Try the chocolate glazed cinnamon roll, it is AMAZING! This place is a little bit difficult to locate as it’s in a tiny plaza off the corner intersection of Mission Blvd. & Niles Canyon Rd. I nearly missed turning into it, but I’m so glad I made that turn after the light. The shop is hidden by a big tree in front of it and has ample parking in the front and side of it. The spartan inside is very unassuming. There are about 2-3 tables, the counter, the glass enclosed case holding the donuts, a board with the prices above, and a refrigerator where you can get some canned drinks and juices. The brewed coffee aromatically fills the air. The donuts are baked fresh daily. This is what is incredible about the place. I took a mere glance while entering and had written it off with a ‘meh’ as a typical donut shop before even trying anything. Was I wrong to do this? Absolutely. I ordered half a dozen donuts to go from the lady helping me. While doing this I was made aware of how beautiful simplicity is. They offer options. I asked her if there were any jelly filled donuts. She responded warmly that the donuts are filled on request when ordered, offering choices of raspberry jelly or custard. The glazed donuts glisten enticingly with shiny sugary coatings. The cinnamon rolls even had options…plain, white icing, clear glazed, and an elusive rarity I’ve only found at this place: chocolate glazed. Oh, heavenly. I looked further in the glass case and saw a croissant sandwich with egg, cheese and bacon, which I also ordered (& the lady promptly heated up for me). I paid and walked back to the car with the goodies, eager to sample what I bought. The first bite into a plain glazed donut sent me reeling back to childhood. (It reminds me analogically of the scene in Pixar’s Ratatouille when the mouse discovers food as an experience rather than a way to a means.) You know – the kind of happy you feel when you try something for the first time & it’s everything you anticipate it to be…& pleasantly much more. That’s when I noticed the doughy soft texture, the sweet pillow and the incredible panoramic view of the hills in front of me. Several senses awakened and intertwined together at the same time – gorgeous backdrop visual combined with the taste of simple yet amazing donut. I gobbled it up ravenously. And like a glutton I couldn’t get enough…I just had to try the warm croissant breakfast sandwich too. It was magic. The buttery flaky croissant expertly made by masters combined with the gooey cheese, egg and smoky bacon send me reeling from the various flavor explosions in my mouth. The sweet, buttery, salty, savory all at the same time on each bite were like little fireworks going off on my taste buds…all while looking at the sun scorched hills in front of me and listening to the leaves rustling on the tree to the side of my parked car. This is what stands out – a small locally owned family business dedicated to serving its customers with friendly smiles, service & delectable finished products. Why would anyone want run-of-the-mill doughnuts from big corporate franchises when this is an option? The product is as good as it gets. Enjoy it!

Mel-O-Cream Donuts – Menu with Prices – 217 E Laurel St, Springfield

My wife and I stopped to get a dozen donuts for the family. When you walk in, the counter to order donuts is straight ahead. There is a big area to the right that has a lot of tables. The glass case with all the donuts is big but not huge. There is a decent amount of variety to choose from. We got some chocolate with custard filled, raspberry filled, regular glazed and chocolate covered. The custard filled were ok but only about half filled with custard. The same was true for the raspberry filled. The glazed were a bit dry.Service was very good as the lady behind the counter was nice. The place was clean. The prices were good.Overall, the donuts were slightly above average. There could be more filling since we ate half the donut before hitting the filling.

Krispy Donuts – Menu with Prices – 3403 Louetta Rd Ste E, Spring

Hooray! I get to be the first person to leave a review on this establishment. I happened to stumble upon this place while driving home. The owners of the donut shop are the sweetest human beings I’ve ever met. They were so happy and welcoming. I ordered a glazed donut, a chocolate glazed donut, and a sausage/egg/cheese croissant. They even warm up your croissant for you if you want. This has to be a new donut shop because I don’t see how there aren’t any reviews already made. The donuts were like a hybrid of Krispy Crème and Shipley’s donuts in my opinion. I took a bite into one of the donuts and the interior was as soft as a cloud. The one thing I truly appreciated from their donuts was that it was not overly sweet like most of the big chain donut shops. I highly recommend those who are close to give this mom and pop shop a try. I love and a huge supporter of mom and pop shops.

Burney’s Sweets & More – Menu with Prices – 4500 Falls of Neuse Rd #100, Raleigh

I have not tried everything, but I plan to! I have been looking for a good, reasonable sweet shop since many of Raleigh’s shops boast prices that are surpass their quality. Burney’s is the opposite way around! I visited mid-afternoon and the place was not busy. I was promptly greeted and offered a sample of their staple glazed croissants. It was delicious! I purchased three glazed croissants; strawberry, cream cheese, and custard filled. All were good, but the strawberry or the regular glazed sample were my favorites! The tart sweetness from the fruit combined well with the sweet, buttery glazed croissant. The cream cheese and custard were great as well, but I feel the fruit combined better. Their glazed croissant menu boasts lots of flavors and often seems to have unique flavors like mocha or s’mores. They also sell cake by the slice, which I cannot vouch for…yet.

