Hop River is absolutely one of the best things Fort Wayne has to offer. We went the week they opened and quickly became regulars. The beers are solid and there’s a good level of rotation. They have staples that are almost always available (occasionally they’ll run out of one or two, but that’s rare and remedied pretty quickly) and regularly do limited releases as well. If you’re a fan of IPA’s, Lasers in the Jungle is great–the right blend of citrus and hop without being overly fruity or bitter (think Zombie Dust). Their food is worth doing too. Sandwiches mostly, but all we’ve had have been perfectly satisfying. The white BBQ chicken is habit-forming. Their pulled pork nachos are great and definitely big enough to share (someone else reviewed that they were disappointed that the chips were kettle chips and not “real” nachos. The menu does specify this. Just saying). As someone who really appreciates quality ingredients, I feel like you’re definitely getting what you’re paying for. Meals are $10-$12 for a sandwich and side. Seeing that you easily spend almost that much on fast food combos anymore, I’m totally cool with their prices for good food that doesn’t make me hate myself. If you’re someone who wants huge quantities of deep-fried everything, this is probably not your place. It’s also not your place if you’re looking for an extensive wine list (that seems obvious, I know, but I’ve seen it happen. Needless to say, those people were unfairly disappointed. Because, well, brewery). That being said, there really is a diverse crowd there any given night. It’s a fun, light atmosphere that draws all kinds and I love that. It’s also very family friendly. Their wall of board games is brilliant. They update Instagram regularly with scheduled activities (trivia, crafts, etc.) and new releases. There are seasonal perks too like their patio, outdoor games and fire pit. It’s just a happy place and you should go there if you’re a happy person. But probably not if you’re cranky. That’d just be a bummer for everyone, ya know?

Juicy’s Wellness Cafe of Murfreesboro – Menu with Prices – 2314 Medical Center Pkwy, Murfreesboro

I had been to the Juicy’s in McMinnville and was pretty satisfied in the past, but yesterday I went to the Murfreesboro one and got loaded nachos. You’d think this place would stand out as a vegan option in this area, which is so needed, and you’d think they’d do some research and take some tips from thriving vegan places like Wild Cow and other vegan places in Nashville or even in other states. They don’t even offer burgers except on certain days, I guess. They don’t have a menu online, only on facebook. The nachos were awful. The chips were obviously cheap quality as well as low quantity. I called first to ask what’s on the nachos. I was told oh, they’re loaded with black beans, salsa, onions, vegan cheese, sour cream, etc, and she said they were so goo. Well, there was hardly any black beans, maybe 10 total, small container of salsa and hardly any sour cream, like literally a dollop of sour cream, maybe tablespoon, at most. Mostly was just a bunch of melted cheese on crappy chips. I was so disappointed. I took a picture of the nachos to show, but I don’t see an option to attach it to this review. They need a more diverse menu and they need vegan meats other than jackfruit only. They need seitan, tempeh, and tofu options. I’m not going to be ordering from here again.

Mi Lindo Sinaloa – Menu with Prices – 4796 Thornton Ave, Fremont

I was at a conference and it was the dinner break and I was hungry and didn’t have much time. I had previously read about this place and wanted to try it. It was pretty packed in there so I made sure to look over the menu kind of quickly. I decided on the Super Nachos. My order came out quickly and the staff were very warm and friendly. The Super Nachos were amazing! I added chicken to mine! If I am ever in the area I am coming back to this place for sure!!

Spirits Tavern Menu with Prices 1901 Bank St, Baltimore

I’ve been to spirits a few times and have always enjoyed it. The bartender knows his beers and isn’t bashful about pouring spirits. As other reviewers have stated there is a pool table and yes it is free, there is also video games, and two TVs playing movies or sports in the background. You can tell this is a local dive bar, that is frequented often by the locals and not so locals. I recently stopped in on a Friday for happy hour with friends and they were dishing out a free taco spread. It was just what the doctor ordered, I got a few cold cheap drafts and while I filled up on tacos and chips. I was impressed because not many bars have free food nights and this was a treat for the patrons, the layout had chicken, beef, re-fried beans, diced tomatoes in salsa, cheese, fresh made guacamole, and chips. It was created your own tacos so I tried both the chicken and beef with some of the re-fried beans and whatever fixings I was in the mood for, they tasted great. I eventually decided to make nachos with the chips because I needed some crunch mixed in. Next time I come back I will have to try something off the menu.

