4.5 stars. Not the most legendary, but for East Coast style pie, it lives up. If you’re an East Coaster, and when I say East Coaster, I really mean northeasterner, the pizza scene out here is eh to fine. Yeah, you have the likes of Cheeseboard, but we don’t consider that pizza, more like a flatbread. Yeah, you have delicious neopolitan pies like Lucia’s, but again, sometimes you just want a regular pie. Nick’s has been our go-to, with their California twist, and we still got love for it, but Emilia’s hits it home. Emilia’s has been on my radar since moving to Berkeley a few years ago. Mystery calls and wait-times, weird hours, these legendary Yelp reviews… We finally got our sh*t together, and called at 4pm. We had to call a few times to get through and the earliest pick up was 6pm. It’s one dude. He picks up the phone, he makes the pizza, he takes your money. He’s listening to the Yankee’s, he’s not trying to get to know you, but he’s making some good NY style ‘za. For the most part, Emilia’s lives up to the hype and wins the best traditional style pie I’ve had while living it up in Cali. We went with the regular and the Gina Calabrese and it was so delicious. Nice crust, although a little chewy at the end, great toppings – not overloaded with cheese or sauce, letting that salty sopressata really shine thru. $20 for a regular pie and $26 for the meat. They really only do a few different toppings, so if you’re looking for a Hawaiian, or goat cheese and corn, this isn’t the spot for you.

Pizza Pazza Wood Fired Pizza – Menu with Prices – 207 E Alameda Ave, Burbank

I’m not being dramatic, literally the best pizza we have EVER had. We had been on a mission for two hours to find a great pizza place and none of the places we saw were really giving us a grand feeling. There was a small little building as we left Trader Joe’s and my husband saw the word pizza. He decided we’d eat there. Best decision of our lives. I’m so glad we got to eat here before their lines are wrapped around the block because not only is their food out of this world delicious, but the people that work there, I believe it may be a family, were so kind, warm and attentive. We originally sat at one of their cute little romantic style tables, but I love heat, so I wanted to go sit by their great brick oven. Great decision! We had already ordered a pizza before we moved and as I sat at the counter, he pulled out a giant calzone! We were definitely oogling it. Well, he kindly asked if we wanted to make our into a calzone and we said yes! Such a great decision. Melty, oozing cheese, fresh toppings and perfect sauce with the best crisp dough. Most delicious pizza ever. They even gave us samples of their traditional dessert, it was great. Don’t forget to try one of their regional sodas! They serve beer as well, salads, pasta, home cooking…so it’s a well rounded pizza spot. We plan to eat here a LOT! Don’t second guess, just go!

A Pizza House – Menu with Prices – 2625 Colby Ave Ste 6, Everett

I’m kind of amazed this place has such high quality pizza since everything else about the place is cheap. This is a small casual place in a seedy part of Everett, next to a 24-hour convenient store that sells mostly smokes and alcohol after dark.  Their pizza has generous toppings and tastes fresh and homemade and is Greek style with meats under the cheese. For seating they don’t have much, and nothing for groups over 4 people.  They are popular for take out.  Pros and cons: Pros: High quality pizza for good price Lots of menu choices besides pizza such as gyros, calzones, chicken wings, hot subs Lots of pizza toppings available, traditional toppings plus chicken, BBQ pizza, taco pizza whole pizza or pizza by the slice (i’ve never seen slices at night, so they might just be a lunchtime option)  parking is good friendly fast service Cons: no seating for groups larger then 4 people no fountain drinks, they do sell soft drinks in bottles and cans from a self-serve fridge salad dressing tastes like cheapest store-bought dressing

Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N’ Bake Pizza – Menu with Prices – 2920 N Power Rd Suite 103, Mesa

This is my new favorite pizza place. A pizza, made to order. You take it home and bake it. What’s so good about it it? It’s fresh, you get to choose what toppings go on it, what crust thickness and size. You can also decide whether or not to add cheese like I did, and if you do decide to skip the cheese like I did, you would replace it at home with fresh mozarella balls to make it more authentic! (Or to help somewhat with intolerance to yellow cheeses!) I ordered my veggie pizza and took it home. Baked it to perfection (by following the instructions they provide you with he pizza, along with a coupon for next time, yeah!) and had it for dinner with my husband. I used the fresh mozzarella which worked really well and was very delicious. The most convenient thing about this place is that the somewhat paper tray the pizza comes in can go into the oven! What! Who was the genius who thought of that?! I was worried the pizza won’t fit on my pizza stone at home but this solved the problem! It’s convenience at its best! The place is pretty popular. Within a minute of arriving at the store and just while parking and getting out of the car, 4 ppl were ahead of me! Wow! The family veggie pizza comes out to around $17. Not a bad deal for such a large delicious pizza! Definitely going back!

