Stopped by for a quick snack before viewing a house nearby. It didn’t disappoint. They serve home-baked desserts, and serve Treat ice cream directly from San Jose. I am so happy they have ube, coconut and mango – these are quintissential Asian flavors specifically South East Asian flavors. So ordered a single scoop of each either in a cup or waffle cone. It cost $4 flat – cups and cones are free. Extra cup or cone is $1. I think double scoop is $5.50. Ice cream flavors are huge like 25. Treat ice cream is a hard ice cream that is thicker but flavors are excellent. Natural and made with fresh ingredients. They also have sundaes like Tin Roof, Black and Tan, Charlie Chaplin(ask what this sundae is- it is reminiscent to Niles District wherein the comedian made his first films on this place back in the 1920s-1930s before going to Hollywood), and many more! This ice cream shop is such a joy to be here. It is so welcoming, especially when you are seated outside to feel the positive, casual and welcoming vibe of the Niles District in Fremont. The Niles in Fremont has updated its city to a restaurant, eating place and more family-oriented town which is nice to stroll in the night time and day time. They also sell cold beverages like bottled waters, sodas, energy drinks, quarts of ice cream, fresh baked goods near the cashier, and ice cream. Great place to hang out. There is a place to eat inside and outside. Come here for a great dessert, snack either on the daytime, hot summer nights and just have a craving of Treat’s ice cream, and you can thank me later.

212 Ice Cream Studio – Menu with Prices – 1551 E Elliot Rd, Gilbert

Vegan reviewer here! I heard they had some amazing dairy free options and I had to stop in. I went in pretty late on a Saturday night hoping they wouldn’t be out of goodies. To my delight they had a HUGE selection of vegan flavors, not just the usual pathetic 1 or 2 flavors. Here they serve soft serve (vegan soft serve is an extra $2 making it $4 total), ice cream and shakes where you can customize your treat by adding toppings or getting it in a fancy cone. Taking to one of the workers she suggested we get the “drilled” option which is where we get to choose a cereal and a topping that gets mixed into the ice cream. (They are popular for their gold flakes you can add on as a topping) I tried 3 flavors, they were all amazing! It didn’t have that strange icy or coconut flavor either, nice and creamy like normal ice cream. I went with dark chocolate, Oreos and peanut butter cereal in a birthday cake cone. WOW! This honestly was the BEST ice cream I’ve ever had! It tasted like a chocolate McFlurry except better. I’m not one to get crazy toppings on my ice cream but this is the place to go wild. This ice cream was a little over $9.00 which was pricey but worth it. I saw a girl behind me get a milkshake that legit looked like it was in a big gulp cup. I can’t wait to come back! If you have any doubts just stop in once and you’ll be hooked.

Gelato Classico Italian Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 39191 Farwell Dr, Fremont

This business establishment is the longest running gelato place in Fremont. I mean could I not review this place for over 20 years when I first lived in Fremont a long time ago. But anyway, they have more than 30 flavors they have to offer. The ambiance is a bit outdated, but nobody can resist the gelato flavors they serve here. There’s a huge amount of classic and some Gourmet flavors like Honey lavender, pistachio, Coppa Mista (choco, vanilla, hazelnut and pistachio), Black cherry, chocolate, strawberry sorbet, mango sorbet, coconut macadamia nut and many more. They serve gelato and sorbet flavors either on a small, medium, large or cone. They also put Italian ice wafer on top. It is such an amazing dessert. The ladies are so polite, and very courteous. I couldn’t make my mind whether to order coconut macadamia nut and mango sorbet. So the lady said,”Do you half of each?”. OK, I didn’t I can do that. Great suggestion. This gelato place is located within the Farwell plaza across Olive Garden restaurant and drive pass Sakoon Indian restaurant. Great place for dessert.

