(7/12/2016) Great local purveyor of sorbet (the upscale frozen treat version of Baltimore’s beloved snoball). There’s a local in Lexington Market, but I’ve mostly seen them at farmers markets and festivals around town. You can cool down and you can be down with the cause while you’re at it. Flavors I’ve seen so far have all been fresh fruit, today got Mango. Sorbet was smooth, fine-grained and creamy (but no cream, no fat, and no HFCS). Mango flavor was fresh and not too sweet, just the right amount of tart. Def skip the snoball (WTH is in that egg custard syrup anyway?!)

Snoman Snoballs Menu with Prices 14616 Tiger Bend Rd, Baton Rouge

The last two times I’ve visited two different locations and ordered the same type of snoball both times the syrup/flavor tasted weak and almost had very little flavor. Also at the 1st location I had to return to the window and ask for more syrup because my snoball was so dry nothing came up through the straw. IDK if they’re adding food color or H20 to the syrup to make it last but its def changed since last summer.

Wild Honey Frozen Yogurt – Menu with Prices – 7175 N Davis Hwy #6313, Pensacola

This is a great locally owned shop. Atmosphere is quaint but the star is definitely the froyo. They have something for everyone, including froyo, gelato, custard and sorbet, including Dole whip. We have eaten Dole whip in Hawaii at the Dole plantation and in the Magic Kingdom-this Dole whip does not disappoint. They even have in with mango flavor. You can mix and match. They provide dividers if you don’t want your flavors to mix. There is also the opportunity to taste test before you buy. They have a very large variety of toppings, including fresh fruit, mochi, sauces and fresh, local honey. This truly is a gem of a place.

Taft Snowball Stand – Menu with Prices – 3308 Taft Park, Metairie

Snoball stands with 48937483684 different flavors are great, but often overwhelming. Taft Park Snoballs takes the guesswork out of combining flavors to make something incredible. The husband & daughter wanted a snoball. I wasn’t going to bother, but then I started looking through the Yelp photos of some of their creations and decided I better try one. Upon pulling up, I noticed “The Elvis” – bananas foster snoball, peanut butter sauce, whipped cream, oh my. I had to try it, and I’m glad I did! They have a whole menu of awesome fancy snoball creations and I can’t wait to try another!

Mount Desert Island Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 3110 Mt Pleasant St NW 1st Floor, Washington

Dang! They really know their ice cream. Every time I swing by here, I’m always very happy with the selection. They always have new flavors and they’re always super unique. The ice creams are very creamy and smooth. You can taste the real fruit in the sorbets. My favorite flavors: Brigadeiro: if you like a smooth chocolate with toffee, you’ll like this one. I like some chocolate with more fruity ice creams and this is my favorite one they have. Blueberry Basil sorbet: I looooved this one. It really does taste like fresh blueberries, and the basil contrasts with the berries to give it a unique twist. Lemon Poppy and Berry Swirl: Lemon is so refreshing on a hot summer day! This one is such a nice combo of lemony tartness and a sweet creamy berry. I also love the texture that the poppy seed add to the creamy ice cream. If you like different textures, this one is worth trying this summer. Real Strawberry: The magic is in the simplicity. No explanation necessary! You can tell they use real strawberries. So yummy. Waffle cone or cup? I’ve tried both. Obviously, the waffle cone is the better option, but if you want to be safe in the hot weather, opt for the cup. Lol I know I did when I wanted three scoops. Oops! Ambiance: it’s a small parlor with lots of light. They have some space inside to sit by the window. You can also sit outside. Service: they’re always really patient and let you try all the flavors you want! Fun fact- you can check the DC location on their website to see what their flavors are right now. Final Verdict: the quality of the ice cream can’t be beat! So glad I discovered this little gem.

