This review is solely based off of the tacos. I plan on returning for the BBQ. Recently, my wife who is from Arkansas made me some tacos that she grew up eating. It was ground beef, with lettuce, tomatoes, onion, olives, shredded cheese and ketchup. It wasn’t bad, a bit weird (I am Mexican and when I think taco It makes me think of Mama hand making some tortillas with some delicious Asada) This is what Zaddy’s tacos are to me as well. Not bad, but not what you would expect a traditional taco to taste like. They look like a Mexican taco for sure. Let’s start off with the pros: The owner of Zaddy’s is an awesome guy. Really polite, seemed really down to earth and sounded like he loved what he does. The service he provided was no doubt 5 stars! Now the tacos. The meat in all 3 tacos that I had was cooked perfectly. Small juicy little cubes of steak, chicken and pork. The green and red salsa were killer, and the red had a nice little kick to it. The tortillas are also heaped generously with the meat! Out of the 3, I think the chicken was the best. Neither I or my wife were a huge fan of the seasonings used on the pork or steak though. Like I said, not bad but definitely not what we are used to but keep in mind the menu says Steak and Pork. Not Asada and pastor. The tacos 3.5 stars Service 5 stars Overall, not too bad. Cheap. Big portions. Will return to try other items and see if it was just an off day.

Taqueria La Fogata – Menu with Prices – 4623 S 33rd St, Omaha

This place is next door to Donohue’s Pub on L street. I will give this place 3 stars because the service was fast and the food was cheap. The menu is simple: tacos, tortas, burritos, and quesadillas. Meat choices include: Carne Asada Al Pastor Lengua Chorizo Tripe Barbacoa They offer $1 tacos on Thursdays after 5 pm only. The interior is sort of dated and even a little dirty. There are quite a few tables throughout. I know, these can sometimes be the really good places, right? However, the food was only OK. I ordered carne asada and al pastor tacos. The tacos are built with two street taco-sized corn tortillas, meat, cilantro, onions. They come with lime and salsa (red or green). The green (avocado) salsa is actually spicier than the red, which is not common. Overall, stop in on Thursday after 5 pm if you are in the area or next door at the pub. Otherwise, I’d make the trip to Taqueria Tijuana for tacos.

Taco King Food Truck – Menu with Prices – 4001 N Armenia Ave, Tampa

The Taco King Food Truck is located off North Armenia Avenue, North of i275, 1 block north of where Howard and Armenia merge, next to a Citgo Gas Station, McDonald’s, Advance Auto, and Dunkin Donuts. Although the Taco King Food Truck has set up permanent shop next to the Citgo gas station, there aren’t any picnic tables for sitting or eating nearby and it would definitely be nice to have. I was very disappointed that the Taco King Food Truck took the fish tacos off their menu, did not serve pulled pork, did not serve shrimp, and 2 of their tacos are only served over the weekend from Friday to Sunday. This left me with only 4 types of taco options including Al Pastor, Chroizo, Carne Asada, and Pollo. Since I’m tired of chicken and not a big fan of chorizo, it only left me with 2 options- the Al Pastor and the Carne Asada. Most taco places offer shrimp, pulled pork, flavored steak, and flavored pulled pork tacos. The Al Pastor and Carne Asada tacos were a bit on the small side and he marinade used wasn’t my favorite. The house made orange and green hot sauces helped make up for the marination short comings but the hot sauces were not quite as good as my favorite taco Food Truck Loli’s Mexican Cravings. Aside from tacos, Taco King Food Truck also serves Quesadillas, Burritos, Quesurittos, and Gringa Flour Tortillas. If you’re looking for a better taco food truck, I highly recommend Loli’s Mexican cravings with better marinades, more meat options, and better house made hot sauces. Loli’s Mexican Cravings is mobile though so you’ll have to check their schedule to see when they’re available. If you’re looking for good tacos in the same area north of the interstate I recommend Taqueria Emanuel off North Macdill and West Columbus.