Wild Scoops Menu with Prices 429 E St, Anchorage

If you’re interested in some artisanal flavors that reflect the local tastes of Alaska, check out Wild Scoops. They source local Alaskan ingredients to put into their ice cream and offer non-dairy flavors as well. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety they offered at this little ice cream spot. They let me try the different flavors until I settled upon I wanted, then I asked for the Baked Alaska topping. I also asked for the waffle cone because it was for the ‘gram. I got the fireweed flavor which was fantastic. Fireweed is a flower local to Alaska and they definitely have incorporated it well as an ice cream. It wasn’t overly floral and had fruity notes. The Baked Alaska topping is more of a marshmallow cream than a meringue as the texture is different. It was torched behind the counter and definitely the way to go if you’re looking for a picture-worthy cone. The service was friendly and if I didn’t live out of state, I’d be a regular.

Gunther’s Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 2801 Franklin Blvd, Sacramento

Gunther’s was my first ice cream love when I moved to Sacramento. I was dazzled by the neon sign that lights up the exterior of the building with a cone being filled with a scoop of ice cream, and impressed by the longevity of this family owned ice cream shop. They have a case of ice cream treats from chocolate covered bananas, cherries, ice cream sandwiches, and even clown decorated ice cream cones. The shakes are divine. All made to order, and with the ice cream made on premises. If you’re a purist like I am, you’re there for the amazing ice cream! Gunther’s has been a family owned and operated creamery for over 60 years. The creamy delights range from basic flavors like chocolate, butter pecan, strawberry, to seasonal flavors that are sure to delight. I love that you can order either kiddie scoops, regular scoops, or a combo. The kiddie scoops are perfect if you’re just craving a smaller amount. The regular scoops are a tad larger, and I often mix my scoop sizes when I’m indulging in a couple of flavors. Scoops can be enjoyed in either a sugar cone, A classic Cone, waffle cone, or even in a bowl. I often will order my ice cream on a sugar cone and then asked for to be put in a cup so that if there isn’t room to sit and enjoy it there taking it with me is easier. My favorite flavors are traditionally the chocolate brownie, the mint chip, and they make a couple of different heavenly caramel ice cream flavors that depending on the season are available. Gunther’s is a great place to stop at any time of the day or evening. During the summer and warmer months of the year, it’s not uncommon to see a line out of the door and around the corner. Don’t let that deter you from enjoying premium ice cream! The line moves fairly quickly and when you get to the counter the customer service is superb. If you’re unsure of a flavor they are more than happy to let you sample then make a decision. Gunther’s is a Sacramento landmark, and definitely worth trying. I often feel like they are a hidden gem, and should be discovered, and rediscovered often.

Crank & Boom Ice Cream Lounge – Menu with Prices – 1210 Manchester St, Lexington

“Craft ice cream” — in the history of human commerce, please show me a better business plan. I mean, you’ve witnessed people snarf up chemical-ice “cream” like it’s frozen ambrosia, right? So, imagine what they will do when offered a cone-ful of the universal treat made from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients in flavors for which Willy Wonka would have given his left gobstopper. [*See below for the answer.] I stopped at Lexington’s Distillery District on my way back to Cincinnati for a quick lunch (a slice at Goodfellas Pizza on a shady patio) and two scoops–strawberry + chocolate fudge brownie–of dessert from C & B for the road. *Somewhere in the vicinity of Georgetown, KY, I contemplated hanging a louie on I-75 to go back for more all the while my traveling companion burst into a robust rendition of Jingle Bells, inspired as she was by her scoop of C&B’s all-spice/gingerbread cookies-n-cream . . . in September. Some kind of freak out indeed! C & B also tempts with spiked concoctions (bourbon!), decadent sundae assemblages, and confections, e.g., cake pops, cookies, caramels, marshmallows. I look forward to the next round.

