If you’re doubting making an appointment, hopefully this can help you make your decision. Stephanie IS AWESOME! She just started her own salon inside Sola Salons so come check her out. She listens to what you want and really makes an effort to ensure your happiness. I have thick Asian hair and she knows exactly how to thin it out and make it manageable. Other hair stylists will leave it either too layered that it’s awkward or too thick that it looks too heavy. Hair color: On point! She’s super honest with you and will make sure your hair color will turn out exactly as you want. It’s definitely helpful if you come in with a picture. My hair was super brassy when I came in. After my appointment, I got an Ash balayage. Easy maintenance and Stephanie will tell you exactly what you need to keep it. Big plus, she sells Kevin Murphy products! Appointment making: Super easy and quick replies. Text friendly and convenient! Do it and you won’t regret.

Tease Color+ Hair Design – Menu with Prices – 38-09 Union St, Flushing

BEST SALON EXPERIENCE EVER. BOOK ALVIN AS YOUR HAIR STYLIST. I first contacted Tease on yelp to book an appointment for balayage. They promptly replied to me and we ended up taking on WeChat. There I sent Pictures of my desired hair and date and time I wanted to come in. I came on a Friday around 4pm for a light brown ombré balayage for my virgin black hair. My hair stylist was Alvin – who is also the owner of the salon. TRUST ME YOU WANT TO BOOK HIM- not only does he have +18 years of experience but he stayed with me until MIDNIGHT FOR MY HAIR. I did about two rounds of bleaching and color and then finished off with a treatment for my hair. Not only did he make sure every step was perfect – he truly cares about his patients and he will make sure you don’t leave until you are satisfied. Even though the salon closed at 9pm he stayed with me till midnight until I got my perfect color I wanted – exactly like it photo I showed him- actually even better. The prices are so affordable and all the hair products they use are Japanese and less damaging than other salons. Lastly, after you change your hair color- you have a month to come in and do a FREE appointment where you can change your color or do a root touch up . Seriously, it’s conveniently located under Toto ramen and the best salon experience I’ve been too.

Lucid Studio – Menu with Prices – 3007 Clairemont Dr #10, San Diego

I have been going to Stephanie for more than a year as our relationship began when she was employed by another salon. Now, she has branched out on her own at Lucid, and I had no question and absolutely no hesitation that I would follow her, even though the location of the old salon was WAY more convenient (walking distance, to my house, which assured me I would get my Fitbit steps in, lol). Actually, the new location- while it is a 15 minute car ride away – is great, as it is near a Sprouts & other stores (get your errands done with great looking hair, ladies) and has ample parking. The studio itself is made me feel like a little girl getting my first Strawberry Shortcake doll…..it’s an explosion of sherbet colors with an mature twist. And I’m not the only one who likes it: as I was getting my roots touched up, other nearby studio mates had stopped in to compliment Stephanie on the look of the studio! Now about the hair: I have always been a hard sell with hair; like most of us, I’m challenging to please! But in the past I have always accepted a level of defeat – oh, it will grow back, the color is not really that bad, etc. I’m in my mid-40’a, and I’m at that age where my face is changing, my gray is getting grayer or more visible, you ladies my age know what I am talking about. I went from a VERY dark inky brunette/black (due to overuse of at home box color) and have graduated lighter and lighter to a medium brown with dark underlays and caramel highlights. She has taken years of my look! I know this to be true, as when I go back to the east coast after a year of being gone, I am told that me & my hair looks amazing ? As young as Stephanie is, I’ve never had someone so in tune with my hair and my look and making me look and feel pretty – and making me still feel young!. Stephanie has a thoughtful eye for color and she doesn’t ‘over do’ it. She also never tries to push expensive products on you. After a while, though, once my old crappy products run out, I end up buying some of the stuff that she uses on my hair, as it actually works! Personally, Stephanie is someone I would be friends with, or would want to be friends with, even if she didn’t do my hair. She is pleasant to chat with, has an incredible memory (almost scarily so!!) regarding anything you told her, and is extremely relatable. She’s also great at talking and NOT stopping doing your hair (you know how some people stop what they are doing and talk with their hands? Yeah, well, Stephanie is not like that :-)!) I can’t say enough good stuff about this girl….she knows what she’s doing, she seems to have that ‘it’ factor in figuring out what looks good on a person, and as long as I continue to get compliments on my color and my cut, I’m not planning on seeing anyone else ?

