Dang… finally able to have a PoBoy here as I?ve been hearing all kinds of good things about Twilight! I have to say the roast beef with debris was far superior to any I?ve had in Nola!! My hubs had the catfish PoBoy and said the fish was excellent! Now the bread is frigging amazing! Do not miss their hand cut fries and the fried green pickeled tomatoes! Outstanding !! The bartender Neal knows how to make a kick butt old fashioned! Excellent service by Neal too! Thanks for an amazing lunch!!

WINGS PLUS A Whole Lot More Menu with Prices 9525 Parkway E, Birmingham

I been meaning to try this place out quite some time, but never had the time. All of sudden, while at work, I had a hunch for some good old fashion fried green tomatoes. I tried every wings place in my area that serve fried green tomatoes except for Wings Plus. For anyone who wants to eat in, you’re out of luck since they only have drive thru. Coming here during the rush hour traffic that evening, I’m expecting a long wait in the drive thru, but it goes by pretty quickly. I got the 10 piece wings combo for $7.99 and the fried green tomatoes for only $3.99. My little interaction with the employee was nice which I’ve always appreciate business having good customer service. The hot and lemon pepper wings and fries were good, but the only little issue is that the chicken wings were dry since I’ve struggled to pull the wings apart. The highlight of my meal was the fried green tomatoes. Most places for what ever reason choose not to add any seasoning or not enough, but that wasn’t the case which I’d enjoy every bite.

Joe’s Seafood, Burgers,and Bar-B-Que – Menu with Prices – 4224 Ash Ln #2614, Dallas

The service was awful. The food even worse. None of the employees smiled or made eye contact when I walked in. The employees preparing the food also weren’t wearing plastic gloves or hair bonnets. The man cooking the food was sweating heavily and he was constantly wiping away sweat with his bare hands and using his shirt to wipe the sweat away. He wiped his sweaty forehead with his hand and then went and picked up the bread to use for the poboy I had ordered with the same hand. At that point I was disgusted and asked if he could use gloves. Another woman started screaming ‘we wash our hands!!’ and what good does washing your hands do when you are wiping away sweat with the same hand you are using to handle food? The food was terrible. It had all been already fried and simply dropped in oil to reheat. All of the food had a leathery texture. It was also seasoned poorly. The bar-b-que sandwich tasted the same. It was dry. Not moist. There was little, if any, bar-b-Que sauce on the meat. The catfish poboy came with two hard pieces of bread. Nothing else on it. But a catfish filet and old, hard bread. No condiments whatsoever. No lettuce or pickes or tomatoes. Nothing. Just a plain sandwich. Not dressed up. I won’t return. This is a terrible restaurant.

Sammy’s Po-Boys and Catering – Menu with Prices – 901 Veterans Blvd, Metairie

I have mixed feelings about my experience here. First let me say that this establishment is not affiliated with the Sammys on Elysian Fields…which is why I came here in the first place. We ordered a full sized 10″ dressed roast beef poboy, cheeseburger on bun and fries. I have to say that the roast beef poboy was very good and juicy. The only thing I was on the fence about was that the meatbwas more shredded/debris like than actual sliced roast beef. On the one hand this is a good thing because it makes it easier to bite through and less mess. On the other hand, I’m not new to roast beef poboy eatin’, I expected to get messy.. I also expected sloppy warm slices of roast beef to bite through as well. I still enjoyed it so I would order this again. So on to the cheeseburger. Very disappointed in this order. First off it was wrong. We requested no mayo and add pickles. We got the opposite. He ate it anyway.. Like a quarter of it. I could see he was really not enjoying his meal. So I took a chunk of his patty and began to taste it. It was entirely way too bland and just tasted off..not rotten or rancid..just not cared about and just thrown together. I felt bad that this ruined his meal and appetite. After that, I feel that they put more effort into what they’re known for and less over stuff like cheeseburger and fries. So maybe next time he would do better ordering one of their specials. Oh and the bathrooms.. It’s a shared bathroom with the rest of the bldg and kind of creepy in a feel like being watched way.

