sell wine, mixers, cups, and some small food items. The beer prices are decent, a little cheaper than some other bottle shops. The are 4 parking spaces reserved for the shop and it sits on the first floor of the Quarterside apartments uptown. So there’s probably additional parking around here somewhere. So after my beer trade was over, I found a few goodies here to take home as well What starte out slow, turned out to be an enjoyable experience. I will remember this place for the hard to find items.

Night Lizard Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 607 State St, Santa Barbara

Night Lizard is my favorite local downtown Santa Barbara brewing spots. The atmosphere is really chill – high ceilings, lots of seating, natural light, low music, and hosts an overall good-vibe friendly crowd. As expected, you can also find books to browse and read at your leisure about nature, california, lizards, poetry, and the art of brewing. But the coolest thing about Night Lizard, aside from their super dope logo design, is that each of their brews is named after an endangered species from the Central Coast of California, and 10% of all proceeds are donated to aid in conservation efforts. How rad is that?! The drink menu caters to (craft) beer lovers – but I totally appreciate that they think of non-drinkers too. Ever have tea on nitro? Kombucha on tap? Topo Chico? — Give it a go. Bartenders are more than happy to share samples and make recommendations of their favorite brews. Still not sure? Try a flight! Still haven’t actually ordered food here, myself, but from what I have seen – it looks tasty. Maybe next time I’ll try the artisan popcorn. In case you were wondering – they do have gender neutral restrooms! Be sure to check the calendar for fun upcoming events – like Competitive Mario Kart Racing, Trivia, or a Succulent Workshop.

Craft, A Modern Drinkery – Menu with Prices – 4603 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson

This is truly a haven for craft beer lovers. They’ve got a massive tap list of all kinds of IPA’s, stouts, porters, lagers, blondes, sours … or whatever else that seems to be made with hops and barley. And that doesn’t include what they have in the beer fridges. You can choose one from the fridge and drink it on site (they will charge you two bucks for this) or take that or a growler of your favorite tap selection to enjoy at home. Not only do they have this humongous selection of brews, but the guys behind the bar really seem to know their stuff. They’re obviously passionate about what they do as they can spout characteristics of your chosen brew if you ask. They’re perfectly willing to let you sample anything you like. You can choose anything from a five ounce pour, up to a pint. The way cool glasses are marked with measurement to ensure the pour is on point. The space is sleek and and comfortable with TV’s at the hightops against the wall to let you play old school video games. They sell only snack type food (think popcorn) but every time I have been there has been a food truck there if you’re looking to nosh while you imbibe. This has quickly become a go-to spot for gatherings with other craft beer crazies. They’ve surely captured my attention.

Grindhaus Brew Lab – Menu with Prices – Hercules Space Center Industrial Park, 1650 N Hercules Ave Unit I, Clearwater

I love this place, it’s small and dark and they have great beers. Some of the beers they make are just off the wall great. My friend and I stopped in to waste some time, what better way; Drinking! On the wall are cool old movie posters and sometimes they have theme nights. I saw that they are having a Big Lebowski theme from May 1-3. They make beers to coincide with the theme(white russian stout) and have the Movie playing on a screen above and to the left of the bar. This trip I got the Cinnsastion or something, it was a cinnamon/ chili porter that was great. Good flavor and smooth drinkability. My Lady got the Graf XB-001, which is a cider beer hybrid. I tried it and man it was good. She said i could get into trouble with this beer! The other half of the Lab is a beer brewers supply store and they have all the essentials for brewing you could need. They also have kinda a snack bar with like pizza and nachos but I’m always there for the beer. Oh yeah they have a old style popcorn popper to get you thirsty again for more beers, tastes just like movie popcorn. Do yourself a favor and come be a Guinea pig at the Brew Lab. The Dude Abides…

Growler Grlz – Menu with Prices – 4810 Hope Valley Rd STE 110, Durham

Definitely worth stopping in here and enjoying a drink on their patio! We came with our dog, and every single person who worked there was excited to meet her and pet her! The beer list was good, though a little heavy on IPAs (about 20% of all the taps). However, the wheats, sours, and ales we had were great. I talked with the manager a bit, and she made me excited about all the beer they’ll have on the taps on a few weeks. She clearly has a passion for ordering and serving good beer. It’s almost fall, and she listed several tasty pumpkin beer options. Make sure to try Randy’s pizza next door, it goes great with the beer! It’s small inside (dogs highly encouraged to come inside), but there’s plenty of space outside in the warm weather.

24 South Coffee House – Menu with Prices – 24 S Front St, Wilmington

I love it here! Multiple choices around the area for coffee but I come here for specifically for my caffeinated beverage of choice. Nitro Cold Brew! I typically judge nitro brews against Starbucks as I personally feels they have been very consistent in the quality of their Nitro Brews. That being said, the nitro brew here is smoother and had a slightly lighter roast taste when compared to Starbucks. They also have it in a 24 oz which is awesome!! The store itself has a nice ambiance and the staff have always been friendly and accommodating. My wife has other coffee drinks here which have tasted good when she had me sip on them. Unfortunately, I don’t know the types of coffee/espresso they were lol! Definitely stop by for the Nitro Brew!!

