A mojito and a Cuban sandwich and I was in paradise! I love Cuban sandwiches… when they are truly done right they are like eating savory mana from heaven… and they do it right here! Rum is also my drink of choice… and no matter what you think there is a true art to making a good mojito… here they get the college level art class grade… not the full on professional art gallery or museum grade… but still pretty good. The key that most fail on is muddling the mint… this means bruising the leaves not shredding them so that the mint flavor comes through but not the actual leaf through the straw! The place is your typical airport eatery… packed with ok service. However the Cuban sandwich wS pretty gosh darn good!! Not sure when I’ll be back this way but until then my mouth will be watering for another bite!

Adelheidi’s Organics – Menu with Prices – 520 Park St, Naples

This is a gem in the rough. Everything on 5th Avenue South is so expensive and it is hard to find something that feeds into your inner sugar cravings that don’t cost a fortune. Adelheidi’s is amazing! They have vegan ice cream and gelatos. They aren’t as expensive as other ice cream places in 5th ave and they cater to those of us who still want to eat healthy but also want to satisfy our sweet tooth. This ice cream is basically guilt free ice cream. It is delicious. The customer service is great too. They have people who work there who really care and want to get to know their customers. This is something you do not find most places. I will definitely be returning! I was able to try different flavors and some flavors I wouldn’t even think would go together or taste well together and they really did. My favorite is the strawberry champagne. If you haven’t had the time you need to try this flavor! The lady who served us was so eager to talk with us and get to know us! That is A1 customer service in my book! Every flavor that I tried she gave a little back story on how it’s made. The mint ice cream was also a good flavor that I tried because she described that how the mint flavor isn’t just artificial flavoring they strain mint and use the actual mint leaves in the ice cream to really give it the natural flavor. I especially liked how the spoons that they used to let customers try their flavors were actual spoons and not just plastic spoons. This also proves how genuine they are about their vegan and save the planet themes. Those little extra touches make this place an amazing place and everyone needs to try it!

Roof Top Lounge – Menu with Prices – 1400 Main St, Columbia

My husband and I stayed at the Sheraton last weekend. We enjoyed the hotel but the rooftop bar left me feeling super disappointed. We went up for a late drink (around 11) and before we got off of the elevator, we could hear the music. I’m not an old “fuddy-duddy” by any means but the music was too loud to even think. As we turned the corner, I expected to see a big crowd dancing or something. Nope. About 20-30 people all sitting in small groups trying to chat and having to yell. I thought we should just call it a night but the view was nice so my husband convinced me to have a drink. The prices were high but that was expected. I decided to go with a mojito and he ordered a beer. My mojito was served by a female bartender that didn’t smile once. It had no mint in it and tasted like bad tonic water. Since it was so loud, I thought maybe she just couldn’t hear me so I asked her if it was a mojito. She looked annoyed, said “yes” and kept on going. I looked at my husband and joked that at least they couldn’t screw up a beer. Joke was on us! It was skunky and tasted awful. We paid and left without drinking our drinks. In the end, it all worked out because Bourbon down the street was amazing.

Havana Flavor – Menu with Prices – 4432 US-220, Greensboro

This little Cuban food trailer sets up in the Exxon gas station parking lot. I stopped to get fuel and went over to the trailer to see what it was all about. They mainly do different sandwiches and they are cash only. They have their menu board beside the trailer, it has right many numbered options, each number has the name of the dish or sandwich beside it, but doesn’t give you any type of description of what it is. I ordered the #2 Cuban Sandwich, the sandwich was great, roasted pork, ham, swiss cheese, dill pickle and mustard on a nice roll pressed in the panini press to a toasty brown. The roasted pork was the star of the show, it had great flavor, my Cuban sandwich was excellent.