East Rock Brewing Company & Beer Hall – Menu with Prices – 285 Nicoll St Suite 103, New Haven

Very cool German style brewery that I was finally able to visit. They have a large taproom and their brewing space looks HUGE. A good selection of beers and even if you are more of an IPA guy like me, they offer some dry hopped lagers that give you a good compromise in flavor. It appears to be BYOF and they had a shelf of board games you can play. Parking is right across the street in a small lot. I look forward to future releases from these guys.

The Public House by Evans Brewing Co – Menu with Prices – 138 W Commonwealth Ave, Fullerton

Came here with a group of 5 for a quick happy hour, after work. This location is relatively close to the main parking structure which was great for our group to meet up. We came in at around 5:30 and there was plenty of seating and not very busy for a Thursday. The waitress sat us down quickly and set our table up while the rest of our group arrived. Since it was around dinner time, we were all very hungry and decided to order the wings, pork sliders, pulled pork nachos, and the brew-b-q pizza to share. Each order of wings come with 6, and since they were relatively small, we decided to order 3 of the happy hour wings. Even though we only ordered 3 they were very considerate to spread the wings out into 4 separate plates which made sharing a lot easier. The wings were well cooked and glazed in a good amount of sauce. The ranch dipping sauce was extremely thin and watery and did not taste like ranch at-all. I would highly recommend opting for the blue cheese dressing instead. As for the pork sliders, it came with an order of three and although I did not actually try them everyone said they were very tasty and very filling. Let me start by saying I am a nacho enthusiast, and I love a good stack of nachos with all the fixings. The nachos did have a good amount of fixings on top of them, nacho cheese, sour cream, pickled jalapenos, the pulled pork, and cotija cheese, but I felt as if all they were very sauce heavy and lacked a good crunch to the chips. Regardless, for the price they were decent. Again, I did not get to try the brew-b-q pizza but by the looks of it, it looked more like a small flatbread pizza. We were shocked since the waitress described the pizza as being “pretty big”. However, the rest of the group did say the pizza was decent. To drink we all ordered the happy hour beer and shot combo. I like that they let me switch out the bourbon for tequila since I am not a big fan of bourbon. On an empty stomach, this was all I needed to feel the alcohol quickly. The beer itself was tasty, the type of beer you should not sip and instead just chug to get the full taste. Overall, for a happy hour, I felt the food and drinks were decently priced and would recommend starting off a night.

The Cajun Table – Menu with Prices – 4510 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy suite d, Lafayette

Excellent customer service and great food!!! I stopped by for a late dinner and wasn’t sure what I wanted. I’m sure glad I ordered the nachos! They were great! The tortilla chips were cooked perfectly and were very fresh. You can tell they aren’t store bought chips that’s for sure. The cheese sauce and fried crawfish tails were great as well. Overall the flavor was on point and the dish was hot and fresh! We also tried the shrimp and bacon wrap and it was really good. My only complaint was the tortilla it was wrapped in, it was a tad stale, but overall it was a great wrap. The shrimp were cooked well and it had great flavor. I have been here before during crawfish season and you can’t beat their crawfish boil. The prices are very reasonable and all the food is fresh. I just wish they would have beer on tap. That would be the icing on the cake. Needless to say, we will be back!

American Legion Post #38 – Menu with Prices – 1857 Jackson St, Fort Myers

If youre a New England Patriots fan this is the place to be! We enjoyed our first game there recently. They have great drinks specials, buckets of beer at a reasonable price, The food was on hit! During the football games they do raffles, football pools and lots of entertainment. Safe place to take the kids and everyone is friendly! Definitely plan on being there superbowl Sunday!

