Did NOT have a good experience here. It’s crazy to read all of these 5 star reviews because this place was anything but 5 stars for me. I was looking for a new place to try for lunch and saw that this spot had empanadas and salads. I can’t remember the name of the café that was here before, but this place is still fairly new (maybe a little over a year old now). The interior is quite small but clean. When I walked up to the window, I noticed that the menu didn’t match what I had seen online. There were no salads or sandwiches aside from breakfast sammies shown. I asked the barista if they had a lunch menu and he said that the items listed were all that they had. Kind of frustrating since I came for lunch and not breakfast, but I made due with what I had. I asked him about the empanadas and also asked him what he recommended. He spoke highly about their breakfast croissant sandwich. I really wasn’t in the mood for breakfast but went with his recommendation since my options were limited. I almost got an empanada too but they were hella tiny! I wouldn’t mind paying $5 for an empanada if the size fit the price, but $5 for these small empanadas is just too much. I was also going to order a Chai latte, but the barista was honest in telling me that it was just a boxed brand Chai tea that wouldn’t be sweet. Who would pay $5 for a plain store bought Chai tea? I’m so glad that he was honest because I would have been pissed had they delivered that to me table. Unfortunately, I still ended up being pissed anyways. I ended up ordering a 12 ounce hot chocolate which I thought was still pretty steep for $4. I didn’t realize that the barista actually charged me for a large size. After looking at the receipt again, I realized that the prices listed on the menu didn’t match what was on the receipt. This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. It all comes back to the principle for me. Please make sure your menu actually matches what I’m getting charged! It always seems sneaky when businesses do this. So, I ended up paying $5 for a mediocre hot chocolate. I thought I would have better luck with the breakfast croissant, but that was also a disappointment. I took a bite out of the sandwich, and what do I taste? Eggs. JUST eggs. Naturally, I took it apart to review the contents. Um… where the f*ck is the ham and cheese??? There was literally a few scraps of ham and a few strands of cheese on this sandwich. And guess how much this lovely concoction costed me?? $7 f*cking dollars!!! But WHY?? I did purchase one alfajor which tasted pretty good, but again… way overpriced! I hate to sound like a cheap ass, but why am I paying $15 for this sh*t??? The sad part is, I didn’t even want breakfast in the first place. Even if I was in the mood for breakfast, this sh*t was not up to par at ALL. Just super expensive and sloppily put together. I was still hungry after eating this. I definitely learned my lesson. No breakfast for Shayla during a weekday lunch… especially if it’s coming from Café Buenos Aires. I most likely won’t be coming back here again.

Coffee Junction Menu with Prices 401 Harris Ave, Bellingham

The worst customer service I’ve ever had anywhere. I am not a complainer or even a fussy customer, but wow, for the first time ever I really was so pissed and offended. We got coffee here before our train trip. There was one barista; she was alone and busting her ass, so I gave her a 40% tip. After taking a couple sips of my coffee and having to open it and check to see if there was actually espresso shots in it (or if maybe she had forgotten them) AND having my sister taste it to see if I was just being a coffee snob, I brough it back to the barista to see if I could get a new drink, because mine tasted like water. She extremely rude and defensively said “it’s an americano… it has water in it.” I very politely explained, “yes, but it doesnt taste like coffee at all.” At this point she stopped making eye contact with me, said “what do you want?” Trying to not to be ‘that customer’ I asked for a drip, thinking that was a good deal because it was half the price. She didnt even respond to me, as she got it. I asked if it was ok if I still get a pump of hazelnut in it. She said “yup” still not looking at me, put the pump and a lid on it, handing it to me, I said thank you, then she told me it would be $1.90. This is where I started to get pissed. Clearly confused and upset I said “I’m sorry, you’re going to charge me…?” In a super condescending voice she laughed our, ” I cant just give you free coffee.” (Which she had literally just done, topping off the mans cup, in front of me). I tossed my card on the counter. She ran it and had the nerve to toss it back. I didnt have the time or restraint to give her a piece of my mind so I left. I will NEVER get coffee here again. Not because their coffee is gross, but because I have never experienced such hostility from someone when I’m nicely and apologetically asking for a replacement for an item I PAID FOR. Luckily all the train employees were fantastically nice and really redeemed the experience. But wow.