Emack & Bolio’s Menu with Prices 366 Delaware Ave, Albany

Oh, E+B. That was soooo good. Can I have another?? Woman wanted Ice Cream on a Saturday after a run. Always game for a cool treat after the torture of a 5k. So I did my usual. Put “Ice cream” into a yelp search, and up pops Emack and Bolio. I was like… who? Did some reading, looked at pictures, and decided this was where we were going. I do like some soft serve and froyo, especially if there’s alot of flavor selection, but I always look for a good hand packed regular ice cream also, and tend to err in that direction. In we walk. Smells like an ice cream shop. They have a chocolates case. Being on somewhat of a diet, I avoided it. I will partake one day, just not today. Nice selection of all different flavors too. It all sounded and looked very good. The selection of ice cream flavors was what you would expect. The old standbys and a mix of unique also. “Deep purple cow” and “Chunk ‘O Funk” for examples. She chose the vanilla bean speck with chocolate and peanut butter toppings. I went with cake batter with rainbow sprinkles. (Of course). Anybody who has read my reviews knows how I feel about rainbow sprinkles. I also went with a waffle cone bowl. With chocolate coating. And rainbow sprinkles. (See above). Not a fan of the cone so much. I always feel rushed to pound down the cone before it melts and ends up all over my hand and shirt. I would much rather get a bowl and take my time. Savor it at my own pace. She raved about her selection, and I am here to expound on mine. The cake batter ice cream was spectacular. Cake batter base with chunks of yellow and chocolate cake mixed in. So darn good, I am already thinking about going back again. Not overly sweet either. Very well done. And although I’m not a fan of waffle cone either, it was also spectacular. The whole combination just worked very very well. I’ll be back for more for sure. I gave you five stars because you deserve five stars. I was going to subtract one for the cost, but after some thought, I am willing to pay the extra to get a product that rings all the bells. And that’s exactly what this did. No conversation, just the two of us going “Mmmmm” and “Oh my”. For cost perspective: One single scoop coated waffle bowl with two toppings, and one double scoop coated waffle bowl with rainbow sprinkles ? It came to just over $13.00. That could be a bit much for some. As I said, I have no problem with it when the product matches the price.

Twistee Treat – Menu with Prices – 6900 Gulf Blvd, St. Petersburg

Let me start by saying that I’ve been wanting to go to Twistee Treat for years. I finally went today. They have so many delicious sounding choices! My husband ordered the root beer soft serve with cherry dip in a waffle cone. He said it was delicious. I ordered the fudge brownie soft serve with cherry dip and a chocolate dipped waffle cone. Mine was also delicious. I have two minor complaints. The first is that it seems like the ice cream is not cold enough to hold up to just existing. As soon as we received our cones, they were already melting and dripping all over the place and were a mess. The second issue I had with my cone was that I received it with the cone being dipped over the napkin that the young lady wrapped around the cone. This meant that I could not eat or enjoy the top inch of my cone because it had napkin glued to it from the Dip. (It is not possible to see the napkin with the dip on it in the photo because I placed another napkin over the top of it) basically I did not get my money’s worth. I had to discard a portion of my cone and ice cream. For some reason although my husband’s calling was also dipped it did not have a napkin wrapped around it during that process . Lucky ham! ? The reason it was so disappointing is that it was absolutely delicious! I will go back, but in the future I will make sure to share with the people working there what happened to my last cone so that they do it the same way.

Honeycomb Creamery – Menu with Prices – 1702 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge

This place is really leaning into Camberville. hipster and I am here for it. Not regular coffee ice cream, but cold brew coffee ice cream (if I have to explain the difference its already too late for you). Rosé gummy’s. Goat cheese and Basil Ice cream (I got this and damn. this was basily. And I love it. Go big or go home). There were a ton of weird flavors which we tried most of and they were all quite good. You can get an ice cream flight. Thats just genius. But like everything hip there is a dark underbelly. They don’t do sugar cones. If you want a cone you are gonna pony up $1.50 for a homemade waffle cone. And its delicious and obviously if you are eating ice cream you are getting a cone because you aren’t a savage. But this bucking of the traditional cheap sugar cone for free is an aggressive stance and I can’t abide by it. Go here, eat their weird, delicious, flavors. Complain about the lack of a free cone. Remember that I went there before it was cool. Thats all I have to say on the matter.