Zimmer’s Seafood – Menu with Prices – 4915 St Anthony Ave, New Orleans

I used to love this place when we first tried it. However, the fried oyster poboy I got during my most recent trip still had pieces of oyster shells in it! I was very disappointed when I took a bite and almost chipped a tooth! The cooks at this place need to do a better job in extracting the oysters from their shells or else it may end up a lawsuit! Other than that incident, the rest of my poboy was okay. It seemed a little dry than normal; it needed more remoulade. Also, after having Parkway’s poboys, I am no longer a fan of the bread that Zimmers’ uses. It didn’t have that nice crunch I longed for. Overall, this place is not bad if you’re going for the size of the poboy, but they’ve jacked up their prices and now I don’t think it’s worth going to anymore.

Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken – Menu with Prices – 321 E Vine St, Lexington

Follow-up review for Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken (Spoiler alert: the restaurant still gets five stars) Came back to Gus’s to have lunch with my mom. Mom is a die-hard southern girl. This is very important to her view of fried chicken, fried food, and southern food in general. We walked in, and someone said, “yeah, just grab a table and make yourselves at home!” Strong, STRONG southern vibes already. I like it. I like a place where I can just grab a table and eat. A server was at our table within two minutes, asking what we’d like to drink, AND she was explaining what was good on the menu, and her personal favorites, and generally being a friendly, outgoing person, engaging in friendly conversation. Another southern trait. Check. We had the fried green tomato appetizer. I’m not a big fried green tomato guy, but even I ate two of them. Mom is ferocious about her southern food, and she devoured the rest. Their fried green tomatoes are mom-tested, and southern-approved. Next up, mom had the three-piece dark meat plate, and I had the three-piece white meat plate. A plate comes with baked beans and cole slaw. Mom had it standard, I swapped out my cole slaw for mac-n-cheese. My southern mom is a stickler about cole slaw, and she said, “this is really good cole slaw! It’s crunchy and fresh, and there’s just enough dressing, not too much!” We both really liked their baked beans, which had just the right amount of heat in them. But it’s the chicken. That’s why you’ve been reading all these paragraphs. Is the chicken any good? In a word… yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes, Yes, YES, YES! their chicken is so goddamned good. It’s a little spicy, but the spice isn’t in a sauce like Nasheville that makes it sticky or greasy to eat. It’s in the batter, baby! Food was top-notch across the board. Next up, service. We came in at a slow time after the lunch rush, so there were only two other tables in the place. Our server explained the menu thoroughly, got us those fried green tomatoes the second they came out of the fryer, and would pause for a minute to laugh and joke with us, but wasn’t hovering over us. She was the perfect level of southern service and hospitality. For a follow-up review, food= excellent. Service= excellent. Price for quality= excellent. Definitely make Gus’s your go-to spot for excellent fried chicken and southern sides!

Sahara Delight – Menu with Prices – 119 S Washington Square, Lansing

Came in for the first time today. The first thing you will notice is how good it smells in here. I ordered the lunch special of a Gyro, Fries, and a drink for $7.99. I asked to substitute a Greek salad in place of the fries and was glad I did. The salad is packed with fresh vegetables and a great Greek dressing. The Gyro was packed full of lamb, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and tzatzaki sauce. Excellent lunch and fast service. The owner, Ali, is standing right there making sure your meal is prepared right. This is an excellent stop for lunch and I will definitely return. Trust.

Qwik Chek Deli & Catering – Menu with Prices – 2018 Clearview Pkwy, Metairie

This place is ok. It’s a like in hole the wall place. Looks like a neighborhood convienience store. Food is alright; a bit pricey for what they serve. We order a 12 inch shrimp poboy and large cheese fries to split. The cook behind the counter was nice enough to serve the poboys on seperate plates. The cheese fries was a very big portion. We only ate a third of that. My boyfriend didnt like that the poboy was served on sesame covered french bread. I didnt mind it too much. The shrimp were nice sized but this was definitely NOT overstuffed. The lettuce and tomato were shredded and diced and sparce. It just really wasnt anything worth bragging about. It was just… ok. We left out of there full but not satisfied. We contemplated on what better options we had with the money we just wasted on this place. We couldve split a kobe beef burger at cheesecake factory for probably the same price. Im not even crazy for cheesecake factory’s atmosphere. Well, lesson learned. Always gonna be hit or miss when trying new places. I always have high hopes for small mom and pop businesses but for the most part this was somewhat of a let down.