Taqueria El Nuevo Perico #2 – Menu with Prices – 3702 E Chapman Ave, Orange

This taqueria is definitely delicious and authentic. The Carne Asada taco was very juicy and well seasoned and they use flour tortillas. The street tacos come with cilantro and onion on top with a side of grilled onion and radishes. I also bought the taco combo with carne asada (picture) which comes with rice, beans, and the onions. The Al Pastor taco (in the picture) was really tasty and juicy. The best part of this restaurant is that none of the meats were dry, but they’re a bit overpriced. However, the tacos are a bit larger than small corn tortilla tacos. There are definitely tastier tacos for cheaper if you’re willing to drive further out of Orange, but for a local, fast service taco, this is an excellent choice. There is also a lot of seating here and the place is large and clean, including a restroom.

Guapos Tacos Menu with Prices 2517 White Ln Ste C, Bakersfield

After a night hike at Wind Wolves I remembered several of my friends who had recommended Guapos tacos. Since I am hardly on that side of town I had yet to visit their location. We looked them up on Yelp and saw they were still open. The restaurant itself is very small but does provide some seating if you want to eat there. Since it was almost closing time we made our order to go so we wouldn’t be that “guy” I ordered the Asada torta, an Asada taco and 3 chicken pastor (Say whaaaa?!?) tacos. I loaded up on 2 of each salsa. Service was very friendly and quick. I was in and out of the place in about 7 minutes. When I got home I opened I up the containers and dug in. Torta was good , it definitely needed more meat in it. It also had a little too much mayo for me. Next time I’ll ask for it without. Overall very tasty. 4/5 Tacos- I should have ate the Asada taco first. Don’t get me wrong it was good but after eating the chicken pastor it made me regret not getting an additional chicken instead. I’m a huge fan of pastor and I know it’s made a variety of ways. It is traditionally made with pork so chicken pastor was a new experience for me. It was great! The salsas really kick up the flavor. I really enjoyed the green and orangeish salsa. The red I wasn’t a fan of. The only downside is that the tacos are 2$ a pop, and relatively small but it seems like everywhere you go now they are 1.25 plus. I miss the days when you get 2 for a 1$ Overall the food was good. I would say 3.5/4 ish borderline. 4 or more, raise the score .

Tacos Pipeye – Menu with Prices – 217 N Milpas St #3281, Santa Barbara

HOMEMADE TORTILLAS. I honestly should stop my review there, because that’s really all you need to know to go. But if you are still reading and want to know more, know that Tacos Pipeye has a wide range of different meat and vegetarian options as well as a variety of other Mexican food classics (i.e. sopes, quesadillas, burritos, etc.). Oh did I mention it’s 6 TACOS FOR $10? What a steal. All three meats I tried – carnitas, asada, and barbacoa – were incredibly juicy, flavorful, and fresh. However, the carnitas were to die for; sweet and savory, they were cooked to perfection. The tacos come without dressings, so you’ll have to stop at the salsa bar to fix them up the way you like. Definitely make sure to try their creamy green salsa! Parking it somewhat of a struggle, but trust me it’s worth it. The dining area is small and designed more for quick eating, but they have tvs in case you don’t want to miss the game while you’re running to get food.

Fonzi’s tacos – Menu with Prices – 891-839 H St, Modesto

I was in the mood for some good tacos and I saw that the reviews for this place were great. I ordered: one asada taco, one pastor taco, two chicken tacos, and one shrimp taco. I also got a nacho supreme? The nacho chips were stale and salty, I got asada for the meat because I was told it’s their more popular meat, and it was very salty. My daughter also found a hair in the nachos. As for the tacos, as stated before, the asada was salty, and the chicken was bland. My daughter wanted to try a shrimp taco, and it was too spicy for her to eat. I gave them three stars because the place is very clean and the prices are decent, but I’m not sure if I’ll be returning…

Tipzys Tacos – Menu with Prices – 3848 E Belmont Ave, Fresno

It’s ok. We tried a variety: Carne asada tacos: meat was kinda bland,my wife’s taco had burned bits. Chicken tacos: bland, no flavor really at all Shrimp tacos: my favorite of the three, but that’s not saying much. Carne asada quesadilla: my son said the one from Taco Bell is as good. Asada fries: crinkle cut frozen fries with mozzarella cheese and carne asada. Fine because we were hungry. Probably wouldn’t have rung bells if we weren’t starved. Chips – you get a basket of chips with paprika or chili powder on them. They are $1.25 and you don’t get anything with them. Don’t get me wrong, they have a salsa bar but they only had tiny little cups- like 2tsp – to put salsa in and wouldn’t give us anything bigger. Super lame, that. As far as the actual salsas- the pico was the best thing about this dinner. Jalapeños were tiny- good knife skills- so you got that yummy fresh pop of hot without it being overwhelming. The ancho chili salsa is good, my wife said the green one was good. The carrots looked gross, I didn’t get any. The cabbage was diced, which I thought was weird. It was also in a container filled to the brim with water. Maybe to keep the cabbage fresh but anything I put cabbage on (how I usually like my tacos) tasted predominantly like water. Not good. No fountain drinks, you buy by the can (or bottle for water) and drink it from the can/bottle. We didn’t have any beer. Murals were beautiful, the rest of the decor was dated and uncomfortable.