Jubilee Roasting Co. Menu with Prices 1452 Kenton St, Aurora

My boyfriend and I were recently in Aurora for the first time and wanted coffee/tea, so we ended up at Jubilee. The inside is super cute and was very busy; they also have outside seating. Between the two of us we ordered the ham&cheese croissant, cinnamon bun muffin, chai tea latte, coffee, and a specialty drink (I can’t remember the name). Food: The croissant and muffin were good – good sizes and tasty. Definitely get them both heated, although if you are sitting outside on an October morning they will get cold quickly. Drinks: I am not a coffee drinker, but my boyfriend said that this is probably the best coffee he’s ever had… and he drinks a lot of coffee! They have an option to do a bottomless mug if you plan to stay there, which is definitely the route to go. He did not do that and regretted it shortly after, so he ended up going back in to get the bottomless. I got the chai latte w/oat milk. Their chai is on the milkier side rather than spicy, but it is still delicious! The specialty drink I got was called the Camp Dance or something like that – a mix of chai and apple cider and spices steamed together. It is SO good and the perfect fall drink!! We love Jubilee so much we wanted to go back, but it is closed on Sundays.

Bjorn’s Brew – Menu with Prices – 2358 Foothill Dr, Salt Lake City

My Dirty Vanilla Chai was way way way too sweet. I requested it Dirty, the espresso flavor didn’t cut through perhaps because it was just too Vanilla. Thank you, next. The guy who took my order and rang up my card was also sweet but not too sweet, that was great. I was on my way to go hiking in Millcreek and wanted to grab a quick iced drink for a pick me up. I was craving sweet, but not too sweet. Matcha?? Oo…. would they have it? The curiosity peaked. The next thing I knew, I was pulling up to the drive-thru like an addict in need of their next fix. Matcha they do not have here. “No, but we do have Green Tea Lattes.” That didn’t sound like enough of a compromise to me, I wanted something stronger with bit more girth. How much caffeine does the chai have? “Not a lot, but we can add a shot of espresso to make it a Dirty Chai.” Oo… okay. So we went with the Dirty Vanilla Chai. The complimentary and cute dog bone shaped cookies are a charming little touch, I almost forgot about those. I like what this establishment stands for. So I took a chance. It didn’t work out. Speaking of things that didn’t work out. A few years ago, my ex would surprise me with drinks and breakfast from Bjorn’s all the time. I remembered I LOVED the croissant sandwiches. It was a symphony of warmth, gooey cheese, and toasted perfected. Years later, at some point along the way, the croissant sandwiches were just not the same anymore. The last time I ordered a croissant sandwich on my way to go skiing, half of the croissant was burnt and inedible while the cheese and ham inside were cold. I didn’t realize it until I was halfway up the canyon, and it was too late to turn back around. Heartbreaking. So I stopped getting them. I moved away. I almost forgot about this place. Now I’m back in area. The Proximity Principle is a blessing and a curse. I pass Bjorn’s everyday on my commute to and from work. Maybe some things are better left in the past. Maybe I should give it another shot. I don’t know yet, we’ll see what happens.

New City Cafe – Menu with Prices – 441 Parsells Ave, Rochester

This place is awesome! Not only is this a great addition to the neighborhood, the staff is friendly, the coffee (and chai!) is delicious, and the atmosphere is welcoming. This spot is more of a community space than a cafe. I found people of all ages coming through during my most recent visit – from youth group meetings, to friends grabbing coffee, and folks getting work done. Fridays are chai Fridays, and when the barista mentioned it, I had to go for it. My 16oz. chai was $3, which uses local blend from The Chai Guy. I opted for almond milk and it hit the spot. They also have soy and oat milk if that’s your style (plus all the regular milks too). I snagged some beans for home too. Their mix of roasts are some I haven’t seen around and was pumped to try their Zambia roast. They have some light food options too like bagels, muffins, wraps, breakfast sandwiches, etc. So I’ll be back to try a breakfast sammie and coffee for an upcoming coffee shop workday. They’ve got it all! Can’t wait to go back again soon.