Sunset Swirl Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 1708 Lena St Ste 101, Santa Fe

I had never been before and was anticipating to find out what exactly had replaced La Leturia. I am very sad to say but it did not come close to the description of decent. Right off the bat the employee working there was absolutely horrid. When scooping the ice cream it was quite obvious that she put little to no back into it. The ice cream scoop was not a scoop, but more like a pathetic dome. When putting the scoop on the cone, she lightly placed it on top and did not press down to secure it. I was literally trying desperately to balance it and not let it fall, by this point I was wondering if it was something personal or if others were sharing the same issues. Sure enough, I looked over and witnessed another costumer slightly tip her cone and down fell her scoop. Even worse, the employee didnâ??t even offer to help clean up or offer a refund. In fact, I was the one who was grabbing napkins to help out! All the employee did was shrug her shoulders and watch us both struggle. In the end I left feeling completely unsatisfied and unrefreshed. I most certainly did not get my moneyâ??s worth and will not be returning #sorrynotsorry. Furthermore, I believe that if the owner/manager considered hiring some qualified employees with better manners, perhaps the place will have a shot as I do appreciate the idea of vegan ice cream.

Rori’s Artisanal Creamery – Menu with Prices – 910 Montana Ave, Santa Monica

Santa Monica, Ca. Rori’s has developed a process of extracting amazing flavors from their recipes. Even the really odd ones like lemongrass are pretty incredible. The dark chocolate is very rich and the texture is thick and creamy. Coffee, the same, the coffee in there is real enough to provide a slight awakening. Honey crunch, bursting with honey but not too sweet. None of the flavors are too sweet except possibly the peanut butter chocolate candy, which tastes a lot like a typical Reese’s bites ice cream from Trader Joe’s, not a bad thing, just doesn’t stand out on its own. The itty bitty scoops are about the size of a ping pong ball. This means you can get several different flavors in your cup. Two tiny scoops are $3.50, so it can add up fast. A regular scoop will set you back $5.50. I didn’t try their homemade waffle cone, wasn’t really ready for an $11.00 double plus the cost of the cone. This isn’t one of those parlors where the freezer is open and you can see all the ice creams. By keeping the freezers closed they are able to serve you perfectly tempered ice cream. So if you get a cone it may melt faster than what you’re used to. They don’t focus on trying to color their product in bright hues either so the freezer doesn’t need to be open for that reason either. Look at the menu and taste what ever you want. The tasting spoons are not disposable, they wash and reuse them! A first I’m sure, I was impressed.

Dar’s Double Scoop – Menu with Prices – 1048 Rice St, St Paul

Dar’s Double Scoop is probably one of the best ice cream shops in my opinion. The price, quality, quantity, and the fact it’s locally owned. All the things that makes it a wonderful ice cream shop! Lil yang and I went here yesterday to celebrate her birthday. Lil yang got a small sugar cone with cake and ice cream(flavor), and almond joy(flavor). I got a small cake cone with Zanzibar Chocolate. Our total was $5.50. The amount of ice cream we got was a lot! I was so full after my ice cream, I had to consider that my dinner. Probably not the smartest idea, but hey, it was Lil yang’s birthday treat. I haven’t tried their food there, but I was recently looking at their menu, and I enjoy a good brat or polish sausage. So I know I will have to try them soon and I will let yelp know. Overall I definitely would recommend this place to anyone. There aren’t a huge variety like grand ole creamery, but what they do have is a great selection, and the price is amazing! Support this local shop, you won’t regret it!

(402) Creamery – Menu with Prices – 311 N 8th St #101, Lincoln

I enjoyed 402 Creamery and I thought the flavors were all great. It’s in a trendy location and good for any late night sweet cravings. The menu is fairly traditional but the rotating flavors are a little more creative/different. A few notes: -They seemed a bit understaffed at one person working on a Saturday afternoon. My guess is that they pick up more business during the school year. -The price point is high- $4 for a single scoop and unlike other ice cream places, a single scoop really means 1 large scoop, not 1.5. That being said, you can get a split scoop (which is more like 1.5 scoops) for $.50 more. You can only get 2 flavors with the split scoop. All in all, I enjoyed my experience here and I would go back.