courtneys chair – Menu with Prices – 8920 Talking Stick Way suite 14, Scottsdale

I went to Courtney twice. At first, I was very happy with my hair until I started seeing uneven strands in my hair & I’m talking about bulks of blonde in my balayage, it did not look natural at all. I didn’t notice this when I was at the salon because Courtney only shows the hair once she has curled it & that causes any imperfections to hide. I would also like to add that she left me lighter from one side than the other & when I addressed this she did not take responsibility for it nor did she offer to fix it. Now, I was paying for a full balayage definitely not a partial & I understand that I have a lot of hair. However, Courtney on both occasions, gave me PARTIALS while I paid for what I thought was a full balayage. She charged me about $200 for a partial & I thought it was because the rest of my hair just wasn’t lightening. However, that wasn’t the case, she was just overcharging me because there is no way that a partial can be worth $200 especially given that Courtney doesn’t have the expertise to back that price. This type of behavior is unethical & I do not appreciate being taken advantage of. If you go to her be careful & ensure that you are getting what you are paying for before you leave.

By The Blade – Menu with Prices – 43473 Boscell Rd, Fremont

Johnny Na’s haircut suite is located in the Pacific Commons Plaza in between Home Goods and Jo-Anns. While you’ll see a building that says Salons by JC, there is in fact several suites with hair/nail salons inside. His suite is #15. I arrived a little early to my 11:30 am appointment and wasn’t sure if I was in the right location at first, but quickly found out after walking inside that I was in the right place. I will be honest. While my appointment was at 11:30 am, Johnny was late by 30 minutes. I guess I was his first appointment for the day and â??he was coming in from Dublin which had traffic. I would say that I’m a pretty patient person and was more understanding after he had informed me through text that he was running late. When Johnny finally arrived, he looked a little flustered and I was a little worried at that point because I wasn’t sure if he would be able to deliver a nice haircut under stress from the traffic. I reassured him that it was fine and I showed him a picture I had found on pinterest. I asked for his honest opinion and whether the hairstyle would suit my face structure and shape and he was able to provide me with feedback. He started to cut away and once I saw him getting into his groove, I was confident that he would do a good job. Johnny is not only a hair stylist that is meticulous and detail oriented, he is also very personable. During my haircut, we chatted about life and food. It made the experience a lot better. My younger sister came with me and she mentioned that my haircut took a little over 1.5 hours!!! I’ve never had someone spend so much time on my hair. I was so surprised, but it really does show. I also would like to mention that it was also my first time getting my hair shampooed and washed. I believe the service is included with the starting haircut price, but don’t quote me. It was so relaxing and made me feel pampered. LOL I also have fine Asian hair and I grew it super long for my wedding. He was able to give me a short haircut that framed my face well. In the end, I was very happy with the turn out of my haircut. While I will say that Johnny’s haircuts are not cheap, you are paying for the quality of the haircut and service that he provides. I only cut my hair every 1 to 1.5 years, so spending a little more to have someone do a thorough job means a lot. Although pictures don’t do my hair justice, it really turned out great! I love it and so did my husband when he saw it in person! Thank you, Johnny!! I may have found my new hair stylist! ? P.S – a week has passed and my hair still looks so good! Even though Johnny had showed me ways to style my hair, little does he know that I’m a pretty low maintenance gal and his haircut for me was effortless. No work needed and I still get compliments from people! ?