De Frantic Monkey Café Bar – Menu with Prices – 799 College St #101, Toronto

I was thirsty after having lunch so decided to explore the area a bit and look for a place that had smoothies. I went on Yelp and I saw that De Frantic Monkey bar was highly rated even though it had 6 reviews. I walked in and was greeted by a very nice lady (I later find out that she is the owner) and asked me if I was looking for the drink menu. I originally wanted a fruity smoothie, but I saw the Golden Monkey Chai and the Indian Chai and being the Chai lover I am, I opted for that instead. I didn’t know what the difference was between the two so I asked the lady and she told me one was just normal black tea chai and the Golden Monkey was Chai Latte with Turmeric. I went with the Golden Monkey Chai as that sounded more interesting and it was a great choice! It was sweetened just the right amount and you could taste all the spices. I wished it was even spicier but will definitely go back for this again!

Ross Donuts – Menu with Prices – 64 Bell Rd, Montgomery

I did my research on donut shops in the area and found Ross had the best reviews. I made the trip and am so happy I did. I specifically went to try the amazing donuts. While I was chatting with the owner a timer went off on an oven. I asked what was in the oven, home made croissants!!!! In that case I needed a breakfast sandwich also. Ordered a ham, egg, and cheese on a croissant. Hands down the best breakfast sandwich I’ve had in some time, if not ever. The croissant was flakey and light, yum! The donuts were also amazing. Light, sweet, and just overall delicious. They were greasy or heavy. My intent was to eat the sandwich for breakfast and take the donuts on the plane to take home with me. Needless to say, that didn’t happen. All were fine before I arrived at the airport. The strawberry creme donut is crazy delicious. Oh and the owner is so nice, very kind man and obviously a talented bakery. This is a must try, you’ll thank me.

Willoughby’s Coffee & Tea – Menu with Prices – 194 York St, New Haven

Came here at 4pm on a Monday and it was surprisingly crowded. The staff was super efficient though and got through a pretty long line without much pain. The amelie croissant was great! I also got the chai latte which was pretty darn good. I find many places don’t do right by their chai lattes (I’m looking at you Blue State), but the one here was pretty good. Snagged a seat looking out the window with some decent people watching. Overall, a good experience but also nothing that wowed me, no latte art, no employee-customer interactions beyond the bare necessary, and the croissant in an unceremonious white paper bag. Obviously these are all very minor, but enough to not be a 5 star.

Doly’s Delectables – Menu with Prices – 245 E Broadway, Long Beach

I wanted some kind of breakfast sandwich type of food, plus something sweet. This place came up in my search, so I decided to try them out.During my research, it showed that they had macarons, which I was excited about. But when I got there, they didnâ??t have any macaronsâ?¦so, I ordered their Cream Puff instead. Cream puff looked like an ordinary one, but it had a crazy amount of cream filling! It was really decadent and tasty, but not amazing though.I ordered Cajun Chicken Sandwich for my breakfast. I asked if the sandwich can be made on croissant, and they said yes. A staff brought it out to me in a paper bag once it was made. She realized I was eating in, so she brought it back on a plate for me. It was quite large in size, which was great.I somehow thought it will be on hot/warm toasted croissant but it was cold. Later I discovered that they can make their sandwiches in hot-pressed panini style upon requestâ?¦ Oh well. It had a generous amount of chicken, not really spicy but had a small kick to it. Veggies were very fresh with nice crunchy texture. Even though it was cold, it still was nice and buttery, very flaky and fluffy.I was full after having half of the sandwich, so I brought the rest with me and had it for lunch. I enjoyed the sandwich, very tasty, well crafted, good quality and very filling. The price here was super affordable and the portion was great. The staffs were friendly and polite.