Amici Pizza – Menu with Prices – 2023 W Guadalupe Rd, Mesa

I was very impressed as someone who grew up in jersey this is as close as I have had to east coast pizza in Arizona. I wish it was a little thinner which is a common problem here with places that think they are serving by style. It’s like someone taught pizza wrong in Arizona and the problem has persisted. Clearly they are using east coast ingredients you can taste it. I think these new owners have the right idea they are doing it right I highly recommend trying this place if you are looking for my pizza. They did a nice job on the remodel everything is very clean and it’s the only pizzaria that serves coke. On the east coast it’s a crime to eat pizza with a Pepsi. Try the cannoli if you want proof this place is legit. I challenged anyone to find a better cannoli in Arizona

Industry Pizza – Menu with Prices – 2075 Pine Ridge Rd, Naples

The long await is finally over and was glad to hear they are finally open. I decided to try them out for lunch today as they serve a Ny/New Haven hybrid style pizza and Detroit Style Square Pizza. These are the same owners that run and operate LowBrow Pizza in East Naples. If your familiar with LowBrow then you will know these owners take their pizza seriously and only use the freshest ingredients and top quality products. The inside is small and tailored to a quick in and out takeout theme, but they have 5 or 6 barstools that you can eat your slice inside. They serve slices and whole pies along with salads, sodas and beer at a reasonable price. The inside atmosphere reminds me of LowBrow with the eclectic decor. There is a nice toppings bar in the middle of the restaurant perfect for your slice. They’re using high heat brick gas ovens and it doesn’t take long to cook these pizza’s. I ordered the “Roni” pizza slice with pepperoni, ricotta and mozzarella and it was delicious! The pepperoni is the real highlight here and no grease drip. Simply phenomenal! I then ordered a whole pie half “Roni” and half “The Plain Cheese Slice” which was not so plain as titled. It comes with mozzarella, Parmesan and caciocavello cheese which was also quite delicious! The service was great and met one of the owners, Chris who was quite cordial and you could see he really loves his craft. They do deliver through Bite Squad and have an app you can download to make ordering easier. I definitely recommend this place and what a nice addition to Naples!

Pronto Pizzeria – Menu with Prices – 669 Sterling Lyon Pkwy Unit 1, Winnipeg

This restaurant uses the subway model of preparing food. You have many choices for pizza, the basic is $11 for unlimited toppings, while those who can’t decide can choose from regular favorites. The dough is available in many varieties, gluten free, low carb, whole wheat and others. Sauces are regular, hot and pesto. The toppings are many and fresh and you can choose any combination. The only thing I found is that the regular sauce is too salty. It overpowers the pizza. The crust is great, light and crunchy, the toppings fresh, but the heavy salt actually drowns the flavor. It even burns the edges of your mouth. I think they may be following a trend popular on many pizza YouTube channels, using a simple pizza sauce that is just a big can of Roma tomatoes, basil leaves, and a quarter cup of sea salt. I’m sorry but that’s too much. Pronto should take a savory lesson from the movie “The Godfather”. Cut back the salt. Add a bit of sugar and a splash of red wine, or balsamic vinegar.

World Piece – Menu with Prices – 109 W Stone Ave Suite A1, Greenville

I was looking for deep dish pizza [National Deep Dish Pizza Day (April 5)] in Greenville, and I’m pretty sure World Piece is the only one. So a cool fact, a lot of pizza sauce is made out of Roma tomatoes. World Piece uses plum tomatoes from California for their sauce. Though I’ve visited Chicago before, I’ve never had authentic deep dish pizza. So for my first time, I loved every little bit of it. The buttery flaky crust followed by a layer of cheese, toppings ( pepperoni, ham, sausage, bacon), topped with their homemade sauce. This had to be the best pizza I’ve ever had. What I enjoyed the most is how the toppings complemented one another. Another thing I enjoyed is the pizza wasn’t too salty. They also have good jumbo wings!!! I got garlic parmesan. I liked how the wings was in an actual garlic parmesan sauce and not a rub. They have a laid back atmosphere, and would definitely be a good hangout place. They have some awesome craft beer on tap. I definitely recommend, and would go again. (This an edited review based off of my Hype review)

Marion’s Piazza – Menu with Prices – 3443 N Dixie Dr, Dayton

You have to understand something to ‘get’ Marion’s Pizza. Marion’s is the vanguard of a specific style of pizza home to Dayton, Ohio, progeny but distinct of Saint Louis-style pizza. Dayton pizza uses a virtually unleavened cracker pie with no crust and cut into 1′ by 1′ squares, all like Saint Louis pizza, but unlike Saint Louis, Dayton uses traditional cheese rather than the controversial provel cheese used in Saint Louis. Note that provel is pretty expensive because it is only used for Saint Louis pizza, thus low and disjointed supply chains, and most dislike the taste relative to traditional pizza cheeses. The Dayton formula is wonderful and Marion’s is the best of it. Their supreme and deluxe offerings are packed with seasoned Italian sausage to be complemented by fresh oregano bits that jump off the heated pie. Pizzas are served piping hot on a cardboard platter that can double as a serving tray. Each Marion’s location is in a relatively traditional space, classic and timeless, with old school arcades and beverage counters rounding out a tile and brick room. Marion’s recipes compete against the best from New York and Chicago; this restaurant’s locations are a MUST VISIT for any foodie. I visited from Houston most recently, a town known for its restaurants, and would found a Marion’s franchise here if the mothership were interested. It is well worth a day’s trip from Cleveland, Louisville or Indianapolis. Simply the best.