Sweet Donuts – Menu with Prices – 800 E Arapaho Rd #112a, Richardson

I was up early and it would be hours until lunch so I needed something to tie me over until lunch. This place was on my way and I stopped to check it out. It’s a donut hole-in-the-wall place as most mom and pop donut shops are. The guy behind the counter is stoic. It was relatively late and there wasn’t a huge selection. Normally I get a buttermilk (cake) donut, but it looked like they were out. I instead, got two glazed donuts. The donuts themselves were pretty good. Average to above average. The icing was still moist, enough that it didn’t fall off when you bit into the donut, but not so moist that it stuck to everything (other than the donut). I could have used the donut just fried a little more to make it more crisp, but that’s getting a little nit-picky. At $.65 each, that’s $1.41 out the door for two glazed donuts. Yes, I got three free donut holes, but that’s a relatively expensive donut. I can get cake donuts at other places for $.75 and I think that’s verging into the high side. Glazed donuts should be closer to $.50. I know what you’re thinking, “What’s $.15, dude?” It’s not that it’s just $.15, it’s that it’s 30% more than what I would expect to pay. I probably won’t come back here when there are better donut places with a better selection for better prices that are nearby.

Donut Palace – Menu with Prices – 3300 Western Center Blvd #104, Fort Worth

Donut and kolache shop right by Ace Hardware. Inexpensive and gets the craving satisfied. We paid $10 for two glazed, two chocolate donuts, one ham and cheese croissant, and one Jalepeno pig kolache. I enjoyed the plain glazed donut the most after I microwaved it for 10 seconds. If they had been just out of the fryer, I bet it would have been even better. The chocolate donut was meh. I wouldn’t recommend it unless your kid is insisting. The jalepeno pig kolache was very good. The jalepeno certainly came through. I’m giving three stars because I wasn’t blown away at the taste of the donuts and kolaches, but I would return since it is so close to where I live and is reasonably priced.

Central Donuts & Bakery – Menu with Prices – 9500 Ray White Rd #167, Fort Worth

This was my go-to donut shop when I lived in the area several years ago. They had THE best apple fritters, which are my favorite, and THE best glazed donuts. After I moved away, I held every new donut shop’s apple fritters up against theirs and none ever passed. Theirs have apple filling you can see and taste. The donut itself is on the thinner side and with crispy outer edges. I love getting the different textural bites, some crispy and crunchy and some soft and gooey. The glazed donuts and donut holes are fluffy and just melt in your mouth. They are so light and airy and there is just enough glaze to give it a sweetness without being super sweet. You can’t get glazed donuts like this at just any other donut shops. I also enjoy their chocolate glazed, cinnamon rolls, and cake donuts. Sausage rolls are pretty standard. I was in the area recently and decided to stop in. Walking in, I was very pleased to see the same owners still there. They have always been super friendly and welcoming. I saw the same gentleman I remember working hard in the back making the donuts. You can even see him through an opening in the front. The kids in front of me were fascinated by him doing his work. It was cute. I got my beloved apple fritter and a few others. The fritter looked the same but honestly did not taste the way I remembered. The outer edges were crispy but the inner parts had a slight chew to it. It tasted good so perhaps just a hiccup in the cooking process. The glazed ones looked lighter in color but were just as fluffy and delicious. Still a very solid donut shop in the area!

Sugarboy Donuts – Menu with Prices – 10710 Eldorado Pkwy #110, Frisco

Honestly I wasn’t impressed. This place has great reviews and I’ve even been here a few times but I just don’t love their donuts. I’m simple when it comes to donuts. I don’t like anything too sweet or too fancy. When I go to donut shops, I always try a glazed donut and maybe a chocolate frosted (without sprinkles). Those are always the best measure of how their donuts truly are. I love big, fluffy yeast-risen donuts, don’t really crave cake donuts as much. I stopped in today on a late Tuesday morning and got a glazed donut plus their fruit+custard cronut. The glazed donut here was tiny and light. Since the donut was small, the glaze was overpowering. There’s a picture posted with someone’s comments saying best glazed donuts ever and that is a total lie. I’ve had plenty of donuts and their glazed wasn’t better than the rest. The fruit and custard cronut was ok. The dough was chewy but needing a bit more crust on the outside. The custard and fruit didn’t really add much spark. Didn’t feel like this place was that special. Just ok. Happy that they are doing well though! Just not the shop for me

Johns Donuts 2 – Menu with Prices – 7965 Custer Rd, Plano

Look at all these beautiful donuts. They’re as good as they look. I highly recommend the plain glazed donuts which are incredible, but the apple fritter was also especially good. Jelly filled was another standout. I’m looking forward to going back. The quality is great, the prices are very reasonable, and the people are friendly. What’s not to love?!

Sara Donuts – Menu with Prices – 9760 Medlock Bridge Rd, Duluth

A donut’s donut. There was a period in my life where donuts were my all time favorite food. Yeast, cake, jelly filled, maple bar. You name it, chances are, I’ve eaten it. But these donuts. Oh man. These donuts are quite simply perfection. If you’re a YEASTy BOI, you’ll love their raised donuts. They are so delightfully light, it’s like you’re biting into a sweet cloud. I think it’s like $1 for a bag of donut holes (my go too), and maybe a $1 for a sugar coated braid. Get these. You will not regret it. My only wish is that there’s a Sara Donuts in Atlanta, but I guess if I ever need motivation to visit the parental units, I know you’ll be there waiting for me.