La Pita Fresh – Menu with Prices – 5056 Cass Ave, Detroit

Sorry but I found a hair IN. MY. MOUTH. after I finished my food. No thanks. I’ll leave up my original review I posted before finding the hair but honestly? I wont be back….. Very polite and helpful staff. Super fast carryout order ESPECIALLY with it being lunch time. I’m very happy and I look forward to frequenting them throughout the semester. Food tasty too. Only negative is that I know we want smoothies to be thick. But mine is so thick and icy I cant really enjoy it or drink it with my meal. I’m waiting for it to melt because it keeps getting stuck in the straw. But that may just be a personal issue. Yum yum yum all around

Cheyenne Stylist and Barber – Menu with Prices – 1060 Willow St Suite #8, San Jose

I just got my first cut and color with Cheyenne and I am out of this world impressed! I have always been very nervous getting my hair done by someone new, and Cheyenne defied my expectations. First and foremost, I love how friendly Cheyenne is and I felt so at home in her salon. I could really tell she actually enjoys what she does, not just goes through the motions because it’s her job. She is great about making sure you feel comfortable and are happy with what she is doing. She would constantly be asking me “is this length ok” or “are you happy with how this looks”. She showed me the color she was going to do before she applied it. Her prices are also EXTREMELY reasonable. No, you’re not going to get a $10 haircut but…you get what you pay for and if you want a $10 cut, Supercuts has a yelp page too. I’ve gotten my hair cut and colored in other places in the area and Cheyenne is definitely not price gouging. I was also extremely happy because Cheyenne does not try to pressure you into more services or to buy products. The last salon I went tried to sell me on different treatments and products and it was super sleazy. Cheyenne will offer advice and recommendations if you ask her, but I did not feel like I was fighting her every step of the way trying to get out of buying things I did not want. All in all, I am so thrilled with my hair! As much as I love my color I am actually really excited for it to fade so I can come back and have something else done ?

The Hair Cafe – Menu with Prices – 7201 Archibald Ave #6, Rancho Cucamonga

I know the pictures speak for themselves but everything about visiting this salon has been perfect. I was referred to Maria by my cousin. I knew I was going to have to cut some damaged hair off and didn’t think I’d be able to get close to the color I wanted because of the faded red I previously had from another salon. However, she worked her magic as usual kept some length and I loved the outcome even better than my original request! She suggests what’s best for your hair and gives you what your looking for without frying ur hair. I’ve gone to salons who don’t really care if they fry ur hair because they’re going to get paid regardless! Maria and from what I’ve seen the other girls there also genuinely care about their clients. On top of everything else they are extremely affordable. I have thick hair and it still doesn’t feel like they burn a hole in your pocket. I learned my lesson and will not go to anyone else.

Healthy Life Salon Menu with Prices 203 SE 1st Ave, Boca Raton

You will be very happy you came to this salon. My first appointment was for a color, cut and style from the owner Juli. Previously, I had been “salon hopping” trying to find just ONE salon that can achieve both an excellent color and cut….. its usually been just one or the other. I have finally found it! Her salon is very unique with pure hair and skin products and an assortment of organic teas and wine. It was a personal, relaxing experience and I felt very cared for while I was there. Juli believes in clean products for your skin and hair and is knowledgable re both. Her 30 years as a stylist place her skill level way above other stylists I have been to. She is excellent at what she does and takes her time in getting everything just right. I am grateful that I went to her salon yesterday and especially LOVE the end result…..no disappointments here!!! Shipwreck Barbershop – Menu with Prices – 4541 La Sierra Ave, Riverside