Philz Coffee – Menu with Prices – 520 N State College Blvd, Fullerton

I wish I made the effort to check out this coffee place sooner! Today I decided to grab some coffee to go for my aunt and I and bring it back to the 626SGV area. Despite going to CSUF and being so close, I haven’t tried Philz Coffee even after hearing so many good reviews and I am glad I made the decision to come in today. I came in around 4pm and all the tables were filled with students studying or hanging out. There was a short line and I waited about 10 minutes. Since it was my first time here, I asked the barista for their most popular drinks. She recommended me the Iced Mint Mojito at regular sweetness and I asked if it was really sweet and she explained that they only use 2 spoons of brown sugar and it is really light which I enjoyed. I got that along with the Iced Ecstatic at regular sweetness. I got both drinks with less ice, in the large size, and asked for lids since they usually give it to you without one. After taking the first sip of the Mint Mojito I INSTANTLY fell in love. I don’t know why I haven’t tried Philz Coffee sooner. Their coffee is REALLY good, not overly sweet, no sugary syrupy sweeteners and the uniqueness of the mint leaves really is a game changer in my opinion. In a weird but phenomenal way the coffee is also really refreshing. The Ecstatic was also really good especially the nutty flavor it contains. I’m impressed with the coffee here and I feel like I want to come every morning now. I appreciate their natural ingredients and the fact that all their coffee start with straight black coffee and everything is added according to your preference after. The female workers were so kind and informative being my first time in here. She took the time to explain the ins and outs of their menu and I am really excited to come back and try other items on their menu. I found my new favorite coffee spot and I will be back ASAP because I am going to need it when exams come up. Im hoping to try their snacks soon as well since I saw lots of customers ordering food to go. Prices are decent for the quality experience and coffee you consume from Philz!

Pita Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1378 Mt Hope Ave, Rochester

My wife and I found PITA while walking around College Town on a Saturday, and we are so glad we did! By the time we left we had found our new favorite restaurant. We tried the falafel pita (packed with falafel patties and other good stuff), grape leaves with Greek salad, and tabouli (a salad-like dish of chopped mint, parsley, and wheat). Everything was delicious! The menu contains all our favorite middle eastern dishes, and in some cases takes them in a unique and delicious direction. The grape leaves were excellent, subtly spiced with a flavor I hadn’t tasted since eating my Lebanese grandmother’s homemade cooking decades ago. Don’t get me wrong, I like grape leaves from other restaurants, but this is “home cooking” in the best sense. Also the falafel was soft and delicious, among the best I’ve had. Highly recommended!

Country Market & Deli – Menu with Prices – 2128 9th Ave N, St. Petersburg

Don’t let the look of this place scare you, go inside! You won’t regret it! The first day we stopped there hubby and I split a small Cuban sandwich. Even splitting it there was more than we could eat. It is packed with so much meat you won’t believe it. It’s not your traditional Cuban sandwich, I’ve never had one with lettuce and tomato before. I actually hesitated when asked if I wanted it all the way and thought about making it more traditional but decided to go for it. I’m so glad I did, it was the best damn one I’ve ever had. So the next day my husband was out and said his car somehow drove there. He brought home a HUGE plate of chicken, yellow rice and black beans. It was so good I almost cried. It took me right back to when we lived in Miami. There was enough for dinner for two in that box.

Blk Dot Coffee – Menu with Prices – 13786B Jamboree Rd, Irvine

10/10! Customer service here is what was beyond expectations! I went here with my friend and we were both wanting to try something new and we were set on trying the mint mojito. What seemed to be the owner was really kind and patient and kept reassuring us that if we did not like it– we would have another drink made for us, while most places say that they will remake it-this was so genuine! We tried our drinks as we were sitting outside the lovely environment and he stepped outside to ask us if we liked the drinks. We were too shy to say it wasn’t our favorite, and with our slight hesitancy he told us immediately with a smile that he’d make us the LVTM coffee with oat milk and we LOVED IT! Nothing was wrong with the mint mojito we just weren’t quite ready for the refreshing thrill of the mint :b He even followed up with asking if we liked our second drink and was expecting nothing but our satisfaction with our new drinks. I was so blown away by how patient they were with us on top of handling everyone else with kindness! I know that people would have easily brushed us off or not follow up if we liked the drinks or not. Unfortunately, I did not get the name of this person, but safe to say all the interactions with the employees were nice/pleasant! Definitely love the atmosphere, the welcoming environment, and the overall teamwork that I saw at this place. I hardly write reviews, and when I want to its because of a bad experience, but this was SOOO NICE! LIKE WOW! Not only is the coffee something that I crave ? but the people truly brightened my day! It was a lovely experience, it truly goes far when people are nice! ? ? So coffee was yummy and the people were so kind!!