Shenanigans Kitchen and Cocktails – Menu with Prices – 4612 Quincy St, Metairie

I have ordered from them twice before and the food was good – burger, quesadilla, and onion rings. I ordered a 2 shrimp poboys and onion rings. We were astonished to find a shrimp poboy without fried shrimp. They were grilled or baked or something else. The onion rings were $7.75 for 10, yes 10. Absolutely a rip off. I went back to the DoorDash app and rechecked to male sure I did not order wrong but there is nothing but the size of the poboy and if you want cheese. Don’t think I will ever order from there again.

La Casa De Marcos Mexican Food – Menu with Prices – 714 912-4488, 2501 N Grand Ave, Santa Ana

Have you ever had hand made tortillas? Any Mexican dish without the right tortillas isn’t as tasty but, hand made tortillas is where it’s at. La Casa de Marcos has so much to choose from but today we had shrimp tacos and a wet green sauce burrito. The shrimp tacos are served on a soft hand made corn tortilla lettuce, tomatoes and, chipotle sauce. (It’s a little on the spicy side ask for it on the side) The green wet burrito was asada with rice and beans and the green sauce that topped it was mild not spicy they top the burrito with cheese, onion and cilantro. I always ask for sparkling water but, today I had the option to have regular or, prepared. The waitress brought over a beer mug with my sparkling water and it had fresh squeezed limes and a little rim of salt. Delicious! Great spot for lunch today.

Diamond Billiard Club – Menu with Prices – 3600 Hixson Pike, Chattanooga

Wife and I had lunch today. I was thinking about having wings but changed my mind when I heard the Monday special, meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, turnip greens and Johnny cakes. My meatloaf was moist and had a good flavor, taters were the real thing even had a couple lumps, turnip greens seasoned perfectly and some of the best I’ve ever had, the rarely seen on a menu these days Johnny Cakes were on point. My wife ordered the hamburger steak, her choice of sides were, salad which was really good, fried green tomatoes. We thought her salad was really good, hamburger steak was good but a little dry but wife ordered it well done (to be fair) it had fresh mushrooms and onions on top that was great. I’m not a big fan of tomatoes but I tasted the fried green tomatoes, they were good to me but wife loved them. It was not crowded, to be honest service was good but a little slow however food was fresh and hot and very tasty. Our only complaint is it was a little smoky sometimes but after all it is a Bar that serves good food. We will return, next time maybe Wings?

Kentucky Ale Taproom – Menu with Prices – 4000 Terminal Dr, Lexington

This was my second visit here. First visit was fine – good food and service. Second visit was today. Not so good. We stopped in for a drink to kill some time before our flight to Charlotte. My husband had a beer, and I ordered an Old Fashioned. I ordered it made with a middle shelf bourbon. It was not a great old fashioned. It was just “ok”. But then again, I was at an airport bar, so it met my expectations. Imagine my surprise when I looked at our check, and I was charged $17.75 for this drink!!! No, that’s not a typo. Then I looked closer and noticed it said “double old fashioned”. I didn’t order a double. I called to the bartender, who had replaced the bartender who had served my drink (she was on break). She said “oh, all of our old fashioneds are considered doubles.” Wow. I think she should have told me this in advance. Shame on me, I suppose, for not asking. But I would have never imagined it would be $17.75. A cocktail at my favorite upscale bar doesn’t even cost that much. Will not patronize next time I am flying through.

La Playa Seafood Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 7446 Alameda Ave, El Paso

El paso are you looking for the most bang for your buck? Then look no further than going to LaPlaya seafood in the lower valley. The staff is very friendly and our waitress recomended the lunch special which has something for everyone. As soon as we’re seated homemade chips and salsa arrived, the red salsa is tasty and the green salsa had some kick but just the right amount of kick.Soup of the day was lentil soup and it was very filling and full of flavor among the lentils are finely chopped celery, onions, tomatoes and garnished with fresh cilantro hot fresh and very comforting. After that my Filet Veracruz arrived and boy they did not skip on anything with a side of rice, salad, and mashed potatoes it was definitely a plateful. The filet was covered oin a rich tomato sauce with carrots and green olives the fish was cooked to perfection. When dessert arrived I was stuffed but managed to eat my peaches. Now this is truly a great deal all this for $6.99 so you get great service , clean tables abd really great staff I will be back and can’t wait to try another dish.