Andy’s Frozen Custard – Menu with Prices – 2661 Trimble Rd, Columbia

Wow!! I loooove me some ice cream, so when I was in Columbia for a quick work trip, I sat at dinner and typed in “dessert” on Yelp. I saw Andy’s come up and was sold when I looked at the pics. I could tell right away this was an ice cream joint right up my alley. I love frozen custard and we don’t have as many local joints here in Ohio. As I was looking at Andy’s website, I quickly saw it was a chain (with none in Ohio!! Booo!). I knew I had to take this opportunity to check it out. It was so good, I actually ended up going there on back to back nights on my two nights in Columbia. The first time I opted for the Tiger Streak Concrete (for DQ fans, it’s basically a blizzard). It had all of my favorite things mixed into delicious creamy smooth vanilla custard! Caramel, hot fudge and oreo cookies! The hot fudge made the ice cream melt faster than normal, but they put it in an oversized cup (a Mizzou cup!) which made it easier to eat as it was melting. The second night I went super plain and got two scoops of vanilla and two scoops chocolate with nothing else. It was FANTASTIC! Probably some of the best “plain” ice cream I’ve had. It was so creamy and fresh (I believe on their website, they say they make the custard fresh daily). I loved it! Honestly, from here on out, whenever I travel for work, you can count on me looking up the area to see if there is an Andy’s nearby. Can’t wait until my next trip! In the meantime, if anyone is reading this who wants to open up a franchise in Ohio, please know that I’ll be a regular! Yum!

La Michoacana Knoxville – Menu with Prices – 8044 Ray Mears Blvd suite 103, Knoxville

We were curious to try the brightly colored mangonadas featured on the business’s website. If you’ve ever had a Vero Mango Lollipop, the mangonadas are basically the lollipop recreated as a dessert with mango sorbet, chili powder, and fresh mango. We enjoyed them, even though they weren’t what we expected (in a good way). If you aren’t a fan of spicy food, you should go with a different menu option because this dessert has some serious heat! La Michoacana is most definitely 100% authentic. The snacks and treats are not Americanized at all, which we loved. It was fun to try something new and different. They have a huge variety of creamy popsicle flavors such as cheesecake, strawberries & cream, and coconut. Lots of ice cream flavors as well. My 3 year old loved his popsicle with big chunks of fresh fruit in it. The cafe is discretely located in a strip mall area. The employees were super friendly and helped us order even though we were out of our element. Most of the menu is in Spanish, but flavors are listed in English as well. There is seating inside and outside. If you’re in the mood for a treat, be adventurous and try something new! La Michoacana has great Mexican Snacks!

Hangs French Coffee & Smoothie – Menu with Prices – 1146 Fort Street Mall, Honolulu

I think I’m in love. I was in love from the first sip. How is it possible that a smoothie could be THAT delicious?! It’s no surprise since he uses fresh fruit. He doesn’t add ice cream or yogurt or anything to overwhelm your taste buds with harsh sweetness. If anything I think he adds condensed milk to some smoothies. I’ve only ever tried the fruity flavors — peach, pineapple, strawberry, and mango. My favorite must be Mango. This mango smoothie is so refreshing, delicious, creamy and perfectly sweet. If you like mango in the slightest way, you must try it. I can’t stress that enough. The sad part is that mango is seasonal so its available during the Summer months. So what to opt for if mango isn’t available? Peach and pineapple are my other favorite flavors. The peach flavor is so fresh, it tastes like you just bit into a peach. Omg, it’s heaven. Pineapple is just as fresh and has that nice sour/sweet flavor a pineapple has. You’ll never want it to end. It’s located in Fort Street Mall on the side where most of the other restaurants are. Parking can be brutal in downtown/Chinatown! My suggestion, go with another person so someone can drive/watch the car while the other goes and picks up some heaven. Oh and it is CASH ONLY. No problem – there’s a lot of banks and ATMs downtown ? If there was 10 stars to give, I wish I could give it to this place. There is no hype, no overrated reviews here. As their ratings says it all, this place is a MUST when it comes to fresh fruit smoothies. I guarantee you will be satisfied and feel feelings you never thought you’d ever feel from drinking a smoothie. **New Found Favorite: Cantaloupe. It’s not too sweet but incredibly fresh and refreshing to have. It has a more watery consistency (as does the fruit) but that does not take away anything from the flavor. TIP: Try to order WITHOUT pearls. It might just be preference but their smoothies are so flavorful, you wouldn’t want anything to disrupt or hinder your ability to taste the deliciousness of each smoothie — they deserve more than that.

Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard – Menu with Prices – 12286 Warwick Blvd, Newport News

Stopped in here after work for a treat with a friend. I got a “gelati”,which is a cup of italian ice with a big squirt of frozen custard on top. This was delicious. The ice was flavorful, and the custard was smooth and creamy. The fatty custard provides a nice foil to the more watery, fruity ice. My only gripe is that it was kinda expensive for what it is. I think the small gelati was about five bucks. Also, there’s no indoor portion to the building. It was a hot day and we had trouble finding a seat in the shade.