Deep Ellum Funkytown Fermatorium – Menu with Prices – 611 University Dr, Fort Worth

So it just occurred to me that I never wrote a review for this place, so here you go: I was here for the grand opening day/week and essentially stopped by after work every day. The free beers at the time maybe had a little something to do with my decision to visit everyday, but either way, the food & beer are amazing! Anyone that lives in Texas knows Deep Ellum Brewing so when I saw a new location was opening up minutes from my office, I had to visit. First off, the pizza here is fire. During the first week, I had tried the Calabrese, Quattro Formaggi, Piggie Smalls, Soppressata, Prosciutto, and Texas AF. If you love cheese, go for the Quattro because it hits; the mozzarella, provolone, ricotta, and parmesan give you that perfect cheesy melt in your mouth. Piggie Smalls was really good too, but Texas AF has by far been my favorite. The brisket & BBQ sauce make it, it’s just so flavorful. In regards to the appetizers, make sure to try out their Fried Goat Cheese and Loaded Mac & Cheese. If you couldn’t tell already, I like cheese. Also, their wings are delicious too (I’d pick either Buffalo or Dallas Blonde BBQ). For the main attraction – BEER. BEER. BEER. As I mentioned, they had free beer during the first week so I essentially tried out everything. My go-to is the Dream Crusher, which is a double rye IPA. It isn’t as heavy as many IPA’s normally are but the taste is on point. Also good is the Easy Peasy IPA, which is a session, or the Play Date, if you like sours. I’ve been into hazy IPA’s recently so if you’re like me, go for their in-house brew called the Manic Confidence. It’s simply amazing. I’ve heard good things from other patrons regarding the Belgian Squeeze, Chido Bandito, and Dallas Dimwit. Next time I’m in, I’ll be trying all of those…and more probably. If you’re a fan of the OG Deep Ellum, make sure to stop by here or drive from across the state to try them out, because it’s worth it. There’s nothing like a nice, cold brewski in your right hand. Or left hand.

Larder of East End – Menu with Prices – 147 Julius St, Pittsburgh

Pittsburghâ??s beer scene is impressive and I was quite pleased with the different breweries I experienced when I visited the city in support of my Great Beer Now beer blog. Each had its own appeals and one of many memorable breweries I visited was East End Brewing. At East End Brewing, guests are treated to about 14 different beers on tap. I tried many of them and rated the Green Giant IPA and Rescueberry Shake, a milkshake IPA, as my three favorites. They put a good deal of effort into brewing the finest beer possible and the craftsmanship shows in every serving.East End Brewing features a large taproom with assorted seating, a pinball machine, and other extras. They have outdoor picnic tables for use when the weather is favorable and itâ??s common to find food trucks on site and itâ??s easy to find parking. Oh, and if you want beer to go, you can get a growler of draft beer or grab packaged beer from the fridge. They are kid and dog friendly, too. East End Brewing is a cool place to hang out and it once again proves something that is obvious when you visit: Pittsburghâ??s craft beer scene is on the rise, and it can now easily compete with some of the best beer cities in the nation. So be sure to swing by East End Brewing when you visit Pittsburgh. Youâ??ll be glad you did.

Tai Tea Orange City – Menu with Prices – 1315 E Katella Ave, Orange

Such good customer service! Read on… Was passing through the city, craving a cold drink and popcorn chicken and saw that this place had good reviews on Yelp, so the hubby and I stopped by. Cute little place. I ordered the strawberry lychee tea with basil seed and hubby ordered the popcorn chicken (medium spicy) special with Thai tea. The popcorn chicken was so good!! It was piping hot and crunchy, nesting in a bed of deep fried basil and spices. I would probably get mild next time, but even though my nose was running, I couldn’t stop eating it! It came with a sweet chili dipping sauce, but I didn’t even need it! I had a sip of hubby’s Thai tea with half sugar– it was tasty and creamy! My tea however was so bitter (half sugar) that I couldn’t drink it. I suspected it was because they used the same tea base for their drinks that had non dairy creamer, which would have helped distill the bitter notes, so I told the cashier. He said that I had ordered half sugar, which is why it was more bitter. I asked if he could just add more sugar to my drink, but then he said he would make me a new one, and I could keep the old drink! I asked him to dilute the tea with more water and do 75% sugar. He even brewed a small sample for me to taste test before he made the full drink! The drink was much better the second time around– a light tea taste with lychee and strawberry notes! If we are in the area again, we will definitely stop by!

Enjoyacorn-Gourmet Popcorn At Its Best – Menu with Prices – 3460 W 79th St, Chicago

I ordered the popcorn on line without ever sampling the corn, I ordered based on the reviews, When we received the popcorn it came in a “beef frank” box, with a hand written address. The size I ordered was large with a price range of 20-30 dollars I can not remember the exact price, to be sent to Tennessee. What they sent was a disgrace to any size business or company. There was half a French fry and a small package of Pepto Bismol in the box. The large bag of cheesy and Carmel popcorn were smashed to fit into this “beef frank” box. The Carmel and pecan popcorn could fit into the box, but both of them together just crushed all of the popcorn. We did taste the popcorn, and it tasted pretty good, but because the bag was smashed I was scared to eat the rest of the popcorn. Needless to say I will never order from them again. I think they do not know the meaning of presentation, presentation means everything. We end up throwing all of the popcorn away. This sounds like a joke, but unfortunately it is not!! We just received this on July 2,2018.