El Pequeño Bar – Menu with Prices – 401a Rue Saint Vincent, Montréal

This place was really cool! It’s a small bar/lounge on the corner adjacent to an alley that takes you to that really touristy street in MTL. We were looking for some refreshments before our dinner reservation and this seemed like the perfect place. It’s cuban inspired and cute. We sat outside and it is my understanding that the inside is very small. They have a few (expensive) cocktails on the menu. We both ordered the mojito which I would rate as better than average. In terms of the food sitch you can only really get a cuban sandwich which looked amazing (table next to us ordered it) but doesn’t appeal to my vegetarian tendencies. The service was decent. The guy was nice and friendly but there was only one person and he was running around all over the place serving all of the tables that it took a minute for him to recognize that our glasses were empty. Overall this is a good place if you’re just interested in some dranks and are not in a rush.

ice cream molds Menu with Prices 1420 Meador Ave, Bellingham

Time for Spring cleaning and shredding! I was fortunate enough (only days before) to learn of the first annual Shredding & BBQ event at REMAX on Lakeway Dr. I grabbed a few bags of papers and loaded my car. Well, maybe a few more than a few. The truck was HUGE and they welcomed everyone through the line. They guys were efficient and funny. Don’t be shy, they are used to handling LOTS of papers and securing them. George and the crew know what they are doing! First, they loaded your papers into giant garbage cans and then on to the truck. They even explained to us how the shredded paper gets recycled onto more usable materials. The company is located on Meador Ave. Although they said if you come to their location it will cost you $45 to shred a full can and $25 for 1/2 can. **inside tip** track them down at any community shredding event, but please send a thank you or doughnuts to the business sponsoring the event as they pay a hefty hourly fee for this service on behalf of their customers and the community.

Habana Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 5945 Cliffdale Rd, Fayetteville

Let me preface this review by saying that I am Cuban and grew up eating my mom’s cooking. So, my mother’s cooking is the benchmark by which all Cuban food is compared. Having said that, I was extremely impressed by this little gem of a restaurant. I have been here 4 times now, and every time I have ordered something different. Each time I have been blessed by the sheer joy of eating an authentic Cuban meal! And, I have to say that it measures up to my dear mom’s cooking–that is no small feat. I’ve had the following meals: 1. Ropa Vieja-my favorite (closest to mom’s standard) 2. Lechón asado-moist and full of flavor 3. Arroz con pollo-the saffron rice is just like mom’s! 4. Mofongo (not on the menu). If you don’t know what it is, ask Rey, the owner. He’ll be happy to explain…not a typical Cuban dish (Puerto Rican), but heck, close enough! Also, don’t leave without having a piece of flan with a cortadito (espresso)! If you’re in Fayetteville, EVER, stop and eat here. You won’t be sorry!

West Caribbean Cuban Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 2215 S Combee Rd, Lakeland

Worst Cuban sandwich I have ever eaten, tiny portion of meat on the sandwich and they don’t use roasted pork like any real Cuban I’ve had and I’ve had TONS….they use a nasty tasting sliced pork. The bread taste like regular white bread and nothing like true Cuban bread, asked for my sandwich pressed and it was not pressed at all. Beef empanada was dry and tasteless. Breakfast menu was tiny and service was slow and horrible. I was embarrassed that I brought a group of 7 from my job there that’s for sure. Also k ow their FB is fake as they deleted my negative comment on their fake sandwich picture post and never even reached out to me about the issues.