Columbia’s Favourite Custard – Menu with Prices – 3304 W Broadway Business Park Ct, Columbia

I am comparing Randy’s with another small chain — Andy’s. Both are located in Columbia, MO. Randy’s Pros: A more smooth, creamy and fresh dairy tasting vanilla yogurt. More selections i.e. toppings. Randy’s Cons: Raspberry and peach toppings are more like jelly than whole fruit toppings (haven’t tried other fruit toppings). Randy is friendly, but his hired staff — not so much. It seems his young staff are not very cordial — not rude — but not cordial. We had no one behind us, and the young lady was all business with a “Next” attitude in spite of the fact that I was trying to solicit a little warmth from our particular window clerk. Next to the jelly consistency of Randy’s fruit topppings — my single cherry on my Sunday had a past it’s prime bite to it. You know sort of like pineapple that has turned. Andy’s seems to have a limited, but sufficient list of selections. Andy’s vanilla frozen custard has an okay flavor, but nothing to write home about. Andy’s staff is very, very friendly with a can do attitude. Because of Andy’s fruit toppings being less jelly like and a friendly staff — we will probably continue to choose them. However, we will check out Randy’s now and then to see if his frozen custard sundae fruit toppings become more like “fruit” toppings.

Amparitos Snowies – Menu with Prices – 371 Pat Mell Rd SE Suite 105, Marietta

So so glad I stumbled upon this gem! They still donâ??t have a sign so itâ??s easy to miss the spot. Theyâ??re tucked in a corner of the strip mall. I didnâ??t have experience with Mexican ice cream but Iâ??m totally a fan now. I got the chamo-mango without knowing what I was getting into. So itâ??s a mango sorbet â??sundaeâ? with mango pieces and spicy chamo sauce and sweet/savory/spicy chewy tamarind pieces. Itâ??s addictive. All the other stuff on the menu looked great too. The kids had regular strawberry and chocolate ice cream and they were also very tasty and not too sweet. Definitely worth a visit if youâ??re in the mood for unconventional snack and dessert.

Frostbites Crepes & Frozen Delights – Menu with Prices – 1827 Ximeno Ave, Long Beach

A unique frozen treat!! Food: 4.5/5. Who would have thought sorbet and frozen yogurt (er frozen custard to be accurate) would go so well together?? The sorbet is flavorful and tart, and the custard is so creamy and thick. Together they create something so wonderful! Give it a try. Service: 5.5/5. This business seems to pride itself on customer experience and friendly service. If anything, the workers seem at times a little TOO friendly haha. But they’re always quick to ask if you’ve been here before and are willing to offer dozens (not exaggerating) of samples to make sure you find the flavors you like. Venue: 5/5. Lots of seats. Cool place to hang out for a quick bite, and they have water to self-serve which is nice. Be sure to grab a stampcard too. They offer double stamps on rainy days!

Yoberry Frozen Yogurt – Menu with Prices – 909 Northwest Hwy, Garland

Great drinks! Got a dairy-free “passion fruit ice blended” with fruit jellies. Amazing flavor! Wife got an original milk tea with boba. Tea was freshly brewed with just the right amount of sweetness and lots of boba! Kiddo got a dairy-free strawberry-kiwi frozen yogurt with fresh fruits and other toppings. Start off with a cup or a waffle bowl. Full with any of 12 flavors of yogurt. One is lactose-free yogurt (not sorbet!). All the rest are either low-fat, fat-free or sugar-free. Then the toppings! Including: pineapple, kiwi, blueberries, strawberries, mango, cherries, strawberry dessert topping, strawberry popper, mix fruit jellies, cheesecake bites, Reese’s peanut butter cups, Reese’s peanut butter chips, chocolate rocks, granola, fruity pebbles, almonds, chopped peanuts, chocolate chips, gummy bears, gummy worms, butterfingers, mochi, sour worms, Heath bar, Oreo pieces, walnuts, graham cracker crumbs, m&ms, rainbow sprinkles, yogurt chips, go plate sprinkles, brownie bites, coconut flakes. Finish off with a syrup: chocolate syrup, caramel, strawberry syrup, mango syrup, honey and MARSHMALLOW! Warning. You may need more than one bowl! The owners are really pleasant and very helpful. Especially if you are nice to them to start with. Light pop music playing and wall to wall windows complement the the decor to make a bright atmosphere. Check photos and video for more info