I’ve only been here once, but David cut my hair 4 times at the last barber shop he worked at. I have weird shitty hair, so it’s hard for me to get a cut I really like. And typically it takes a new barber 3-4 cuts to get a cut I dig. He killed it the first time out though. It was probably the best hair cut I’ve ever gotten. And there are barbers who had cut my hair 30+ times. There’s a good reason every review here’s 5 stars. I only recommend David because he’s the only barber here I’ve gotten a hair cut from. Once I find one I tend to stick with them. If you need a bomb hair cut you can’t go wrong with anyone here, this is a legit barber shop where everyone has insane skills. While the prices are higher than some spots, you get what you pay for. I have zero problem paying more here and still tipping $10-15. And as others have mentioned the owners chill and makes you feel like you’re at home. I had been going to the same barber for a long time before David, and I had kind of gotten into a rut of the exact same fade every time. There was nothing wrong with it, but it was just typical and plain. I told him to do whatever he wanted to my hair, there was no input from me. I kicked around a few idea about my beard. This cut was nothing I would have specifically asked for. But the way it turned out, it’s my new go to. He’s also INSANE with beards. I have shitty, nappy, rough facial hair, and he managed to make it look like I have a good beard lol. Here’s a picture of the 1st cut I got from him, it was last summer. At a different shop but the same barber. When he left the other shop, I did too. 2 of the best feelings I have in this world are when I’ve detailed the hell out of my ride, and when I have a fresh hair cut. You need a hair cut? MAKE AN APPOINTMENT ONLINE NOW! I recommend David. So yeah, I’m a pretty meh looking dude, but that’s not his fault at all lol. But my hair and beard? He hooked the shit up big time, so I’m super grateful as I need any help I can get ha. I got a ton of good comments.

Wonder hair salon – Menu with Prices – 4425 Torrance Blvd, Torrance

Eugene was heaven sent ! Hubby was able to take a rare day off last minute and insisted I leave the house and get my nails done, a massage or a haircut or just drive somewhere to park and take a nap haha anything to get me out of the house (I have 3 kiddos under 3, yes yikes !) so I opted for a haircut. I knew it’d be a challenge finding an appointment anywhere soo last minute since I started making my calls at around 2:30. I checked a few reviews and made a few messages through yelp.. Eugene replied lightning fast and said she could take me in at 3:45. Turns out she had a last minute cancellation, I was super excited & super nervous since this would be the first time at a new place. Last time I tried a haircut with a good yelp following it didn’t work out for my hair and I was so disappointed… I sat in her chair, explained I was losing my hair by the buckets post having a baby (or 3) & my hair was very dry it sometimes gets extremely tangled. We came up with a game plan and I was whisked off to the heaven station or the hair washing station as some people know it by. She washed my hair, I requested the temperature to be cold since it was near 100 degrees out this day. I cannot describe the feeling, the cool water felt so amazing but the massage she gives when she’s shampooing and rinsing and conditioning and rinsing again ooh so amazing !!!!!!! I’m definitely coming back just for shampoo and blow dry appointments. I mean, it wasn’t a quick, here’s your “massage” now get outta my chair massage. It was an experience all on its own… once my hair was squeaky clean and scalp was done being in heaven it was time to sit in her chair and see how she’d do with my hair. Being that I’m losing my hair, I still have what some hairstylist call a “hair forest”.. I’m Hispanic so my hair is extremely thick and long and I have a lot of it… Being that Eugene is Asian, I was nervous that maybe she hadn’t worked on other ethnicity hair before (just a weird “what if” I had in my head), I noticed a lot of her products were Japanese so I just assumed her clientele was mostly Asian, and maybe it is but either way, she rocked it !!!! She handled my hair & my thickness sooo soo well! I absolutely loved my cut. I got home and my husband raved about my cut as well… all in all it was $70, which is a few bucks more than I’d expected but the experience and attention I received def merited it… def trust Eugene with your hair, once she’s got scissors in her hand she just gets so focused and ends with a win !

Jordan’s Beehive – Menu with Prices – 11703 Huebner Road #202 Room 12, San Antonio

OMG!!! Guys, I finally found a worthy hairstylist!!! Only took me 26 years. Jordan is the definition of an amazing hairstylist. I went in for a perm. Yes, a PERM. I was excited but super nervous because perms aren’t really a common desire, compared to color and highlights. So finding the right person to do it was nerve-wracking. Within mins into my appointment, those nerves went away. (Long story short, she’s extremely experienced in the perming department) Usually, when I get hair cuts, I don’t like when the stylist talks to me because, from past experiences, it’s so fake, awkward and forced. BUT it didn’t feel that way at all with Jordan. I honestly felt like we were old friends catching up. When my husband picked me up I couldn’t stop bragging about her. He wanted to drop me off lol. Will totally be recommending her to everyone and their mom who mentions hair to me.