Mezcal Taco – Menu with Prices – 9500 Dallas Pkwy #200, Frisco

My wife and I recently watched a Netflix documentary series on tacos, and when we came across Mezcal tacos in suggestions we were in. When we first walked in the very first thing that hit us was the smell. Not the usual smell of taqueria, but a lingering sour odor of cigar smoke from the cigar shop next door. It was overpowering. Even at the end of the meal I could still smell it. I doubt it’s any fault of this restaurant, but it started things off rough. My wife ordered three small cantina tacos and some elote, I ordered three of their full size tacos (lamb barbacoa, al pastor and chicharron) and some chips and salsa. The chips tasted homemade but were a little thick, and the salsa was excellent and warm. Our appetizers came quick and we started chowing down. The entrees, however, took a hot minute. We were the only ones in the place, yet it took almost 20 minutes to get our tacos. There was a gentleman picking up a pretty sizeable to go order, which I’m sure had the staff stretched thin, but I would’ve guessed that we’d be in and out of a taqueria in 30 minutes, rather than waiting almost as long. My wife really enjoyed her cantina tacos, especially the Assad steak. The meat was tender, flavorful and hot. I had originally ordered one of my tacos on flour tortillas, but got them all on corn, and after waiting didn’t feel like fussing about it. The corn tortillas were soft, though a bit chewy, and had the telltale perfectly round stamped shape of non-homemade tortillas. Normally this would be a minus for me, but the tougher tortillas did a great job of holding juicy meat together. My tacos were hit or miss. The lamb barbacoa was incredibly tender, soft and juicy. Really impressively so. They simply lacked flavor, and was quickly overshadowed by their salsa verde that I threw in it (which is excellent). I had never had chicharron before, so I can’t compare it to other taquerias’ offerings. The al pastor, though. Y’all. It was bonkers. I should’ve just got three of them to begin with. The pork is soft with the perfect bits of crispiness. The avocado verde salsa tastes fresh and the pineapple really makes it pop. Hands down the best al pastor taco I’ve had. Very impressed. The tacos I ordered ranged from $3.19 to $4 something, which I thought was pretty steep, though I probably wouldn’t think twice spending $10 for three al pastor going forward. Overall a pretty average experience with some al pastor that was amazing. I’d go back, but I’d be hesitant to try more items on the menu. I gave four stars because I couldn’t give 3.5. This place has awesome potential, but just needs a little refinement for me personally.

Tacos los Plebes Menu with Prices 675 Danielsville Rd, Athens

Unpretentious counter service taco joint. In short, good value for decent food, though I think you have to figure out what to order, as quality varies markedly from dish to dish. I had the tacos al pastor and asada (steak). The steak taco was excellent – though you could tell the cut of meat was not of the highest quality, the steak was well marinated in a deep sauce with a slight spiciness, served with onions and cilantro in two corn tortillas (el Milagro’s I think) with generous portions for $1.99 per taco. The al pastor taco was not as tasty – it was overly sweet to my taste due to the pineapple chunks, which were soft and seemed like they were out of a can soaked in sugar water. I probably would have enjoyed the pork taco more without the pineapple. Two salsas are provided – a spicy red sauce and a green sauce (tomatilla base). The red sauce went well with the steak taco. I had a side of rice and beans (which is an extra charge, but still fairly inexpensive), which were mediocre and I would recommend avoiding. Rice was clumpy and overcooked and the beans were not very flavorful, topped with Chihuahua cheese. Service is pretty much non-existent, so if you need a refill on your water or anything else, speak up!