Rudy’s Donut Shop – Menu with Prices – 2729 W 15th St, Plano

I’ve been meaning to check this place out since it opened, and I am glad I finally did. I didn’t really expect much, honestly, since it’s in a strip mall with Dollar General and other miscellaneous shops, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was a clean and inviting atmosphere upon entering and the donuts were good and inexpensive. The donuts I ordered included 3 specialty donuts that almost looked too good to eat. The “pina coloda” donut was a donut cut in half with a pineapple filling, topped with whipped cream, a pineapple ring and maraschino cherry with a cute little umbrella. The chocolate iced donut was cut in half and filled with raspberry jelly and whipped cream, also topped with whipped cream, chocolate sprinkles and a cherry. Last but definitely not least, the powdered sugar topped donut was cut in half and filled with Bavarian cream and topped with whipped cream, blueberries and a strawberry. I tried a taste of the Bavarian cream and Pina Coloda donuts, and they were both really good. Almost too sweet, but the donut itself was a perfect balance to the sweetness of the fillings and toppings. I also ordered a dozen glazed to take to the office. I tried a taste of one since that’s how I judge all my donut shops. They were light and fluffy with just the right amount of glaze. They weren’t like “fresh out of the oven” soft, but they were definitely good and worth having again. I’m not sure how much each donut was, but I believe the dozen glazed was $7 and some change. The total for a dozen glazed, 3 specialty donuts and a sausage kolache was $20 and some change. Cons: It was hard to read the pricing board since it’s turned to the side rather than facing the counter where you order. I also didn’t see any prices listed for donuts by the dozen, only as singles. Maybe I overlooked it though since the board was hard to see. Also, I had a sausage kolache. It was a little bland and chewy since it was microwaved once I ordered it. I think if I ordered it again, I would ask them not to warm and just warm it myself for less time in the microwave. I saw that another reviewer mentioned the tipping option when you pay with a card. That’s a pretty standard option at most places where the business uses that type of payment kiosk. It’s very easy to just say “No Tip” and sign. Plus, I know other donut places that just put a cup out that says “Tips” on it. Not much different than that. Ending on a good night, the staff (three ladies) were super friendly and great about telling me what was in each of the donuts. The specialty donuts were all decorated very creatively too. I didn’t mind the smaller selection than you get at some places because it lets them focus on making what they have really good instead of having a lot that’s just average.

Donut Place – Menu with Prices – 5476 Del Amo Blvd, Long Beach

I’ve passed this spot so often, especially on Sundays after church. I don’t ever stop because well….donuts!! I am so happy i did though. This small, unassuming, strip mall donut shop seriously has the best donut staples & pastries I’ve had in a long time, including trendy shops and mochi ones. The donuts were fluffy, without that nasty taste of old frying oil that some other places sometimes have. I got several: a. regular glazed twist : it was still warm, soft and tasty on the drive home. b. Bear claw : apple cinnamon filling – I am eating the half the day AFTER and it’s still as good as the first half from yesterday. c. Old fashioned sour cream bar glazed – (it’s the kind that’s split down the middle ) was crunchy and still moist, if you can imagine that. d. Apple fritter – my favorite pastry – wish it came in smaller pieces, since I tend to otherwise eat the whole thing, e. free: (their hours are shorter in summer and maybe the lady behind the counter liked to throw these in) : Chocolate glazed bar and sugar dusted donut. f. Large coffee: the server was very considerate to ask if i wanted it filled to the top or leave enough space for creamer. I’ll be back again!

Honey Donuts – Menu with Prices – 2141 E Arapaho Rd, Richardson

I’ve lived in the area a little over a year and have finally found the absolute best donut in town. We ate a lot of donuts in the meantime, but Honey Donuts made it all worthwhile the minute I walked in and she handed me a warm glazed donut. I’m a baker, from a long tradition of bakers in the family, but we don’t fry at home a lot for various reasons, so when we partake of deep fried deliciousness we want the best. Honey Donuts delivers! Their glazed donuts are so good, completely enrobed in a glaze that’s not too thick, not too sweet, with a hint of vanilla and honey. The glaze had dried to a perfect consistency and not sticky. The bottom of the donut had a lovely crispiness as well. I thought those were the best donuts I’d ever tasted till I had one of their cake donuts. Wow! I’m hooked. This is not your ordinary, run of the mill donut batter that all the donut places in town seem to buy en masse, this was unique, delicious, perfection from someone who cares about offering a quality product. The best thing about this place besides how sweet the proprietors were, was they were frying another batch of donuts at 11am and the case only 1/3 full and the shop empty. The reason? Even though they had plenty for me to choose from, they fry donuts all morning so they can offer the best donut no matter what time you happen to walk in. I was actually headed to another donut shop, but I’m so glad I stopped here!