Pizzeria Madre – Menu with Prices – 111 Wellington St, London

We all know London has an abundance of pizza joints. Some good, some bad, and some are down-right ugly. But I don’t think there’s ANY pizza joint like Pizzeria Madre! If you find yourself on Wellington Street, hankering to grab a pie, do yourself a favour and drive past ALL those other pizza places and make a stop at the bright white sign that says “Madre”. You did it! You just found the best pizza London has to offer. The atmosphere at Pizzeria Madre is bright and clean with minimalist, mid-century decor, white subway tiles and house plants galore. I absolutely LOVE the neon “madre” sign at the back. It just adds so much flare without being over the top. I love it! They have lots of small plates to choose from and a wide variety of Neapolitan-style pizza on the menu. All baked in a wonderful smelling wood-oven. From a regular margherita style pizza with sauce, cheese, and basil, to a more complex leek and bacon style pizza, there is something for everyone to enjoy and the interesting flavour profiles are worth exploring. We ordered the margherita and the calabrese (without olives). I regret getting take out for 2 reasons. 1) I would have loved to hang out in the ambiance here and 2) by the time we got home, after a quick stop for a bottle of wine, our pizza was cold. That’s no matter cause it was absolutely flipping delicious. I don’t think I’ve ever had a pizza like this in London. From the cheese to the sauce to the toppings, and the crust, oh lord the CRUST! Every bit of our pizza was delicious. I cannot wait to come back here. They have lots of local beers on tap and a small side room for larger groups. It would be a great night out to order a bunch of different pizzas and share them among good friends and good beer or wine. Don’t let the area fool you, SoHo is the spot for the finest pizza in #ldnont. Get there now! You’ll be glad you did!

Totally 80’s Pizza & Museum – Menu with Prices – 1717 S College Ave, Fort Collins

(After posting this review, they did reach out to me about sending me another pizza to make up for the last experience, but sadly I do not live in the area, so I couldn’t take them up on that. I do appreciate the follow-up!!) Totally Bummed. Only experience with this place was a delivery on a Thursday evening. Our order was placed and received at 6:25pm, and we didn’t receive our order until 7:50pm. The delivery estimation said 50-70 minutes, this took 85 minutes, and it’s just a weekday. It was also just one 1 pizza and 3 garlic twists…not a huge order. Another miss was getting marinara instead of the ranch that we ordered on the side, and there was no sauce on the pizza itself. We ordered a regular pizza expecting there to be the usual tomato sauce, but there was none, just cheese and toppings on bread. The last disappointment would be the minimal toppings, from the picture on the menu they have on yelp it looked like a generous amount of toppings, which was not reality, so that was a bummer. The positives – the pizza was still decent, and the garlic bread twists were alright.

Eataly Pizza – Menu with Prices – 3651 Sycamore School Rd #100, Fort Worth

The flavor of the pizza and toppings were awesome. It a bit to get used to some of the terminology being Italian based menu but the guy at the counter was kind enough to explain the differences in the pizza options. I selected a Siciliana Which is a square deep dish and got the meat lovers without chicken and double pepperoni on half. I was pleased that they didn’t skimp on any of the meets and the pizza came out cooked properly, not soggy or burnt like some places. My only slightest gripes were that the cuts weren’t all the way through so a few slices got the toppings ripped off as you lifted them, and the crust was a tiny bit tougher than I’d have liked, but that could just be due to the thickness of the Siciliana vs the other style pizzas. It smelled great, and I could barely hold off getting the pizza home, I really wanted to be selfish and eat the entire there right there on the spot, it was very very good. Keep in mind for people who don’t care for greasy pizza you may have to try one of the other styles, they may possibly be a bit different. I love somewhat greasy pizza and it wasn’t overly done or just soaking through the box, it’s just a warning don’t wear your favorite shirt unless you want it adorned with some great pizza smells. For the size pizza that I recieved, it was enough for a regular family of 3 or 4 aside from the fact I’d happily gorge myself to eat it alone, and the pricing was fantastic .

Kelly’s Little Nipper – Menu with Prices – 1701 E Grand Ave, Des Moines

My wife and I have been coming here for over 20 years. Not regulars, but 4-5 times per years. Some people will pass by thinking it’s a regular dive bar. No it’s not. It’s a cross section of the entire east side. Many cultures and languages all just out for a fun day/evening. We always meet someone new. Always have a great Italian sausage or tenderloin. Most times leave best friends with someone we wouldn’t meet input daily lives. Seriously a gem amongst local bars. Always leave saying it was great. Leave pretension at the parking lot and enjoy!