Patagonia Nahuen Cafe – Menu with Prices – 3802 S Ocean Dr, Hollywood

I have to say, for a small empanada shop that’s part of a chain, i have to give this little store & it’s employees props as to how they run their store. We came in on a sunday, to test out their empanadas and coffee. We ordered the little one a Turkey sandwich, and got the corn, spicy chicken, spicy beef, chicken quiche, & a cafe con leche. The spicy chicken empanadas had just enough heat, with flavor to boot. The spicy beef empanadas were delicious; spicy, moist, and packed with flavor. The corn empanada was definitely different, and worth trying if you like corn. The quiche was flaky and delicious. Savory, we ate it even though there was no need as we were already full. But it was delicious & it was a sunday so why not lol. My coffee was far more of an italian style than typical cuban, colombian, etc. Coffees, which is well preferred. It was perfectly balanced & delicious. The sandwich for the little one took a bit longer than expected, as they don’t normally make the type of sandwiches she wanted initially with turkey, so the made them super fresh. Where the above & beyond comes in; after realizing that the sandwich was taking longer than intended, they doubled up and gave 2 instead of the 1 we ordered. The cook came out from the back himself & also offered some fries to help put a smile on her face as well, which definitely worked. The employee’s demeanor & welcoming kindness put us all in a great mood. It’s nice when the employees care with real honest energy about the experience of their guests. Everything was fantastic, including all the more than helpful employees. A very special shout out to Juan & Omar who turned a cranky situation into one with service and smiles instead. We will be back, without question.

Butterfly Cafe – Menu with Prices – 2725, 212 Laporte Ave, Fort Collins

The Butterfly cafe is a small place near Civi Center park. I tried it for the first time today and all I have to say is “Wow!”. I had the croissant sandwich for breakfast and it was the highest quality from top to bottom, and delicious. The croissant was the best I have ever had in the United States. Buttery, flaky and soft, and the equal of anything I have had in Paris. Unlike other places, they do not skimp on ingredients. The avocado for example…it was actually ripe and instead of hard slices it was freshly smashed so it did not fall off of the sandwich. I am definitely coming here again.

Subway Restaurants – Menu with Prices – Little Creek Shoppes, 3858 E Little Creek Rd Space 21, Norfolk

Hated it went in with a good mood left without it. I went to order my sandwich and asked for my spinage to be added before it gets toasted [i like the chesse melted on it] to which the lady with the noes ring rolled her eyes i was confused but didnt say anything about it. She walked off and finished another customers sandwhich and when she came and set mine up i mentioned “the spinage will need to be covered cause it will burn” after seeing she placed it on its own side rather then under the cheese she snaps at me saying she knows and they dont ussualy do it this way then picked up all the meat and cheese and flopped them on the spinage side. I have PTSD from a incident in my teen years and at that point her snapping at me made my heart rate increase and i cassualy asked my boyfriend for the car keys to “get my phone” wich was just so i could go outside for a sec to calm my heart rate. Went back in and luckily he was done with her and handed me my cup i went over and was annoyed again seeing no tea of any kind i dont drink soda and reluctantly got viatamin water. Went to sit and eat unhappily i came in excited and happy to eat before going to the garden nearby but left in a less then happy mood i get it was easter and she probbaly didnt want to be there but the way she acts was NOT acceptable and made me not only have a episode but wrened my day.

Daily Brew Coffee House – Menu with Prices – 2955 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside

4 stars mainly because they don’t serve everything on the menu on their hours of operation. When they’re out, they’re out. It can be kind of disappointing because you will never know if they have it if you’re going there. I wanted their breakfast sandwich (out), so I opted for everything bagel with cream cheese. That was good. The hubs got their toast with homemade jam was really good. Thick toast with melted butter and jam… . The kid got vegan banana nut muffin and it tastes better than most vegan muffins I’ve eaten. These are 5 stars. The hubs got PB mocha blended and he said it’s one of the best. As a coffee hater me, I took a sip and I could taste peanut butter. If you’re a PB lover, you’re going to enjoy this (and you have to love coffee too!) I asked for blended spiced chai. Heaven! Yes I’m major a Chai critic. And this chai just added to my book list of chais. You love chai, give this a try. I haven’t tasted it cold or iced- just blended- not sure if it’s going to taste different. Cozy atmosphere too! A little crowded if you bring in stroller.