Mexican Cantina – Menu with Prices – 1736 Victory Blvd, Staten Island

This was a Mexican Catina, it closed, became a place called Mulligan’s, it closed, and now we are back to the Catina. GREAT NEWS! I really enjoyed the first edition of the Catina at this location so needless to say I was very excited. We arrived at 7pm, prime time for dinner here on the Island and it was empty. Very fresh start here in terms of the visuals of the place but we will cut them some slack since they just opened their doors. No liquor yet, so that was a bit of a bummer. Again, they literally just got back into the swing of things so not going to hold that against them in the least sense. We sat where we wanted and were greeted with menus promptly and ordered our drinks. The menu had your typical Mexican fare but was a little short, we started off by ordering the Nachos with Chicken as our protein. I would have loved for it to come out quicker but that was not the case, again, not holding this against the spot with my score, I’ll get to that in a bit. The nachos were really good. The corn chips tasted authentic and the chicken was tasty. A very nice peppery flavor to the chicken but not overly seasoned. It was slightly greasy but had a comfort food feel to it which is great for a Friday evening. My wife ordered the Mix of Three Fajitas (Steak, Chicken, and Shrimp) and I ordered the Steak Quesadillas. Again the food did not come out as quickly as I wanted but I didn’t care because I really enjoyed the nachos and was pumped for the rest. The entrees came and the portions were adequate. The Fajita was SIZZLING up a storm and the aroma was wonderful. My quesadillas were quite inviting and I was ready to dig in. So I did. Here is where my score hits. I tasted the chicken from the nachos. I was perplexed. This didn’t have the same consistency as the chicken, it was DEFINITELY steak. I took some of my wife’s chicken off her sizzle pan and tasted it. Sure enough, the flavor was exact of the steak. I then had to taste her shrimp. Lo and Behold it tasted identical. A peppery flavor. Whatever marinade or lack there of they are using on these dishes is identical and not pleasant if you are trying to switch it up. It was very disappointing to come to this end on my Friday evening out with my family. The menu at the Original Catina that was here was awesome and if you’ve been here before, do not expect the same quality. I probably won’t give it another try but maybe one day they’ll nail it. The staff was very friendly. If I had known this was going to be my flavor experience I would have went down the road to Mezcal’s. Don’t let me deter you, this is just my take on the place. Go try it for yourself and let me know if you enjoyed it.

Brushfire Tacos y Tapas – Menu with Prices – 14240 N 43rd Ave, Glendale

I was super excited when I saw this place had opened up. But then I tried to find it and was thrown off because all I could see was the church that was surrounding it. I finally pulled into the parking lot and saw that it was at the center of the church campus. Walking in and seeing the slightly hipster vibe going I knew that it wouldn’t disappoint. The people greeted me as I walked in which is always nice, plus since it was around 1 it wasn’t crowded so that was nice. I ended up order the steak nachos to go and I am glad I did! Some places always skimp on the steak when you order nachos and usually give you more salsa, guac, beans and cheese which I am not mad at but when they don’t shave enough meat thrown in there it bums me out. This place a great amount of all the fixings. Plenty of steak to go around and plenty of chips to eat it all. My only gripe was the to go bad felt a little to small for all the food so I had to dig a little to get to my chips but other then that it was great. Highly suggest and recommend to those looking for a good lunch or dinner. I know I will for sure be back.

The Green Corner Store – Menu with Prices – 1423 Main St D, Little Rock

Mmmm, the Green Corner Store! The kind of place where you walk in the door, and at least two happy fountaineers will greet you, ask how your day is going, and offer you ice cream. Talk about hospitality! If you’re looking for a welcoming space as a local, or looking to get a taste of the local scene as a tourist, this is the place for you ? There is the aforementioned ice cream (cones, bowls, pints, or whatever special they have on hand – my favorite was the ice cream hot dog, better than it sounds), hand-crafted sodas, a small seating area where you can watch the world go by. Oh, and board games to entertain yourself between rounds of ice cream! The second half of the shop is dedicated to local artists, artisans, and food makers. They do local events for new releases or to showcase favorites, and they always have something new and cool! Also, spitting distance from The Root (best breakfast in town) and the Sunday Farmer’s Market (also fantastic) not to mention the up and coming South on Main area.

Sabor Latino – Menu with Prices – 1205 Versailles Rd, Lexington

Ordered via grub hub. Worth mentioning is that the burrito was pretty good. However, the main issue I had was the lack of attention to detail here. We ordered 3 burritos, 1 chicken, 2 steak and none of the burritos were marked at all. This resulted in us having to finger our food to see what was in the burrito, violating the seal of each burrito. It was neatly wrapped together until we got done desecrating it to see it’s insides. One of the people on the order got chips, for 3.99 which included no sauce. Most places toss in a cup or two of sauce, especially for chips that exceed a bag of chips from the grocery cost wise. The chips themselves appeared to be re-oiled, reheated and old. Some were soggy with whatever oil they slathered on there to keep them “fresh”. We eventually found on grub hub that there’s a small section labeled chip dip, for 3 dollars. That is 6.99 to gain an effective use of chips, while nachos supreme is only 2 dollars more without the hassle or confusion. This is concerning, as the process of ordering, delivering food should be streamlined in the year 2018. Very disappointing experience and I feel like if I ate there again, I’d be getting hustled for some salsa.