Taqueria El Poblano – Menu with Prices – 652 Broadway, Chula Vista

Yahoo! Sí, the street tacos here are very good! Muy Bueno y Ricos. For the time being, this Taqueria Food Truck is only opened during evening hours. 6 pm till 2 am daily respectfully. I arrived opening on a Friday evening and ordered two al pastor & two beef birria double wrapped street tacos at $2.20 a piece. The beef birria tacos were great, but one has to be careful because the salsa they put on the meat packed some heat. The beef birria was very tasty and even had a very nice aromatic appeal. I loved that it was juicy and tender, and they double wrapped the tacos. The al pastor tacos were delicious. The pork meat was well marinated and they cooked it very well. I liked that it was a mix of crispy pieces and tender pieces of pork. This taco came with chopped cilantro, white onions, and creamy guacamole that’s traditional with these particular street tacos in Mexico. Great stuff indeed. There’s no seafood at this truck, just carne asada, chicken, beef birria, and pork, not that there’s anything wrong with that. There’s a tent with table available. They have salsa available at the tables, and radishes, limes, and cucumbers at the truck. Service was friendly and Claudia was super helpful. I like that they bring the food to you at the tables.

Taqueria Sabor y Sazon – Menu with Prices – 2018 S Blue Island Ave, Chicago

Really enjoyed the tacos here but the hype about the tortillas and creamy green sauce left me disappointed. If you dine in, your meal will start with complimentary chips and three varieties of salsa. The salsas range in spiciness with the creamy green (jalapeño, tomatillo and sour cream base) being the mildest and the red packing the most heat from the red chiles. I love spice but preferred the flavor of the other green salsa best (think tomatillo and jalapeño with no sour cream). We all got tacos and tried the carne asada (steak), al pastor (marinated pork) and shrimp. All the protein was well flavored and free of excess fat. Dressed in cilantro and onions, the tacos were tasty but not mind-blowing. The tortillas also didn’t blow me away. They were better than store bought for sure but could’ve been better. Inside is small and set up to accommodate parties of 4 max. They’ll push an extra table over to make room for 6 because they’re nice. No liquor license for margaritas but you can BYOB and try the delicious horchata.

Antojitos Mexicanos Celaya – Menu with Prices – 6075 Winchester Rd, Memphis

BEST CHICKEN TACOS EVER! Seriously tho, that seasoning. Family run and awesome, this food truck, located outside Hickory Ridge Mall, doesn’t look much different from other food trucks around Memphis. But it’s so much better. I often see the mom of this Mom and Pop place in Kroger buying groceries for the food truck. She’s the reason we came- she encouraged me to come try their food since our favorite place closed. Hubby and I consider ourselves authentic Mexican food connoisseurs so we had to try some stuff from here. We ordered two chicken tacos, one chorizo taco, and a chille relleno. We were incredibly impressed with both the quality of the meat and the tortillas for the tacos. The chicken was wonderful. I am not sure if she used rotisserie chicken or spiced it herself, but it wasn’t the usual plain, grilled chicken that you usually get in other places. Here thar be FLAVOR! Also it tastes even more amazing with guacamole- which you can request on any taco. In keeping with their already set precedent of awesomeness, their chorizo taco was a whole new wooooooorld. I usually don’t like chorizo and actually told hubby not to bother giving me a bite unless it was extraordinary. And of course, it was. It wasn’t greasy or gross, but rather well-spiced and flavorful. Hubby only permitted me one sample bite before gobbling it all down himself. We ate our delicacies at the fold-out tables right outside the place and used the accouterments on the table. There is a plastic box of limes and a plastic box of onion and cilantro diced up into little pieces as well as napkins and salsa verde and salsa rojo. As normal, the salsa rojo was the spicier of the two, but for once it was also the tastier. I used both salsas on my tacos to try both and loved it. The chille relleno was also unique. Usually you get a whole green bell pepper (or whatever type of pepper they use) halved with the filling stuffed into each side. It’s usually pretty messy to eat. However, this one was fried in batter so everything stayed neatly inside and was easy to eat. It came with Mexican rice and lettuce but I requested some salsa verde (my fav with everything), threw on some cilantro and onion mix, and grabbed a lime. I loved eating the chile relleno by itself but also enjoyed dipping it into the salsa verde. There was actually a man from Michigan in town visiting relatives who was eating there same time as us. He told us it’d been his second visit and he would definitely be back next time he was in town. We couldn’t agree more. Luckily we live much, much closer.
